Ten years ago, Desert Memorial personnel were kind, understandingand compassionate when my mother-in-law passed. When my husband passed unexpectedly in April of this year, my daughters and I selected Desert Memorial to again guide the family through this difficult time. Kristen and the staff members once again went above and beyond in helping our family.Thank you to all!

Up date: There was a communication problem due to my sister was the one that set everything up so I ended up out of the loop. Kristen call and explained everything to me so everything is good now. 7 to 14 business days, ha. It has now been 20 days and every time I call to check I get a different answered of what the situation is. I have asked for Kristen to call me twice and no phone call to date. Kristens email address on her business card does not work. I have emailed to the info in the website and no answer.

My sister and I came from Hawaii to Las Vegas to assist with the care of our mother who eventually passed. We called several mortuaries recommended by Hospice and we chose Desert Memorial because the woman on the phone (who later we found out was Sharon) had a very compassionate and sincere tone. Meeting her in person just confirmed what we felt. We went into the office after having trouble completing the online form and Sharon helped us. A few days later we went back to meet with the director Kristen and we appreciated the time she took to explain in further detail what to expect. We would have loved to have carried mom home to Hawaii with us but we didnʻt want to stay in Vegas longer than absolutely necessary. It would have taken at least 2 weeks if not more. Let me add that the men who picked mom up from her home were very compassionate and respectful. We truly appreciated it. As promised, Mom arrived within the time frame stated and we are happy to have her home. Other than the incorrect birthdate on her nameplate (Kristen is already on it), Desert Memorial offered great service and a great price too.

I just want to share the unprofessional approach this funeral home made when picking up my moms body. As my family stood by in grief, two regular individuals showed up in jeans and hoodies, put her in a disposable bag, tied a sheet around her and carried her out of the house like a piece of trash, then loaded her into a minivan. No badges, no sympathy for the family whatsoever. I’m sorry but you don’t contract this type of service out. This service deserves professional services and a suited vehicle to carry out such a delicate service. Shame on you!!!

Kristen and the staff at Desert Memorial were both professional and compassionate during a most difficult time for my family. With Covid restrictions in place, it was frustrating and overwhelming to navigate the cremation process for our loved one; however, once we placed our loved ones care in the hands of the Desert Memorial staff, they lifted our burden and allowed us to grieve without worry. Our heartfelt thanks go out to them.

Kristen and other Desert Memorial staff were very helpful throughout the death, funeral, and cremation of my Ma.We decided as a family to have an in person viewing and the venue was accommodating, private, and was simple yet profound process for me.We also had a witness cremation, where we participated in the burning up of our loved one. I recommend this for everyone - there’s nothing quite as concrete as seeing your family member slide into a crematory. The staff we’re understand and accommodating, not much more I could ask for.I live a few thousand miles away from Las Vegas and my experience jumping through hoops (emotional and otherwise) after a death was made much easier with Kristen and her team. It’s not easy moving through this process. Not only do we have to deal with difficult emotions but we have to deal with difficult paperwork, etc..The Desert Memorial staff were super helpful, kind, and considerate. There were hiccups, as there always is in life. Better than perfection, Kristen and her team made the process super easy and simple.Being a crematory and burial service must be tough work. I’m thankful our family did business with Desert Memorial. If you’re reading this either you may have had a loved one die. It does suck. Our family worked with Desert Memorial and it was made much easier. All the best,Jacob

Sharon was very nice and forthcoming with the information and professional in explaining the whole process to me. I felt really relaxed and calm after being treated so nicely. The room that I sat and waited in was so peaceful and quiet that I immediately felt better. This is a super stressful time losing someone, but Desert Memorial was not, I am so glad that I chose them over anyone in this town!I was having a hard time doing it online because I have an ancient computer, so Perla printed out all of the paperwork and let me bring it back the next day. I really thought that it was nice because I was so nervous and upset about my husbands passing just the day before. She even brought it out to my car for me. When I spoke to Kristen on the phone, I just knew that these ladies were going to take good care of me, she was so compassionate and empathetic and I didnt feel rushed at all. Thank you Desert Memorial, I will be referring anyone that I know to use your services!

