Stay away from this scam, Captain George. B. that goes by Georgie is a thief and a con artist. Police report filed and he is banned from coming near Miami Beach Marina. Courts are still not open in Miami but he will be prosecuted soon. Do not trust him and stay away from this business!!!!
Update... Owner replied to my review a year later and tried to play things off as if the way I stated the interaction took place was incorrect. Nice try.... My initial review stands. Book your lesson elsewhere!A few minutes after posting the update and now I am receiving harassing text messages from the owner. Combined with my last interaction, this demonstrates a pattern of unprofessional behavior.I advise that you look elsewhere for positive learning environment from an honest business. Called to discuss lessons and the person (Abby) on the phone was polite enough. As soon as I said I would like to call to check other deals in the area he said he was now booked and hung up on me. I called back and questioned him about his approach and stated it was not good business and he was unapologetic and quite condescending. FYI, the two other business I called in his area had similar prices had no issues with me looking for the best deal and fit for my lesson but most importantly, unlike Abby, both told me that there wasnt enough wind to ride until later in the evening. Looking at other reviews on yelp etc, it would appear that this was not a one time event and due to Abby having a bad day but more of pattern of unprofessional behavior and dishonesty.
I called and met up with George along North Beach away from the crowds. It was a great spot and George is an exelent instructor. I wish I had more time to spend but had to catch a flight. Next time Im in Miami, Ill definitely try this again. This isnt like windsurfing, skateboarding or snowboarding where some people could learn those skills on their own. The level of Instruction required to do it safely is closer to scuba diving or skydiving. Great fun!
Great service and great instructor! Highly recommended. George is very patient and knowledgeable.
We hired George to be the captain for one of our yachts- he worked with us for a couple of days and disappeared stealing a lot of money from the company. While trying to get a hold of him we found out that he was homeless and no one could get a hold of him, including the police.
Loved my experience with George. Had a lot of fun, he gives good tips and is very patient. He will push you to succeed and indeed I did :) Up on the board on the first lesson! Will contact him again next time Im in Miami. Thanks! Max.
Too bad google does not allow negative stars... Not exactly what my cousin and I were expecting when we reserved these lessons, the equipment was very poorly maintained and we were basically handed it like a rental, the instructor was too focused on his phone to teach us, he was cursing out someone on the phone for over 45 minutes and we ended up leaving in a hurry.
Real deal is right. True kiteboarding. Did a down winder with the guys. Supper good crew. Good fun
I had a great time with Miami Kitesurfing! They were very helpful coaching me to refine my kitesurfing skills. I had booked two sessions a week for the six weeks i was visiting Miami. During that time i was able to achieve what i would consider an intermediate level of skill as a kitesurfer. Although i still have allot of room for improvement i had the confidence to go forward and invest in a good kite and board after my experience knowing that this is a sport i will want to participate in for many years to come. Thanks again Miami Kitesurfing.... i will see you again next year when Im back in Florida.
George is excellent! This is not a posh experience, but it is exactly what most folks want. I took a semi-private lesson. Intermediates like myself usually just expect to be watched for safety and given a few pointers along the way. That is exactly what I got, good gear, and a beautiful morning in Miami with wind in a place only reachable by boat! This keeps you away from the beach crowds, very nice! The woman who took the novice lesson got a lot more attention, which was perfect. He had exactly the right gear to get her riding well.Kiting is unique with very particular safety demands - and George was definitely careful while keeping a positive attitude & mellow vibe. I made a big mess of the lines at one point, and he patiently sorted them out and taught me much more about water launches and landings (a bit new for most of us who mostly do beach setups). Most of the watermen I have met are a bit different in life approach than the workaday types... Be prepared that they are not your tour guide or doormat. I respect this independent spirit, but you need to remember that if you go out - he is a very mellow guy with a small boat - but he is the Captain and the instructor! Responsibility for lives requires strength that you may not see in your resort staff - respect that and you will have an awesome time!I would definitely return, and would recommend for a committed beginner.
Great time kite surfing. We had the right equipment, conditions and location for an excellent kite boarding experience. My instructor really cared about kite control, technique and overall approach. Thanks for helping me progress in my kite surfing skills.
I wanted one-on-one in water instruction from an experienced kite instructor, and that is exactly what I got. I was picked up by boat from a dock adjacent to my hotel. We went to a sandbar only accessible by boat. The conditions - waist deep, sandy bottom, and no other kites - were perfect.I was immediately asked about my skill level and expectations. The lesson was tailored to my goals, ability, and progression throughout the lesson. We spent three hours working on kite control, water re-launch, downwind body drags, and upwind body drags, with lots of pointers and tips along the way.The only reason this isnt a five star review is due to some miscommunication regarding booking and payment, but that issue was resolved without issue. Overall, I would highly recommend Miami Kitesurfing if you are looking for one-on-one instruction, with the added bonus of boat access to locations that other instructors cannot offer.
Trying something new is quite intimidating for most people! Kite surfing has always been on my to TRY list, but I was holding back in fear of not knowing if I will enjoy it and if it is too hard..and... Oh, MY, GOD - I am so grateful to George, his patience and competence. I loved every minute of it!!! Now Kite Surfing is on my MUST REPEAT list!!!
I have taken kite lessons in North Carolina, Aruba, and now Miami. Nobody but George had taken the time to ensure that I knew how to do the right thing as well as explain why. He not only has exemplary teaching capabilities (and a great sense of humor) but he has the distinct advantage of using a jet boat that has a draft of about one foot so that you can bring fluids, power bars, cameras, phones, etc, stand while learning, and be picked up in deep water. If you are lucky enough to read this then do yourself a favor and get lessons from George so that you dont have to waste time with the less effective learning environment.
