Top notch! The entire facility was clean, modern and the staff was amazing through the entire evening. Several parking lots near by if needed. The lounge area downstairs is awesome, the bar in the main venue was well stocked and the drinks were great. I hope to come back again.
Remodeled!Definitely not the Irving Plaza of days long gone. It has changed along with the tide of show goers.Pros:-Great sound-Clean and clean bathrooms-No wait for beverages at either bar-Friendly staff-Follow strict Covid protocols for safetyCons:-Expensive beverages-No place to sit inside show area with General Admission. This was a pain, for me, due to an illness I have. Sometimes it’s hard for me to stand for long periods (hard to predict when it will happen). I asked security if I could sit some place and the guy gave me a stool in the downstairs lounge where the show could not be seen or heard. Also, I walked away from that stool anyone could sit there.-Parking included puts you on a time crunch as you have to retrieve your car by 11:55 pm or get it at 7:00 am
Ive seen a lot of great bands play here. Most recently was Turnstile. The sound in this place is always amazing. I’ve never gone here and walked away feeling cheated. The outdoor smoking area is super small. And the line is usually around the corner. They don’t charge for water…
Get the balony tables. Otherwise, looooooong time on feet in line, opening acts, and headline. Nice employees.
Attended a HU concert at Irving Plaza, the place is cool but the staff isnt friendly
Been coming here for decades! They have redone the place completely and its beautiful! lots of new bathrooms and a speakeasy lounge in the basement everything is new and improved ! a must visit!
I havent been there since the 1980s but it was one of the best places to go to. Then in 1988 or 89 it became Crazy Eddies hip hop club for a while. That was off the chart Dynamite fun. Met LL Cool j in there, the rap group 3rd Bass, and Russell Simmons. Fun times, fun days.
Really small venue. Can have some amazing views if not fully packed, enjoyed it.
Saw Luna here in maybe early 2003 or 4I feel the place had a good vibe.Praying it continues for the next generation. I know it will
Great venue, cranking air conditioning, cold but expensive beers, security was nice & accommodating for my non visible disabilities (I was taken to 3rd floor so I could sit too) Madball was awesome as always, love my NYHC community!!! Thanks for hosting this important show! Cant wait to come back!
Its very nice inside, with alot of space... great spot to keep a events 👌..
Security pockets the stuff that falls at the end of the show. The security guard was trying to tell me the Apple Watch with my name engraved on it was not mine and refused to give it to me.
Great small venue for music. Not a bad spot in the place since its so small. You feel really close to the stage and the band. Gritty vibe throughout; perfect for such a venue. Cool lighting. Good acoustics - not overpowering for the size. Of course, no seats - all standing, as expected in such a place.
This is a standing room only venue, and because of that the performances are very intimate. Just be wary that you will need to stretch out for a bit, or just continue moving, which is kind of hard when the place is packed. Food is expensive, but that is expected. Bathrooms are clean, and that is always good. I wouldnt mind returning for another concert in the future.
Still the best live music venue in NYC. Good sight lines, small and intimate and great sound. Been to several dozen shows here over the years. Favorite spot to hang is upstairs in the back, even though they now charge you VIP access for that. Pics below are from the Celebrating David Bowie show in Feb 2018.
The venue gets pretty crowded very quickly, the long lines outside will be your first clue. Keep in mind that this is a STANDING ROOM ONLY venue so be prepared to be packed in like a sardine with people super close to each other. The best place to be in is more towards the front middle so you can see, hear, and enjoy the performance without feeling like you will lose your hearing. Drinks are overpriced as with almost all event venues but on the plus side there are some neat restaurant bars in the area that you can check out before or after the show.
Great venue super chill
Went here to see The Milky Way Tour 🥛 by Bas. It was a dope show. Cool venue for hip hop. 2 bars, one downstairs and 1 upstairs. $12 for a barcardi and coke. Coat check cost $4. Only 2 lines and it got so long people had to wait outside to get there jackets. Not me, skip the line nobodys gonna say nothing.
A great venue that has withstood the passing years. Simply a great place to catch a show now as it was in 1995. Irving Plaza will leave your ears ringing as the sound system is absolutely fantastic. The downstairs bar offers a getaway from the show should you need a break from the action. A definite must if offering an act you enjoy. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Nice general admission place to see concerts
Saw Young Nudy, left earth.
Went for emo night and had a good time. The venue was spacious and there are 2 bars one upstairs and another downstairs. My only issue was with security. They took my friends e-cig and told her she had to throw it out. Nowhere in the venue rules or policy did it say that they are prohibited. E-cigs are a very common thing so if they arent allowed people should know before hand. If its even an actual policy.
Nice intimate venue
First time attending this venue and the experience was phenomenal. The show put on by Andrew McMahon and friends was of top quality. The facility seemed to be decently up kept. The sound quality though..... 👌🏻crystal clear and just the right volume. In the middle of the show someone was having health issues and the staff handled it very well. After the show they were even kind enough to get us some water while cleaning up.
This music venue located near Union Square is pretty convenient. Parking garages are located close to this venue. They scan your printed tickets. 16oz beers for $9. Three bars. Balcony area. And standing room only.I enjoyed the music, staff is friendly/ hopeful. I will definitely come back for future concerts.
