DO NOT LIVE HERE OR CROSSWINDS OR ANY OF THE WINDS APARTMENTS! They have a pool and a gym, that only the owner can access, its on the apartment property for tax purposes most likely. The office people are horrible and will charge you late fee if you are late 1 minute. They do not care at all about anyone living at any of these apartments. This place is the same rent as most places that are the same quality but they will give you access to the pool and gym, so there are many better places to live, go to them. Plus, the laundry facility only has half working machines, others wont clean or dry at all. Stairs are dangerously rotting, I do not have 1 good thing to say about this place.

Northwinds has been a great place to stay. I am a graduate student and have loved the quiet neighborhood that is close to campus and downtown. The apartments are spacious and we enjoy having a back door to the shared yard area for our dogs. I was scared to trust a landlord after my first experience in lawrence but this place has been amazing and quick with any maintenance we need. We hope to stay here until we leave lawrence.

I have been living in a two bedroom apartment for the past 2 years. I love my apartment, the staff is friendly, and the apartment complex is very quiet. I work in KC, so the easy access to I-70 is great. Highly recommend!

I just moved into Northwinds in a 2 bedroom a few months ago. I liked that these apartments were spacious, clean, well kept and affordable. I had looked around Lawrence for a bit to find a place to rent and I am so glad I chose Northwinds. The complex is away from busy streets and intersections but close to my work. I am a very happy renter so far! Check them out!

I lived at Northwinds Apartments in a 2 bedroom. I was placed in Lawrence for work and I was happy to find a small quiet place to live. I felt very welcome from the start. The office staff worked with my schedule which allowed me to have a stress free transition to town. Northwinds was close to my work, a grocery store, gas station and downtown which I quickly learned was full of things to do!

I have rented from here for the past 3 years, so far I have no complaints, my neighbors are great and everyone is very friendly around here. It’s nice to live in a community that is so welcoming. The owners care about the property; as you can tell with the landscaping and grounds. Maintenance is prompt when responding to emergencies and very courteous. The office staff and management have always been helpful. I have enjoyed my experience here so far.

I just moved out of my apartment at the end of last month to take a new job. I enjoyed my time at Northwinds and never had any major complaints. I would definitely recommend these apartments to a friend.

I have lived at Windgate for two years and it has been wonderful. The staff have responded to every maintenance request Ive made on the same day, and have been extremely friendly and receptive to my needs. The apartments are beautiful, clean, and well-kept. I couldnt be happier with my experience here.

I read the previous reviews and was shocked to hear the complaints. The office staff is awesome and maintenance is prompt. They really make it feel like a community.There is always people that do not follow the rules, than post a bad review. It is always the other guys fault. We love it here.

Decent, recently remodeled apartment, but depending on which building you get, your view out of your bedroom window might be the trailer park next door. Owners are shitbags who try to charge you for everything possible. Owners have a small gym and pool on site, but its not for tenants. Last year, the leasing agent didnt answer an email over the weekend regarding our lease, but immediately emailed on Monday telling we were being fined (for the thing we emailed about). No pet deposit, instead a non-refundable pet fee and higher rent, although they provide no additional services. They have another location (Crosswinds) that is apparently even more run down and less responsive to maintenance request.

I just moved into a one bedroom apartment here and it is very nice. The staff was very helpful with the move in process as well.

I have been living at Northwinds Apartments for almost 2 years now. I have never once had a complaint about this property. The office staff is helpful and friendly whenever I call or stop by. The maintenance staff works extremely hard to keep the property looking beautiful and well maintained. I have only had to contact maintenance once throughout the two years I have lived here and they were quick to come by and help me out! I would recommend anyone who wants a quiet, friendly neighborhood as their home to live at Northwinds. Their complex is centrally located between I-70, shopping and KU. They are even on the KU bus route! Anyone would be lucky to call Northwinds home!

By far best apartment I have lived in in Lawrence. The one bedrooms are very nice!

DONT RENT!!!! They cheat you out of your deposit and make you pay more than what your deposit was. The office management is rude. We spent days cleaning our apartment and it was spotless. They came back and said that behind the fridge needed to be cleaned and when we did, the tile in the kitchen got scratched. Things that we specifically told them needed to be fixed when we moved in were never fixed and then turned around and said those things were our fault. They are crooks and should be reported to the housing authority.

