This review applies to ALL their locations. The therapists range from mediocre to poor. A very mixed bag. Be aware their policy is that the therapist you see for the initial consult may NOT be the one they assign you to as that therapist may not have space to keep seeing you!! This is absolutely the most confounding part as its so important to feel comfortable with a therapist. So obviously they just want to stuff the schedule as much as possible without care for their patients. Their website that show therapists availability are often inaccurate. Such a PITA to try to find someone appropriate in such conditions. Their policy for patient cancelations is 48 business hours, but therapists can cancel a couple hours before session without any notice. I understand that emergencies can happen, but sometimes they are just taking vacation days. They inform you with short automatic email from the main system, and the therapists dont bother to message you separately or have a good bedside manner about it especially for their last minute cancellations. Its very very impersonal. I would NOT recommend this company or their branches if you are in a dire situation and need consistent, thoughtful care.

After spending 1 hour 17 minutes with 3 different representatives including the Complaints Manager, I only wish I had seen the Yelp reviews and warnings earlier.Imagine running a facility that should be focusing on the betterment and mental health of individuals seeking professional assistance and guidance, only to stick their noses into policy guidelines and fees if they cancel their first appointment they ever made on the same day it was booked by a representative.I had an appt made at 10 am, by 2 pm when I called (after speaking with my insurance) and calling back to cancel after Ive made a more educated decision of what the costs will be to attend this visit.Im being FORCED to attend the appt for $150-200+ OR be charged $175 for cancelling. It got to the point I was crying on the phone and they still didnt care, there was absolutely no emphathy, no sympathy, nothing. Ive never been so disappointed by an organization that focuses on a field I majored in for college.Stay away just please stay away

All I can say is that the service is unreliable. I started going to a therapist, and on the third appointment, I get an email saying she no longer works at the company. The week after, the psychiatrist cancelled the appointment as well, a day before. So if you are having major issues and need something consistent and reliable, this is not the place for you.

DO NOT GO HERE! Shortly after Covid appeared in the US, I was feeling overwhelmed and was looking for a therapist to help. There were no prices listed on their website, and they only had one available appointment. I signed up for it and immediately reached out to find out pricing, which was unnecessarily difficult. When they told me it was nearly $400, I canceled immediately. A few days later they sent me a cancellation bill of $175. No service or guidance was rendered and I cancelled immediately after scheduling. It is ridiculous and they continue to harass me.

I videoed with a therapist twice. I didnt like her so I didnt make any more appointments. They have now sent me to collections for two missed appointments that I never scheduled. This practice is a SCAM. I called numerous times asking for proof that I scheduled the appointments, and there is NOTHING, Because I never scheduled them. Very sad times where MEDICAL PRACTICES have to make fake appointments to pay the bills. Dont fall victim to this scam like I did.

I was so excited to finally find a health association that took my insurance that could set me up with a psychiatrist and psychologist so that I could seek therapy and get the medication that I needed...however, I was deeply mistaken and heartbroken. The reason I am giving this company a 1 star is the negligence on their part to do their job as an association. They said they take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance - which is not entirely correct. They only do under certain policies covered by EAP and Magellan. It SHOULD be on them to follow up on that inquiry PRIOR to scheduling out an appointment with your insurance company, because as a distressed person, and a CONSUMER, dealing with their mental health, they might not be reliable to navigate the massive cluster that is the American Healthcare System. They are a company with many people that can easily do that investigative work if it means getting new patients, and if it means they care about the well being of their patients. Not only did they not do that, but they set you up with this incredibly informal way of communication through their website with no walkthrough on how to use it. Mental health professionals should be more aggressively transparent about their cost. I am now in debt to them nearly 1k because the cost was not communicated directly prior to my visit. Im happy that I am at a place where I can pay this off, but would hate for a poor college kid to get sucked up into their mess.PLEASE do NOT schedule an appointment with them until they check your insurance and EXPLAIN the breakdown of costs to you. Mental Health professionals shouldnt take advantage of people in distress and need to practice their due diligence to be TRANSPARENT about the cost. So when and if a patient doesnt respond to cryptic notifications on their own site, a follow up is REQUIRED BEFORE you go see someone and you are on the hook for money.