Georgie B is a thief and will disappear with your money. This is not a real location, Miami Beach police varified. Stay away!
Kitesurfing was the highlight of my visit to Miami I had no idea this sport was so much fun and with George teaching me the basics I was able to get the most out of the experience.I also didnt realize how fast the jetski was going to be! I wish I had taken a few more photos but I was having to much fun at the time.Big thank you to George for such a wonderful morning its an experience I will never forget.
Spent the full day kitesurfing! First time flying a kite and I was able to stand up on a board and get going. I highly recommend any beginner kitesurfing enthusiasts like myself try a few lessons from Miami Kitesurfing. I will be back -thanks!
I broke my ankle on my first lesson and george has no insurance so i was stuck with a $4000 medical bill! This became the worst 6 months of my life. I even tried to hire a lawyer and was told that he is not licensed and has no assets or money worth going after. BEWARE!!! DO NOT HIRE HIM, Please go to a reputable and SAFE company, your life could depend on it!!!
The great thing about kiteboarding lessons with George is the positive one on one individual attention. He has the right boat to get you to the right spots for those variable Miami wind conditions. There is no faster way to learn than having your teacher out there on the water with you in a boat or jetski! Once you get up you can take long rides without having to worry about getting too far downwind. Thanks for giving me so much help and great views of Miami in such a great sport!
Miami kitesurfing real deals are the florida warter sports was just great fun. #kitesurfing #miamiGood times. Supper glad we did the boat. Went from south beach. George is definitely the instructor you want to start your first kiteboarding class. He is a perfectionist, always taking care of his students. I will definitely recommend him to those who wanna learn kiteboarding!
Miami Kitesurfing is the place to go if you want to learn how to kitesurf propperly. Abby holds nothing back and makes sure you are getting the most out of your lesson.I did 8 hours of private lessons over 2 days with him and would highly recommend this approach over the group lessons that other places offer. He gives you focused instruction and were able to shop out kites to understand different aspects and styles to get a feel for different sizes and designs. Kiting from his boat meant we could go to the best places for the wind.We saw the group lessons from afar just standing there flying a kite like in Mary Poppins....go with Abby if you want to learn the sport to get the girls....go with him competitors if you want to stare at a pretty face and then embarras yourself in front of the girls.
1. Really poor equipment condition, kites were old and kept deinflatin making us go to the beach and setting new kites, which was waste of my precious time.2. All the equipment was very dirty and beat up, also the boat where he took me to the water was very dirty like he havent washed in decades3. The instructor had me a bunch of hours doin kite control and body drag exercises which was great but towards the end of the 3 day course i asked him that i wante to try to water start and he didn’t like it a bit, he said you are paying ill let u try it. But giving me a really bad attitude.guess he wanted me to pay him more lessons but definitely my next lesson wont be with this guy. (Abby) tks is my recomandarion this guys are a bit pricey but great customer service4. Honestly the attitude on the instructor was very bad all the time, when ever I would make a mistake or loose the kite in to the water, then ask the instructor what i was doing wrong his answer was “i dont know” with an attitude the guy has 0 patience to learn, he might be a great kiter but def doesn’t have the people skills to teach his knowledge5. The guy kept talking to me all the time about a million things other than kite stuff, I tried to keep the guy from other topics and to focus in the lesson and was quite hard to keep him concentrated in to me.6. He almost got in to a fight with some other dudes on the dock while i was watching the hole thingHonestly not happy about my experience at all, he did gave me the basic kite control knowledge but im not happy on the overall conditions of the 3days, since the first day I didn’t like the guy but i was quiet about it since i had payed already.Def guys my opinion is that is cheap and sounds good for the price but I wouldn’t recommend
Love this place, was a bit skeptical . As there is no store front, but it saved me aLotOf $$ and got a great deal on kiteboarding lesson, and that is good. I am not ready to pay sumbudes rentOn south beach and a lotOf layes of manifest, just a kitesurfing school with great lessons. And great process .
I have taken many kitesurfing lessons, and have had instructors of all sorts. However none of them were as professional and straightforward as George from Miami Kitesurfing.George doesnt beat around the bush or drag things out, he tells you exactly what to do and how to to it properly. Kitesurfing is not an easy sport to learn, but as a beginner to the sport I improved dramatically with one session with George, moreso than all the lessons I have had before. If you want a true professional to teach you kitesurfing, George is your man. Highly recommend Miami Kitesurfing.
I was originally greeted with open arms. Abby took my info and gave me a meeting time and place. Because I have some experience, the business did not see $$$ coming from me. I posted a negative review online, then started to get harassment. Very unprofessional!
George is a great instructor that is highly knowledgeable and does everything to make sure the experience is a great one. I certainly recommend this place.
Booked a lesson with Capt. G for noon, when he finally did show up at almost 2pm with a torn dirty shirt wreaking of alcohol he could not get the kite set up for almost an hour... still battling to get my $400 back 2 months later. Save your money folks, this place is a circus.
No BS, gets straight to the point and gives very real feedback and advice. Great lesson, loved the scenic boat ride to go with it.Do not take things personally. George will get real serious, real quick about specifically following his instructions, to prevent accidents and safety mishaps. Kite surfing is a blast, but can also be dangerous if you dont know what youre doing.BRING YOUR OWN WATER!!!! There is no coddling here. :)
Worst place ever to learn, rude people.
