I would never go to that nail salon again. Kelly’s station was dirty I called in for a price and they gave me one price and then they charged me a different price. Poor quality

I used to go here frequently. On my last visit I complained that they were filing my nails way too far down to the nail bed. They switched my technician, had a manager hover over us, and say I needed to pay upfront, before the service was over! They have never required upfront payment before. What if I decided I wanted something additional?... I told them I was ready to go. I left. Never going back.

I got powder on my nails for the first time. I also received a pedicure. I told the guy I wanted the same color for both my fingernails and toes. After I got home I realized that the colors did not match. Also the powder on the nails was real thick. I think he was maybe new, but still Im very disappointed with the aesthetics of thick and wide nails . My nails are normally not wide . Poor quality for the cost

The technician Kelly was rude. Rush through my service. She was more focus on who came through the door. Booked an appointment online I thought I would get better respect. I needed my nails short she refused to make it short told me won’t look right. I hate this green I wanted a different green. She didn’t smooth the ridges on my nails. My fingers was burning the whole service. Nail polish was all over my foot. The place was nice just picked the wrong person. She didn’t handed me a menu her Co worker handed it to me I didn’t get my full pedicure service. I was trying to be nice I didn’t want to be that customer.

Ive been going there since they opened ! Good service is not consistent so I stopped going to everyone. Tony is the only one that I go to now. He knows what he doing so that saves me time, energy and complaints! Overall its a great nail bar. The salon is clean and relaxing. Prices are fair with 5% off when paying cash. Manager is very nice and professional. This will stay my to go place as long as Tony is there.

Jessica is an excellent nail technician. She is always available and reliable. Evertime I have an appointment at Modo, she is very patient with my expectations of how i want my nails completed. I recommend all ladies to see her for nail services.

I’ve been going to Modo Nails since they opened and the service has been acceptable until today. Johnnie is great. I always tip well for every service. This evening I stopped in to see if I could get 2 nails that came off prematurely (done by a tech there a week or so ago) repaired. Lee told me to have a seat which I did...after sitting for 15 mins seeing people come and go and techs walk around I very nicely and politely asked was someone going to be available soon...initially he ignored me, pretending he didn’t hear me, then he just looked at me and continued to do whatever he was doing so I left. Lee is polite when I’m getting a $100 service done but I was not a priority simply getting 2 nails repaired. I am really taken aback by the fact that he was blatantly rude for no reason. This once again proves these establishments have no respect for people of color, only for our money. Most unfortunate.

Absolutely would not recommend this place. I got dip nails done from here this past Monday and it’s now Thursday and one has already chipped off. I can paint my own nails at home and they would last longer than this. Plus, there are various spots that are wider than my nail and on my actual finger. My nails always last 4 weeks (just grown out) from the place I usually go. This was such a waste of time and money.**

Needed to desperately get my nails done. Googled to see the closest nail shop open on the 4th and Modo came up. Walked in and sat down with Lana who did an amazing job removing the old dipping powder and applying fresh powder. I am very pleased with my nails.

Fancy outside but not good enough!I tried this place yesterday just for the clean-up(standard Mani-Pedi) without nail polish. I was seated in timely manner upon arrival.Pros:-Place is really fancy looking-Front desk staff is very friendly and speaks English-They have polish colors in nails forms so you can see how its going to look on your nail roughly.-Lot of staff to avoid wait time if no preference I assume.Cons are included in my story below:The person (Kelly) who did my Mani-Pedi had no interest in smiling or greeting me or asking me what I am getting done. I was taken to my chair with really broken remote where you cant even see buttons. They could have choose chair with working remote since the whole room was full of empty chairs. At the start of soaking I immediately felt like its going to be a rushed job from the get go. Since nail beds were clean so quick. She was kind enough to glue my trauma damaged toe nail. After almost half-way few more customers and a big group of friends came in. I noticed they were offered drinks and food while they were seated. After hearing all of this Kelly offered me (felt like she had to) if I like anything to drink. I told her that I do not want nail-polish and I would like nails cut very short. She started talking loud to herself every-time I asked her to do something. I feel like she didnt like me asking her to cut my nails short. She cut all the nails really really bad like she was bit mad. Check out the pictures I took after coming home. I am saving her time on painting my nail without saving $ amount. The nail glue she put on was spread a bit and was extremely hard and very spiky so I asked her to do a little clean-up after wards.I have never been done this fast for feet cleaning in the past. I would start talking randomly to make the whole experience little friendlier. She did okay job for my hands but nail were not files properly and you can feel the rough nails when you touch. When I ran my hands over fabric it catches. I tipped her out of habit so I dont feel guilty.First-thing I had to do is come home and file the rough hand nail edges and really file toe nails to make it bit reasonably straight so I can look at them.I am definitely not going back to this place.

