Went to the Melbourne Airport location to pick up my previously reserved vehicle. Handed the worker/manager my credit card. The front and back of the card came apart. Just a matter of not sticking and a card I have used other times at that very same location.The girl was very nasty. Said she could not rent me a card because my card was damaged. It is a brand new credit card. I had the same issue with the last one. Not my fault.I was denied my rental. I called customer service and they said that was not their policy. She obviously made it up. Very sarcastic and unprofessional. I went to my car, called back and asked for the owner. She said they were out of the country. Lied and hung up on me. As a travel professional with credentials, this behavior is extremely unacceptable. I will be calling corporate to file a formal complaint. Sidenote: She was also very rude to the customer ahead of me. Dont think she wants to do anything, but sit there.Update:Just read Thriftys response. They never seem to take blame for the errors and unprofessionalism they exhibit. Reflective in other responses I read. Cooperate has been contacted. I will never refer any clients to them. Perhaps the manager should take a course in customer service.

I was charged the amount of the rental plus a $200 deposit but was then denied renting the car because the “computer said” my credit card was a prepaid card (AFTER my card was charged). It was not a prepaid card! It was a bank card with the bank emblem on it. I left the rental desk with NO RENTAL and the total amount still charged to my card! When I asked for a supervisor, he never even came out and I was told there was nothing they could do. I had to go to the bank and file a dispute for the charges. Worst customer service EVER. Do not rent from this company.

This is one of the worst company. I rented a car for 2 days due to my car in the shop. Well I was stranded with just their car I had to take my dog somewhere to get him out of the house while I wasnt here because I was having an inspections coming and they found some hair in the backseat and they refuse to give me back my $250 deposit. $250 or some dog hair that takes a minute to clean up. Zeo smell and nothing else wrong with it*be aware*

When I arrived to the counter the lady didn’t even acknowledge me I had to say excuse me hello she replied I’m busy??’ LolThan my card was charged for588.00 luckily my bank declined the charge after she already charged a deposit qnd re two fee!!! Now I called to extend rental inwas hung up on 3x and placed on hold 5x so I have to drive all the way there!!!!Still havnt reached a manager they refuse to give a umber I called thrifty corporate they said it’s a franchise so they have no information wth

Absolutely ZERO stars! They charged my credit card $1000 and said I returned the car to Savannah, GA when I returned to MLB not even 24hrs after I rented it at MCO. I will NEVER rent from this company again! The charge was supposed to be $102.Update: And yes this location processed the return location and date incorrectly, therefore the $1000 charge still remains on my account. BEYOND FRUSTRATING 😤

He is unable to problem solve or be professional This is a franchise location which makes it difficult to involve corporate in a dispute. The car smelled like smoke and had some dog hair. We were on our way to a funeral..we attempted to have them issue us another car but they told us none available. Upon our return they charged us $250..to clean the car..we were very upset..had to use our bank to reverse the charge. Do yourself a huge favor a run don’t walk to another car rental...Pay a dollar or two more and get customer service and professional help in guidance. If you go the cheap way and rent from these folks you’re asking for trouble

We go to pick up a rental. We have our mask on to protect them during the pandemic. Of course they dont feel a need to wear mask inside. They dont care. Good way to lose the business.

Updated for response to owner:- I was told the car I was given before I gave my ID or debit card so really your excuse doesn’t make sense. The car was disgusting when I received it and I had to take it to get detailed.Super sketchy from start to finish. No phone number so you can contact them. I had to come get a rental from here through BMW while my car was being fixed. Car was disgusting when I was given it, had to have it detailed (super shocking especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic). Then after returning the vehicle I left my shoes in there and finally received a contact number for the manager (from BMW) and never received a call back so I can pick up my shoes. Don’t bother trying to call the phone # listed on google it will ring for 2 min and then hang up EVERY time. & if you call the 1800 # you will be told there is no phone number.

They charged me $250 cleaning fee saying I had dogs in my car which I never did I have dogs at home that the fur stays on my clothes and feet. Stay away from this rental company unless you want to be scammed! Worst ever! I never got my money back.

I only gave it 1 star because it wouldnt allow me to do a zero, just took my 5year daughter to bury her father in Georgia unaware that we couldnt take the car out of Florida, so they kept the $200 deposit, not only are we still grieving but that money was for her trip to Disney to try to ease her mind. Thanks alot, i was always a loyal customer for years.never again!!!

