Truly a horrible experience from start to finish the customer service I experienced was severely lacking i had the car for 2 weeks if i called avis 15 times just for basic questions they were literally busy from 9 am to 5 pm so the line was always busy i could never speak to anyone when needed then when someone picked up they put me on hold for 20min until I just hung up. The car they gave me died so I called at 3 to try and get a replacement I literally had better luck calling roadside assistance but I could no get the car to them BECAUSE THEY DONT PICK UP PLEASE LET AVIS BE YOUR LAST OPTION
Due to Storm Ida impacts in this area, I would think that someone would have contacted me to verify if I was extending or returning. No calls, no emails, rental location was closed, and no instructional signage at the rental office. Yet, I wake up Monday morning to a $997 charge to my credit card. The Avis customer service rep kept me on the phone for 30 minutes, but could not explain the charge. I went back to the rental office and a lady decided to come out and try to assist altho the location was still closed. She couldnt explain the $997 charge either. She ended up letting me return the car, which we appreciated. Even after that, I noticed that I was charged a $45 late fee; AND IVE NEVER BEEN CHARGED A LATE FEE WHEN RETURNING A CAR. My goodness, the location was closed, 90% of the city was without power due to storm Ida, and Im already paying for the additional days! If I had to base my decision of renting again on this experience, it would be a ZERO.
The PICKUP:Picked up TUESDAY morning #easypeasy #duringCOVID19 #thepandemiccontinuesThis was the SECOND stop of an attempt to rent a vehicle for the THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY, which should RIGHTFULLY be called INDIGENOUS PEOPLE HOLIDAY; but that’s topic for another time.Anywho, as I mentioned, this was our 2nd attempt to rent a vehicle, as our 1st attempt was FUTILE; this was from another rental car agency, who shall temporarily remain nameless, but they too WILL BE REVIEWED.Once the initial plans fell thru, we journeyed here and were seamlessly able to get a vehicle, a better, more comfortable vehicle, than what was offered at the 1st rental agency & for a better rate; did I mention it was a 2020... hello NEW CAR SMELL & without faking it with one of those fragrance trees . Seems like it was divine intervention that we were led to rent here, thank you Jesus.The manager on duty, Ms Nisha, I believe that was her name, at this time I was so flustered, until I barely remembered my OWN name!!! Ms Nisha was attentive and able to multitask with great efficiency, as she was processing our transaction, interacting with co-workers & and providing a quote to a lady on the phone; talk about a one WOman show... my mind was blown at her follow thru-ness & accuracy!!!The vehicle selection was random, kinda wanted to choose the vehicle, but hey, at this point, the Flintstone Car would’ve been ok; we just needed to go. The vehicle had a few exterior smudges but we were able to review them, mark them on the contract, make note of the gas gauge and I was out of there!! #vroomTHE RETURN:Returned SUNDAY morning. #easypeasy #duringCOVID19 #thepandemiccontinuesOh what a rainy, dreary, cold wet day. That made this return a little bit more complex. No one came out to review the vehicle with me, the young lady indoors simply asked for the keys said that they would check the fuel and email me a receipt; that was pretty good. I liked that it was a stick and move caper, I LOVE these. This quick and easy return, thankfully made a long road trip, less long; who wants to be bothered with details of returning a vehicle that was in the same condition as when you picked it up… Not me.As I return the vehicle I noticed customers waiting for vehicles, I also saw a representative moving the vehicles to clean them and get them ready for the next customer. The staff was very rude and disrespectful. They customer service was horrible, I will never visit their location again. It will definitely be Enterprise from this day forward.

