I have always paid my bill on or before my due date. Everyone that I ha e dealt with is super nice and helpful. I always get a receipt and if there are issues I would use them but I haven’t had any. I love Rutherford Electric !

I will generously give them 3* because to their credit the power does hardly ever go out. But they charge too much, and every time they come around to do maintenance the contractors that they work with have absolutely no regard for your property or the quality of their work.Luckily I finally am at a point where I will not have to worry about that any longer because everything is cut. However, they have come out about three times in 10 years and every time they have left they have left an enormous mess, and left the trees and shrubs looking horrible.

If it wasnt for The Lord and these linemen and women we sure wouldnt have power Thank you all for your hard work and what you deal with. Thank you all for everything you do we are Blessed to have you. Also all the people who give bad reviews dont know what their talking about. Every power company isnt the same as far as i know we dont do the prepay i know duke does. My brother is on it and he prepays i just dont like his bill over 300 to 400 plus a month really. Something is really wrong with that picture.

Had Duke seems like forever. Nice customer service local and they get your power back on much faster. They men work even on Holidays or are on cal . I guy who works with them has Duke said pretty bad we have Duke no power yet we are restoring it fast for those close to our home.

Requested power to be transferred out of our name when we moved out of apartment. Were not told power would be shut off that morning, when we came to collect final items and CLEAN. Even property management said power should not be shut off. Had to borrow extension chord from awesome property maintenance team so we could vacuum. REM was NOT honest!

This place is unbelievable. Ive never dealt with a company that goes so far out of their way to actually you from BECOMING a customer. Ive owned dozens of houses in multiple states and Ive never seen anything like this. This isnt a pricing complaint or a fee complaint or anything of the sort. The people are very friendly. Their policies are absurd.

Terrible company. Claimed to call but had an employee come out, turn the power off without knocking on the door, then leave. Happened because apparently there’s a “limit” to how much you pay for your monthly bill, however this month the bill was higher so instead of contacting us about this they decided to just cut the power off.Rutherford is terrible. Given the choice, I would go with Duke Energy. The lady on the phone sounded like she was about to hang up on us like their customer service has done to previous reviewers but we kept our cool and weren’t irate or upset with her.

Im a prepaid customer. Usually, as long as theres a positive amount in the account it hasnt gotten shut off. However, this morning I paid the $20 to bring the account in the positive.30 min later the power shuts off. I call and the rude, uncaring jerk says that I need to add another $20 because technically I was late and need to pay a reconnect fee EVEN THOUGH I PAID BEFORE IT WAS DISCONNECTED.I begged her and told her my pets and I are freezing in here and I dont get paid again until Wednesday (2 days from now) and was met with, Sorry, maam. If you want to take it up with someone else, go ahead.Well here I am, taking it up with the public.If you can do business with any other Electric company, please do. This isnt the first time theyve thrown us under the bus for an extra buck.

I didnt really want to put a star. Must say one of the nastiest people working there. Im so ready to make. Just so I could get a different company. They deserve no star. Bad customer service.

On the prepaid service and I live alone in a 1bd 1bth. But I seem to somehow use 10 to 15 dollars a day in power. When I was with Duke in my previous 3 nd, my monthly bill was 120. Something isnt right with this company. And good luck getting an explanation from their so called customer service. Dont move to their service area if at all possible.

If only there was an even lower review than one star. I have never had anyone be so rude to me as a customer! I wish you could choose your electric company because it sure wouldnt be rutherford that I would choose!

I set up for automatic draft. Something happened on the companys end and the payment wasnt processed. So the next month, I get hit with 2 months of electric bills, which I dont mind paying. BUT!!!!... I also get slapped with a $400 missed payment charge. Yet, it was Rutherfords fault that the payment was missed!

Worst customer service ever!! Those ladies that work there are some of the most lazy and miserable people on earth!! They want to keep directing your call to someone else, and then you end up just getting the voicemail and have to hang up and call back!! The owner needs to take the time out and do some training with his staff at this Lincolnton location!! Rude and lazy!!!
