I finally got a chance to go. Been hearing how good they are and I can attest that the service was great and the food even better. I have never had a breakfast that impressed me this much. Love Eggs Benedict and corned beef hash so it made sense to order the Irish Benedict. Homemade corned beef hash was awesome. Almost as good as my own. The eggs were cooked perfect and the potatoes actually had some flavor unlike most places Ive had breakfast. Topped it off with a macadamia and white chocolate pancake. Sweet but the pancakes were really fluffy and delicious. My sister ordered the lemon poppyseed with strawberries pancake which was also delicious. My only complaint is that the coffee was very weak but I like strong coffee. Maybe they should get some darker roasts for those of us who like to taste our coffee and not the cream and sugar. But that wasnt enough to spoil the breakfast. Definitely recommend you try. Time it between breakfast and lunch so you can get parking and a table. Tried before to go a few times but the place was packed so didnt bother. Glad we timed it right this time.

Best breakfast food I have had in a long time. This place is amazing. Unreal how good there food is. The bacon pancake was perfect. The eggs and hash were absolutely amazing. I love this place. Definitely the new breakfast spot for me and my family. And our waitress was the nicest sweetest person ever.

Breakfast was excellent! We totally enjoyed 2 different styles of eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was perfectly flavored and enhanced my salmon wonderfully. The home fries were great too. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. This was our first time here but it wont be our last!

Went there today for the first time. Never saw so many kinds of pancakes! Ordered one of the Strawberry Lemon Poppyseed pancakes. It was delicious - with both strawberries cooked in the pancake and fresh strawberries on top along with fresh lemon zest. It was so thick - had to take half of it home. Hubby loved the man scrambler and the home fries had a nice seasoning on them. Very cute, cozy place. Very good service, nice waitress.

Its been almost 2 years since last visiting Carmelas, and we decided to drive nearly an hour to have a breakfast date there. As aways, the staff and specials were wonderful. I highly recommend stopping in if youre nearby.

Soooo good! I am always a little skeptical at first when I see good reviews.... We still went anyway we were seated downstairs where they have the bar area (place was very clean and so were their restroom). My husband and 2 sons came with. We both had the hash omelet and we shared a macadamia Pancake which was very big and so good! My son got the kids cheeseburger with fries on the side. I loved the fries that were served with the burger very flaky! Coffee was also good. I always hope for the coffee to be good at a breakfast place and this coffee was good! All the food was served hot so that was another plus! They served 2 dishes at a time so I know the food wasnt just sitting at the counter waiting for the rest of the food to be ready. I hate having cold food, this food was sizzling

This was our first time here, when we parked place looked closed but we saw ppl comming and leaving so we went in, once inside we waited a min to be seated wich im looking around and saw few good seats but our waitress brought us downstairs wich I told her I didnt want to go downstairs because of back problems and I was ignored, once seated the table next to us was so loud I felt like I was part of her story I knew so much about them. Then waitress takes order I asked if homefries were seasoned potatoes or if they actually had peppers n onions and good seasoning I was told great seasoning onions peppers well there only cooked potatoes with not much flavor then its on the menu home made hash not sure what happend if maybe I got the batch with all the fat or if it was really can hash. Over all my first experience wasnt great at all and im not sure if they could win me over on a second chance guess time will tell.

The best breakfast around! I’ll be honest with you — if I were on death row and had to choose a last meal, I would order Carmela’s on the Extension and then gladly welcome death’s sweet embrace.

Ive been sitting at the counter for over 15 minutes and all the waitresses parading around without even saying good morning or offering anything. Dirty tables, extremely loud music. Employee working excessively in different roles. They dont know if theyre cooking, answering the phone, or making payments. If the establishment cannot maintain a good level of customer service, a team urgently needs to understand the quality of customer service. And the restaurant was not so full that it took 40 minutes to make 2 eggs, 2 sausages and a toast. Coffee was only served once, and the food really made me wish I had eaten at Dunkin. Unhappy. I really wanted my money back.Sorry about that.

Very overpriced and small portions. Received a completely doughy/raw French toast and then got a replacement pancake when requested but received no discount for the bad food or making us wait. Orange juice was watered down. Will not be going back.

I am so glad we decided to come here for breakfast. Delicious food, and you can tell they put effort into making sure the quality is good too. We ordered a fruit bowl and the fruit was fresh, most of the time when you order a fruit cup/bowl at breakfast places you have to throw half the fruit away because its going bad, but not here. The corned beef and hash looks like its made from scratch, its definitely not the canned kind. Yummy biscuits and my country fried steak and gravy was like what you would get in Texas. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in the area!