Terrible car rental establishment and I wouldnt recommend to anyone. They over charged us over $1000 on a rental in February. After that we just keep getting wrongly charged. We was charged twice for a bad tire on a car that we turned in a month before and contacted corporate and corporate removed it.. then we were charged 2 in one week and was told the bank did it not us -Evette. But was also told a month prior to this incident that they run everything with a push of a button - Evette. Was also told one of the charges out the 2 was pending by Evette after we told her that the charge wasnt pending and it went through. Evette argued us down (which was recorded and we have proof of) saying call the bank. As we were on the phone we were also looking at the statement letting her know the payment went through. Then to top it off we was also gave a car that wouldnt start. Then in a car with 2 bad tires. We will be taking legal actions because we have been over charged multiple times and talked to extremely reckless and unprofessional because of their mess up. She have gotten more than enough money from us and we have bank statements and we also have calls recorded to prove it. Do Not rent here they are overcharging people and its not right. I will be getting in contact with corporate as well with all my proof. DO NOT RENT HERE!

The staff at the canal street local seem to be rather discriminatory against mononymous people. I was asked for my license again after I was handed my paperwork while waiting on the car to be cleaned (even though I said I was in a hurry I was told I would have to wait over 45 minutes for them to clean the car before I would be able to leave) and then told I needed to fix my license if I were to rent a car there again. I said that my license was correct and that Avis refuses to update my name in their database. NOTE: I have had no issues at other locations in town but this one is the closest to my house and as I was in a hurry though I would try again. I was made to wait anyway so lesson learned. avoid this location at all costs.
They are very nice. But I was a little irritated that I had to wait for them to detail the car. It was a 1pm pick up and I was not even there until 1:20. But I have rented from here 4 or 5 times in the past and will continue to.
Really appreciate the service from Yvette last week. I needed to get to a 9:30am appointment, so she was able to check out the car at 8:30 to get me on my way even though they did not offically open until 9am. Freindly and easy to use- great location. Thanks

Warning: Theres a lot to this story, so my review will be long. I have broken it up into sections of my experience.ONLINE RESERVATION/CUSTOMER SERVICE EMAIL: 0 OUT OF 5 STARSWhen I booked the reservation on Avis website, I was told that, because I signed in using my Amazon account, I would receive a substantial discount AND a $78 gift card to Amazon. I should have taken a screen shot of this, because OF COURSE, when I received the online gift card, it was for about half that ($37.19). When I emailed them about it, I got reply emails completely in German, which I saved as evidence of this nightmare of a customer service experience. Also, I never was able to update my misspelled name online, despite being told every time I tried that my information would be updated in three days (spoiler: it never was).CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE: 0 OUT OF 5 STARSBefore picking up my rental, I noticed that I misspelled my name online. I kept trying to change my name online with no success after more than three tries over a weeks time. I called Avis customer service hotline and, after waiting and waiting, got an associate who said that to change the name on my reservation, he needed to reset my username (?). I asked if he was sure and he told me yes. He sent me 2 reset emails, which I never got (and he told me he couldnt stay on the phone with me while I made sure everything worked out ok). Because I never received the emails, but he reset my account, I wound up being locked out of my online account. My name couldnt be changed at the physical location, so my name is just permanently misspelled on my account.PHYSICAL LOCATION: 4 OUT OF 5 STARSAfter waiting over 30 minutes for my scheduled/pre-paid rental, I was given a vehicle that, while nice, burned a lot more gas than I budgeted for. I dont fault the people behind the counter - they work hard and probably werent the ones responsible for scheduling vehicles to be picked up on time. I understand that rental places get busy, but honestly Avis, if (a) you cant keep enough cars on hand, (b) you wont adequately staff your locations to handle both cleaning cars and working the counter, and (c) returned vehicles arent cleaned and available until more than 30 minutes after they open, THEN DONT ALLOW PEOPLE TO SCHEDULE PICKUPS BEFORE 30 MINUTES AFTER OPEN. Youre messing with peoples schedules.I may have been stupid enough to use Avis this time, but Ill probably be booking through Enterprise, etc. in the future, as I have never this bad of an experience with other rental companies. Buyer beware.

