Meet Greg the Gentlemanly Mechanic! During our family-of-five-plus-a-dog 2,500-mile relocation road trip to Las Vegas from Virginia, we stopped for gas in a small town in Indiana and noticed that the 6x12 ft U-haul trailer our minivan was towing was bearing down on the hitch way too close to the roads surface. The minivan and the trailer almost resembled the wide angle of the letter Y. I saw Hoosier Auto Repair across the street and thought we should get their professional opinion of the situation. Thanks to the observant receptionist, and a friendly customer who happened to know sign language and interpret for me (Im hard of hearing), she remarked she was actually watching from across the street as we were refueling the minivan and was wondering about the towing condition of the hitch and trailer. Almost immediately, she brought over a mechanic (Justin) who gladly took a look at our hookup and then brought over another mechanic (Greg) with more experience (and more grease on his face, grin). Greg eagerly went to work on figuring out a solution. After about fifteen minutes of friendly and patient deliberation of our options and interpretation (my wife helped out during this part), they flipped the original downwards Z shaped orientation of the hitch upwards so that it would boost the trailer, providing a precious few more inches of clearance above the road. I have been going to Hoosier Brake and Auto for a couple years, and am extremely satisfied with the service. They inform you on what the issue is and what kind of repair is needed to fix it. If they believe that the repair itself would be more costly than getting a new vehicle, they wont keep it to themselves in order to make money off your ignorance. Theyll let you know straight up and how much it would cost to fix. When they do fix it, its not a quick patch up cheapest option type deal. You get the best quality possible. Very much worth your time and money. Hands down, best repair place in town. Also, its right behind doughnuts.

In one word, OUTSTANDING!!! I have never been to a more professional, clean, and organized shop. The best part was the excellent level of customer service we received from Justin and his team. We had never been to this town before and Justin treated us like lifelong customers. The short story is we were up from Florida and our transmission went out. Justin was up front about how long it may take and kept us updated throughout the process. Once completed and we were on the road he took time to check on us and make sure everything was working properly. Justin and his team were all extremely polite and informative about the issues I was having with my car. I wasn’t pressured into any consumerism for my vehicle either. They helped me understand what was going and gave me options on how to go about fixing it. The shop was extremely clean and had a inviting atmosphere. They got my parts promptly and told me everything they were doing each step of the way. This was the best service I’ve received in town hands down. I can’t recommend them enough!

Justin and his crew are very professional. They have provided excellent service each time we have taken a vehicle into their shop. They also give different options for fixing whatever the issue is with the vehicle. Justin personally test drives the car when the work is complete and will not release it unless he feels the vehicle is safely repaired.

These guys did a remarkable job installing new brake rotors and pads on my car and even changed the oil in 55 minutes. I was amazing by the speed and service. I was very satisfied.

I have been here twice since the new owner, Justin, has started running it. It has been a great experience both times and I highly recommend. The people are very nice and helpful and are good at explaining issues so that you understand what is going on with your car. My husbands car had a lot of problems with it and they were able to walk us through all the issues and let us make decisions about what to fix. I took my car there with some issues related to my brakes and they were able to quickly fix the problem in the same day. Great service!

I highly recommend Hoosier Automotive! I sent them an email about some work and general maintenance I wanted to get done and didn’t expect an answer until today yet I got one yesterday within the hour and they got me in for an oil change and brake change! O and I said replace rotors and they came back said they really don’t need it so they saved me money with their honesty! To top it off I was able to a ride since I didn’t have one and the work was going to take 3 hours. O I’m not done the work took 2.5 hrs! Great experience all around. Hard to believe I was in New Castle, In getting this service!

Top notch shop. This place was recommended by a friend after I had gotten two conflicting opinions on my brakes. We set up a time on the next day that was good for me. They looked at the brakes, showed me the old brake pads that clearly needed replaced and said all other break components were fine. (Another place said other items needed replaced too.) They gave me an out the door price with tax and everything included that sounded very fair and said they could do the work right then. I was out with new brake pads in an hour from start to finish. This is my auto repair shop from now on!

While camping at nearby Summit Lake SP over Labor Day weekend, I developed a bad coolant leak. While Justin was not open, he took my call and provided advise and cautions so I could drive back to Indy. If I ever break down near New Castle, your shop is my choice. Thanks!

I highly recommend Hoosier Auto Repair. My muffler fell apart and Justin came to Kroger to follow me back to his shop. Even offered to let my child ride in his truck if I thought my car was too unsafe or loud for her. Recently I was having wiring problems and he called me back instantly, on his off day of course. We couldnt get the issue resolved over the phone. So the next day, he towed my car from muncie even though he was all booked up for the day and very busy. My issue was resolved the day after that in a very timely manner! And an oil change the same day as well. Justin is very thorough in his communication and professional.

I woke up on Labor Day to find that my car wouldnt start. The car had a new alternator and the AAA guy confirmed that it wasnt the battery. He said it was most likely a starter and wished me good luck getting it replaced today, as it was a holiday. I called ten or fifteen shops who were all closed or who told me it would be too late by the time I towed my car there. Finally I called Hoosier Auto Repair. Justin, the owner, answered the phone and told me that he wasnt technically in the office today but that he would still make it work for me in between a BBQ with his family. I was so grateful. Finally as evening was approaching I reached his shop and he and his business partner took a look at my car. They tinkered around with the car for a few minutes and he replaced the started and my car fired right up. I am so thankful to these men for interrupting their family time to cater to my emergency. I will add that I am a single twenty four year old, female college student who knows nothing about cars. I looked up the average cost for this repair and they were right on the dot. They didnt overcharge me and I felt perfectly safe in the presence of these two very kind and professional men. I would reccomend Hoosier Auto Repair to anyone and everyone.

These guys are awesome! Traveling through town for work and my car started acting up. Called them up. They said swing by and theyll take a look right away. They did just that. They fixed the issue and I was back on my way in no time! I wish I had these guys in my home town!

Called the store to trying to find help in replacing a bolt, so I could feel comfortable driving until replacement parts came in. Having moved to New Castle, I didn’t know what mechanics to call, but this store was the only one I got ahold of willing to help at a moments notice. The gentleman I worked with truly cared about the customer first. The way you are treated makes you feel like you are speaking with an old trusted friend. Nothing is more important than that when handing someone your vehicle. As mentioned before, I am not from the area, but I do know now who I will trust to do any future work.

My reason for 1 star is you took 3 weeks of my vehichle sitting then said you need $2300 up front. No thank you! Also you let my battery run dead. But since you cant remember me i wont be back to see you! You lost my business. I gave you a test trial and you failed! Didnt even get to do the work or anything because you want to lie!

I walked in without an appointment and needed something on my car looked at asap. These 2 men, one I believe as the owner, dropped everything they were doing to the van they were working on to help me. They figured out the problem and found me the part. They refused to take any money for their service that day. I went back the next morning and they had my part. Fixed my car perfectly and charged me just for the part. Not their expertise!!! Thank you two for the wonderful business! This is the kind of hometown service that I was wish we had more of!!I have went here a handful of visits since this review and everytime Justin has been so nice. Had to stop in for a quick question about my headlight. He stopped what he was doing to check what the problem could be. Fixed it for free and sent me on my way.
