Good gym, but if you sign up for a year theyll keep charging even after your membership had expired. Poor accounting and keeping track of records. I Will never get a membership here again, would recommend planet fitness way more.
Great gym management is the best, Brandon always goes.abive and beyond to help and to be of service to all the members. staff is very helpful and the gym is clean
Shame on who ever the gal is working tonight!!! My son and I have been scouting gyms and the one night I have him go without me, his friend volunteered to take him there in my place. My son and his friend gets treated rudely and the gal was very unprofessional. Totally not okay to treat a teenager the way she did for no reason! She did not suffice any qualifications for customer service. My son is so kind, and it infuriates me that some gal was rude to him! Really? WOW! Her character just lost two interested people for a membership, plus more people who have been waiting for us to find a gym so they could get one as well. good on ya. I would recommend calling first to see if the desk gal is even in a good mood before even stepping foot in this gym!!!! Wow!!! I would love a call from the owner or manager, an apology is definitely needed.
Super chill, nice people, nice clients, not intimidating, you can just do whatcha need to do and they let you do your thing.
Very clean unlike other big gyms in town. Great equipment with that old school bodybuilding feel.
I joined Ridge for the kickboxing classes, the majority of if not all of the Title coaches teach at Ridge. Their knowledge and pure dedication to giving their clients the best workout during these classes, really makes you want to come back. Rachel, Wendy, and Amy really push you to perform and make progress. That also includes all of the other workout classes offered at Ridge. The staff and coaches are friendly and helpful. You get a friendly hello and goodbye, if not go up to the front desk; sit down and enjoy a nice conversation with whomever is working the front desk. The two draw backs I see are the outdated equipment and lack of space. It seems like there are at least two treadmills or stair-steppers that are out of order. Having to watch your step on the stair-steppers because one if not two of the actual steps are broken, does not let you enjoy your workout. It is also very hard to find space during peak hours. It would be nice if their electronic equipment and tanning beds were updated. This is a great place to workout and I hope Ridge will think about upgrading their equipment a little bit, to keep their returning customers and bring in more as well. If you are looking for a gym to start out at or looking for a good workout environment, try Ridge first.
After reading all these previous comments, I had to write a review:First off, yes the locker room is a little crammed, but so are others (for example the peak downtown isnt much better, at least in the area of the actual lockers and the bench where you change). The staff is usually very good and friendly, and yes, sometimes there is nobody at the front desk for a short period of time. I went to the Peak last year to try it out, and let me tell you, the staff seems not friendly at all. Even though there is somebody at the front counter, what seems to be at all times, they often dont even acknowledge that you are even here....The trainers, especially Taylor, at Golds Gym are amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and NO sexual related talks or harassment. I am a female in her 20s, and dont appreciate or tolerate this sort of behavior, so I would know if that is an issue. Yes, you can get sucked into groups that are loud and annoying, but if you go there just to get your workout in, you wont have any problems. As for billing, maybe there are some cancellation issues, but I personally never had any problems (in over 5 years). We froze our account a few times, and the billing was always fine.Overall I would say that it is a great gym if you are on a budget. The cost is relatively low and you are surrounded by a lot of people that know how to work out properly and can help if you have any questions. The classes offered are good and the 24/7 hours of operation are great!
By far my favorite gym Ive been to in Missoula, let alone Montana. Extremely clean and diverse equipment, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and competitive rates, with below average fees. There are plenty of quality classes included with the membership, as well as free tanning. No gymtimidation, just gymspiration in this awesome little world of working hard for the cause of badassery.
LOVE the boxing classes - best of anywhere in town! Friendly, encouraging to be your best, and good coaching for technique. Casual and non-judgmental atmosphere overall. I always can access equipment I want, good enough variety and usually in good condition - some failure every once in a while, but seem to get things fixed quickly. (member for more than 1 year)
Great equipment and space, but unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Like walking in on group of friends who dont want you there. ::9 months ago::Update:It’s been a while since I have been to Ridge, and either the staff changed or they got an attitude adjustment because it is a lot better. Very welcoming, I am greeted with a smile every time I come in. No matter what time it is.