Customer service was horrible; my card was overcharged by $125, and I wasnt able to get those funds returned for 1 week. I rented the same car for 1 month, almost $1000. The first week was $170. By the 3rd week, they were asking $350. It seems like if your company wants loyalty and return customers, you wouldnt jack the price up like that
I booked online and prepaid. The car was not ready when I arrived and the counter would not provide me with any other size larger or smaller, forcing me to wait for 90 minutes with no car and missing an appointment. I asked for adjustment to the price of the rental and was told that was not possible. Staff did not offer to help in any way., just shrugged. Poorly run location.
This was my second time renting a car for leisure and the agents were professional. The staff are professional and engaging which makes for an excellent experience.
Stop telling tourists to book card and drive around. We already have traffic issues here, and they are dangerous to have driving around, as they dont know how to drive here.
I called a day in advance to drop the car off at another location and was told by a Christopher it would be no additional charge! Reason I needed to drop off at a different location was because my flight was leaving at 9:30am and the Avis I picked the rental up didn’t open back up until 9:00am. When I dropped the rental off I got charged an additional $75.00. I called and complained to only get hung up on then I called back and was told I got a good rate already so there was nothing that could be done! Very unsatisfied customer.
The staff were very friendly and professional. The check in and check out process was easy. The person who checked me in gave me great suggestions about where to find inexpensive parking nearby and where the nearest gas station was to refill the tank before returning the car.
Sucks, waited for hours. No help they couldnt figure out where our car was. They need serious help.
They posted hours wrong. We arrived at the time we were told and they would not open the door because they claimed we were closed . They were the most unprofessional and worst company I have dealt with in my 30 years of renting vehicles. I would not recommend this to my enemy.

They have a friendly staff and provide good customer service . The only problems I had is the cars smelled like smoke, also the cars I drove all had check engine lights.
Avis and Budget combined. Usually not long lines but only three seats for waiting. It is along the trolley line so easily accessible form transit.
No problems at all.I arrived 1 hour and a half before the time of my scheduled pick-up, (10/30/19) they offer me a small truck at the same price instead of waiting for the car of my reservation. No problems
Expect a RIP-off. Expect to have your original agreement to be trashed in Aviss favor. When you shop around for a lower rental price you will be transferred to a centralized number, which is a great bluff for accountability at Canal St. The central agents will never have to deal with you directly and probably make bonus $$ for closing a deal. I was told $97 for car and insurance (I made what I understood clear by repeating back and asking questions). Once the credit card number is released, they have you!! Backing out is prohibitive as Avis charges you a higher price if you DONT show.. . The pick up price was 50% higher than what I agreed to on the phone (on Canal St I paid $153) and it is tough to do anything about it. I was told on Canal the price couldnt be adjusted until AFTER the car was returned. In other words, I could only complain AFTER the money is in their bank account.... yep.

Rented a Mercedes Benz. It was awesome. Become an Avis preferred member and earn points. Not hard on renting a car as long as you have a credit card. I love that. Highly recommend them. The staff at this location were friendly and welcoming. Go Avis!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Don’t ever rent here. I had a car return due at 6:00 pm. Apparently they also close at 6:00 pm. (Didn’t know this until I googled it) I then called at 5:00 pm to let them know that I would be there right at 6. I was told we close at 6 and hung up on. I showed up at 6:02. The woman opened the window refused to take car and told me to bring it back in the morning.Ok...yes, I was 2 minutes late...but what car rental companies allows you to book a car and return it at closing time?! Why not print on the invoice, please be aware we close at 6:00 pm! Why wouldn’t the customer service representatives that rented the car tell us in advance they close at 6!! Any of these notifications would have prevented this from happening!
Rented three times from these guys since arriving in New Orleans. Didnt matter if it was Jazzfest, the week after the floods, anything-- perfect service and personal attention. Could not have been friendlier. If youre not the sort of person whos going to complain because youre only treated like a human being and not the King of Persia or something, theres nothing at all wrong with this place. Highly recommend.
I did not get the car I made reservations for. The option AVIS provided to me was of far less quality than what we reserved, and they still charge me the same. I know a 12 passenger van we got is more expensive than the 8 pass lux suv we reserved, but when we are about to drive 1000 miles in two days I want comfort over space for all my 6 passengers. This was the same for both parties in my travel group. Why make reservations at all? You even charged me 40 dollars more than estimated when reserving. Very displeased with this rental.