Absolutely disgusted by their staff and policies. For an appointment I made a month ago, for a first time visit, I got a reminder on friday evening. At the time of appointment, I was told that I will get reminders well in advance, so that if I need to make any changes or cancellations, I can do that. I trusted their word for it.I am a healthcare provider, and I had last minute patient additions to my schedule on tuesday, for which I couldnt say no to. I called and left a voicemail on Monday morning around 7 am, to reschedule my tuesday 5:pm appointment (monday all day and tuesday all day should count as 2 business days). I got a call back saying that I am not aloowed to cancel or reschedule and doing so would end up in a $175 fee, even if i reschedule. Who does that????I work in healthcare, I very well know the value of keeping appointments and frustrations of no-shows. BUT I also know that life happens, and some people can have genuine reasons, so when they call you 2 days in advance you need to have the decency to work with them. I would not recommend a place, which is so rigid and rude. Its almost as if they only cared about making money. For a mental health help place, that comes across as super inconsiderate and insensitive!

PCPA has probably some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced out of a medical facility. As everyone else has mentioned, they are actual nazis about their cancellation policy. I called 47 hours ahead of my appointment to cancel and because it wasn’t 48 EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DUE TO A MEDICAL EMERGENCY they charged me a $175 cancellation fee. If you’re wondering how they fund their modern offices and their website that they clearly paid some Silicon Valley nerd way too much to build it’s by stealing money from their patients. This place sucks.

Please steer clear of the online appointment practices of this organization - it is a scam and I will be reporting them to the BBB. You make an appointment for a few days later, they call to notify you that theyre not contracted with any payers not allowing you enough time to cancel your appointment. Then, you receive a bill for $175 for the cancellation. Dont be fooled.

The people that work here are awful and have no respect for people with mental health problems. Their cancellation policy is a disaster and they all suck. This place charged me for an appointment I cancelled, and also violated HIPPA multiple times by disclosing my medical information over the phone to someone other than myself. I got charged $175 for an appointment that I cancelled over a week in advance. I then called multiple times asking them to pull phone records to prove that I cancelled and they were extremely difficult on the phone saying if I had really cancelled then I wouldn’t have been charged, but since I was charged then I must not have cancelled. Apparently they don’t think it’s possible for them to make mistakes.

Was a patient here for 6 months. Since corona the doctor has been impossible to get in touch with. Recently I ran out of medication and left 4 messages for the doctor. Called the office 3 times and was very rudely denied access to talking to the doctor . Got the “we will leave a message” response. After a week i felt like I meant nothing to them. Will be going elsewhere.

I would give them zero stars if I could. They charged me a $175 even though I rescheduled with 1-week anticipation, but since their system doesnt cancel appointments automatically I was charged with no show fee. The same with doctors seems like the only thing they know is how to maximize their earnings by scheduling unnecessary appointments.

I waited over a month for my first visit. Received confirmation by email the day before the appointment. I was really excited to finally get some help. After sitting in their waiting area for a couple of minutes I was told that the time slot was double booked due to a system error. They said because the other person was a previous patient they would be prioritized. I was told they would call me to rebook. When I asked for parking validation the receptionist acted strange and said the building does not give out the parking stub I had, which made no sense since they gave that to me downstairs. It’s fine if they don’t validate, but the whole experience was bizarre. I would say the receptionist were a bit unprofessional. I guess as the previous reviews stated, beware of this place.