Desert Memorial was very unprofessional. They sent one of there transporters to my dad up from his home and they came in an SUV and didn’t even have a uniform shirt on. The place didn’t send a Second person to help and my brothers had pick my dad up and transport him to the gurney themselves because the lady couldn’t and she couldn’t get the gurney into his room. Then she layed the paper work on his head because she didn’t know where he was being transported. Then when we went to their office they rushed in and out. Didn’t offer condolences, they didn’t ask us if we wanted any momentous. They didn’t speak to us with any concern. I could have been shopping for washer the way they treated us and my deceased father.

We had to use this place in September 2018 for my dads death and again this September 2019 for my moms death. My dads hospice facility recommended Desert Memorial and they were absolutely fabulous with dealing with my mom and my family to make arrangements. So it was only natural and obvious to me that I’d use the same company for my mom this year. From the body pick up to the very end of the burial/cremation, they were great, kind, compassionate, and professional. The last thing you want to do, but they made it so smooth and easy to handle the tasks of planning your parents last wishes. Thank you Kristen Anderson and the entire crew at Desert Memorial for outstanding work!

When you’re tired, sad, angry & mourning, the last thing you feel like doing is a review. Now that a month has gone by, I want to recognize the wonderful staff at Desert Memorial for their kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion and thoroughness. It really was the best it could be. First, Kristen was amazing. She provided excellent follow through and wanted us to be happy. You can tell she really cares about her job. Even though this sounds odd, my nephew looked amazing in the casket. It really helped provide closure for our family. The front office staff was so kind and comforting. Additionally, many thanks to the funeral attendants Kunta & Mr Williams. You all deserve to be recognized for your dedication and service. It can’t be an easy job. I’m grateful we were blessed to have your care.

We used Desert Memorial 2 times last year. Once for my grandmother and again for my niece. They were amazing! My grandmother was a simple cremation no frills. We bought her urn on eBay. So everything was so super easy. Then in November 2015 for my niece. Kristen assisted us this time. She was very courteous and very helpful. We choose cremation again no urn but this time we added on the last viewing. Some of our family needed closure. Again Kristen was fabulous the viewing paid for I believe was for 1 hour. I swear we were in there for like 2 or more. I dont know if time just slipped by her because she was so very busy or maybe she just knew that my aunt needed this time so badly and she showed such empathy and compassion it made our final goodbyes that more amazing. I highly recommend them. I am writing this today because I forgot to a while back and I find myself needing them again today for my young niece who passed away yesterday. So this will now be our 3rd time going back to them.

DO NOT LET YOUR LOVED ONES GO TO DESERT MEMORIAL CREMATION & BURIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The WORST PLACE IN TOWN!!!!If I could pick 0 stars I would! (this was my 2nd encounter with them since 2012- I gave them the benefit of the doubt this time, WORST decision I ever made!) Our beloved passed away very young and unexpectedly on Fathers Day 6/19/16. Our family met with Desert Cremation on 6/22/16 to get the cremation procedure started so our loved one could rest as soon as possible. We were told it would take around 3 weeks to receive his ashes.7/11/16 (2 1/2 weeks) We called just to check if he was ready and were told NO, call back next Monday.7/18/16 (3 1/2 weeks) We called again NO, call back next Monday. 7/25/16 (4 1/2 weeks)- AGAIN! we were told NO, maybe this Friday and there was a delay because the coroner didnt release the body until 7/20/16.Not feeling comfortable with what was said, I called the Coroners office as soon as they opened the next morning 7/27/16 (5 weeks) to find out what happened. I was told Desert Cremation didnt even send the paperwork to the Coroner until 7/19/16 and I would need to contact Desert to find out why. I called Desert Cremation @ 11:45 am, spoke with the Director Kristin, asked her what was going on with our loved one... she informed me he was cremated this morning and even agreed that the process took too long. She said she would find out what happened and either herself or the manager would call me back directly. I did not want the children to know what has happened to their father. Instead of calling me back, they called my nephew @ 2:30pm to inform him the ashes were ready to be picked up. Not knowing there was a problem with his dads handling, he went to obtain his ashes. When he arrived, Chris, the manager, told him the delay was caused by his staff member JESSICA who handles the death certificates. She made a type error causing a halt in his cremation process! This really threw my nephews emotions for a loop. Chris was informed he needed to call me back with the info as I was the one who originally called. Chris gave him his personal cell # and said for me to call him. My nephew just left and informed the rest of the family what happened.I called Chris, he told me the same thing regarding the error that JESSICA had made. I asked if it was even possible to cremate someone and be able to pick them up on the same day? Morbidly/insensitively, he answered Yes, we start our cremations @ 6am because its too hot in the afternoon to run the ovens. Seriously? No class at all! I asked if they would be calling us when the death certificates arrive. He said they only order them in certain situations and he would have to check the paperwork as he was already driving at the time and he would call me back in the AM.Throughout the night, our family couldnt rest with the way this was handled, so I went to the office @ 9am when it opened to meet with Chris myself on behalf of the family. After waiting for 25 minutes for him to arrive, he asked what else he could do for me since we had already spoke on the phone. I told him a simple Im sorry wasnt good enough. I explained how our family scrambled to put put the cash together so we could handle this as quickly as possible. I asked when should the paperwork of been sent to the Coroner, he said within 3 days (6/25/16) IT WASNT SENT UNTIL 7/19/16!!!!!!!!!! our loved one sat in their refrigerator for 1 MONTH due to a typing error made by an irresponsible employee named Jessica! Chris told us it was a simple mistake, SIMPLE???!!! In this line of business their should be no mistakes! Thank goodness she isnt a doctor! Desert wouldnt be able to keep up with all the business she would be sending!!!This was a HUGE blow to our family! How can a company in this line of business be so apathetic, irresponsible and rude?! No respect for the deceased or loved ones left behind!!! One thing for sure, a new staff, starting with management, should be the first item on the list if this company plans to change for the better!

