I have brought my cars here for years. I have always experienced good customer service and have never had any one of their repairs require any follow-up.
We were in from Tennessee when our car started to run and drive poorly. After contacting 4 other repair shops I called Specialty. Whiney and Sharon, customer service were very nice and professional. They made a point to work us in. The repair was taken care of quickly, better than the dealership by far, and the price was very reasonable! So pleased with STA and highly recommend them! The truck drove better living there than it did going in good work theyre calling me back with details a little lacking but I still think they do awesome work
Very nice people and very accommodating. They gave me a ride home after I dropped my truck off, then came and picked me up once they finished my truck. Quick turn around as well on a full transmission rebuild. My truck runs great now and Ill be coming back to them for any other work.

I was in Mobile Alabama, this past week and my check engine light came on. Not only was it on but, flashing as well, which means its dangerous. Excellent customer service!!! Long story short...flat towing our jeep 4x4 on our summer vacation from Florida to Colorado, we forgot to slip the transfer case into to neutral,😭 stopping for the night in Mobile, its then we realize our misfortune. That afternoon, we spoke with Whitney at Specialty, gave her a brief discription of our situation, they got us in the following morning and installed a new transmission in just a couple of days. She and her team worked wonders to keep us on schedule. They communicated with us daily and kept us in the loop. We are currently in New Orleans driving the Pontchartrain, in our jeep!....couldnt be happier!!! Thank you Whitney and your team.

I had a very good experience there. My A/C blowers were operating, but it was not cooling at all. I had first taken it to a well-known and supposedly respected company that specializes in auto air conditioning repair, and was told I needed a new compressor plus other parts to the tune of over $1,500. Specialty Transmission & Auto did a dye test, which they said the other company had not done, and all that was needed was a cleaning and replacement freon for only $153. The a/c cools very well now. They are very pleasant and, I believe, honest, and I would recommend them to anyone.
This is the BEST automotive service Ive ever had in my life!!!! The customer service is AWESOME!!! My check engine light was on in my Mazda 3, I went 2 several places 2 find out why. I was first told Id need a catalytic converter from another repair shop. I was then referred 2 STA for a diagnosis from McDonald Muffler who then referred me 2 STA, cause McDonald Muffler said I DO need a catalytic converter. Well, Specialty Automotive Transmission did a diagnosis, and that was not what I needed at all. They fixed the problem!! My check engine light is no longer on. They even fixed my horn, which had been broken 4 two years! I recommend them whole heartedly 2 anyone whose having car problems!! I will never take my car anywhere else!!!!

I took my 2008 land rover in not knowing what was wrong. They diagnosed the problem very quickly and fixed it at a very reasonable price without finding other things wrong that really didnt need to be fixed like a lot of places do. Very courteous and very professional I reccomend if you need anything done to any kind of car this is the place to come.

We were traveling in our RV from Florida to South Dakota when the transmission started acting up. After contacting several shops, Specialty Transmission was the ONLY one to say yes we can see you right away. (Most said it would be 3-4 days). They got us right in and let us know that they could get us back on the road within a couple of hours! They did not take advantage of our need to get back on the road and only charged us for a fluid/filter change. I highly recommend this shop for their integrity and willingness to help our family get back on our vacation!
This review cannot convey just how helpful the entire staff was at Specialty Transmission & Auto. We were traveling from Texas to Florida when our transmission started having big problems. Being July 4th weekend and close to 5pm, three shops turned us away and said they could not do anything until Monday. We came across Specialty Transmission and gave them a call. When we arrived the whole staff was friendly and welcoming. Jody (the owner)was professional and extremely helpful. He explained everything, even let me back in their workshop to show me everything that was wrong with my transmission and the new parts he was going to put in. (I usually work on my own cars, but this kind of work is way beyond me. So i really appreciated that he took the time to give me a little transmission 101.)We needed a complete transmission rebuild. We were literally stuck, multiple hotel nights was not an option . Thankfully, we came upon the right place. Jody and his team stayed all night and into the morning to get us back on the road, our car was ready at 10 am the next day. They shuttled us back and forth from the hotel, recommended a really good restaurant, and worked hard to get me and my kids back on the road. Thanks to the help and kindness we avoided a vacation disaster.

