Kemi and everyone at Bonita’s were so fantastic! I got a full sew-in and it turned out great! I struggle with hair loss and Kemi worked a miracle! I now have a full head of hair and have had a wonderful experience to go along with it. The only hiccup that occurred was because the company that makes the hair sent the wrong color, but Kemi made sure to keep me in the loop and got the correct color shipped in right away. I love my hair and will definitely be returning!

I got my hair done last Monday here by two women. They both did a really good job and i’m really really happy with how my hair turned out. They made sure I was comfortable and okay with how they wer doing my hair, although they’re the professionals❤️❤️❤️❤️. This is an amazing business! Kemi does a fantastic job at hair extensions and is very pleasant, friendly, and professional to work with as her customer. The extensions are very worth the price - they look great and natural and stay tight for 8 weeks or even longer the way Kemi does them. I also bought the hair from her and am very happy with it - it is in good shape and smooth/soft to this day after getting extensions with same hair three times now. I highly recommend!

She went out of her way taking her time on my hair, and giving me great tips to better care for my hair. I made an appointment online and on the day of my appointment I called about 30 minutes or so before and asked if they had hair there or if I needed to bring my own hair. I then showed up for my appointment on time just to be told she was behind and I was asked to come back in 2 hours well an hour and a half. I understand things happen so I agreed to come back. When I came back she still wasn’t able to start my hair I was told another 30 minutes. I waited a little but just decided to go home I wasn’t going to spend my money at this place. I was not impressed and being a first time customer I was really disappointed.

This place is terrible!! I had a sew in down and the braids were so tight that scabs and sores are all over my scalp. I only had it in for three days . I cried the whole time my mom took it out. I called asking for a refund for the 225 service charge which is way too expensive. They denied my request. It ended up being a huge loss of hair and money. Thankfully I took it out in time or I wouldve been bald. TERRIBLE!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY.

I’m often the unofficial secretary of my home and all 3 adult wanted their hair done. I attempted to call to get pricing since this would be a new location for all of us. The lady I spoke with on the phone was very short with me and told me to set up the appointments online and before I could ask questions she hung up. Ok, fine.. I set the appointments and on each one I left a note. The first one was easy… he wanted simple braids. The second one was for an older woman who wanted microbraids. I was sure to set the note to reflect that since talking to the lady led to me being disconnected on. And lastly there was me and I wanted cornrows that came back to a single French braid. The site states that they take some credit cards and still states it at the time this review is written.On Friday the older lady went in. She was told that they don’t do micro braid so she went to box braids. Then she advised that she did not take credit card. I wouldn’t be so upset if she would have emailed or advised or just stayed on the phone long enough to let me ask the questions…. But she decided on box braid and paid as requested.The next morning it was my and the gentlemen’s turn. I was already skeptical since what happened to his mother the day prior but he convinced me to go ahead and come on in…..On my appointment notes, I had requested info on price but received no response so I estimated with what I knew of previous times that I had brought cash in comparison. While boasting on her site about having some of the best prices, her price was over double on what I ended up paying at another braider and almost double for him. She didn’t have the hair (which this is probably the one thing I would not blame her for as I’m a red head).The whole reason that we went to her is because I wanted to see about extensions that she advertises. If she could braid my hair well (something that I could take down on my own) then I would have trusted her on doing extensions which is something my current braider does not do.I think after attempting to call and leaving notes on the appointments and no communications back to us for services PLUS the pricing that she quotes, this is one place that I will be refusing to ever go to.. make an appointment for.. or have any business dealings.The good thing that did come from this interaction:I told my current braider about the situation and she is going to open up the service for me. The poor service and communication here got us talking about how I can get this done…

I had my locs started by this company. I initially had palm roll twist but changed to interlocking. I receive service every 3-4 months. Bonitas is a friendly establishment and provides excellent service. Very knowledgeable about hair health and hair care.

I got a weave done here and the braids were way too tight and there is too much leave out. She also couldn’t style my hair well. The sew in was very painful and i wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I ended up having to take it out after 3 days.

Do not get a sew in here!!! The lady that was doing my hair ties my real hair in knots!! I lost soooo much hair.... very disappointing. However the lady’s that work there are sweet and welcoming. Unfortunately nice won’t cut it ......

