Very nice young barber. Cuts it just the way I like it . He is one of very few that still razor trims. Reasonably priced.

I called to see if they would take my 8 year old and the owner was very rude in the phone and said No! I don’t like doing any kids!!! I just found that to be so unprofessional and rude to be honest! Just not how you handle a conversation to a new person in the area! I get that some aren’t comfortable but listen there is a way to tell someone nicer than that! Very disappointed!

Matt does a great haircut and his shop is set up like a man cave. He finishes you off with soap and a straight razor, like any legitimate barber should. He has a great audio / visual setup and plays some really good stuff. If you like that vibe and arent easily offended, then there is truly no better place to go for a hiarcut.

I would give this guy zero stars if I could.

This has been my favorite barbershop. Quick and quality service. There are two 70 televisions and a new movie or television show is always playing to enjoy while waiting. There can be longer wait times, but that is expected Friday afternoons or leading up to any holiday.

I would like to say, this isn’t a place for people that want celebrity treatment. Talking to the man, he’s telling it the way he wants. This isn’t your ordinary barber. I say 5 stars because some of these people’s reviews are about how their feelings are hurt. I like that he doesn’t sugar coat the conversation.

Like the reviews say, one heck of a hair cut. He does seem hard to like at first but he comes around. I only go to a barbershops that actually use a straight razor, thats the first thing I look for then the ability of the barber next. I can careless about his personality and so should you. If you want a good haircut this is the place, just leave the kids and old ladies at home. The way a barbershop should be.

I moved to medina in 97 came from Cleveland and my old Italian barber was the best, he took care of all the Indians and browns players . I thought I would miss the great cut he gave but Matt took it up a notch from that. Great atmosphere always new movies playing and beer if so choose I leave a little tip for beer. Matt can cut hair like no one else in the entire medina area been there done that. Once you know Matt he is a great guy and says it like it is, if you want smoke blown go somewhere else hes not your guy, I hope he stays there and I hope everyone that visits gives a good tip he charges 13 for a cut I give him 30 everytime in he is worth it .

Ive been going to Modern Barber Shop for over 35 years. Been through the old days and the new. Matt is like a good whiskey. A bit harsh for many but to the discerning connoisseur he hits the spot. Make no mistake, this is not the barber shop for the weak of heart. Matt says it like it is and doesnt care about your hurt feelings. Hes a one man show and if you leave your sensitivities at the door, youll get a hell of a show! Sit back, relax, watch great movies (complete with surround sound and two screens) have a beer (Great Lakes on tap... if youre of age) and get a great haircut at a reasonable price. Its an old school mens barber shop. Refer to the barber shop scene in Gran Torino if you have questions on what I mean.

Matt, I will not go back again. Been going there for many years, sent many referrals my own children, neighbors, but no more. Was disappointed as how uncomfortable you made me feel after only asking for a little less hair off the sides.Your rude comments and negative attitude in front of a shop full of customers was uncalled for; I was embarrassed for you because when a barber asks....What do you think?? and I say looks great but can you take a little more off the sides.. comments like.....Oh well for someone that only gets few haircuts a year, I am sorry that I do not remember your preferences..Really??? ... and then you tell me that I am not paying for two haircuts.... I thought you were kidding....but no, you were not... you were very serious and upset that I had the courage to ask for an additional fix.Left you a a great tip as always, and walked away forever.Matt you are in the people business ... if a customer is satisfied he will tell 1 or 2 people and if they are dissatisfied they will tell 20 or more. Be nice, respectful and cordial it is better for business.

Owner is great! Been a couple times with my son for his haircut. Decided to give him a try myself and the experience was great. He did exactly what i asked. And even trimmed my eyebrows and made them look great and ive never let anyone touch them in 46 years

I have been going to this place for a few years now and I have yet to be disappointed. I tried going to a place closer to where I live, and was left disappointed which is a testament as to just how much I like the modern barber shop--I now have no problem driving the extra miles to ensure a great haircut/experience. The place always looks clean, outstanding atmosphere including huge TV always playing something, and a beer with your haircut. As I mentioned, I have never been upset with the haircuts Ive received here. Recommend to all.

Needs to learn how to be a decent person, especially to customers who have been coming for years. The man has no respect and excels at being rude. Good at giving haircuts, horrible at customer service.

Havent had a decent hair cut since I moved to the southeast Akron area. I am doing a construction job in Medina and stopped in for a cut. The choice was entirely based on how late the shop stays open since I worked over until 6. Anyways, Matt did a great job with the cut and really took his time on it. He mentioned several times he is not all that talkative and that was fine because there was a great movie playing on the big screen! I received am excellent high-and-tight and had a complimentary beer afterwards while the movie ended. But I really enjoyed the old school barbershop mentality that this is a place for men and for mens haircuts. Matt might but a little brash but he works alone, he runs the shop every day alone, and if there were other decent barbers in or around Medina that are not already employed perhaps theyd find a great opportunity there. Ill be back for another great haircut!

Looked online last min for a barber shop to take my brother to in Medina. Felt bad showing up 30mins before closing time but was not an issue all. Felt like I was in a movie theater while I waited. Very cool shop and did a great job on my brothers hair. Thanks!

Nice laid back place to get a haircut. This is the only place I go.Other people reviewing badly sound like they just dont get it. Youre certainly entitled to your opinion but this isnt a Best Cuts. Dude isnt trying to impress you with his customer service skills, hes just trying to give good haircuts and have a chill place. Uptight people should avoid this place.

Simply called to ask if they take walk ins or appointments, told me walk ins, i asked if it was cash only and how much it was, he proceeded to tell me $120 for a haircut where I replied with for a mens haircut? - he then said i am busy and hung up the phone. HOW DO YOU RUN A BUSINESS? my mistake for bothering you. I am going to make it my mission to absolutely blast this business. DO NOT GO.

Incredibly rude when I called to schedule. Wouldnt give a price range and hung up on me. Considering there are stylists in amazing salons these days outdoing the traditional barber cuts I think this guy should re-think his customer service standards.

Threatened to charge $50 for a regular haircut because he considered it fixing someone elses f*** ups...... okay. Good luck staying in business when thats the first thing out of your mouth to a customer. Really dont know why he went out of his way to say that when he still did the haircut for regular price.I gave 2 stars because the haircut was good, everything else about the experience was awful. Go somewhere where they will crack a joke and actually treat you like a person. This guy is extremely entitled for what he does.

Very impersonable...went in to get my head shaved and beard cleaned up and he rushed through it. He didnt speak 2 words the entire 3 minutes and when i got home and looked in the mirror he had missed entire patches of hair. **also....does not take cards**

My fiancé went in for a haircut and beard trim and his beard looked worse after then when he went in!! The barber missed a bunch of long hairs and it looks like he just took clippers straight across the bottom. 2DAYS BEFORE OUR WEDDING. awful. The haircut however was okay.
