Aurelio is amazing. Not only was my (teen) son’s haircut awesome, but the thing about it is that 3-4 weeks later his hair still looks great. With other barbers, the cut would be good but then a month later it would look terrible. Aurelio cuts the hair in such an expert way that it grows back super well. Well worth the trip!!!!

I chose to visit this local barbershop in a pinch because it had good reviews, but I was very disappointed with the cut (especially for the price). I usually go to a similarly-priced barber in Brooklyn who charges the same amount and spends about 4x the time on my hair while really understanding what I want done. I had been carefully growing my hair for 6 months when I got my haircut here and now need to start over again.I rarely write reviews, but Ive been infinitely happier with haircuts at places that charge $20. I was also charged $10 more than the price shown on the website.

Great experience here today. I think the best part about this place is the music they play. Ranging from Last Kiss (Cochrans 61 version, not the Pearl Jam one) to Sweet Caroline, it was hard to keep my neck straight because I couldnt stop humming. The atmosphere - very classic, American barber. Wooden. Quaint, but classy. The staff was very kind and well dressed. Its hard to find a place that offers you drinks upon entrance these days, as well. Very happy with cut and beard trim. Worth the money.

I went here once, i wanted my beard to look nice and the main guy did a great job, he trimmed it down a bit and shaped it in a way when it grows back in 2 weeks it will look good. Few weeks later it grew in into the style he shaped and i really was satisfied. Currently growing ma beard so i can go back!

Aurelio puts me at ease and gives me exactly what I want every time. He is incredibly consistent in the quality of his work. Flawless fades and trimmings, exceptional attention to detail. He makes me look so sharp! I always have a new bounce in my step when I leave.I love the environment of the space as well. Great laid back jazz standards and good conversation. He is an absolute professional in every way, and he is a wonderful man. It always brightens my day to see him. After looking for a great haircut for years in NYC, I have finally found it with Aurelio at WVT. Im not going anywhere else!

Aurelio is an artist with great attention to detail. A truly unique experience from start to finish, great location, great vibe- a perfect gentlemans haircut. Its a trek to get to from my home/job but definitely worth the trip over the past 2 years!

The quality of their work exceeds the price paid and the shop is a great find in a convenient location. While they are normally very busy, getting an appointment has never been a problem. Ive been going to West Village Tonsorial for a while now. Aurelio provides an outstanding cut every time. He truly takes the time to understand what youre after, and is sharp and consistent.The environment is comfortable and friendly, complete with hot towels and of course its nice to have the option of some whisky or a beer while youre there. I highly recommend.

As a Native New Yorker its has taken me a better part of my existence living here to find a regular guy. Its hard to explain, but the feeling I get when I text for appt and they figure out the best way to accommodate, is a New Yorkers dream. Then to go, get a haircut, and come out with the TIGHTEST haircut in the city is a good feeling. When you go you you hear the sounds of Frank Sinatra and James Dean ....and the cast of characters that surround become family.

Got a hair cut and my first beard cut ever. Letting brother grow longer. Aureliano Really hooked me up. Took time to help me figure out a shape that works for me. He gave excellent service as well as advice for future beard care and maintenance.Awesome retro space and very kind and knowledgeable staff. I usually dont spend too much on myself but Id say if you want a job well done and want to treat yourself to an experience then this is the place.

Really nice barbershop in the village. I stopped in last minute for an emergency hair cut before an event. I had already sat in the chair when I noticed they had a range of $30-$50 for a mans cut. I keep my hair very short and just needed a quick clipper cut and neck clean up intervention. I was surprised when they rang me up for $50.00. I payed it without complaints, but it did leave me with a bad taste in my mouth and I only tipped 5.00 on the cut. With that said, if you have beautiful thick locks on your head or face ( I have neither) it is definitely worth a stop.

Awesome overall experience !!! From the vibe of the shop and the pride that the staff has in their trade you are gonna feel good about being there. Had my beard trimmed and shaped up, and even got some tips to take care of it. Well worth every dollar.

A classy operation in a cozy, rustic setting. This is not a place you are likely to just walk into and find a chair, but if you call ahead they can get you in at some point during the day. The master barber/owner is there every day working his craft, and is clearly someone who takes pride in his work. This place hasnt been here all that long, but Im already a loyal regular.

I have been getting my haircut @ the West Village Tonsorial for quite some time now. The owner/barber is one of the finest I have ever encountered. His attention to detail and pure love for his profession is apparent in every cut. Every single haircut I get looks exactly how I ask. I no longer live in the city, but still go out of my way to get my haircut every month @ the West Village Tonsorial. I can not say enough good things about their business.

Ive never had an experience like the one described by the two star reviewer above. What I have had are the best shaves and haircuts of my life, plus the occasional whiskey (or water or even once a green tea). I thought my former barber in Brooklyn was the best, but after discovering the team of barbers at Mustache last year there was just no comparison. I was very glad to see West Village Tonsorial open last summer and know master barber Aureliano runs a classy operation and a tight ship. I think their prices are more than fair, especially considering the level of service offered. These guys are artists, and it shows. Five stars all the way.

Aurelio has been cutting my hair for over a year now. In my 8 years of living in NYC, hes honestly the first barber Ive found who nails my cut every time. Of course, thats the most important thing. But beyond that, the atmosphere and the attitude in WV Tonsorial is really what makes this place special. The music is usually oldies pop classics, the barbers are all dressed to the nines, and everyone is chatting and making jokes. Everyone working acts like theyre apart of a small family. I always walk out of there feeling relaxed and looking great.

I came here early in the evening in the middle of the week and luckily managed to be seated promptly. The place is small and has a very retro ambiance, with the decor and music. I was offered a complimentary drink, whiskey or beer. It wasnt anything fancy, but a nice touch. The barber has great attention to detail and takes great pride in his work. I like this place, but the cut is slightly on the expensive side.

I have never had a bad haircut here. I recommend the place to all my friends. Its the kind of place that makes you wish you needed a haircut.

My girlfriend purchased a gift certificate for a shave with Aureliano early in our relationship. Fast forward a few years and many trips to West Village Tonsorial, when I recently found myself in Aurelianos chair for my wedding haircut (which he perfected, as always).The experience would be worth the modest price even if it didnt include a haircut. The relaxed pace and classic feel of the shop is a wonderful contrast with the bustle outside on 7th Ave. Add in Aurelianos artistic touch and deep understanding of what the customer wants, and I could not recommend West Village Tonsorial highly enough.

They changed barber halfway through, poor shave (had to shave when I got home) and they complained when I wanted to pay below a 20% tip. Will not be coming back again.
