I’m not one to post… but this place is the absolute BEST. I have been going here since I moved to Madison and my sisters and mom from out of town now plan their travel to see me around their velvet eyebrow tinting appointments. Tracy and Maryna are my go-tos - absolute experts and also amazing humans. I cannot say enough good things about these women, their character, professionalism, and talent. For example, I recently forgot about my eyebrow appointment right before my wedding (bride brain) and Tracy graciously got me in at another time, and did her absolute best work to make me confident and beautiful going into the special weekend. Don’t waste your time anywhere else. If you don’t believe me, ask all my family who are now die-hard velvet fans.

I got a wax on Friday and it’s now Sunday only 3 days, a shave lasts longer, their are so many hairs that were missed it’s not even funny. I would not recommend, they did a terrible job. I wish I never spent the money

Megan is one of the owners and you can tell shes a waxing goddess, quick, attentive and very thorough. & to top it off, they have some great products to purchase, crystals being one of them! This was my first waxing experience and I could not have asked for a better first time! I got a Brazilian and I was terrified. Lily was so nice and comforting and FAST! I was in and out of there in about 30 minutes total! Lily talked with me the whole time just about whatever just to keep me distracted. Seems terrifying, but absolutely worth it! And Lily was thorough! She got everything! I loved the results! Also, the salon is beautiful inside - relaxing colors, newly renovated, spa-vibe. I will always go to Velvet for waxing!

I had the BEST experience with Megan! Im pregnant and so is she! She kept the convo light and made me feel so comfortable! 10/10 would recommend this place is beautiful and parking is a breeze with a garage on the same block!

Getting a bikini wax is a very sensitive situation! Ive been coming to Velvet for about a year now, and I always feel incredibly comfortable! Megan does a great job of making you feel at ease. The place is incredibly efficient! Theyre always ready for me when I walk in so theres not a whole lot of waiting around (though their entry way is beautiful)!

Im not very happy with the last lift and tint that I got here. My eyelashes are bent straight up at a 90° angle and dont have any nice curl to them. Theyre also clumped together and after I left I realized there was black tint on my eye lids. I was hoping for a nice curl and instead am stuck with these L-shaped lashes until they grow out.Aside from the lash service, the staff was extremely friendly and the salon was comfortable and inviting. I would consider coming back to try their waxing services but dont think Ill go back for my lashes.

Cait was extremely professional and very nice. I hadnt been waxed in a few years and she made the process go smoothly. She kept up the small talk and avoided awkward pauses which is plus when you are in a somewhat uncomfortable situation. The prices are competitive. You can also easily schedule online. Overall, I had a good experience and will be going back.

I could not be more comfortable here! All the staff work so hard to make you feel at ease. They take the time to get to know your skin, to make notes for future appointments and explain aftercare. I love love love this place!

I went back to velvet after 5 years. The first experience was okay but I found a better relationship with the ladies at EWC. However I decided to give velvet waxing studio another try. I scheduled but due to a family death I had to cancel and I ended up back at EWC. Several months pass Still wanting to give this small business a chance I scheduled again but had to cancel due to an employee of mine needing the day off. I went back to EWC and I have been going there for some years now. All with ample notice and within their cancellation policy. I finally make an appointment and receive service at VWS. I schedule a follow up appointment. However I was fully expecting a confirmation email and text as I was promised prior to leaving the studio. I have been on vacation actively looking at my emails I have not received an email. Today I was told I have a history of canceling with them and there professionalism was not what I expected. My sole purpose for this review is to encourage the team members of VWS to get better at ensuring that can under promise and under deliver. If the scheduling staff saw that I had not confirmed my appointment, why wasnt a phone call made? It almost seems as if the company prides its self on collecting cancellation money. Better practices should be in place to ensure the ultimate customer experience.

This is the worst wax Ive ever received. Nothing like going home to fuzzy patches after a Brazilian and having to call two times to schedule for a clean up after youve left a message. They did not inform the tech about my requests prior to my session. Definitely not coming back to this place. Im hoping there are better places in the Madison area. Not worth your money.Update (June 28, 2015): I am still very upset about my experience and would like everyone to know and be careful before booking an appointment here. My hair is growing back, and it is super prickly and itchy. It feels like Ive just shaved it myself. I did some research online and came across this response to another person who is experiencing the same discomfort:It should not be itching while coming back in. If the wax is done properly the follicle will generate a new hair that is not prickly like a hair that has been shaved. Im going to venture to say that your tech did not wax you very well and actually broke the hair off instead of taking it out from the papilla. This will cause it to grow in itchy like razor stubble not soft and fine like it should be. If you apply the wax and pull it in the wrong direction, this is likely to happen.In response to the owner, I understand, after my appointment, that the person is new and there was a 50% off deal going on, but seriously, if you hire someone, they HAVE GOT TO HAVE AT LEAST SOME KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE WITH HAIR REMOVAL. You dont just hire someone and use that as an excuse if something goes wrong!