From 1713 Canel street I have had nothing but problems. This is my third time renting from them and my third time having problems. I will never rent from them or advise anyone to rent from them

Convenient location to the French Quarter on a major road. Staff is friendly and rental went well. Can was as reserved and in good condition. When you exit the lot and have to head down Canal toward the river, you take the second right and make a U-turn. Keep an eye out for pedestrians and streetcars!
I was pretty surprised with my experience at this Avis being an avid Avis user for work. The workers were rude. The girl helping me was wiping a bloody nose with her hand and still helping me without washing her hands. I reserved a specific class car weeks in advance and was told it wasnt available and wouldnt be available until 4 hours after my reservation time. I also was charged for the specific class car I reserved but settled for the smaller cheaper vehicle. I settled just to get out of there, but I should of been charged less for the vehicle I actually received. I even paid to extend my reservation to be able to return it at the airport rather than this location. In general, if your job is to provide vehicles and you dont have the vehicles you advertised at the time advertised, let your customers know and dont charge them for upgraded options if you only supply the base level options..

Anytime this place is open it is busy. It seems like they could use one or two more employees. Service is good enough, but watch your timeline for returning a vehicle because there is little to no grace period here. Also it is colocated with budget and sometimes you can make last minute changes from one to the other for either a cheaper deal or better vehicle. Being very polite and non demanding (have your id, credit card, etc.. ready to go) to the clerk helps immensely. All in all an okay place with a good location.

Great service! I got a rental, drive off the site and didn’t feel comfortable in the car. So I called and told them why and did what they could to get me in the same size vehicle I paid for that I was comfortable in.
If I could give this location 0 stars I would. The customer service was horrendous. I pre-paid for a rental that would be used the whole day. When I got there, not only had they given the car away and blamed me for it, they also were incredibly rude about it. I will also say, that I was not the only person in the store at that time who was dealing with the exact same issue. Every single staff member working that day presented a rude demeanor.Not only do I not recommend using this location, I would strongly suggest using a different car rental service.
Great location close to the tourist attractions. When I arrived, there was at least 6 staff on duty, meaning I didnt have to wait a second. The car was exactly as expected, clean and the service was super friendly !

I Will NEVER rent from AVIS again. Over $500 for a 1 - 1/2 day rental. I understand a drop off fee for one way rental, but this is excessive. I would recommend using other car companies instead.. I had reserved a car, and it wasnt ready when I arrived. Had to wait for a car to come in. The worst car rental experience I have have had. I do rent frequently, but never again from this location or AVIS. Shop around...

Quick, friendly, and efficient
By far the worst! the car was clean and on time i can say that! BUT i left over 700$ worth of my things in the truck and when i went back for them, they were gone! they gave me attitude in trying to find my things. they first told me there’s nothing they can do, but when i mentioned the police they were ready to run the cameras back. i can say i made a mistake in leaving my things but in all that company could’ve called instead of stealing my things!

Great location in downtown New Orleans. Reasonable rates, especially if opting to use your own insurance, etc. Nice selection of new vehicles. Smaller is better for the narrow streets of NOLA.
We ended up not needing the car when we tried to cancel, even though we were willing to pay the days we rental charge they wanted to charge us a $150 dollar no show fee. To avoid this unfair fee we had to come in and sign the paper work and then turn in the keys. This waisted at least an hour of our time. I will never rent a car from avis again, I consider them unscrupulous RIP off.
Booked and paid for vehicle weeks ago. Selected a size suitable to take our luggage out of sight in trunk. They will only offer us a smaller car or suv. Appalling serviceIn spite of responding to request below I have received nothing but a non-committal apology.To add insult to injury they have taken an unauthorised payment from our card and even they cannot tell us why they have taken the money. Looks remarkably like fraud to me.
I give this place a 0. I pre paid for a car on line over $300.00. Go to pick up the car and they tell me I cant pick up the car. I ask for a refund. Then I am told that they cant put the money back in my bank for at least 7 days. I now have no car and I am out over $300.00. I then ask them to call my daughter and tell her that I cant go get her because now I have no car and out $300.00. This was all after them sending me to three different places to pick up a car and told no three different.
Car was not there wanted to upgrade at a charge reservation was made 6 months ago I should not have to wait around till someone else returned a car. My time is valueable

