Do NOT Recommend, we had made a reservation that stated we could actually return the vehicle downtown Nashville online this was for $83/one day-- NO, they do not have a location to return the vehicle we just needed the car ONE day only had to drive all the way back to the airport to return. They were totally understaffed! The Hertz location inside the airport had probably 30+ people in line. We went straight to the garage to get the vehicle, as we had an appointment- where there was another line of about 10 people. Dollar and Thrifty were both run by Hertz inside the airport they had ONE employee working. Alamo had NO line and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. DollarS put a hold of $306 on our credit card, the receipt estimated $128. Our credit card is currently reflecting the $306 charge. NOT sure how this will settle out-DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!

Everything about my rental was unpleasant to say the least. After telling the representative I did not want coverage or anything like that, I was told to sign the small digital screen. I did so, got my car and left. Only to later find out that I was charged several hundred dollars for coverage and roadside assistance - that I told her I did not want.The car that was available did not look as though it had been cleaned, and looked as though there was a missing piece of the bumper.Upon questioning the improper charges, I was told that I read and signed a contract and that I had to pay for all the fees. After admitting that I would not have been given a contract prior to signing that little box, the Dollar supervisor told me that the contract was still binding. Telling me that something I was given after signing was the legal document, but that my signature is what made it all enforceable -- even though I was not shown any part of what I was signing.To sum it up, Dollar will hide their fees and charge you even if you tell them you dont want add ons. It doesnt matter what the representative tells you or what you tell them, they will charge you for everything that they can and will not make things right afterwards. These Fees totaled more than the entire rental was supposed to be (FYI).

After reviewing the reviews And confirmed the secret add on charges that are in the contract I will not rent here. but the total you see is not it they tack on additional after your gone so read it carefully to pick out these LEGAL charges that are NEVER spoken of. READ! They are deceitful!

Please do yourself a favor and choose another company. Initially I had a great experience. The car was fine, I had no issues with pickup or drop off. But they charged me an additional $168 for ancillary fees. I paid in advance and my total should’ve been $212. I did add an additional fuel option which totaled to $30. The additional $138 was because of stuff I did not add on but they secretly put on the contract for me. No communication beforehand. These people are truly crooks.

Price was decent enough but there was only 5 or 6 people ahead of us in line and we waited for 45 minutes to an hour. Luckily we werent pinched for time but what we thought was going to be a relaxing amount of time ended up being just enough time no extra.

If I could give a negative star, I would! I was overcharged and have been trying for WEEKS to get the issue rectified. When you call during business hours, you sit on hold forever and no one answers or you get a recording that it is outside business hours. You email and you are told it will be sent to customer support and then no one ever gets back. So unprofessional. I will NEVER use them again.

One person at the counter and weve been in line for a long while. We had a reservation, they knew us and the other people in line were coming. Seems like they should be prepared.Once we got to the front of the line the staff was the saving grace. She was lovely and almost made us forget about waiting in the cold with our child.

I have rented cars all over the world and the staff here is THE WORST! We had a wrinkle with names and they refused to make the tiniest effort to solve the problem. They werent rude, just worthless.Avoid this Dollar/Hertz/Thifty location like your life depends on it.

Ive always rented from Dollar Rental now all of Sudden they dont take Chime Card which I use everytime I rent from them. They took my money and everything on April 16 but couldnt send me a Email or call me or nothing to say they no longer accept those Cards I found out the day Im supposed to leave out to find out... Very very very unsatisfied and poor customer service and communicating the issues with the customer

Recommend travelers not to do fuel purchase option, you will end up with $119 dollars for a tank of gas, in my case I only used half tank. At the counter they said gas there is cheaper than in the city, after taxes and services $119 is what you will pay.

IF YOU HAVE AN APPLE CREDIT CARD, THAT IS CLEARLY A MASTER CARD, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I reviewed term and conditions weeks before traveling. Nowhere on website or in the terminal at airport do it say they do NOT take apple credit card. It does say clear as day that they take MasterCard! NO ONE swiped my card, before even doing so they told me flat out that do not take Apple. I said ma’am this is a MasterCard! After speaking with manager, they refused to refund me! I was stranded at MIA airport for 2 hours! Right next door at a different car rental, THEY ACCEPTED MY CARD! What a waste of time! You need a advertise specifically that you do not take Apple Card. Then I called the so called “cooperate office” AND THEY WERE NO HELP! DO NOT BOOK WITH DOLLAR! Save time, patience, and money with some other rental company.