I had such a great experience at this studio getting my first Brazilian! Of course I was a little worried since it was my first time..but this studio has a great atmosphere and the staff is very knowledgable. Tami is great and I have gone back to her every time! She made what can be a uncomfortable situation very comfortable. I plan to never shave down there again.

I went to Velvet Waxing Studio after hours of researching salons/prices in the Madison area for a Brazilian wax. The studio is charming and clean. Brittany was my esthetician, and not only did she do an excellent job on the waxing itself, she was friendly, conversational, and comforting. Furthermore, the results are long-lasting, and I did not have any issues such as red bumps. Ill definitely be going back for all of my waxing needs. *Side note on getting a Brazilian: Definitely take an ibuprofen beforehand. They do an excellent job at Velvet, but no matter which way you slice it, getting a Brazilian isnt pain-free.

They do a lovely job with lash & eyebrow tinting. Lasts 4-6 weeks, depending on sun, make-up & face washing. Favorite pampering for this mama on the go.

Avoid. The services are overpriced, so I thought that at least theyd do an excellent job. I was scheduled for an hour and a half full leg wax, bikini, and eyebrows. I was in and out in 30 minutes. When I got home, I realized that I had patches of hair, and the hair on my thighs is very light, but it was still there!When I contacted them to let them know what was going on, the owner responded right away and got me in to get fixed. They admitted that the person who saw me first double booked me, and it was very obvious that I wasnt fully waxed. The remedy for this was that they got me in to fix my legs. Of course, it didnt feel right after this visit either because the second person was just trying to fix the patches that the first person had left. So I still paid for their full pricey service (180!), and had to go there twice to get half-waxed each time. Horrible.

Ive been going to Velvet for many years now and would highly recommend them to anyone! Tracy is my go-to staff, and not only is she excellent at what she does, she is a fantastic conversationalist as well. Will continue going here for as long as I live in the Madison area.

I had been looking for a new place to get my eyebrows waxed, since the many salons I have gone to do a quick, mediocre job. I was so impressed by the quality of this place I have been back multiple times to receive an eyebrow wax. Staff really take their time and provide a great quality job. My eyebrows are more defined, which I could never say about the other places I have gone to. Plus the cold stone massage after the wax is heavenly. The other day after my wax they also did a makeup touch up, since I would be out and about after. I would highly recommend getting a wax at Velvet Waxing Studio. They really go above and beyond!!

I dont usually take time to write many reviews, but based on the service I had at Velvet waxing studio I felt inclined to. I have had about 3 Brazilians done at this studio, the first being with Maryna, and the last two done by Tracy. The atmosphere is chic and elegant and the staff is awesome. My skin recently became more sensitive in the last few months which resulted in major irritation from my last wax. Tracy was very helpful in answering my questions as well as making sure my next experience was more pleasant. She took the time to adjust the wax heat setting slightly lower than most clients prior to my arrival, and she applied products to my skin to reduce any irritation. She offered tips and suggestions for the weeks following my waxing as well. She was nothing short then awesome! I really value her honesty and the additional steps she takes to make sure her clients leave with a great experience and also satisfied. I have had AWFUL waxes from other establishments (in Madison) in the past, and despite my recent skin sensitivity, I can definitely say that I will continue to go to Velvet Studio because they are really the best.

I was not very impressed with this waxing studio. I am used to a more relaxing spa like atmosphere. If you want to feel pampered and relaxed I suggest going somewhere else. My experience was impersonal and felt rushed. Overall the experience was average and not worth the high price. I will be going somewhere else to in the future.

I went in for half leg wax and it was pretty nice. Albeit, its a bit expensive but I liked it. You do not have free parking near this place. You have pay and park and many parking lots available.

I had a Brazilian wax with Cait and she was wonderful! I have very coarse hair with deep roots so some service providers struggle, but Cait was quick, very thorough, and she minimized the pain. Would definitely recommend Velvet and will be going again.

I visited Velvet for the first time today and received a service from Kylene. She was very knowledgeable and very professional. Kylene made me feel comfortable and relaxed during a service that can be quite uncomfortable to begin with (brazilian--any women who have received this know what i mean!!). She was also very thorough which I highly appreciate as I had explained to her I had had another wax at a different location that wasnt worth the money.The studio itself is very clean and beautiful.I look forward to seeing Kylene again!