I went there had scheduled my appt online days before the only thing good was the massage my nails were done so sloppy and finger nails thin and ragged at edges snatching on clothing like they’ve been done less than a week and already cracking and breaking Smh

My nails were everything and more that I wanted! 😊Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is because the manager was rude and yelled at the nail technician right in front of everyone in the salon. The reason being because a customer was being rude and impatient. Instead of politely telling the customer to hold on and having the nail tech’s back, he decided to be get loud and rude to the nail tech. It created a hostile environment, hopefully he works on his communication skills as well as that impatient customer.

I had a really good experience with the manager doing my dip nail manicure. My nails actually last 3 weeks. He was very professional and accommodating. Now I’ve been here about 7 times before this experience. And every time it was hit or miss. It was either the shape, color was transparent or something was off. So although they have plenty of technicians to choose from, I will only be going to the manager that sits on the right hand side. He’s legit! I’m stilllll getting compliments on 3 week old nails.

I tried something new and loved it! I brought them a picture of how I wanted my nails designed and I left with my nails looking better than intended! Everyone loves my 3D bows! I was concerned that they would get in the way of me completing daily tasks but overall that was not the case. I only had slight issues when it was time to do my hair, but my fingers never really got stuck. Thanks!!!

I recommen Seynat, she is the best technician they have!!!i gave them one star because supposedly it’s a place treat yourself and relax but there’s been many time where the MANAGER ( old guy that’s always in the register) has yelled at his employees Infront of their customers, which makes the place very tense and unprofessional, specially when you spent more then 300 dólar to treat yourself.😬 My daughters and I felt uncomfortable with the situation, the customers around us caught on, and by the look of their faces they felt uncomfortable as well. We explained to him that it is looks unprofessional and disrespectful to yell at his employees in front of the customers ibut he said their was rules they had to follow and wasn’t understanding the point. At the end we didn’t feel sorry for the person he yelled at, we felt sorry for this guy who is lock of professionalism and leadership.

This is my third time at the mood nail bar in laurel....each time I have the same tech Lisa . The front desk gentleman is always welcoming and smiling . Lisa does an amazing job I’ve never had a polish issue with her with that being said she can lose focus when on the phone but besides that this place is wonderful and is one of my top places

Honestly, I received the worst pedicure ever in my life yesterday at Modo Nail bar. I left with dead skin still on my feet. The technician did not offer any pedicure spa options. She did not offer any beverages. She literally rushed through my entire pedicure. She didnt even offer callous removal.It took her a total of 30 seconds to apply nail polish to both feet, and that included the second layer. Being me, I tipped her out of habit, but she did not deserve it at all. She was so unprofessional. She did just enough to say she did something. She was very nonchalant. My feet do not feel smooth like I just got a pedicure at all. Honestly, I will go get another pedicure in the morning at a different salon. I would provide a picture but honestly I embarrassed. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. She looked surprised when I tipped her. I have a flipping terminal degree. I cant believe I was treated the way I was, clearly because of my race. I have seen so many social media post about this (nail salons, convenience stores, liquor stores) but never experienced this fist hand. #buyblack

It was mediocre. Their pedicure lasted about a week and they only spent 20 minutes on my friend and I. I did think it was interesting that they were only accepting cash, especially with the pandemic going on. They have an ATM inside. Don’t listen to the man, there is a surcharge.

If I could give this place below zero I would. Ive seen some good ratings for a few of the techs at this place, but they should have more than 2 or 3 people who can do nails. Lilly did my pedicure i ask her to clean the bowl first before putting the lining in the bowl, because there was something in the bowl. She pointed to the plastic bag I told her again I would like for her to wash the bowl out and she did and then said something in her language. She began doing my pedicure and I ask her a question and she ignored me so I ask her do you hear me and she replied replied like I was bothering her. Oh and that metal scraper that was passed from one person to another. That instrument should be banned. Also, if you still decided to use this place make sure you ask for a new file and scrubber. The person next to me had two dark nails and one nail had a hole in it and I watched them put the instruments back in the basket. My tech was very rude and did not do a good job on my feet. The polish is coming off already and its been only 3 days. My daughter ask me didnt I just get my nails done because they look a mess. Also, all the workers were talking amongst themselves in there language and I can only imagine what there topics were. I will definitely not be returning to this nail salon way too expensive for the service thats provided.

I had Kathy for both my green tea pedicure and gel manicure. She did great with the gel polish and massage, but she seemed VERY rushed even though it was a slow business time. I was in and out of there in less than 1 hr...wishing I felt more relaxed.

This nail salon is posted under Black Owned 😨 The time that my husband and I went there I only saw people that appeared to be from the continent of Asia and most importantly horrible service. My husband left there with open wounds on his feet.