Living here is like living in hell! The walls are thin and you can hear everything the people are saying and doing (if you catch my drift) next door.. WORST APARTMENT ever in my opinion

My brother and his family live here and seem to be really happy with their apartment and the staff. The landscaping here is beautiful.

Go somewhere else if you can!!! Charge up to $250 if you accidentally get locked out (Never got charged a penny elsewhere)... Disactivate cable w/out permission if they dont like the provider. Slow on repairs. Carpets ripped up & didnt repair. Make excuses to keep deposit! Take my advice! This place is lucky to have 1 star. Worst living experience ever! They dont give a f**k about you just your $$$ You will regret it.

First off all the girl Abby is sleeping with the head maintenance guy who happens to be the owners son. Of course he would respond right away to her requests. Also just goes to show you how pathetic these apartments are. They have to have family members and people sleeping with the staff write reviews because they suck that bad. Seems like it would make more sinces to just offer good customer service instead of ripping people off... They love to troll around on here all day long and try to copy and paste their witty responses, because they are that desperate..Greetings – Thank you very much for taking the time to review my comments northwinds as I know you have nothing else better to do.I regret that your apartments are horrible and you lack any customer service skills. DO NOT MOVE TO NORTHWINDS, CROSSWINDS, OR WINDGATE!!! For starters, the owners are the cheapest people EVER so everything is run down and a piece of crap. The maintenance staff is always busy, so it could be a week or two before they even attempt to take care of your issue. The office staff is rude and likes to hide in the back and pretend they are not there. My friend lived here this last year and I know someone that used to work in the office; trust me they will STEAL your security deposit and most likely demand more money from you! You can have one mark on a wall and they will say that it needs a full paint. Do not be a fool and lease here!

Contrary to what another poster said - not all bad reviewers are just people who wanted to get away with not following the rules. We were good tenants who followed every rule and never complained. Our issues with the place were minor....until we moved out....I will start by saying the apartments are beautiful and wonderfully priced. The girl who gave me the tour was fantastic (i never saw her again). However, it went downhill from there. In the 2 years i lived there i paid my rent every single month (one time i was late due to being out of town) and never caused any major issues. When i complained about ants they shrugged their shoulders. When i complained about MOLD in the front closet (found out the people next door to us were having the same issue) they sent someone in with Clorox spray and paper towels and told us to start opening our windows more often (it was February!). Then, one day in May i was opening the window (because that is what i was instructed to do) when the blinds in the front window fell on me. I still have a large scar on my leg where it gashed my leg open. After 6 months of requesting them to come and fix the blinds they finally sent someone in to hang the (now broken) blinds back up. From that point the blinds would not close and i had to install curtains to have some privacy. They kept promising they would come and replace the blinds but this never happened. Lets not even go there with the noisy neighbors. Stereos up at max at all hours of the night. When i called to complain i was told it wasnt their problem, and i could call the police if i had an issue. That was 5 months of sleep i missed because the police told me this was a landlord issue.When i moved out i gave them ample notice (90 days) and i was out on time. They never provided instructions, so i did what i did with all apartments - i left the key on the counter when i left. I got a call several hours later from someone who had a massive attitude and saying that i was going to be charged extra for staying late. I calmly told her that i left 3 hours before my deadline and i had left the key on the counter. Fast forward 8 months later, a sheriff comes knocking on my door to serve me a lawsuit. The address on the paper was wrong so i hadnt gotten any of the notices they claim to have sent me. Apparently, they took my entire deposit and were still demanding $770 in damages. Some of the damages i will agree with - the grout cleaning and carpet cleaning (it is stated in the lease these charges will happen), maid service for deep cleaning, fixing the blinds in the bedroom (yes we accidentally broke those), and fixing a hole in the wall that was left when the back of my couch broke. However, they added on several charges for things like disgusting and sticky countertops (i not only wiped them down with disinfectant wipes, i left the rest of the wipes on the counter), smell away treatment (i left the windows open because of the strong bleach smell from cleaning), a towel hooked ripped off the wall (WHAT????), and $250 for the blinds in the front room that fell on me and gashed my leg open. I called and paid the balance in full (at this point it was $900) because i cant afford a lawyer and dont have the time off to go to court - and they know this. Do yourself a favor - dont let the pretty apartment and cheap price fool you. These people are crooks and prey on honest, hard working individuals. I saw these SAME complaints in several reviews and chose to ignore them, and now i am stuck $900 poorer for it.

Complete and absolute slumlords. do not rent here