Ok I HIGHLY recommend Thrifty. We just rented a car for a week from the Melbourne airport location. Remember to read the fine lines before you reserve to make sure you are aware of their rules and you will be fine. The car was perfect, no smell or stains, and drove well. (2020 Kia Rio) Since they allow debt cards with no credit check, there is a $200 depot you will not get back until AFTER the vehicle is throughly inspected. We returned the car very clean and with a full tank of gas. Brought the car back on Thursday, and I had our deposit back in my bank on Tuesday. We will absolutely use them every time now, thank you!

When I dropped off the car, I did not get a receipt. I returned the car on time yet was charged an extra $50 for a late drop-off. After calling the main Thrifty phone number, the Melbourne office realized they made a mistake and refunded the late charge.

Worst car rental place EVER! They never pick up the phone. The customer service is horrible, rented a car that smelled like cigarettes, and the seats had stains all over. Also, once I drove the car on the highway, the car kept making loud clunking sounds. Completely ruined my family vacation, by cutting it short to fix these issues. Not easy especially with a 5 month old baby, customer service didn’t even care. Also they advertise unlimited miles but the front desk said you can only drive 150 miles per day. This company is a joke in every sense, they should just close it down. This also applies to dollar as well, since it’s the same company. PLUS, they still try to still charge me for the getting the car towed and using the car for half a day (trying to get it back to them) PLUS AGAIN the contract says the late fee is 10.99, they try to charge me 63.00 for the car being late. It was late due to them not picking up the phone, I wanted to extend the rental. Stay away from this company at all costs!!!!!

DO NOT USE this rental car agency in Melbourne. Its the worse! They would not honor our reservation made through the 800#. They told us they were a Franchise and didnt have to honor corporate reservations. Huh? They were extremely rude. We walked across the lobby to Hertz and got a great car at a better rate. The Hertz people basically said that the Thrifty at Melbourne Airport gave all the car rental businesses at this airport a bad name. I will NEVER use Thrifty in Melbourne again and will advise all my travel guests to steer clear. On the positive note Id recommend everyone USE HERTZ! They were great!

Booked a car online with Thrifty, thinking that it was the best price. I was shocked, when we got to the airport, to find that they add extra charges onto the bill that was not explained on the website. The gentleman behind the counter had no personality (which I suppose is too much to ask for in a public service company). As I asked for an explanation of these extra charges and then attempted to understand what he was saying, he told me to just get away from him, that this is the way it is. Now that I am home and checking a little deeper into the situation, I have found that Thrifty is at the bottom of the list of car rental companies. I noticed that their price doesnt reflect all the taxes that should be charged. They cover up this attempt at deception by adding in the phrase, estimated charges. That is what was told to me when I questioned about all the extra charges. BEWARE: Thriftys prices appear lower but when you get to the counter, they are the same price as the other car rental companies. The car they gave us was nice but was not the size that we asked for. At the end of the trip, Thrifty did charge us for only what they said would be the cost (including the extra charges). I have read other reviews that stated the company would add even more charges later if the customer complained. I guess we shall see. It has been two weeks since my rental and no mysterious charges from Thrifty.

Very fair prices and no problems just make sure you fill up the tank, they charge $9.99 per gallon of gas if you dont fill it

I had a business meeting in Orlando, and was running a bit late, so I made a quick reservation online with Dollar Thrifty. When, I called to confirm reservation and ask them how to get there, they asked me about my location and offered pick up. I must admit, I was overwhelmed and delighted with their service, because I did not expect that they will pick me up from US1, the driver name was Nick, he was a handsome, well dressed young man, very kind, well spoken and acted very professionally. Upon arrival at their front desk at Melbourne airport, I was offered and upgrade, because the car I had reserved had just been rented, I asked about the associated cost, they said no cost this is complementary upgrade. I strongly recommend this rental company, and will use them all the time for my future rental.

First and foremost, they DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE! They do not return your call if you leave a message. Secondly, full to full gas system yet I get my car and it has half a tank of gas?? There are STAINS all over the car. On the ceiling, seats, everywhere. And then, the girl at the counter is too busy flirting with security to help me??? Piss Poor Performance. The 3 Ps followed by Thrifty Dollar Rent A Car. Yall need better employees. I would give you no stars if I could.

