The Chair has a very laid back atmosphere from beginning to end. No stress at all - just calm vibes. Paula was a great listener for what I wanted and had the talent to execute it. I couldnt be more satisfied with a salon.

Kate was fantastic! I needed a post-pandemic haircut and color. My balayage looks so natural. Kate listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and made appropriate suggestions about the products but without pushing it too much on me. She was fast in her work which saved my time. I would definitely be a regular here. The salon also has a cozy vibe which was a plus.

Everyone there is very professional and friendly! They have done a great job keeping everyone safe during this pandemic and can be so accommodating! When I needed a bang trim before a trip and had to bring my son unexpectedly, Danielle graciously cut my bangs outside on the sidewalk! Since they have a small space and I couldn’t bring my son in due to the pandemic, they went above and beyond to meet my needs. I was so very grateful. :)I drive all the way from St. Paul to get my hair cut.

I’ve been going to The Chair for haircuts for probably 10 years now. I love the facility (the owners upcycle antiques all around the building), love that they use Aveda products, and all of the stylists listen and are great at their art.

Started coming here about two years ago and absolutely love it! All of the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and it’s a pretty cool environment. I see Michele every time I go and she is amazing! Knows exactly what she’s doing and always fun to talk to. 10/10 would recommend for anyone to come to The Chair!

Great cut! Danielle listened to what I wanted, gave her opinion when I asked for it, and explained when I had questions about the techniques she used versus previous stylists I’ve had. She was also laid back and easy to chat to. I finally feel like I’ve gotten a cut that actually works for me and that I’ve been going for all this time. I will certainly return to Danielle, which is saying something, as I’ve almost never specifically gone back to the same stylist before.

I booked an appointment at The Chair after several disappointing visits to another well known salon. My first impression was the front desk lady that took my call. I explained what I was looking for and briefly that I’d just gotten my hair done at another salon. She said they’d love to work worth me but also encouraged me to offer feedback to my previous stylist. Right away this told me that this salon isn’t just about money they actually care about their clients. I took her advice and still decided to book an appointment with Danielle. After exploring a couple of options together I gave her a pretty tall order with a big change and a tricky color ask and she totally nailed it. She wasn’t afraid to be bold and that’s hard to find!Excited to have found my salon match :)

I love, love, love the cozy-old-home vibe; it creates a relaxed, comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. In previous visits, the hot tea was such a pleasure, and I cant wait until its safe to serve again. The staff is incredibly nice. And of course, the haircut is always top-notch, despite my vague, clueless requests.

Kate Ness is my hairdresser, and she always does a great job on my hair. I have curly hair, and most hairdressers try to make it straight which almost never works. Kate goes with the flow--or the curl. She is also a terrific colorist. (If only she could do plastic surgery!) The atmosphere in The Chair is very relaxed and not rushed, which I like. And the chairs are very comfortable--haha--as they should be. The decor is cute, kind of kitschy, which I find very inviting. I recommend it to all my friends.

Was checked in fast and seen right away. The salon is cute and very clean. Parking was not an issue. Patty cut and styled my hair and I loved it. They sell Aveda products and the receptionists are professional and sweet. Prices are competitive so nothing came as a shock when I paid up. $60 for a womens cut before tip. Thats a little less than I was paying before switching salons, and far less than I have paid other stylists in the Uptown area. The going rate is around $90 for a womens cut. Overall, I recommend this salon for trendy and professional styles.

Wow! Okay...so I am not one of those need a haircut people...but I really did need one. :) It was SO great to go see my stylist Kate and it felt so good to get one of her amazing cut/styles after being away for so long (I was already overdue for one when covid closures hit). I always feel so welcomed and cared for, and now there are special safety measures in place at the salon, so very thoughtful for the well-being of all involved. So very glad to see The Chair holding down their beautiful corner in Minneapolis!

The only salon that provided me the expertise to make this happen was the Chair.Michael and staff are caring, talented, and well-trained. I am always nervous when I get my hair done due to the fact that nobody can ever understand what I am looking for with a new haircut not even when I bring in pictures. Anyways, Joey colored, cut and styled my hair and I couldn’t have been happier! He knew exactly what I wanted and watching him he looked dedicated to fulfilling my wishes for my hair. I felt comfortable with him, he was professional, friendly and experienced. I definitely recommend him and this salon. Will definitely be going back!