Been going for a long time, amazing staff, and at a great price. Cant wait until it re opens!
Love this gym, its my home away from home! Great prices, excellent staff! Best gym in town, best equipment, and best trainers. We take our daughter into the day care every day and the staff is always happy to see us and takes great care of our daughter. We have never had any billing issues or anything, and nothing but the best of service!
Least expensive membership fees Ive ever had! Staff and members are always friendly. Equipment is in great condition, facilities are clean, and trainers are awesome! If I ever need anything, employees are quick to help in any way they can. I always feel welcome when I go to workout at Golds! I would recommend this gym to anyone! :)
Been coming for years! Everyone here is very in tune with whatever results you want... Very attentive. Love the variety of classes and times they are available. Would definitely recommend all joini g here! Makes for a wild ride!
Great place if you like to work out early
They are a great place, several different classes are offered there, they have a complete gym, a tanning bed, saunas, and a health bar as well. Plus there not overly expensive. Oh and they have child care while you work out!
I went to this gym for a year and a half. I really enjoyed the fact that they had a free tanning bed and that there equipment was kept clean. My cousin and I got a joined account for a decent price. I planned on moving and had to cancel the account. Three years later as I returned to Missoula I found out that they kept charging me for both my cousin and I’s account. Without any sort of notice, no email, no call, nothing. I was now in collections over $700. I called multiple times asking to speak with a manager and was always told I would be reached by someone with in a few days. I never received a call. I decided to just go into the gym to speak with someone in person, when I asked for a manager the man working said he can do his best to help, there was no manager there. He told me “ You are already in collections there is nothing you can do”. This whole experience obviously left a bad taste in my mouth and I would not recommend choosing Ridge as your everyday gym. Very unhelpful staff that don’t really seem to care about members.
I have been waiting to get my membership cancelled. I was told that I would have to wait for the gym manager to speak with the owner inorder for me to cancel my membership. So that means I have to continue to keep paying my membership monthly so it doesnt go to collections and lower my credit score. I had one trainer that got fired, lied and told the managers that I no longer had any sessions left. After this I really wanted to be done with the gym but it was basically pushed on me to try another trainer and seemed like I wouldnt be able to get my money back. Also the trainer I had at first had me pay $500 for 12 sessions and a meal/workout plan was $25 for each plan. Since it was me and my girlfriend it was $25/person. I got another trainer through the gym but the trainer was very disrespectful in her communication with me. So I decided I want my money back and Im done with the gym. I called and spoke with manager they informed me they still would have to talk to the owner about a refund/cancelling my membership. I have been waiting almost two weeks for a phone call/response. I guess Ill never get it but I recommended not going to this gym theyll screw you out of hundreds of dollars and not even think twice.
I was skeptical about joining Ridge at first because its a new gym, new environment, and the stereotype that use to be Golds/Ridge. However, I have since fallen in love with being a member at Ridge. The staff are all very welcoming and the members are as well. People show up to Ridge to work and get results and that is what I love about it.The fact that it is open 24/7 I cant make excuses to not go and everything that is part of the membership. The classes kick my butt and who doesnt love a good sweat in the sauna or tanning bed.
I have been a member for seven years and the quality of the facilities are fantastic. I highly recommend this gym for all your work out needs. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful in every way.
Great Health Club! they Got Some Of the Best Free Weights and Helpful staff around. They have a great steam shower and shower.
I have been a member at Golds for about 3 years. This is an amazing gym. Great equipment, nice friendly staff, and easy ways to pay. I would recommend this gym to anyone that is looking to make a change in their life, or just keep in shape.
Never had a gym charge me to try it out, most give you a free day. Also the staff has no intention of answering new comer questions. Why would you try to force someone into a 12 month contract if you have no interest in explaining the benefits or offering information? Guess ill try a different gym tomorrow.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS GYM. They ripped me off of about $121 dollars after I canceled my contract. They have all kinds of sneaky fine print where they can keep billing you even after you cancel your contract because of 30 day cancellation notices (that they sneak in in super fine print) and late fees. NEVER GO HERE. GO TO BLUE MOUNTAIN, ACCESS FITNESS, OR ANY OTHER FINE GYM IN MISSOULA.
