Well this will be the first time i have ever left negative feedback for a business. I bought a built, turnkey 1600 single port motor from Dennis at Aircooled Haus a few years back. Within the first month i noticed a lot of oil leaking out the bottom of motor. I called Dennis who told me to bring her back in and he would take care of it. After dropping it back off and waiting a week for it to get fixed he called and said it was done. I drove 40+ miles again to pick her up and drive home. She did good for a week and then after a longer drive i noticed it was leaking again. So i called Dennis, took her the 40+ miles again and he fixed it again. So another week goes by and guess what?? yep, she started dripping again and getting hot this time. Called Dennis who said the Warranty period was over, it turned magically into a 30 day warranty on the motor. But he offered to look at it again for a discounted rate. Well at this point i had enough. Moe from West Coast Core was coming into town for a show and offered to bring me a good motor. He said he would deduct the core from Aircooled Hauss motor when we got them swapped out. This are the actual pictures taking from Aircooled Hauss motor whenMoe took their motor apart and split the case. The case had gauges out of it, that was the reason for the constant oil leaks. Dennis and his shop could have kept putting new sealant on the case until the cows came home and it would have never sealed. The core was so bad that Moe could not use it and it went straight into the dumpster. We also noticed the oil coolers seals where so smashed that it was not allowing a good oil flow into the cooler, hence the overheating issue. So in short, i wasted $5,000 on a new motor from Aircooled Haus. I am doing this so hopefully i can save someone else from doing the same. I think Aircooled Has are good guys and experienced mechanics. But i also think they have no business building new motors if they can not even getthe blocks correct. And shame on you Dennis for the thrown in 30 day warranty on a brand new motor! I have all the text messages documented, pictures taking and i am contemplating a lawsuit to hopefully recoup some of my wasted money.Diagnosing motor issues and fixing i think you are safe. Building new motors and you should avoid them like the plague!!
I had my ‘61 vw beetle fully built by Dennis and the team. From the custom 1776 motor to a completely new interior and suspension, they are experts in what they do! I couldn’t recommend Aircooled Haus more!!!
Great team here. Extremely knowledgeable and meticulous. Dennis rebuilt my 1200 and upgraded to 83mm pistons. Installed new wiring kit, drums, and drop spindles along with a few other things. Kept me updated with photos throughout the entire process. I highly recommend them.
Awesome people! They always do a great job.
Had my beetle worked on a few years ago. They looked over the whole bug, got it road ready, did some suspension modification (handling/lowered) Fixed some gauges, speedometer, partial engine rebuild. Drove it without issues for nearly two years till I sold it. The owner always kept me updated with what the vehicle needed. I recommend them for your aircooled projects. Great small local family business to support.
Great people to work with. They now VWs
Good guys
If you own an air cooled v-dub, give these guys a call. Very knowledgeable about these bugs and busses. I wont go anywhere else with my 57 beetle.