HORRIBLE experience here! We were asked if we wanted to upgrade our car for an extra $60 a day. We declined since we were wanting our premium car. It all seemed like a quick, easy process until my boyfriends card was ran only to be told it was declined. We knew there was plenty of money in our bank account so we called our bank & our bank had advised that the security code on the back of the card was typed in incorrectly by the agent. We went to go make another separate reservation online, went back up to the counter, made the agent aware of HIS mistake & we were told by the agent that per Dollar policy the same card could not be ran ever again. Didnt seem to care that we were now out of a car rental. Ridiculous. We did not have another card to use. Also on top of that a $400 hold was going to be placed on our card ON TOP of the charge for the rental. We had an amazing experience at Enterprise, got the same car at half the cost AND only had to put a 20% hold on our card. Definitely will NOT be back to Dollar.

I rented a car at 5pm yesterday on dollars website. Pickup time was 8am today, drop off time was 10pm today. I used a debit card, which according to all the policies I read online, was acceptable, but would require a second ID for verification. I even called in last night to make sure I would be ok, and was told it would be fine. I arrived at the counter at 8am this morning, and was refused my rental by the agent, who told me you cant rent with a debit card in less than 24 hrs. You can pick up your car at 5pm today (24hrs after booking), or you can get a hold of dollar to cancel your reservation, at any time up to 5pm today. Guess what happened? I missed my window to cancel my rental (had to cancel before 8am this morning). I mean I almost cant believe it. I have attached a picture of my conversation with dollars chat agent. Renter beware - this company has no problems screwing you over. I might remove this review if they refund my money, but as of right now, Im pretty upset with them. What a huge waste of my time.

WORST experience of my life for my family and I. I picked up my rental and drove home which is 10 minutes away from the airport to load our minivan with our belongings and my children for our summer vacation. A few minutes later our van rental tire was flat in front of my house. I immediately called the customer service number. The first time I called the automatic operator said they had high call volumes and for me to call back later. Hence, I chose the road side assistance option. I immediately called again and the customer service rep had no concern for my problem. He said that triple AAA would be here in 2 hours!!!! It has been more than 3 hours and no one has showed up! I called triple AAA three times already and they keep saying someone will come in 10 minutes. This has been a terrible experience and ruined our summer vacation plans. DO NOT RENT from this company if you care about your family. My young children are very Upset. This company took away our joy and happiness from our vacation and no one ever apologized.

I was quoted $114 for a three day rental which I picked up and dropped off on time. While the car was fine during our trip, Ive been home for three days and have had THREE separate, unexplained charges on my card totaling $576. We brought it back full of gas and declined all add-ons, including insurance. Ive been given no explanation and can get no one on the phone at the location to correct the issue. Wish I had read the reviews beforehand, as it appears this is common practice for them. I will never be using this company again.

Terrible company. Quoted $64.00 for a rental. charged $409.00. charged for a cleaning deposit. They claim the vehicle was smoked in. I do not smoke and spent a total of 15 minutes in the car. The man that checked the car in after I returned the rental, was smoking, while checking in cars. Dollar acknowledged the employee smoking in the car and refunded $22.00 of the $300.00 cleaning fee. Dollar will not refund the remaining charges. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

We just picked up our rental car today from the airport. We had a horrible experience with the girl at the front desk. She was pushy and rude and basically forced us to spend an additional almost $100 due to miscommunication. We tried multiple times to refuse the additional driver and the insurance and she just charged us anyway, then said we agreed and she already printed the contract so it couldn’t be changed. We were expecting to pay about $200 for a compact car for 3 days. My credit card was charged $522! She also failed to mention there would be a $200 holding fee. We got to the garage to pick up the car and that’s were we met Islam. Islam was beyond phenomenal!!! I cannot express our gratitude. He was so nice and reassuring. He took off the additional fees that we tried to refuse, and even upgraded us from compact to a mid-sized sedan for free! Our total ended up at $204 (plus the $200 hold). He completely changed our experience. But the entire issue could have been prevented from the beginning.We picked up from the Nashville airport location today, 8/7/19, at 6:00pm. Unfortunately I was too stunned and upset to get the name of the girl at the front desk.