Fantastic food. The portions are huge! Always satisfied. Also the menu has so many breakfast options. There are so many different pancake options. Everyone is always friendly. The place can get a bit busy, sometimes at the hot times you may wait 15 mins or so. It’s always worth it. They also do take out ordering. Lunch available as well. Banana chocolate chip pancakes recommended.

Came for Breakfast. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Breakfast had good portions. Our waitress, Lisa, was very friendly and cheerful and kept our coffee cups full. Scrambles and omelet where out of this world!

Great Sunday breakfast experience. Got the Extension Platter. Did my best to clean the plate, but to no avail. The pancakes put up a thick, stout, defensive at the end. Everything was delicious.

I ordered a breakfast to go order and it was not easy or smooth. Upon arrival, their door appeared to be locked (it would not open) and when I called, they did apologize and come open the door. The lock or something was broken. I got my order and returned to my car realizing that the iced coffee was missing...darn. So, I went back to repeat the aforementioned process to get the iced coffee. After that, I left...and I shouldnt have. When I went to eat, I was supplied with plenty of ketchup (at least ten packets) but no butter or syrup. Thus, I had no choice (again, a to go order) but to eat dry waffles. All in all, the food turned out to be REALLY good but getting to that point was a bit of a hassle. Ill probably come back at some point? Im not entirely sure.**PS** I wrote this some days after the visit.

Delicious breakfast and friendly staff. I had the festive pumpkin pancakes and they were great. You could taste the pumpkin and they werent too sweet. For sure will be having breakfast here again.

Probably the worst experience I’ve had here. Took my kids out for breakfast with my bf and our food came out before the kids. Then 20 mins later their food came out. My 16 month old was screaming so I fed him my food and my daughter ended up eatting two bites. No one came to check on us after our food had been brought as we had not condiments. For a small restaurant I would have expected much better. Very disappointed. Then when we were leaving someone was parked behind us and we could barely get out.

Food looks good, taste is average, it was clean, service was so so not overly friendly they just seemed like they wanted to get the job done. Nothing to rave about, however, you can get a decent breakfast for a very high price.

Waited an hour for food, zero condiments on the table but they have hand sanitizer just in case I like my homefries in rubbing alcohol. The waitress disappeared and didn’t speak English which doesn’t help. And they gave us an attitude. Don’t get mad at the customer for your short comings. Take a few lessons from Athenian diner. That’s how you run a restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This was perfect. My fiancee and i just moved to middletown yesterday, today is her birthday, and i wanted to make her breakfast before she woke up, but while unpacking, i gave myself a pretty nice concussion, and am a bit too foggy to cook. Took a chance on carmelas. It was perfect. It was delivered quick, before she woke up, and the food was fantastic. We got two scrambles, and pancakes(smores, and white chocolate macadamia) both were delicious. The toppings were great, and just unusual enough to stand out, but tame enough that even picky eaters will find something they enjoy. What surprised me though was how good the pancake was regardless of toppings. I tend to expect restaurants that have more exentric toppings are usually masking a sub par product(think Donut Crazy, theyre great, but take away the toppings, its a mediocre donuts that i could have gotten at stop and shop). This wasnt the case with the pancakes at carmelas. Took a bit without any toppings of tasty bits in it, and it was one of the best plain pancakes Ive had. Super light and fluffy, with a really nice butteriness. The eggs were cooked perfectly, no wet-borderline undercooked spots, but not at all dry or rubbery. Will definitely order from here again. Really came through, and what could have been a pretty disappointing 30th birthday, ended up started on a great (and delicious) note

How have I not been here sooner! What a SCORE! I ended up getting two pancakes (in my defense one was for me and the other for my growing baby belly) - a raspberry drizzle and white chocolate blueberry. I vote for the later yet both with delish. My dad and husband got egg Benedict’s. And mom got the lemon poppy seed French toast, which was my second fav item.Very very covid friendly, clean, and the staff is always cleaning and catering to your needs.Can’t wait to return!!

Have picked up and ordered through grub hub. The food is usually good, however, one saturday weeks ago the food was unedible and because it was delivered by grub hub the manager refused refund.Lost my business and the business of those who ask me how it was.Worth a try, but dont expect for the customer to be put first.

Had a after funeral breakfast service there. Everything was delicious especially the apple/ cinnamon donuts. Staff was wonderful.

