My son has worked with Angela to prepare for his SATs - both before the pandemic, during the pandemic, and now after school started up again. Angela has been fantastic! She has kept us up to date with closures and openings and registrations, was flexible and available via Zoom when needed, and, most importantly, figured out my sons testing style to give him the confidence he needed to do well. My son really enjoyed working with Angela and my daughter is excited to start the process soon, and as specifically asked for Angela based on her brothers personal reviews (and performance on the SAT, which jumped 140 points between April and August).

I had a fantastic experience with Allison. I prepared for the math II and physics subject tests with Allison, and she was careful to explain every concept to me concisely and accurately. By explaining complex concepts in a simple and concise manner, Allison was able to walk me through every concept that would be on each test with time to spare, despite my late start. She masterfully created original practice material that allowed me to learn and practice big ideas for each test. She also taught me various tips and tricks to quickly calculate answers to otherwise grueling and complex problems. Overall this was a very beneficial experience that has allowed me to prepare for my tests in a much more thorough manner than I could have on my own or with a test prep book.

Will is my third child to work with AJ tutors. My oldest had to trek up to Palo Alto for her sessions, so we are very happy they have a location near us in Los Altos now. Eric Millington worked with my son starting in August to prep for Math 2, PSAT and SAT. At the start we agreed to a certain number of sessions, but Eric and my son worked together very efficiently and got the prep done in less time than expected. David Massey is the best tutor ever! He helped me with the ACT and raised my score from a 33.5 to a 35.5. He is easy going, clear, and enthusiastic and can actually make the process of standardized testing not horrible (an amazing feat in itself). I found his advice and edits on my essays in the writing section to be extremely valuable, as he was able to pinpoint specific trends I should watch out for. This was very helpful on the actual day of the test because I had a clear mental outline of how to lay out my thoughts. Before the tutoring I already learned the basic tips and material for the test, but David really helped me see every nuance and trick of the test!

My 8th grade child had a successful experience preparing for the HSPT and the ISEE tests with Julia Poniatowski. Her temperament and teaching style helped my child be motivated. We worked together to strategize on what my child should study at home, and when it would be good to have sessions with her.

I cant thank Allison Carlisle enough for how much she helped me prepare for the SAT. She is the Los Altos Office Director for a reason, and helped me boost my score very significantly in just under a month. When I didnt understand the concepts, she helped engage me in a way that they made sense. When I had trouble focusing, she gave me breathing techniques to improve my concentration. I always went into sessions with a smile on my face, because I knew I would not only learn a lot, but have fun doing it. Homework is tough, but fair, and in the end youll wish you tutored with her sooner.

The practice test really helped me figure out the main focus points of my mistakes. Packets were helpful to go through before testing (along with the SAT). I just wish I had a bit more time to do practice tests, but thats why I have a testing booklet.