The worse car rental I ever experienced. I was asked for an upgrade and I agreed. Though we pick up our vehicle it was a compact SUV. Ive called 3x to informed them that I didnt get the vehicle I paid for.Decide to go back to the Airport. Ive explained my self to the rep and he decide to call manager. OMG she is only for the pay no customer service etiquette. If I had to filled the vehicle 4 time that is not a mid size vehicle. Never again Dollar.

Sunday, Sept 24, 2017: We arrived at Nashville Airport and went straight to the Dollar Rent a Car counter. After standing there for quite a while, with no help in sight, I called Dollars toll-free number to see if we could get help. Meanwhile, my husband walked to the next booth (Thrifty) where two employees were standing. One was helping a customer, the other (the man in the photo I posted) was simply standing there with a cup in his hand.My husband had seen the young man looking at him a couple times, but since he didnt make a move to walk over, we assumed he did not work for Dollar. WRONG! My husband finally walked to the Thrifty counter to ask if anyone was working at Dollar and the same young man headed over to help.We had reserved a specific vehicle, but the employee would not verify what type of vehicle we had. In fact, he was not helpful at all. When we finally arrived at the garage to pick up the vehicle, the young man, Adam, behind that counter was the total opposite. He was the most helpful employee and needs to be recognized for his outstanding customer service!Im giving the man at the counter a 0 for customer service, and giving Adam a 5! Average for Nashville Airport Dollar Rent a Car is 3. Maybe Adam should be greeting customers and the man behind the terminal counter should be washing cars. Rating would improve. :-)

This is my second car rental with dollar and again I had to remind them about a GPS that was requested on booking form ! IT amazes me that being foreign visitor the GPS is not already in the vehicle and is an extra add on expense and has to be reminded at every Dollar car Rental Venue! The fact that I got to pick what car I wanted is better than Advantage Car Rental at LAX who up sell you to get more $$$ from you. These guys are in the business of renting cars but still cannot get a handle on the details!

Absolute nightmare. Dont even think about it using dollar rent an experience from Hell! First, the vehicle they provided had an invalid registration. Then, I had to go through major hassle to get a vehicle that did have a valid registration. Vehicle did not run properly. Then, all these mystery charges showed up on my credit card that made no sense at all. I called them, sat on hold for, LITERALLY, an hour then a person who barely spoke English transferred me where I sat on hold for another 20 minutes. Another lady who barely spoke English was of no help. RUN, RUN, RUN.

We arrived very late at the Nashville airport to visit my dad & his wife (and still had a 3 hour drive to their home). There were five of us and we were tired & cranky! Steven at the kiosk in the garage was AMAZING! He helped us get the right car for us & all our luggage. Jerry helped us as we checked out & they both went above & beyond. We did end up having a flat tire while we were in Myrtle Beach & the team there was also great helping us exchange out into a different car. And finally Scott back in Nashville when we returned the vehicle for good was super helpful as well. All around a great team! Thank you for helping out family trip be that much more smooth :-)

I always rent from Dollar at BNA. I’ve always had a 5-star experience. I am renting again this week at BNA for the first time in 10 months. I have avoided BNA airport since then because it was my understanding that the shuttle between the terminal and the car rental facility had been discontinued during the airport’s recent construction. I certainly hope the shuttle is available again. It is such a long walk from the terminal to the rental cars if one has multiple bags, a disability, injury etc. BNAs airport management really needs to provide a shuttle for travelers.

In the months leading up to our vacation. I worked 90+ hours a week to ensure financially we could relax and enjoy our trip. Before booking I spoke to a dollar agent who assured me if I paid ahead all that would be due on pick up was about $175 and a $200 deposit which I would get back. I asked and double checked if insurance was included in my payment I was assured it was. So I went about working the extra hours to pay for this trip. I get to the counter to get the rental (Chevy Cruze). I’m hit with a with insurance and all I need a credit card to cover $35 a day for insurance. Plus airport fees. Now the thing is I was never informed of this. Even after asking multiple times So here I am without a rental and being told 30 days for an investigation to receive the $475 (ish) refund. 30 days!!!!!