Carmela was a very nice experience. The staff is very pleasant. Our waitress was very busy but always had time to run back for coffee. The food was good. Loved the home fries. My big complaint is that my friend ordered a lemon poppyseed pancake and it lacked flavor. It didn’t just lack lemon flavor it lacked any flavor, Unless dough is a flavor. Overall it was a good experience. Wish I could give a half star because I’d give it a 3 and a half.

My husband and I go here every Sunday morning for breakfast. We love the food. Try to get Sharon as a waitress...shes the BEST!!!! They do get very busy but the food is worth the few minutes you might have to wait. Definitely a great place!!!!!!

We discovered Carmellas on a trip back home in New Britain after a week at the shore near Old Saybrook. We keep coming back for breakfast. Its worth the 20-something minute drive for their special pancakes, or egg dishes. Great food, good prices and service, and clean and comfortable. Nice couches to sit on if you have to wait. 🐻

I give the food five stars but drop the rating for the service. It was a busy Saturday morning and they only had two waitresses who were doing literally everything. They were super pleasant but clearly very overwhelmed. The food was great though! Id seen reviews of the sausage gravy and I have to agree that it was some of the best Id ever had. The coffee was slightly below average, but the food made up for it.

We got here an hour before closing on a Sunday. The sausage, bacon and eggs were good and the hash browns were super delicious, but the pancakes were dry and rubbery. The lemon strawberry pancakes especially were bitter somehow. The atmosphere is nice and the service is pleasant and the prices and very reasonable.

The food was great and the Oreo pancake tasted amazing! Sarah was my server and she was very sweet and was willing to answer any questions I had. The reason I’m giving it two stars is because I had egg shells in my sandwich, the home fries still say $1 on the menu but I was charged $2 and I was charged $6.25 for a single pancake when two pancakes is $7.75, so for the additional dollar and change, I could have just gotten the whole order. When my concerns were presented to Carmela ( or whomever the owner is ), she didn’t opt to change any of the pricing and decided to still charge me that same amount. It’s only a few dollars in difference for all of these things, money is not the issue here, my rating is based on the customer service on the owners part. Sarah was amazing though and besides the egg shells in my sandwich, everything tasted great!

Visited last week...over all a decent experience....the menu had me ....I like a place that will offer meals that are a little different or not the ordinary....ordered chicken fried steak, they had a great sausage gravy, steak was fair, home fries were ok no issues ..had read some not so good reviews about the home fries so wasnt sure what Id get, ordered a side of homemade hash ...the hash I found to be good but unfortunately unevenly seasoned which disappointed me.Overall as I said it was a decent experience, the staff was very friendly and attentive without over doing it ...in my opinion they just need to tweak the consistency of the food and bring it to that next step above basic diner food, I will definitely go back and try it again

This was my first time here. Menu looked great, the biscuits and gravy were stellar. The service was slow. I can understand for it being a Sunday morning. However, our waitress didnt crack a smile once. After sitting there for a few minutes, another waitress asked us if we had been served yet. There were no introductions, no telling of specials. We had to ask another waitress for our drinks.

I have been for breakfast a few times, the first couple of times the service was good, had to wait to be seated but that was okay. Once we were seated by the hostess the waitress was attentive. The last 2 times I waited, wasnt even acknowledged for about 20 minutes, then when seated it took another 15 minutes to have our waitress come to the table. She took the order brought our food then never returned and we had to flag her down for the bill. What happened to checking to see how your food was, a refill on your coffee or just to see if you needed anything else??? Now today, I called in an order for pick up, was told 20 minutes, my son went to pick it up and they said they never got the order, how about owning up to misplacing the order or forgetting to put the order in, we are all human, mistakes happen, you certainly shouldnt make the customer feel like they are out of their minds!!! The food is very good but the customer service lacks BIG TIME, it actually is not worth going back...

My and my girls favorite breakfast place

Tried this place out for a saturday morning breakfast and was largely impressed by the food. Good portions for a great price. I had the work out scramble with spinach, avocado and feta which was absolutely delicious. Hit the spot as far as my breakfast cravings. Ordered the starwberry lemon poppy seed pancakes as well which were unfortunately underwhelming. They had a large variety of pancake offerings which made me think the pancake game would be on point too but unfortunately it wasnt. Service could have been better. They were friendly enough but one of our party had to keep getting up to go get extras like ketchup and sharing plates which was off putting.Worth a visit for breakfast if youre not in a rush.