I LOVE coming to see Daliss she is the BEST! She is all about nail care. She does the best designs and is so personable. The atmosphere here is so warm, welcoming, and beautiful.

Overall, this is great for Nails and pedicures. Not lashes, the young lady that tried to do my lashes didnt seem like she knew what she was doing.

I was in town for a reunion and I had free time so I was roaming around looking for a salon to get my manicure done. Found this place after awhile and when i went in I was just amazed with how nice this place is. Its very clean. The techs are very polite and friendly. From what I noticed, they clean their stations after every customer. The nail tech working on me was very focus on fulfilling all my needs and making sure I was comfortable. The results when she was done was just WOW! I just love how my nails looked now compare to how they looked when I go to other salons. Just love it! I highly recommend anyone living in the area to come here! You wont regret it one bit!

Five Stars for Tony! I would definitely recommend making an appointment in advance to avoid the wait and risk having a new technician each time. Is it pricier than other shops nearby? Sure. But I feel safe knowing the extra few dollars allow me to see new tools, good service and a glass or two of mimosas. Ive never had anything but compliments on my nails and Ive never needed to go back to fix a chipped/broken nail, even when I stretched my appointments a month apart!

I really like this place, initially I did have a problem having a tech help me because not all of them know how to do ombré nails, but they still were able to assist me. The techs are nice, the place is very clean, spacious and it doesn’t look overcrowded and unorganized. I like the customer service they provide and how quickly they attend people. Overall, it’s a great place to get your nails done (mani, pedi, acrylic, gel; etc) and because I pay attention to detail, I can say that I have found a place that I truly like. I stopped going to the previous nail shop I used to get my nails done, which means I have to drive an additional 15 mins, but I’d rather drive further for great customer service.

Always have a great experience when I come to this salon.... Tiffany was wonderful and very pleasant and took very great care of me. I am very satisfied with my Nails😊👍🏾

My sister and I went here when it first opened. They didnt do the best job on our nails (they were uneven, the paint was sloppy, it only lasted a couple of days), but they were new so we chalked it up to them needing time to get it together. We went back this weekend to give them a second chance and we will never be returning. Her manicure was very sloppy and the guy intentionally didnt paint the whole nail and then was upset when he had to fix it.I got a pedicure and the pedicurist absolutely butchered my foot. She kept shredding the callus off until she shredded my skin off and there was blood everywhere. Even AFTER that, she continued to use the pumice stone and argued with me when I asked her to stop. It was excruciating. Two days later and its still incredibly painful to walk. After this happened, she began speaking with the pedicurist next to her about the situation and they started laughing about it. The cut went around the outside of my heel. 0/10 will not recommend this place is HORRIBLE.

Gel manicure started lifting and chipping after just 3 days.

Tiffany USED to be great; however, the last 2 times I went, I was cheated out of my paraffin. I kept reminding her...she said, At the end. At the end the time before last, she said, Thank you, see you next time, without giving me the paraffin I paid for. So, I discounted the job, paid less in cash, did not tip her, and walked out. Fair is fair. The time after that...Same thing, after I kept reminding her. She did it again. I went to the desk, spoke with the manager, didnt pay and never returned. Horrible customer service. Horrible techs. I live near here and it was convenient, but not worth the ridiculousness. A total mess.

If I could give .5 stars I would. Our nail technician was on vacation, and we forgot to make an appointment before he left. My daughter and I decided to try this place. Aside from the unfriendly atmosphere, the work was HORRIBLE. My daughter paid $40 for a full set with clear polish, I paid $35 for a fill in that took about 15 minutes (rush job). Within 5 days every last one of my daughters nails popped off. (Not broke, popped) like they were Lee Press on nails). Three of my nails chipped. Never have I ever had such poor work done in the 23 years Ive been getting acrylic nails. Dont be fooled by the fancy name and chairs.

Modo Nail Bar in Laurel, MD is a great establishment. The receptionist is professional, the salon is very clean and I like that you get email reminders for your appointments. Most customers ask for wine but its nice that they offer refreshments for those of us who dont drink alcohol. The hot tea or water they provide is great.The Service--I am VERY picky about my nails so finding an establishment that checks all of the boxes is very difficult for me. The key for me was finding a technician that does nails the way that I like it and sticking with her. I had to kiss a couple of frogs but Ann is PHENOMENAL. If she leaves I might too (unless I can find someone else) but for now I am extremely pleased with the salon and their service. They are a bit pricey so if you are not in the habit of splurging on yourself there is a bit of sticker shock. I get the most expensive pedicure and gel manicure so on average I spend about $80 - $100 but I dont have to go as often so its basically a wash from the cost of the cheaper salon that I used to go to that had lines out the door, wasnt peaceful, and wasnt as clean. Every time that I have gone there it has been a pleasant experience.

