TL;DR: Excellent service, friendly staff, knowledgeable barbers, and great equipment.I was signed up for a Gentlemans Choice w/ Straight Razor shave by a family member after losing a bet. Ive always been the kind of person to shave myself and trim my own hair, as I never saw a good reason to pay someone else to do what I can do at home. Guys, I was blown away.I entered the shop a few minutes before my appointment time and checked in, and was offered a selection of beverages, both alcoholic and dry. I declined, for personal reasons, and the woman at the front desk told me my barber would be ready in just a second. Just a short minute or two later, I was lead to one of their chairs.Ally (I hope Im spelling her name right) asked what I wanted to do with my hair/beard, and offered great suggestions right off the bat. She was incredibly knowledgeable and professional, though also very friendly. There was some small talk, though she didnt force it, which I was incredibly grateful for. (The Rona pushed me back into my introvert shell, unfortunately.)After a quick hair wash/trim, (and hot towel, God Bless whoever thought of that) we moved on to the Straight Razor shave. Yall... Ally absolutely killed it. I usually have trouble falling asleep on the best of nights, but I could feel myself nodding off in the chair. The combination of pre-shave, warm lather, and an incredibly skilled barber working magic with her straight razor nearly knocked me out. Not to mention another hot towel (gotta figure out how to make those at home).Then, all too soon, the shave was over. Ally cleaned everything up, gave me a cold towel (to close the pores, I learned) and we were done. I felt my chin, and I swear it hasnt been this smooth since Elementary school. I had one hand glued to my chin practically the whole ride home, just entranced by the feeling.All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this shop, and cant wait to make my next appointment!

Took my son in here a little over a week ago for a last minute appointment, thankfully I called to see if there was anything available. After arriving, my son was seated super quick. We briefly explained an idea to the hair dresser, and she delivered! Hes super hard to please and changes his mind a million times. Last minute he decided just a trim, but i told her to keep to the original decision. I enjoyed this shop and would bring him here again.

Best in the area - Ive tried several places in the area and this is the best place for a good looking cut. Isabel is awesome, she listens, works her magic and the cut always comes out looking great. She has even fixed the mess other stylists have left. If you have the time I recommend the relaxation treatment. Its a great way to de-stress.

I called ahead and reserve my spot, and as soon as I got there I was seated. The Stylist was very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

The online appointment booking system is a joke. They will double and triple book a stylist and then try to get you to use a different stylist but you wont know until you get there. Joke of a system!!! I will never return as these places are a dime a dozen.

Very nice place, however, the only reason I go there is because of Isabel. Ive been following her for 5 years. Consistently, she cuts my hair exactly the same every time. I have curly hair and it isnt easy to cut without butchering. I also take my 17 year old son to see her. Shes the best!

Isabel has been my stylist for the last 15 years or longer. I waited for her to return to work before I cut my hair during these days when contact was at risk. She’s very personable and does what you ask when she cuts your hair. We know about each other’s family and always a pleasure when I need a haircut.

This place rocks! They give you the full treatment as if youre the only costumer of the day, and, theyll throw in a free beer. The ladies are easy on the eyes and always have the best attitude. If youre in need of a haircut it would be a mistake to skip this place.

I travel the country for work, so finding a good barber shop is always a daunting task. I decided to give Matador a chance because of the positive reviews. I walked in with no appointment and was greeted immediately and seated within 5 minutes. I was handed an ice cold beer in a frozen mug and received an absolutely amazing hair cut. The hot towel, shampoo and shoulder massage are almost enough to put you to sleep. It costs a little more than the average barber, but it is well worth every penny. If Im ever in the area again, Ill be back for sure.

So I wanted to wait until after the second haircut before I wrote a review just to be sure this awesome haircut was real....AND IT IS! This place is awesome and Liz is FANTASTIC at her craft! Not only is she amazing with fades, she is a perfectionist and takes her time with the cut. She is not worried about getting you in and out of the chair, Liz wants you to get exactly what you are looking for! I have lived in NB for 6 months and have gone to ALL of the barber shops in town...LIZ BEATS THEM ALL. She fades better than all of the guys I have been to and she holds fun conversation! I am pretty picky with skin fades but Liz has nailed it. I am glad I found her and this place just got a long time customer! Thanks Liz!!!!

I met Lucy Salazar when I first moved to New Braunfels, from that day on I haven’t trusted anyone else to cut my hair. She makes an effort to get to know every client, and form a bond with everyone. At her last store you’d walk in and see the reservation board was asking for her alone. A good haircut of course starts with the quality of the job done, but ends with the experience you’ve had with the person on the other side of the chair. Lucy Salazar doesn’t give good hair cuts, she blows them out of the water. If you’re new to the New Braunfels area, or just looking for a new place to get your hair cut, take a chance on Lucy Salazar and take a chance on Matador Men’s Grooming off Hwy 46, from the second you walk in you’ll know that you’ve made the right choice and you’ll never look back. I am new to the area and have already tried 3 places that didnt meet my expectations. I dont ask for much just a consistent haircut like I had back home in The Woodlands. First time here Brenda greeted me right away and gave me just the haircut I needed. My second time in the same thing happened so I am extremely happy and will continue to go here and see Brenda.

I’ve been to the New Braunfels location a few times. I feel I get great service and a quality cut and shave. Anytime I have my beard cleaned up it looks much better than anything I could do myself.

Been looking for a consistant haircut for almost two years since moving to the area. Read some good reviews about Matador and specifically Bridgitte. So I walked in and tried her. Everything went great the first time, so I made an appointment and went to Brigitte for the second time. Cut was great, hot towel fantastic as she washed my hair, then a quick scalp, shoulder massge and I was done. I will now be a regular.

After living in Los Angeles for several years and getting the star treatment. I had tried out several places here in New Braunfels without any luck. I walked into Matador and was so pleased. The receptionist was polite and explained everything, then came the top notch service that I get every time I get my Hair cut (every other week). Brigette took care of me the first time I walked through the door and has every time I have been there. (Not to say anyone else doesnt do a good job) Brigette gives me the service that I had when I was living in Los Angeles. I am pretty picky when it comes to getting my hair cut and she gets it right every time.