So helpful and friendly. Could have done without the sales pitch upon pick up, but I know thats their job. When I returned I accidentally left my phone in the car and didnt discover till I was in the terminal. Everyone was very helpful in recovering it as quickly as possible. It was clear theres a protocol in place, which was comforting.

This is the worst car rental experience I have had in my life. We waited have an hour just for someone to help us and once they did help us they didnt have any cars similar to the one we prepaid for, they didnt have any cars for anyone. They are horribly under staffed and poorly run as a business. We have been waiting for over an hour now as I write this and there are people here who have been waiting longer than us. NEVER EVER rent a car from here you will regret it. I would give 0 stars if I could.

We changed our pick up from Atlanta to Nashville due to storms causing our flight to reroute. Called online to make the change, this was quick and easy! Arrived to the rental counter, the employee was polite and pleasant until we didnt want to pay for the roadside assistance or optional insurance. She got a bit nasty after that. During our stay we decided to add an extra day to our trip. Once again we called and made the change with no problems. Return was super quick and easy. Aside from the employee being annoyed that we didnt want to spend 900$ to rent a standard car for one week, everything went well!

I like how I was able to choose amongst the class of car I selected instead of getting a preselected car. Returning the car was easy and hassle free. DO NOT RENT FROM DOLLAR. They are a rip off. I booked a rental from their agency. My estimate was $327. When I returned it at the stated time with no damage, full of gas and no extra charges, my final bill cam to $479. The explanation I was given was that they had put the return time at 3:30 AM, when they are closed, not 3:30 PM when I would be arriving at the airport for my flight. The extra 12 hrs cost me another 50% on top of the original 96 I rented the vehicle because The rate changed with the extra 12 hrs. This was their mistake not mine.I am waiting for a copy of the contract which they say reads 3:30 AM and if it does, shame on me for not catching the mistake. Howevere I think it would be reasonable to assume that they would put a return time when they were actually open. I would have no problem even paying for the extra day at the agreed rate but Im not paying a rate of $300/day for a rental car from Dollar.

I almost always dread getting a car from most rent a car desks for lots of reasons. The guy behind the desk is generally slow unfriendly or just not interested. In this case the guy at the Nashville desk ( Adam ) was superb. He was super friendly, set up our GPS, gave us the needed guidelines as to what to do next. I want to make sure this is made visible to the people who need to know. Thanks Adam !! Great job. By the way the car was superb & was a pleasure to drive.

What an absolutely awful experience. Flew into Nashville and got to the Dollar counter which was unstaffed. We had to wait over 15 minutes for John to come out of the back and help us.He rang up our rental and provided us a total of $540 plus a $200 hold for using a debit card. We were aware of the $200 hold but had a confirmation that the actual rental should only be 266.19. I presented this to John who asked me to sign on the card reader for the $740 total and hed make the adjustments. I declined and canceled the card transaction and asked him to re-ring the car. He did, to a total of 266.38, still 19 cents more than what the reservation stated would be due at pickup (plus the $200 debit hold). I told him go ahead that while it still wasnt right, 19 cents was a small price to pay to stop working with them.During this time another agent started processing the customers in line behind us and processed 4 customers in line behind us in the time it took John to get our single car rental correct.Fast forward to that night when I checked my bank account and found a hold for the $740 John had initially tried to charge me.I called the customer service number and was told that they were going to continue to hold the extra $280 dollars until the return of the car(at the end of our trip). Making that money unavailable for the duration of our vacation.When I expressed to John how long wed had to wait before he came out his answer was simply theres nothing I can do about it. When I expressed to him how even after he re-entered the reservation and the price was still wrong(albiet only 19 cents), he blamed it on a change in taxes and stated I understand that your frustrated but theres nothing I can do about it which evidently included charging me the agreed upon price.Then comes the actual car selection. He told me there are 11 stalls for which we can select a vehicle. Get out to the lot and there was 1 car left, meaning there was no chosing, it was take what everyone else didnt want.Needless to say between Johns complete incompetence and Customer Services unwillingness to assist until the vehicle is returned, I will NEVER rent another car from Dollar again.