Attending the amazing Michael Schenker Fest Concert here at Irving Plaza including a meet a greet and sound check before the show is going to be forever etched in my mind as one of the greatest times ever for me. The staff was awesome handling a sold out show and the sound quality handling the four soaring vocalists and searing guitar licks, heavy bass, drums and keyboards were top notch as well.Thank You Michael Schenker, Despyre and Iving Plaza for making this happen here in Beautiful New York City 🤘🎸
My favorite venue
Went to an Andy Mineo concert here and it was off the chain amazing! Had an incredible time, if there was another performer going here, I would most likely go. The only thing was security was exceedingly tight, which is good for safety, but it did make things very difficult for my friends and I. My only complaint and it’s a little thing.
Amazing experience seeing Billie Eilish with my teenage girls! Have to admit I was a little worried about seeing a concert at Irving Plaza with my 2 14 yr old girls, but we felt very safe - no chaos and the venue kept things very much under control and not overcrowded. We arrived a bit later than we’d hoped & the line was already around the corner from the entrance. Luckily we were in the right place at the right time as there was a venue salesperson offering upgrades to a “fast pass-style” ticket for $50 (per ticket) which included a drink and awesome view from a raised platform on the side of the room. Worth every penny so if you arrive to find a monster line keep your eyes open for a venue employee selling upgrades!
Terrible acoustics and fast lane service is a waste. Makes you wait with the same group anyways once you’re in the building. Awfully organized and then complains about people pushing when they set it up that way. 2 stars for tom odell but 0 for the venue. I’ve sold my tickets to any concerts i had with this place.
Awesome gig
Lovely atmosphere
I would give it five stars, because the atmosphere was great and it was easy to find, but the staff absolutely sucked. I was here on Sunday May 20th for the Miyavi concert with my best friend. We arrived a few minutes late for early access (we got VIP tickets), due to traffic. When we let someone up front know, they sent us to the BACK OF THE LINE. During security check, they were yelling at people, and had us separated into lines for males and females, I suppose to avoid sexual harassment. The woman who was checking me spoke rudely to me, telling me to move away from the door. She honestly looked and sounded like she did not want to be there, or as though I ruined hee day. After the concert, staff asked us if we had VIP bracelets for the Meet & Greet session, to which we responded no but proved we had VIP tickets. Someone promised us theyd be back with our bracelets. Fast forward almost 20 minutes later, and they never came back. I approached another staff member pissed off at this point, and told him what happened, from start to finish. He seeked out someone else, which happened to be the lady who was supposed to come back with our bracelets. She told my best friend and I that they had run out of bracelets but to keep the VIP tickets on hand. Are you kidding me? If a venue knows how many people have paid for VIP, shouldnt they keep those on hand? Not even five minutes later passed, when the same lady approaches with the VIP bracelets. They suddenly, magically had bracelets. Overall, our time there was mediocre at best. Staff is absolutely the worst. The only staff member who was kind was the gentleman at the door for the meet & greet.
Great space from the sound to the super nice staff! In an easy to get to and nice area as well. Not a fan of the artists they tend to book though as it seems they focus on the younger under 18/16 crowd and also once semi-popular artists who now are trying to make comebacks. Targeting this younger crowds musical taste has created a more under 21 friendly venue - and that sounds great in theory except the result is most bands play more dulled down sets to accommodate, the bands start and end early but never late (one of the 2 I get maybe? but to do both is frustrating..)Overall - its really a great venue for under 21 (where was this when I was that age?!) Theres never any surprises on how good the show and overall concert will be, which is slightly above average but not amazing or absolutely great. You always know what youll be getting here when you ckme see a show, down to almost each detail, which is rare at venues because usually a band and their crowd can change a place each night. At irving plaza, its always pleasant and a good show. Nice size and in addition to the floor seating, the upstairs has great views arranged so more people are able to watch the stage easily. Never had any issues with staff as theyre professionals and very nice/friendly/helpful. They are way less tolerant as a venue overall about nearly anything which makes sense however they at least are able to do so respectfully and in a polite way to concertgoers. Essentially they stop any nonsense before it begins (or evolves into a giant fight or something between drunk people that ruins everyones time) and in doing this and preventing larger incidents - they do come across as a stricter and more rules Than most venues.
Saw the Cadillac Three play here and they ROCKED it! Loved the venue, small and simple but actually really nice when I started to focus on the venue itself.Would definitely come back and see another show here. 👍🏻
Pretty small venue for 1,000 people, which I enjoy. Coat check line can get really long so if you need to leave quick get in line a few songs before the show ends. Good sound. Space between the barricade and the stage is small, which I like. Allows artists to go into the crowd easily and interact. Balcony area gives a good view if you’re not about being in the pit.
Great smaller live music venue. Paid the extra $$$ for the VIP upgrade and had access to upper floor and was very happy I did so. Would definitely come back to see a show.
I have been to this venue twice now for two concerts. The staff are friendly and very helpful. When you do go to a concert at this venue and its for a well known artist make sure you get there VERY early. No matter how late the show actually is there will be a lot of people on line. Also the set up for this venue is interesting because it has a floor level but then also a balcony which you have to purchase either an upgrade or a specific ticket to get up there. Very confusing but I have been on the balcony both times and it was a lot better than standing in the crowded and tight space on the floor.
Great smaller live music venue. Paid the extra $$$ for the VIP upgrade and had access to upper floor and was very happy I did so. Would definitely come back to see a show.
