I just moved to the area and found my new was barber shop great place to get a fade tripl zero to 5 on top and razer shaved the back of my neck as well$20.00 dollar haircut would have payed $40.00 so I tipped her $20.00

The last 20 years, my Barber has cut my hair. For now a pause has taken place due to personal matter on his end. Hopefully things will work out.Fast forward...was in search of a Barber and my Brother recommended Star Barber Shop in Koreatown. Although it was 30 to 40 minute drive, figure I give it a try.My Brother informed me to request Mitszu only to cut my hair. When I arrived at Star Barber Shop, I did just that. Mitszu informed me that I was next after she finished with another customer. 30 minutes later, it was my turn. Informed Mitszu of the style I wanted & about 20 minutes later, it was done. For the most part, haircut was okay and I was satisfied.Few things to know.1. Star Barber Shop does not take appointments.2. First come, First serve.3. Cash only.4. No credit/debit cards accepted.5. ATM located inside Barber Shop lol.Parking is challenging. Since Star Barber Shop location is on a busy street (Vermont Ave), there is meter parking 1 to 2 blocks away...or you can park across the street at Ralphs supermarket parking lot. Also there are a lot of seagulls in the area. My car was mildly covered in bird poop when I returned to my vehicle.4 stars rating due to appointment option, parking and bird poop. Again, haircut was good.

I liked this place. I did my haircut with the asian lady she knows how to do haircut.

Quick service, but the quality was very poor. Fade had a few spots and a good amount of long hairs missed. Line up was poorly done and for the price, definitely not worth it. I wouldnt recommend unless you were desperate. I give it 2 stars for the speed of service and politeness from the barbers but quality is 0.

Mitsu is amazing: best shave of my life. Best haircut value in LA; would be worth the trip and its in my backyard. And this place rocks at Christmas! Its a real pillar of the neighborhood.

Been coming here for yrs since I was a kid. Place is still standing with a few of the veteran barbers still there. Prices have gone up, but always my go to for a cut! Love it here

My barber is the best. hes cuts are very clean all the time. barbers kit are well maintained and clean. chairs are comfortable. the downside is they are now expensive compared to other nearby barber shops. i started here at $8 fee years back but now they charge at $20 for regular cut. despite the expensiveness and the drive of at least 15 minutes, i always comeback because i have tried other barbers and nothing compares to his awesome cuts.

Worst barbershop ever!! The Lady messed up my husbands hair cut, mind you it was $20. When he asked her to fix it she was charging another $20!! DONT GO HERE!! Save yourself!! They dont even know what a taper is!!Messed up his whole hair. The taper isnt even staright! His hairline is so uneven!!! If I can post no stars I would. So rude not one barber in there would even fix their mistake!!

I was a bit nervous getting my first haircut in a new city with a new barber. Since I just moved here from KC, I normally got to black barbers (due to my last experience of not going to one) However, I loved my haircut at Star Barber Shop! I was in and out as soon as I got there (this was around 6pm on a Saturday), Nanhe (if youre reading this sorry for spelling your name wrong) cut me up and made it perfect! So perfect I left a tip!

I’m pretty loyal to my barbers, to the point that I held off on getting a cut for 6+ months. I normally get my hair cut at my barbershop in Oregon when I go and visit the fam. But I haven’t been back since thanksgiving. After reading the reviews from google, yelp and FB. I decided to try this barbershop. I was helped by Ruth who’s level of detail left me with a very clean cut. I will continue to go here and request Ruth as my barber.

I love this place!! One of the guys at the concierge desk of my apartment building recommended it to me. He said to ask for Mitsu, because shes AMAZING!!! I couldnt agree more.Now, I did hair for 15 years of my life. I was raised in a family of hairstylists & barbers that go back 5 generations. So I can say w/ total confidence I know what to look for in a good stylist. My haircut in particular isnt a high maintenance style at all. But, it is PRECISION cut. Meaning the hair has to be at precise angles & lengths consistently & accurately through the entire cut to keep it from looking like I lost the drunken frat boy bet. Mitsu is NOT a hairstylist. Shes a rare find nowadays. She is a BARBER. Her technique is clean & precise. This lady knows her way around a pair shears, comb & straight razor. If she wasnt doing hair, shed be a surgeon. The shop itself is rather unassuming. Typical neighborhood barber shop that looks it was one of the original businesses in the neighborhood. The REAL TREASURE IS INSIDE!! I believe theyre a WALK-INS only shop, so it can be crap shoot for how long you may have to wait. BELIEVE ME. Its worth waiting for!!! Especially at $12 a haircut!!! SERIOUSLY?! Dont tell her I said this. But, the last time I saw someone pay $12 for a haircut was from a freshman at a cosmetology school!! Trust me. I was there!!

The only person who is a short chunky man who was available I asked if he could take my kids .. he immediately respond with an attitude and with his finger up saying NNOO - I DONT TAKE KIDS !! FELT DISCRIMINATED when I expressed how wrong he sounded another lady nxt to him jumped into our discussion and literally offered to go out and fight... REALLY?? I needed a haircut... BADLY!! The night before, I had taken my electric clippers in hand, and proceeded to FAIL miserably at cleaning up the back of my neck.At 55 years of age, Ive acquired a real thicket of straggly white hairs, sprouting across my back and neck. It looks like a weedy vacant lot. Ive also become basically blind, so, imagine me, sitting atop the bathroom sink, holding a hand mirror in one hand and my dog clippers in the other, struggling in vain to shave my neck and recreate the fade from my last haircut, several weeks ago. I pretty much ended up looking like someone locked up in a 19th century insane asylum.So I got on Yelp, and discovered the Star Barber Shop, right close to me on Vermont.I was late, I thought, too late to expect a hard-working barber was going to fit me in at the end of his shift. Then I met Mitzu (who, incidentally, is a she) and was escorted to a chair with a pleasant smile.In just a few minutes, Mitzu had me looking SHARP, and about ten years younger, all evidence of my amateur hair styling skilfully erased. I really look good now! I swear I do!All in all, a very pleasant experience, and cheap as hell to boot. Ill definitely be a return customer!