Everything at the Chair was set up to maximize safety and health. Individual stations scattered around the building, every stylist is masked, and my (desperately needed but admittedly non-essential) haircut turned out exactly as I requested. Will definitely return for future service!

Literally everything. I love that the receptionist is a receptionist or sometimes the owners. I love the space, I love that it smells like Aveda in there, I love the decorations, I love how friendly everyone is. I love that I can walk in to my stylist and say, Cut my hair as short as you can without my face looking fat. and she says YOU GOT IT!

Such a gem! This salon is awesome, been coming here for over a year now and have seen several of the stylists. I usually come in for layers and a trim and the staff have all been so welcoming and open to my preferences. As soon as you walk in, they offer you a glass of beer, wine, or coffee while you wait. Then you head upstairs for a head massage and wash prior to the cut/dye. The salon is so adorable, I believe their owner Michael was the designer. There is the cutest light fixture in the room where you get your hair washed. Also go to the bathroom, very interesting! This time I saw Michelle. She is awesome, such a stand-up gal, very down to earth. Highly highly recommend her and this salon. Feels like family, no snobbishness here~

My baby sister had been going to Heidi for years, and when I needed a cut I decided to go with Heidi. Best hair decision Ive ever made. She is brilliant, kind, professional, and since Ive been going to her for three years now she knows exactly what I love. I have long pin straight hair, I get layers and Heidi cuts it in a way that gives it movement even when Ive done nothing to it (so I dont have to curl it.) My baby sis has a bob, and our older sister a Heidi fan also gets layers. You do need to book Heidi a week in advance, and I believe shes 5 or 10 bucks more, but shes worth it.

I cashed in on the 50% off for new customers the first time, planning to go back to my former salon afterward but Kristin did such a great job Ive been going to her for just over six months now and have been consistently pleased with the results. Not only that, but she always remembers exactly what to do. Would absolutely recommend them, and be sure to ask for her!

Ive been going to Hannah at The Chair for my hair trims/cuts for probably five years or so now. Not only is she lovely, welcoming, and talented, but all of the staff who work the front desk are as well. I called to potentially cancel my hair trim tonight, due to a headache, but Id have to wait another month for Hannahs next appointment. I couldnt wait. The best part? I kept my appointment for tonight, and the woman on the phone said dont worry, well get you a nice tea, or a glass of wine, and well get you all taken care of. I really like this place -- definitely recommend it!

This place is the place of Dreams. Great stylists, great atmosphere, they make you feel like a noble while youre there. Relatively expensive haircuts, but the wash/rinse they do feels amazing, and I know at least Joey offers free beard and neck trims between haircuts!

I received the most horrific haircut in my entire life here from Ashley. The last time I got a cut I hated this much, it was a 2 inch trim-turned bob in 7th grade and it was from Great Clips.I showed her multiple pictures and twice had to remind her that what I wanted was the opposite of what she repeated. She kept cutting, leaving me with short, uneven bangs in the front. I told her multiple times I wanted more side sweeping pieces instead of a few wispy razor cut strands around my face. She didnt listen. She cut the back straight across with a blunt cut that is both uneven and terrible looking. The back was cut in a V prior and she didnt ask which way I wanted it, just did something totally different. The color is nothing like what I showed her, but at least its not ugly. Its manageable. Not a single one of my friends, coworkers, or family think its a good cut and they were all shocked when I showed them the inspo pictures. Im counting down the minutes until I can get in with my regular stylist to have it fixed.

Ive gone to The Chair for years now, and I look forward to going so much. Frankly, I feel like Michael and Tim are almost family. Its one of the few salons Ive ever visited where I can get a great cut (and color) at a very reasonable price but without the attitude. And if Ive had one of those days at work, I know a friendly glass of wine is waiting at The Chair.

Poor haircut. While the stylist was very friendly this was one of the lowest quality haircut with very little attention to what I requested. For starters I asked for a specific cut on my sides and within the first minutes the stylist mishandled the buzzer and cut deep into my hair, leaving an affect looking like a scar was there. This caused her to not accomplish my request and never mentioned this mistake. Also asked for a hard part and after viewing it noticed it was the first time I had ever had one shaved in that wasnt straight!! Very displeased with the service!

Michelle saved my hair from a botched undercut. She is professional, creative and charismatic. I will never go anywhere else again!