Pretty great atmosphere! Great people too, everyones pretty friendly especially when it comes to giving each other tips!
Was lied to about contract and been paying for two years without knowing. I talked to the manager Brandon. He stands behind tricking people that cant read or write well. I would completely stop working out if they had the last stuff on the planet. I pretty much paid for a machine or two in there and havent stepped a foot in there in almost two years. This is how corporate business squishes the little guy.
I love Golds of Missoula!! Best service, friendliest staff, great atmosphere and always open. The daycare is phenomenal too - the same weekday person has been there for years, that tells you a lot about the place. My kids love her and I honestly feel like she loves them - thats so important me!! Thank you Golds!!
Oula classes sre great! Convenient location near rosaurs.
Good coed environment. Great workout without hassle
Poor management. DO NOT trust these people with your credit card and do not hire their trainers. Trainers are unprofessional and teach improper techniques and offer nothing to the serious minded athlete.
Decent machines and always clean. staff is friendly and always willing to help.
BUYER BEWARE -I hope my experience will encourage others to not join this gym or any gym that takes advantage of their customers. Its too bad, this gym is really nice and I liked it a lot, while I was a member. This is where the nightmare begins. Sometime in Feb of 2011 my contract ended with Golds. They started me out with a 6 month membership with NO renewal. They charged my account for 6 months as agreed. So I stopped going to the gym. Fast forward 7 months later after the contract ended on September 2011 they started to add monthly fees and dues on my account without charging my bank account. Now just so people know they had my current account information. To this day my account information is still the same. Now why didnt they pull it out of my account directly? I did not receive a bill from this company and they had my current mailing information. They also had my current cell phone number. They could have easily called and said you havent paid your bill or your account is past due. No communication. Now fast forward to October 2012. 1 year after no contact from Golds. I get a letter in the mail from a collection bureau in Missoula. Stating that I owe $116 plus collection fees from the Collection Agency. Just a tip for people dealing with a credit collection company these people are vicious. Always send a certified letter asking for contracts, payments and current charges with dates and times. The collection agency did get back to me with the contract that I did not read. This is the last time I would ever make this mistake. Apparently you need to send Golds gym a cancellation letter (certified) stating that you are canceling your account. It is right there in the contract. It doesnt matter if it says you have 6 months. The collection agency said supply me with the certified letter of cancellation and I will remove the charges. Since I could not supply them with a letter I could not prove that it was canceled even though there is a 7 month gap of no charges. So buyer beware. For this amount of money you can buy P90X along with some weights and work out at home.
Great staff & faculty
Nice gym..clean..not too crowded.
EXPLICIT SEXUAL DISCUSSION FROM STAFF: During one of my regular workout days, I entered the gym and in to a conversion taking place behind the counter about sex parties. - Keep it professional.STAFF WILL VIOLATE YOUR PERSONAL SPACE: I was in need of a sweat towel, I noticed that there were some at the edge of the counter just one step behind the counter - I waited for a staff member but no one - I reached behind and grabbed one, Magically a staff member appears!! and proceeds to get right in my face and says this isnt Wal-M nor F***ing K-Mart, your not allowed be hind the counter at all.
Always a great wofkout. Stay at the Sleep inn and you can workout for free when in town.......
Golds Gym is conviently located next to Rosauers on Reserve and after moving to Missoula back in 2005 I tried just about every gym in town, including the no longer Missoula Athletic Club and I found for the price that this gym had all the free weights I needed as well as excellent cardio options as you watch football. Furthermorem they offer a whole list of classes with day care from yoga to karate. As they say, working out isnt an action, its a state of mind and they offer the best place to train your mind as well as your body.
Awesome service n nice people
Great workers and fairly priced
Not such friendly staff. Not willing to show you around. I got a I don’t care about your visit here attitude from them. “Find your way around and figure out the machines by your self”. That will be $10. Thank you.
Clean, protein bar, over night lockers, nice equipment
Very clean and not overwhelming.
This is a nice, clean gym, with nice people and new equipment.
Clean, friendly gym. The rate is lower than most and is open 24/7 depending on major holidays.