When I discovered Bonitas, I was excited to find another (seemingly) highly-rated black-owned business so close to my house.First attempt: I went to the website, saw the appointment times I was targeting were open, and called ahead because I had a few questions. She informed me that they were closed on the day I had in mind, despite the website stating otherwise. She apologized, and informed me that I would have to make another appointment online. I chocked it up to confusion, and thought it was just a mistake.Second attempt: I made an appointment online as requested, received a confirmation email, and made my way to the shop a while later. It appeared to be closed, so I hit the doorbell and waited- no response. After a few minutes I called the business. She answered, I inquired about my appointment, and she then informed me they were closed. I informed her that I scheduled an appointment online, and she just said that they were closed. She didnt apologize, nor did seem apologetic at all. I thought maybe she had read the date wrong, but then she started to blame me for not calling to confirm prior to leaving...and then she hung up. It was totally unprofessional. I returned home, and decided to read the reviews thinking maybe I was an outlier, but and they all seemed to echo the same sentiment- atrocious customer service. I learned my lesson, and will look at the reviews more intently next time I find a salon online.

Had medium sized box braids done at Bonita’s and loved it! There were two stylists that finished my hair in 4hrs, and I have A LOT of hair. The service was done in a timely fashion and the women were very friendly! Would recommend to anyone looking for a clean place to get their hair braided.

This was my first time getting my hair braided like this, so it was all new to me and I had a lot of questions, but Kemi was able to answer everything, give me great advice and guide me thru the process. Stay away from here! The owner has extremely bad energy each time Ive visited. The young ladies who work for her almost seem afraid to speak or move. They sit still, and are quiet like, good little school children. She sits behind the desk not interacting with them or customers. I couldnt wait to get out of that place!

Took my 30hrs Sanitation course with Kemi at Bonita’s and she is very informative and she make sure you take value away from the class. Not only do you get license to do unregulated services in the state of Minnesota in Just 3days. She is a total blessing. The salon is clean and they are located in a safe environment with parking at the back of the building. You will also get hands on training in the 3 day class, which is a plus. She is a blessing and I am happy to have taking my sanitation course from Bonitas.

I love going to this place! I get 14,16,18,20 inches of Indian virgin hair. Its grade 8 hair and very good quality, the hair is able to be different colors and it has great luster. You are also able to reuse the hair up to a year if you take good care of it. The salon is also a comfortable and friendly environment with great service. Its my favorite hair salon to go to and I highly recommend it. If you ever need to get good quality hair extensions, it is the best place in Minneapolis to go.

I went there on may 30th 2020 an got box braids put iny hair. One of the ladys did a nice job an was nice,she also fixed the problem I had with the braids an fixed it when I called.3weeks later I took hair out an an tremendous amount of my own hair came out with he braids. I already an appointment set for July 1st to get hair done again.When I called owner kemi an let her know my hair came out an that I would like a sew in instead of braids she said yes she does sew ins an asked for me to send her a picture of myself so she knows who I am an the hairstyle I want. After she seen who I was she lied an said she does not do sew ins an has to cancel my appointment that was for July 1st. The owner is unprofessional an can come off rude.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted. The shop was so beautiful. It was nicely clean. The shop owner even made my kids feel very welcome. The other women who also braid hair was a joy to be around they interacted with not only their clients but other clients that was also begin served as well. I went in with with washed hair that was all over my head and came out with the most beautiful set of boxed braids (also for a great price). I cant say enough about Bonitas!!! Ive only been there twice, but both times they took such great care of me!My first time there was for a wedding. I was a groomsman, and hadnt had any loc maintenance done in quite a while! I also have a little bit of a bald spot. I was looking for some maintenance, some extensions, and a style that wouldnt look like I was trying to hide my patch too hard.I called on Thursday evening and got in on Friday afternoon. They did an amazing job!The second time was for my own wedding. I booked an appointment online on Thursday and got an appointment on Friday. Kemi did such an incredible job!! My fiance loved it and everyone I know has been raving about my new do!They are fantastic!!

Bonitas is the best extension and hair braiding salon in Minnesota. I came in from new York on a job assignment and was able to get into the salon next day. the owner and staff are very professional and respectful. The salon is very clean and well organized. They also have online scheduling, which work extremely well, as I was able to book from the air plane. My hair was done to perfection and the price was very affordable. I highly recommend this salon.

Positives: neat braids, no wait time, quick service, and convenient because they provide the hairNegatives: extremely rude -comments were made about my weight multiple times. When I explained that I just had a baby, she repeated the comment that I’d gained weight.Takes horrible care of hair - so careless that they made my scalp bleed.And at times lazy, refusing to give me good service- I had to ask multiple times for a conditioner and for them to redo one of the braids on the edges and both times the stylist initially refused rather than just meeting my request for the service.