Horrible experience and horrible staff! The car I rented was a HUGE upgrade and it was damaged all over the side. It smelled like wet dog and cigarettes. I called several times but no one cared. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible experience. Dont waste your time.

I would avoid this branch at all costs. Like others, I arrived at the counter to discover that they have a mileage limitation and do not allow you to drive the car outside of Florida. I had to cancel the reservation and go to another company, which cost an extra $150 because I had no reservation there. I travel extensively and these kinds of limitation are simply not used anywhere else. There were other indications that this was a shady outfit. Save yourself a lot of grief and book elsewhere.

At counter clerk says it is only 300 miles since we are local renters and not arriving by plane.2. Clerk said the car was new so no reason to check for existing damage. Lucky we checked since there were scratches.3. Clerk said if we smoked in the car there would be a $200 charge. We do not smoke. The car stinks heavily with smoke. The office also stinks of cigarette smoke.4.

TERRIBLE! Booked through a 3rd party which said the rental was unlimited mileage. Showed up at the counter and they asked me where I was taking the car. When I told them it was out of state they said no you can only drive it in Florida and you only have 150 miles a day. They said unlimited mileage only applies if you come in on a flight... The woman at the counter was pretty rude, obviously she is used to telling customers off due to this ABSURD policy no other company has. She lied and said it was all in the fine print and that I HAD to call the 3rd party company to try and get a refund. DO NOT rent from Thrifty here, they will screw you.

Car was dirty. Agent at desk was not helpful! I had to stop on the side of the road and zip tie this twice.(crawl under car to do this) I am not the first zip tie customer on this car.(there were other zip ties that had broken) I had one rented for Key West, next month.(Cancelling it)

HORRIBLE!. Thrifty Rental Car at the Melbourne Airport twice charged me a service fee of $50.00 for missing a toll. The actual tolls were only $2.50. When you call them, the rental clerk picks up and they will tell you to speak with their manager, who never seems to call back or pick up when you call. A guy named Saad??? Now that it has been advertised that THRIFTY Car Rental overcharges for tolls on the TV News, I still cant catch management, but that poor clerk still picks up and directs me to management. Poor poor service. The 1.5 stars are evident. Do not rent here if you can help it. You might get beat out of your cash with erroneous charges.

Ugh! Stay away!We booked a rental through Priceline for an Altima or similar over 6 months in advance of our trip. When reservation was close Priceline sent a reminder with Jetta or similar. We arrive at the airport and offered a small Elantra -- which I questioned since I though I reserved a mid-size car -- and was upsold into Altima. I thought whatever, just get me to the resort. AND THEY OVERCHARGED MY CREDIT CARD FROM THE AMOUNT CONTRACTED! I was pissed, so I brought up the original reservation to see it was Altima to begin with! Now Im furious. I called 4 times over 2 days and it only goes to voicemail. I argued with my credit card company, but since there was a signed contract for the upsell they declined, but I found another phone number: same problem -- right into voicemail with no return calls.Even worse, they know the game: they wrote to the credit card company on dispute letter to refund part of it (the difference between contract amount and extra charge) but the credit card company explained they dont do that -- its on the vendor. Worse, now I cant re-dispute the charge and need to keep calling the credit card company to correct the issue.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER!

Gas rip off scam. MAKE SURE YOU RETURN THE CAR ON EMPTY. You will be charged for a full tank regardless. They rip off all their customers by charging them the full tank of gas fee whether the tank is returned full or not. Use it all up because they are looking to get you.

I am giving this place ZERO STARS! They charge $9.99 per gallon totaling to $127 just for refueling they charged $55 just to come and unlock the trunk because while getting luggage out of the car my friend locked the keys in the trunk so they had to come and just simply pop the trunk open. This is price gauging at its best! This is a terrible company to rent from SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE an do not rent from them. They charge for every little thing and they rent out older cars its 2017 and they rented out a 2013 JETTA no Bluetooth no USB port nothing. This is a terrible terrible company they seem to enjoy ripping people off and hide behind the contract as an excuse. THEY DONT EVEN POST ANYWHERE IN THEIR AREA OF THE RENTAL SPACE IN THE AIRPORT how much they charge for refueling like all the other rental companies do because THEY KNOW IT IS SHADY PRACTICES!
