Chris was only on his third day at the shop when I brought my 5 year old in. They fit us pretty last minute into the schedule and he was SO patient with him. He didn’t just rush through because it was a kid’s cut, he took his time and made sure it was clean - even taking time to use a straight razor on his neckline. When we got in the car my son kept looking at his hair and said he should have given him a hug. Such amazing service and skill! I’ll defend bringing my older son to Chris next.

Checked out Mike and Gunner at Southside Barber Lounge today and had an excellent experience. Mike provided a careful and artful cut, had a clean yet edgy environment and offered fun conversation. Even without the awesome cut, Mia (the shop pup) is worth a revisit. Will definitely be stopping back in when it’s time for the next cut.

Southside Barber Lounge on 48th and Chicago is seriously the best barbershop in the Twin Cities, and I’ve been to a LOT of them! Mike was super professional, listened and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever been given. Needless to say, I’ve found my new and permanent barber!

I had been getting my hair cut by Gunnar regularly before they opened this shop, and I was excited to follow him to his new shop. My hair always gets a perfect fade, and it even continues to look great as it grows out. Mikes puppy is a perfect shop dog, and the guy I saw leaving Mikes chair had an amazing fade too. I always feel super welcome and comfortable getting my hair cut here.

I really do appreciate Mike’s love for his craft, you can just tell he’s extra proud of what he’s done as he unsnaps the cape and let’s you see the haircut for yourself. Make your appointments early, and respect and admire that these guys are both clinical about making their appointments on time. During my two visits, I arrived ~10 minutes early and was immediately put in the chair. The list of positives about this spot are endless! Definitely check them out.