Finally, a one-stop shop for mental health. There are complete bios and photos for each provider, making it very easy to find a good fit without having to “try-on” several providers first. Billing is all centralized, so once your insurance is approved, you simply pay your co-pay each time you see a provider—you do not have to wait for insurance reimbursement, and they take MOST insurance providers, including HMOs. The patient portal is fantastic, making communicating with your provider, reception, and/or billing a breeze. And you can have video appointments with any of the providers and they are billed just like a regular appointment. You get a notification after the appointment that you owe a co-pay, and simply pay right through the patient portal. You use a HIPPA compliant website or app for the video appointments, making them safe and secure. Since they have offices all over CA, you could find the perfect fit with a provider in a different part of CA and still see them via video appointments. After years of struggling to find the help that me and my family needed, PCPA has been a godsend. I’ve recommended it to friends who have all said the same things—they found a fantastic provider, making appointments is super easy, the portal is great, etc.! I could not be more pleased with the services. The office on Wilshire Blvd, near Fairfax, is lovely. Also, if you do need to speak with someone about a bill or scheduling, you can call and usually get a real person on the line right away. One of the hardest things about getting help when you need it with mental illness is being completely on your own finding the help you need. It can feel endless, overwhelming, and so difficult. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling with this to go to the PCPA website first. Thank you PCPA. You’ve made a huge difference in my and my family’s wellbeing.

I rarely leave negative reviews. What other reviewers say is right. Here was my experience. I found a therapist’s website and it mentioned there’d be an eval. I assumed the eval would be free. It was a video appointment. Turns out I got a bill for $250 after. For a 45 min appointment. I called and they said they don’t do free evals. Ok, but at no point during scheduling did they tell me what the cost would be. The billing apartment agreed with this and said that they don’t tell clients the rate during the scheduling process. I was like - what? I scheduled another appointment (before I got the bill for the first, since I didn’t know it was gonna be charged) and due to the 48 hour cancellation policy, I can’t cancel my appointment now. I can only reschedule within the same day or I get charged for it. I asked them how much the bill is for my appointment with the therapist. They said it’s between 175-220, but they won’t know until after the appointment. So basically you don’t know what the rate is with your therapist until after you’ve had your appointment with them. If they’d told me all the rate information up front, I wouldn’t have started in the first place cos it’s more than I wanted to pay. I think it’s only fair as a good business practice to let your clients know what the rate is before they book an appointment, is that not reasonable?I’m leaving 3 stars because I enjoyed my eval with my therapist, so it’s nothing against the therapists.

Dr. Whitehouse is wonderful. She truly listens and cares. Shes smart and no non-sense. She not only prescribes medication but really wants you to look at your way of thinking and reframe things. Shes a real doctor... Thankfully, this is NOT an in-and-out-psychopharmacology-assembly-line situation. They care here. AND I love their whole paperless system and easy portal! So glad I found this place! (And they take my insurance! Hallelujah!)

I usually don’t do this, but my experience with this place has been so upsetting and I feel like I need to warn others.I made several attempts to cancel my appointment for June 14th. On May 31st, I sent an email requesting a cancellation. When I didn’t hear anything back, I assumed it was because they were undergoing many changes to their patient portal (the entire process of that is very confusing). Then, on June 13th I received a reminder saying I had an appointment. I called as soon as I could and explained the situation. I was told by the receptionist that the woman I had emailed was away from her desk and that I would receive a call from her by the end of the day. That call never came, but since I had explained things to the first woman I thought that would resolve things.I received a call the day of my appointment explaining that since I had missed it, I would be charged. Since then, I’ve made several attempts to get in touch with someone when finally, Maria got in touch with me. She explained that since I missed the 48 hour window, she couldn’t waive the fee. I pleaded with her over and over again, explaining that I had attempted to cancel within their policy. Without any compassion or any empathy, without any good reason, she continued to tell me the fee could not be waived.Reaching out for help for mental health is already hard enough and I truly believe these people are preying on vulnerable individuals. It’s sick and unethical. Do not make any appointments here. They do not have your best interests at heart!
