Dave Hamill is the most dishonest person I have ever met in my life, let alone rented from. This is going to be a long review, I actually created his yelp page so I could review him and his business from a first hand account, so strap yourself the f in.We started renting from Hamill in the summer of 2016. My fiance worked for him, so it seemed to be an easy choice. He promised us a rental, and then when we went to sign the lease, he rented it to someone else. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and rented another place from him on a month to month basis, with his promise that it would be temporary and short and he would get us into a more affordable place. We signed the month to month lease for 2245 Learnard Ave.That house was a mess when we moved in, to say the least. Dirt everywhere. Broken furniture. Holes in the walls. Mouse trails of poo. Mold. Moisture. Insulation falling out of the walls. Fleas. You name it, we probably had the problem. It took us 2 weeks to get the house clean, scrubbing floors and walls. The walls still had holes and mold and were dirty.When we moved in, we also agreed to a 40/40/20 split on the gas utility. All of the gas was on one meter, so with the occupancy of each apartment the split made mostly sense.Well he had the apartments metered out and had our gas bills split, which seemed fine on the surface. Then we started get our bill. Which was astronomical. We had our suspicion that there was something going on its the gas, but we thought it might be a leak. My fiance turned the heat down and turned the hot water down to save money because $190 for 2 bedrooms and 2 people is ridiculously high.Well, turning down the water heater got our answer. We were paying for hot water for the entire building, including our heating for our apartment. Dave called and yelled at my fiance about it, demanded that he turn the heater back up, to which my fiance said no. We are paying for it, so it is staying low. That is when he agreed to pay the difference in the bill from what we originally agreed to what it is. My fiance did the math, and calculated almost $200 in gas overpayment over a 3 month period. When we told him the number, he super conveniently forgot our agreement and slammed his truck door in my face. I knocked on his window telling him that if he went back on our agreement I was calling the police. That is when he started yelling, so I called the police.He also is the kind of landlord that walks in whenever he wants. Once I was naked in a towel and hand to duck into another room to keep him from seeing my naked body. He has walked in on 3 separate occasions.And once he had maintenance done on our place without our knowledge, and then they left the flipping door wide open. I was gone for hours and I came home to my doors wide open.He does all sorts of illegal renovation without proper license too. His workers do not have electrical licenses or plumbing licenses...or anything.He is shady. He is dishonest. He will rip you off and smile in your face about it. Dont rent from him. Period.