Last time I had braids was when I was a kid. I’m so glad I went to Bonita’s. The did a great job and they were very fast! Highly recommend!

My experience was horrible and I would never return, the ladies that did my daughter hair was so unprepared in one was sick coughing sneezing all over my daughter while she was doing her hair so unprofessional. I took my 8 year old child to this salon,firstly it was a very clean salon and a kid friendly environment.Secondly, I was told to leave my child and carry on with my day and I will be called once she was done. Which I did, because of the reception of the staffs at this salon.Thirdly, her hair look perfectly done and she told me they gave her hot chocolate and chicken while she was getting her hair done.Having said all this, Bonitas extensions and braids is for certain best salon in Minneapolis for going above and beyond call of duty. Scheduled an appointment for Micro Braids over the phone and online. I recently had a hair cut (due to a relaxer causing breakage and thinning) so most of my hair was only about an inch or so long. When I arrived there was some confusion about what style I was going to get and a discrepancy in pricing (I was told over the phone that it would only be $20 extra to compensate my short hair and when I got to the store it turned out to be $40. I payed $200, from the $160 base they charge for micros). Overall it was the best experience Ive had at a shop. They started right away, I had two women braiding my hair. It was also the quickest Ive ever gotten out of braid shop. I love my micros. The women are all fantastic and really sweet. Ill definitely be back.

I came to Bonita braiding school to take my sanitation class and I had a wonderful experience. My instructor was very patient and very knowledgeable. She is also licensed by the board of cosmetology. The salon is very beautiful and very comfortable and she is very hands on and it made my learning experience very easy to understand. I highly recommend bonitas s braiding school to anyone who is trying to get their sanitation class done.

Recently moved and needed a black hair salon. Saw the reviews and glad I did. Just had kinky twists put in and love it so far. My hair needed a lot of work detangling and conditioning. I went...the owner was actually moving that day but she came in to do my hair. she is a perfectionist...she consulted with me and did a wonderful job explaining the procedure. I was planning on coloring my hair extensions but I liked the dark hair! this review is three weeks late but i am loving it! I recommend her and I know that you will not be disappointed. she offers water and snacks...which I think is great customer service just like a Aveda salon. I will see her again!

Both ladies that braided my hair were great and fast. I got Senegalese twist and I have been getting complaints non stop on them. it took them about 4 hours to braid my hair when it goes to about my butt. Kimmie the owner was teaching a hair class and she is very knowledgable about hair, which I loved listening to. I decently plan on going back!

I got micro braids done and was very pleased with the work. If I could give them a 10 I would. They wasnt just thinking about the money they really cared for my hair. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for extensions or braids or what style that fits their needs.😀😀😀😀😀

This is a very friendly space. They are really goood at what they do and they charge very high as well for it.I definitely recommend.

I love the professionalism and the attention to detail. I am a very picky client and they exceeded all my expectations (even while I was sleeping majority of the time). I’ll definitely make this Salon my new braiding salon.

I don’t like to post bad reviews. However, this may help someone else in the future. Made a same day appointment, drove all the way down from Minnetonka. Arrived early, and I told to sit down, and then to pick out my hair. Then I was informed that I would not be able to be seen for another few hours due to staffing. If staffing was an issue I would have preferred to be notified that today would not work or this particular timeframe would be better for us due to staffing. That would have saved me time from driving in this dreadful heat. And then want to charge me $290.00 for the style to come back later. It worked out in the end. Found another option, at a fraction of the cost.

Called for pricing on your natural dread start off she said 150 and hung up in my face when I asked for clarification because it sounded high for your natural hair. Never been here but sounds like they are rude and over priced.

Getting extensions at Bonitas was hands down the best hair braiding experience I have ever had, and I have been to many shops over the years. The staff was professional, communicative, and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shop was tidy. This is unheard of at braiding shops! Prices are a bit higher than I am used to paying, but fair given the attention to detail and finishing touches they provide. I will definitely be coming back. Ask for Hawa, shes fantastic!

I was in town, and needed a hairdresser. I didnt know where to go so I just Google. Its a plus that you can schedule and appointment online. She was flexible with her schedule in order to try to fit me in.I went in for a touch up, and she did it correctly. She made sure my hair was protected before, during, and after. I was a little confused about the pricing, it was very a la carte, which is a bit confusing if its not listed on a wall or something to review. She gave me Christmas gift, which was nice. Definitely worth the try to go to her. Ill be going back when Im in town or if I move there.