My mother & I came is to pick up a car rental. As soon as we walked in we noticed the first woman at the desk was being very rude to other customers. Then another woman name Josephine approached us at the next counter, we were so relieved. She had a beautiful attitude and the process was so easy. Lol my mom told me to put shes the bomb :)
Did not realize you have to have a major credit card on hand to rent a car here. Had no problem getting a car from OK to LA but was rejected for my return trip. Front desk associate was not sympathetic and did not make any attempt to apologize or help resolve the problem. We became stranded in New Orleans and had to pay an extra $700 to take a last minute flight home. To add to the poor customer service, she said she would not be able to refund us our prepaid reservation and to call the 1-800 number. We called and the first customer care associate hung up on us when we complained about the lack of help/care. When we finally got an associate that was helpful (total time on phone +/- 45 mins) he informed us that we would not recieve our refund for 5-7 days. It has now been 10 days and no refund has been given. I will never rent from Avis again. I also want my refund! YOU DO NOT DESERVE MY MONEY! And will never get another penny!
Service was fast when I got the car, however, when I return the car we had to wait a while. The problem is that is both budget and Avis in on spot and there is one line. But other than that service was pretty good.

What a joke. My car wasnt ready, that happens, I understand but after 40 mins the car they gave me only had half a tank of gas. I had to wait longer while they left to go fill it up. There was grease all over every knob and the steering wheel. I had to stop and clean the car myself. The price was great but at a cost.

This is an Avis and Budget rental facility. I rented from Budget and was returning a car I rented in another state. The staff was friendly but wanted to charge me an additional $250 for a few dog hairs that were left from my luggage. I took the car to get it vacuumed instead...then returned it.
So understaffed. So utterly frustrating and difficulty everyone was having just trying to get a car rented. If we werent dropping off the car 4 states away, definitely would have used Turo

Poor facility and vehicle as well never have seen such a dirty Avis or $200 a day rental.Van had puke in the front floor not well cleaned up and dents all down the passenger side of vehicle. Aweful whoever controls there franchises needs to visit, REALLY! Only positive was punctuality of the pick up at the cuise line or this is a one or lower for sure. And I dont do bad reviews.

I had rented a car at Austin airport with a drop off at this location. They closed my account before adjusting the time of the return and charged me extra for 1/2 hour which was about a whole days rental. We tried to explain to the first two agents that we had the car for 24 hours but they kept saying you signed the contract . The issue was that we had picked up the car half an hour before our reservation time and were told that as long as we returned in within the 24 hours we would not be charged extra. We were very diligent about returning it before the 24 hr period. They also charged us for gas even though we returned it with a full tank of gas. Doesnt look like the agent checked to see if the gas tank was full. A third agent finally fixed the issue and said what we were saying was correct. The first two ladies who helped us were extremely rude and said we would have to deal with the corporate office.

We have been here almost 3 hrs waiting on a car that was reserved months ago. Im very upset about the car but I am more upset about the condition of the bathroom I had to use. This is the most disgusting public bathroom I have ever been in. The top to the tank is off, you have to flush the toilet from the inside. The floor is dirty, the sink is dirty, no toilet paper, the paper towels were sitting on the handicap rail. The paper towels fell on the disgusting floor before I could use them. This is ridiculous, this bathroom should be closed for repairs. I cant believe paying customers have to use this restroom.
