Easy to reserve a vehicle staff was friendly and helpful, car was clean full of gas and ready to go
I rented a vehicle from my a local Avis office in Central California for my wife and teenage daughter. who were driving to Mesa Arizona, approximately 800 miles away. At approximately 11:30 at night, two lights on the vehicle’s dashboard illuminated. Mesa was still several hours away and my wife was very nervous the car would break down in the Arizona desert. She text me around 2am and told me another light on the dashboard had come on but then went off but they had made it to their destination.I contacted my local office early the next morning and the agent told me to have my wife take it to an Avis branch and they would happily switch her out of the car. That morning my wife went to the nearest office located on Superstition and was greeted by Jill.Jill inspected the car light and quickly identified it as only a maintenance light and determined that there was nothing really wrong with the car. She refused to exchange my wife into another vehicle and offered to reset the light without actually inspecting the car. Jill told my wife she had no cars and directed her another Avis located on Country Club Dr. See that branch’s review for our experience at that location. My wife called me as she left the office and told me what had occurred and that she was driving to another branch.I called the Superstition branch and spoke with Jill. Jill is seems is quite confident with her ability to reset a vehicle’s illuminated maintenance light. She told me the car would be fine since if she reset the light but would not guarantee it would make it back to California without any issues.I asked Jill for the name of the area or branch manager. Jill told me she could not provide me with that information because it was confidential. This was the same answer I was given another location. I later learned the person who apparently oversees both offices is Mo Johnson.Mo Johnson has worked for Avis since December of 1989. She is currently the Territory Performance Manager for the Avis Group. I had interactions with two of her employees, Jill and Alan. Both were quick to point out they could reset a maintenance light. Both basically told my wife that the issue was not their problem and pointed to another office. When I asked to speak with Mo Johnson, I was told she was aware of the situation and would not talk with me. I was also told her business phone number was confidential.I can only guess why Ms. Johnson would not want to speak with a customer who has an issue and why her information is confidential. Maybe she is in witness protection or dodging a debt owned to a loan sharks. I can only guess she was possibly too busy training new employees how to reset the maintenance lights on vehicles, or how to pass the problem onto someone else.Ms. Johnson has worked for Avis since 1989 and has worked her way up the corporate ladder. It seems has forgotten it’s her job at times as a supervisor at times is to deal with unhappy customers. Ms. Johnson, if you cannot handle speaking to unhappy customers then get out of the retail business. Have some courage to do your job. Quit hiding behind a shield of confidentiality and have your minions fight you battles.Three hours later my wife finally got another vehicle at the airport. I would avoid this branch and the one on Country Club Dr if possible. If you are in the Mesa area and your car’s maintenance light comes on, then Alan at the Country Club location is your man. Alan apparently prides himself as a bit of an “Car Whisper” and possess Jedi like powers that able him to reset a vehicle’s maintenance light faster than a NASCAR pit crews can change the tires on a stock car. Nervous? Don’t be, Alan proudly boasted he is very knowledgeable about car maintenance lights. Without actually check fluid levels or conducting any further inspections, Alan will get your car ready for the Arizona desert. He even guarantees his work. But if you do break down in the Arizona desert, have that roadside number handy.
My dad died and I was trying to rent a car. Had my reservation paid for through pay pal. I get to the place to pick up my car i dont have a good enough card the guy doesnt even try to run it. I have well over 100,000 dollars in that account and basically I missed my dads funeral and they arent going to refund the money. I thought all they needed was a the card I paid through pay pal. That what your terms say. Avis I am going to see that everybody I know doesnt ever use you guys again. My brother and uncle use you guy quite a bit. Not any more.
CONSUMER BEWARE.Do not use this facility for your rental needs. They lie about their chargers, purposely mislead you, will give you verbal information only to use “well you signed a contract.”We had a rental from AZ to TX and a one way rate. When we unexpectedly had to extended our business stay in TX we called to re rent our car but to the price of their “daily” rate not the “one way” which is more expensive. We spoke with Jordan whom assured us that our price had been adjusted and when we returned the car on Tuesday that it would be out one way ($118)+ daily($54).When we returned the vehicle Bob the owner, refused to up hold the change in chargers from one way to daily and pretty much told us too bad we signed a contract. He was nothing but rude, condescending, and arrogant.WE WILL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH THE BBB AND A CIVIL COURT.
Rented a car in mid Feb, and noticed a chip in the windshield. Told the rep about it and was told is was a known issue and not to worry about it. Brought the car back, rep inspected it and said it was Ok, Two months later got a bill from AVIS for $537 claiming damage occurred during my rental period. Called the local office and was told to call my insurance. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND LOCATION!!!!!
So of your looking for a nice lobby and staff waiting to help you like at enterprise then this isnt the place for you. But if you want a hassle free quick and easy in and out with cheaper prices and the same quality cars then check them out. I will use them every time from now on.
Upgraded us to a better vehicle free of charge
I have rented from this location many times over the years and it has always been a good experience. I dont know if the ownership has changed or management or what but this time was not great. The car I rented was dirty, the back seat floor was filled with stones, yes actual stones! It was not full when I drove away, but no biggie on that one. For previous rentals I was always impressed with the staff but this time I didnt get the feeling of service that I was used to. Please go back to the way it was and please rent clean cars. Thanks.
Could not be happier.. had the car for 30 days and no problems even with the return and i was a little late but they worked with me so very happy
Terrible experience! We rented a full size car, but when we got there they were out of full size cars. The vehicle they gave us instead was absolutely filthy! It wasnt just dirty from Arizona weather. The inside was disgusting. There were huge stains in the seats, napkins from fast food places, flyers from businesses that the previous renters went to, dirt all over the floorboards, and pieces inside were broken! The center console wouldnt even close. It stayed standing straight up the whole time! We talked to two different people there about it and they could care less. I emailed customer service and all they said was sorry! Seriously? I responded back letting them know the condition of the vehicle was unacceptable. They said they would credit us $20. That was nice until they charged us a $19.77 toll road fee right after! We made sure to avoid all toll roads on our trip. I called customer service and they said theres nothing they could do, that I needed to read my terms and conditions section! Terrible customer service and terrible experience. We will never rent from here again.