I love my Tammy Ive followed here from two different places but no one does my pedicure or gels like her. I get in grows so if you do too definitely go to her. Also I work with my hands so my gels done thru anyone else last 2-3 weeks with her they last 3-4 weeks! I tip her well and she always squeezes me in. Build relationships with people who you need. I dont play with my stylist or nail tech!

They have some rude staff. Good ones too. I selected $45 service, the lady that attended to me told the manager that I selected $55 service. She kept going back and forth, that I must admit I was wrong and she was right.

This was my first time at this Salon and I must say I was very dissatisfied. I asked for a regular acrylic set, later the nail tech wanted to do gel but I specifically asked for a regular set. Prior to her not listening she was rough, cut me more than once on different fingers . As soon as I said I did not want gel her mood changed, she began doing a sloppy job and ended up leaving one of my nails not completely polished and lumpy. Although my nails were not up to par, my friends nails looked amazing (different nail tech) that’s where the second star comes from . I do not recommend Cindy I believe her name is .

This was my first time getting my nails done. A friend and I both got pedicures and acrylic white tips done. It was really nice inside; we sat in a little area in the back in massage chairs during the pedicures and they offered free drinks (which were delicious). Super relaxing, but they seemed to rush everything a bit, and technician cut my nail bed with that power tool thing.

Listed prices fail to accurately reflect the prices the salon will charge after services. I decided to get a regular manicure after removal of a previous powder/ gel manicure. I was constantly harassed during the manicure to upgrade to a gel manicure which I politely denied multiply times. The listed price for removal of polish from a gel manicure was $5.00. I was charged $10.00 instead at the end of the manicure. I was told since I failed to get another powder or gel manicure the price went up. These people are crooks!! Stay far away!

Have been going to Johnny for my nails for over a year now, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the knowledge, variety, and quality of work he provides ( a little pricey ) but you get what you pay for ☺️ so no complaints here!!

Seynat is awesome and the other staff are cool. My only complaint is that the pictures that are displayed on the wall dont honor the majority customer base that Modo Nail Bar services. All photos of non black women. Ive mentioned once before to management, they listened and put up one photo. That photo has been taken down and now we are back to square one. I find it extremely offensive that black women arent being honored on the walls of a shop where they represent 90% of the clientele.

I love the atmosphere but did not enjoy my pedicure. The nail tech rushed through my pedicure so I decided not to spend another dime. When I told her I didnt want a manicure any longer she slowed down on my pedicure which at first she was going to skip the paraffin dip and massage. Weird! I will not return!!!

The technician, Johny was so rude! I came to get my artificial nails removed. Agreed price was $10. He asked me to pay an addition $5 for him to trim down the roughness on my nails (a part of the nail removal process. I said NO. then he had an attitude about it. So I left. Rude staff, don’t spend your money here.

Not going back. I been here multiple times since I live down the street. They always rush and do sloppy work. Usually I never have broken nails but every time I go here I have one within the week. Within 24 hours the polish on one nail started chipping off. My nails never last to the two week mark.... Sometimes they offer you a drink, last time I went the person next to me was offered a drink by her nail tech and the customer asked what they have and my nail tech answered her but never offered me anything which felt rude.

It didnt feel nearly as sanitary as the spa I usually go to, and everything was definitely rushed. I tried to make an appointment, but they didnt even care about that when I got there. Best just to walk in.But if youre desperate and in a rush, go to Mimi.

I have been a great client at Modo nail for a few years now! I was treated very badly tonight visiting Tony for a pedi and gel fill! I was so disappointed that he was going to charge me for a nail design that had smeared and when I asked if he could take it off he raised his voice and said “no if I take it off I have to redo the nail”! But isn’t that the point I’m paying $75 to have a experience to come back again. After letting him know that it was smeared he kept saying it’s only a little bit. Why pay extra for nails that are messed up! I was so unhappy tonight and can’t believe how I was treated I will never visit this place ever again! It was a rush job because it was Tammy birthday and I hope somebody reaches out to address my issue.

I have tried this place a few times because its so close but i just cant go there anymore.The polish is clumpy. The customer service is horrible. It always seems like they feel they are doing you a favor if you aske for a design or ask questions they are annoyed. They cut my cuticles and did not at all seem concerned when I was in pain and just wanted to get finishedPlace is gorgeous, but not worth it.

Not sure if it was an off day for the guy who did my nails but he was very rude and unprofessional. I didnt catch his name, unfortunately. He was rushing the service and didnt care whether I liked my nails or not. He got huffy when I asked him to remove the polish from my two nails that he painted, because I didnt like how the color looked on me. Why would he get upset about that? I have a right not to like a color and since Im PAYING, I care whether I like them or not. I spoke with the manager to inform him how his staff was behaving and he wasnt much help either. He told me they were having a staff meeting tonight. That wasnt very reassuring. It was my first and last time there.