Had a very poor customer service experience with this company. We rented a Yaris on a trip to Nashville and were shocked to get a $120 charge upon returning the car as we were charged $9.99/gallon to refuel the vehicle. Upon calling customer service all the blame was put on the customer for not reading the fine print. We were at the airport, had travelled for hours, were in a different time zone and were exhausted. If you are going to charge me 3x what a normal rate is for something you should VERBALIZE that, use a highlighter to highlight that on the contract and have someone initial beside it and then not blame the customer. Will never use them again.

We were extremely unsatisfied with Dollar Car Rental, as we had prepaid the car in Australia before we had even left to go on holiday. They told us one price in writing for Taxes and One Way Fee never offered us Insurance and we werent going to take it as we had Travel Insurance to cover it, only to find that they had over charged my Visa Card an extra $67.73. Then as we couldnt find a Petrol Station to fill up the remaining half a tank they charged us $113.00. I would never recommend this Car Rental Company. Also when I called to confirm the car, I asked if it came with a GPS I was told yes but when we were picking up the car they wanted to charge me for it. Huge joke of a company one person says one thing and another person says differently.

Paid and reserved in advance for a mustang convertible or similar... Once we arrived we were informed that they did not have any convertibles and also would not provide a similar 2 door car. They gave us a choice of a charger or a Impala neither car I particularly like. Well we opted for the charger, once we left the terminal the low tire pressure light came on within a 1/2 mile for the right rear tire so we had to go back to swap cars delaying our trip.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. We rented a car over Christmas and the man working the counter was rude and unprofessional from the moment we walked up. Something was wrong with his credit card reader, so he took a separate card to hold the reservation and manually entered the supplemental information himself, having us verbally answer questions before signing. He asked questions I have never had to answer during a car rental (like social security number?) and was overall rude and condescending. When we returned the car, the cost was double what we were quoted, and we noticed that insurance had been selected by the employee upon receiving the car, despite declining coverage in the reservation (Expedia) and retrieval of the car. The manager gave us his number to reach him to settle the issue once we flew home, which turned out to be wrong. We not only got an incorrect voicemail using this number, but he never followed up as he stated he would after the holidays. Several run around phone calls later, with local and corporate representatives sending us to automated dead ends or incorrect recipients, the issue has still not been resolved. They say that because they have my signature, I agreed to the insurance, even though I never was given the option to review things on the keypad, and the employee clearly added the charges (whether mistakenly or intentionally) himself. Any other company would have checked records, questioned the employee as to what happened that day, or at the very least, offered options to make this situation right.

My wife and I visited Nashville in September for our one year anniversary and rented a car for a day from dollar rental. We took the car to Lynchburg to see the Jack Daniels distillery. We returned the car the next day and later that afternoon we realized we left our camera in the center console of the car with all the pictures from JD. My wife immediately contacted dollar rental and informed them about it and they looked up the car and said it hadnt been rented yet. So all we had to do is submit the lost and found form on line and they would look for it and call us back.... crickets they never contacted us back we called them 3 or 4 times and nothing.... 3 months later and still nothing from them. My wife sent a email about it to Hertz which is a parent company of dollar and they forwarded it to Nashville and.. crickets. The only logically explanation to why we never heard anything back is because an employee got a new camera or else we would have it back. As newly weds that travel frequently and have many years of renting cars in our future I dont recommend or intend on using them in the future.

Chose managers special as it was same price as standard but thought they might be willing to upgrade me. They instead downgraded me to an economy. I cant even fit one suitcase in the trunk. Im disabled with a broken foot and also was with my baby- there was no shuttle from the airport to the lot. It was a long walk and thank God someone offered to help me or I would have been stuck. The lady at the counter was absolutely nasty to me because I declined insurance (had it through my credit card). Will not use them again.

I had a good experience. It took a while to register again to get the car at the airport after registering on line. You have to wait at two places to get the car and there is no direct shuttle to the cars. Nice cars Nice rates

Counter service was good but there were only 2 people working. The lot service was horribly slow. Woman checking people out was taking about 10 minutes per car. Finally a nice gentleman walked up to me in line and checked me out in about 3 minutes.

We spent 15 extra minutes at the check out counter because Dollar was not charging the rate quoted on the reservation. They were able to resolve the issue after I caught a proposed $62 overcharge and apologized for the mistake. Other than that, everything went well and the car was good.