I was in Mobile for work from out of state, when my car started making a whining noise. I called ST&A at 8:15 in the morning, and Jody told me to come right in. 45 minutes later, after driving my car around and putting it up on a lift, he found a twig lodged deeply in the undercarriage. He was prompt, polite, gave me his undivided attention, and didnt even charge me for his time. I would definitely recommend ST&A to anyone!
They repaired my Jaguar better than even the dealership had. It runs like it did when it was new. I HIGHLY recommend them.
Do not take your care to this shop! I took my daughters car to this shop because she had a transmission leak. Its suppose to be a free estimate but they wanted to charge me a fee to power wash the transmission because they claim that they could not tell where the leak was but they claimed they thought it was at the main seal where the transmission comes together and quoted me a price of 1500.00 and depending on if anything needs to be fixed in the transmission it could be more. I took her car to Transmission Magician in Tillmans corner at 8 the next morning and at 8:05 they found the leak and said it would be a 100 dollars to fix and there was no other fees. That just a goes to show you this shop will rip you off!!! Always get a second opinion.
Please please do not take your car to this shop. They will mess your car up like they did my car. Getting my paper work together for a law suit...please call me so I can tell you about my experience with them 366-3774....when you take your car from them and take it to the dealership they will make phone calls to the dealership and lie so the dealership wont fix your car....Thank God for the professionalism at McConnell Mercedes Automotive.

My wifes transmission went out in her Hybrid Tahoe. The dealership quoted us just over $6000 to replace it. We desperately called transmission shops and mechanics to find a cheaper route. Apparently there are no other shops that have the equipment or knowledge to tackle a hybrid transmission. We finally found the crew at Specialty. They were up front, honest, and stayed in constant contact with us. They were able to repair the transmission and get my wife and three kids back on the road for far less than the dealer quoted us. Tim and the rest of the folks at Specialty went above and beyond for us from the first time we called. I would highly recommend them to everyone!

All I can say is expect to pay at least double what they say it will cost. I put my car in their shop a couple of years ago. It needed a new transmission, and they quoted me $1700. Then it went up to $1900, and by the time it was FINALLY ready to pick up, I showed up only to be asked for $2700 out of my pocket. I am waiting so long to leave a review because one of my friends recently took her car here and had the same experience. She just told me today that they had quoted her a price and now almost a month later the total has over tripled. No communication or terrible communication at best. I felt extremely robbed and so does my friend. This is the type of shop that gives mechanics a bad name for ripping people off.

Once again the staff exemplified exceptional customer service. Over the years I have relied on them to help with decisions regarding repairs and maintenance on my families vehicles.Recently I made a phone call to the shop and explained my dilemma regarding one of our vehicles needed repairs. I anticipated spending nearly two thousand dollars to resolve the various issues. After making arrangements to have the vehicle picked up and inspected I waited in angst. Two days later I couldnt believe my ears when they confirmed the final bill was $421. I asked how is that possible when my uncle paid another repair facility $1837 for a similar repair ? Their response was that they had seen this problem before and rather than replacing the whole unit they knew which components to replace. It seems to me that they could have made more money by the performing the full replacement but instead chose to fix it as if it were there own. Therein is the reason I will always choose to seek their advice. Thank You Specialty.
Specialty Transmission in Mobile, AL. has a customer for life here.They recently did some repair work for me prior to a 2500-mile return trip home. That evening following the repair work, after getting 200 miles out of town, there was a problem with a defective bushing. The transmission developed a significant leak, rendering the vehicle undriveable. It was after business hours, but I called Specialty Transmission and was able to reach Jody, the owner. Jody called Jared, a friend of his who lived nearby. Jared came out to where we were stranded during a torrential downpour, assessed the problem, and arranged for a tow to a nearby hotel. Jody got on the phone and started looking for replacement parts. He found them first thing the next morning, drove 200 miles, and with Jareds help (and the use of his lift) personally replaced the defective part, along with a couple of related parts, just to make absolutely sure there wouldnt be any more trouble. We were on our way within a couple of hours, and the vehicle performed trouble-free the entire 2500-mile trip home, driving some days as many as 15 hours.If youre thinking about having transmission work done in Mobile, AL. by anyone other than Specialty Transmission, you should reconsider. I originally took my Dodge Durango to the dealer when the transmission started having problems. The dealer quoted me over $1000 and could not explain to me to the problem. I went to Specialty explained what whats going on and what the dealer told me. After a few hours, they called explained the problem completely, what needed to be fixed, and the exact amount it would cost to fix, less than the dealer quoted. Took them a little over a day and they had my Durango running better than before! Bonus they parked my car under a tree with the windows cracked. When its over 90 degrees, its the little things that count!!
This place is the worst! I will never take my car there again. They never call you. I always had to call them. I called after my car was up there for 3 days and I asked if it was finshed they said oh yea, its done come and get it well then why didnt you call me!!! So Im sure it was just sitting up their for days finished! they are not knowledgeable. One guy told me Chrysler made my Mitsubishi wrong it was imported from Japan. I should have taken it elsewhere right then. My alternator kept going out and I told them that this is a common problem with Monteros and that oil leaks on the alternator and that I read online that its the cam bore plug seals. So I asked if they could check them. Well the didnt and they said it was my power steering pump leaking (which was barely leaking) so that was $400 to replace. Well shortly after my alternator went out again! took it somewhere else and the mechanic reached his hand down on the alternator and sure enough his finger was covered in oil! Oh and the pump they put on is making a loud rattling noise. They use crappy parts (advanced auto parts) they never call when they say they will. I WILL never take my car their again!

Had the fuel pump replaced supposedly free of charge because the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors didnt fix the problem we took my jeep in for and now theyre holding it hostage there because we have to pay a $560 bill for a new fuel pump that we were told would be done under warranty. Absolute worst auto maintenance shop experience ive ever had. Stay away and tell everyone you know to stay away. They need to be put out of business...
I was a terrible nightmare. My car was in the shop for over 2 and a half weeks. I cannot begin to tell you how many horrible experiences I had with this place. Now, 3 days after I get my car back...I drop my convertible top and when I go to close it...it wont close. Come to find out the passenger arm of the top is bent. This was not an issue when I took my car into this shop. The issues were: 1. I had my power steering pump replaced and it would not power off when the ignition was turned to off. 2. Possibly a bad idler pullley. 3. Quiet possible the alternator could be bad because there was a noise in the area, which could have been either the idler pulley or the alternator. Well, it was all of the listed, plus a power steering fan motor. So, whats up with the convertible top? Its bent!! Yes, BENT. I am livid. I wonder how this happened? May have been the numerous phone calls I made inquiring about my car. They never call back. We were told twice that it was ready ..it wasnt. So many lies. And, we took it in with a half a tank of gas and when we left it was on empty. I know and understand that you have to test drive and run a car to insure its fixed, but a half a tank on a MINI. That is some running. As for cost.... expect to pay double of the estimate and be ready to be treated like an idiot. I caught them in numerous lies and they made 2 attempts to add money to their wallet. It didnt work. I guess they thought they could confuse me with how the core exchange works. I had a lifetime part and they thought they were going to reap the benefits of the core that was sitting in my car. I knew it was there when I left my car there. I seriously did not think they would take from me. I was wtong. They said it wasnt there, but I stood strong. I knew it was there. It was strange that as I drove off a mechanic trotted to my truck with it in hand. I returned it to the automotive store and got a new one. Well, it ends up that they say it is not right and they bought one from their dealer. So when I went back to get my car I asked for the part back, since it was new and unused...AND MINE!! They said they had to give it to their parts supplier for a core. Well, no! I had to argue the fact that indeed that was MY part. Pure stupidity!! THEY FINALLY UNDERSTOOD AND EVEN WENT TO PICK UP MY PART FROM THEIR DEALERSHIP.Anyway, I have a great attorney and I will resolve this issue. This place is not going to see this MINI again.The only good I can say for the place is Tim, the guy up front is a nice person. As for Whitney, I think that is her name, not a nice person to deal with.This was my second rodeo with this place. The first was a bit expensive, but it did fix the problem. I seriously dont think they know what they are doing. They stumble into a car at the owners expensive. Its a hide and go seek game for them. But, the car owner always gets found and shaffted.I do not think the quality of their work is good.So, Ive warned you. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES TO PUT A BAND AID ON A WOUND THAT NEEDS STITCHES.THEY WILL MESS YOUR CAR UP AND YOU WILL BE WISHING YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN YOUR CAR THERE.I have had some serious problems with things such as restaurants etc. but Ive never taken time to write a review. My time is more valuable than pecking at this keyboard. But, if I can save one person from falling into their trap...Its worth my while. I regret the cash I threw away there. Please, please...dont let them get you.

The guy that runs it as of recently,Bruce appears to be a major a*shole. He is loud, abrasive and rude on the phone and doesnt acknowledge what you are asking. Seems very ignorant and assuming, and doesnt listen to you, knows everything. I will not ever take my car there again.