Booked it online. Initial price was $600 for 9 days. we picked up a Nissan Maxima from Nashville and drop in New Orleans. Only to find out when we were at the airport that it is actually $1200 with the most basic insurance!!! I give them 3 stars just because the car was clean and nice.

Horrible location in regards to employee trust. Left some brand new items in the vehicle and they were stolen by the employees in this location. Not to mention, this is a company that does not offer a direct line to the desk at this location and when you call for service, they will hang up on you multiple times. Very disappointed on how they treat their customers. I will never rent a car from Dollar again, especially this location.

Will not rent from Dollar Rent a car again. The staff was not friendly (Scotty) and very rude. The car had a terrible rattle in the engine and we couldnt go over 50 without the car shaking. Very unstable. The key remote didnt work either and the car wasnt clean. Explained to gentleman when we returned he didnt seem to care so my husband reiterated how bad it was and so he finally said he would take it out of service.They also didnt offer to pay for filling up the car when we rented so when we came to return he said it would be $9/gallon where we didnt pay up front. Explained no one mentioned we had to pay up front or we would have because thats always how weve done it when weve rented other agencies before.

On the 9th when we returned the car (as that’s what I was instructed to do by someone I spoke with on the phone when arranging to get the tire replaced) I spoke with Tyrone in person at the airport car rental space who said just grab another car and that’s it. I informed him my anger with dollar and how this was the 3rd car we had in 4 days and now going onto our 4th car where we didn’t want to grab another car as we didn’t know the reliability of the cars out there as the first 2 had car engine problems and the third one was just the tyre. I also mentioned how the tyre was flat on the day of the wedding and when I spoke to someone on the phone to arrange someone to fix the tyre it was an 1-2 hr call out and repair job where he didn’t want to send someone out instead wanted me to go to the airport and just replace the car before the wedding. After arguing how I’m not missing a wedding just to replace the car for 30 minutes he then said to call back when I’m at the church where they’ll send someone to come out to fix it which I did. I missed half the wedding reception as I was constantly getting calls (and automated calls) from dollar and Nissan (the car we were driving at the time) and the tow truck company asking where the car is? Has the job been done? I’m outside? I got 6 phone calls all from different people and constantly running outside to find no one out there. Thankful the car was fixed during the wedding reception. When telling Tyrone this story he agreed that was unacceptable and he was sorry where he was going to give me a $50 voucher where I wasn’t happy with that as we paid a lot for a car and been inconvenienced a lot throughout the 4 days along with the fact the car we’ll be returning was 3/4th tank filled. He agreed to refund the fuel cost charges and said “go upstairs tell them I sent you where I’m going to call her now to say you’re coming and she’ll tell you what car is reliable to take with use and when you come back on the 11th return the car and show them this paperwork so they don’t charge you for the fuel” I did that and they didn’t even want to look at the paperwork as they said they don’t need to see it and it’s all fine.

Service at counter and the lot was great. No issues there.The issue was with the cars, which seem to vary greatly at Dollar throughout the country. Some places the Compact Car selection is really that - like a Corolla or Accent. Here is Nashville the Compacts and Economy were both mostly cheap econo boxes. After walking around for about 10 minutes finally found a Nissan Versa (sad to say) as the only Compact car that had cruise control. The Versa is not a bad car, but it is also more an Economy class than a Compact class.Like I said this varies from state to state.

Gave them a two star because they tried really hard to fix the problem. We ordered a minivan so we can transport our booth for a trade show we were attending. When we arrived, they said they did not have anything available, so they gave us a sedan, and told us we had to come back the next day. We drove back to the airport the next day, they gave us the van, only to find out the seats were broken, which did not allow us to fold the seats down (the entire reason why we needed a van in the first place). They gave us an older van, which struggled.,,,, Thank goodness we are patient, because this was a mess!

NEVER AGAIN! THE GUY AT THE AIRPORT LOCATION ADVISED ME THE $407 THAT DECLINED (WHICH IT DID NOT) FROM my debit card would be refunded and it has NOT. Now Im being told, by customer service overseas I have to wait a damn week for a mistake I didnt cause for a vehicle I dont have or ever rented??? WTF??!! . This is my bill and gas money. This is the worst rental car experience ever. I used one toll road and they charge me the toll (which is ok and was $3.45) plus $15!!! administrative fee which is ridiculous. I will go with a serious rental car company next time that does not rip me off ...