A completely horrific experience. They did not get the information correct on the death certificate, and then informed us their mistake was our fault. To correct the mistake we would have to pay a considerable amount more in fees to correct their mistake. In addition, the people that were in charge and who we spoke to were completely rude about the whole circumstance of their error. Shame on them. After suffering a loss like this, you would think there would be a little more compassion in this type of business. Im sadly disappointed, and would not refer or suggest Desert Memorial Cremation & Burial Society to anyone. Please feel free to share their incompetence. Im only lighting up one star because it will not let me post otherwise, and they deserve zero stars.

My mother passed away and she had prepurchased a creamation package, paid in full. It included 50 prayer cards that she had already picked out. When we went to sign the contracts we were told that the style she chose was out of stock and no longer available. If its already paid for why wouldnt those 50 cards be set aside at the time it was arranged and the down payment was given? So it was no big deal at first, we chose something similar to it. Well the day of the service arrives with NO prayer cards. We asked when we were there. Response was they were looking into it. Service ends. Still no prayer cards. Didnt even follow up with us about them before we left . Then today I called to see when I could drop off my urn to be filled with the others from my family. Left a message and no return call. My sister called them and told me that the staff was totally rude with her. First they told her that the urns could be dropped off today or tomorrow by 5pm. Then she was told that they all had to be dropped off at the same time, that they were not going to wait around for everyone to drop theirs off. As for the prayer cards she was told they had made a mistake on them and the amount paid would be refunded. What a way to treat grieving family members. We will NOT ever use this place again. Nor will I ever recommend them to my friends or family. Word of advice to the company. Get some better customer service training for your employees. Maybe some compassion and sympathy classes would do them a world of good.

My brother and I chose Desert Memorial to perform our dads cremation since their reviews were good and their rates were low. We dealt with Kristen Anderson, and we told her to ship our dads remains to his former Kentucky address only if they could do so prior to his memorial service. Otherwise, she was to refund the shipping charge and provide me with instructions on when and where to pick up my dads remains.About two (2) months after my dads memorial service, Desert Memorial finally conducted my dads cremation and sent his remains to his former address in Kentucky, without notifying us and against our prior instructions. They only told me about this after I inquired about it. Now, they are attempting to wash their hands of the matter, forcing us to attempt to clean up their mess, so to speak.I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere, since no one wants to deal with this companys mistakes in addition to the pain of the loss of ones loved one.

Its hard enough dealing with the death of our loved ones, then having to make their final arrangements is very emotional.I wanted the viewing package, so we could say our final good byes to my Mom. I picked out a nice dress, few cosmetics (face mk up, blush, lipstick) I was told that they do NOT apply make-up, nor do they dress the deseased. Ok I was not happy about this but went along with the program.I asked the planner where would we have the viewing at? I was told it would be in the Chapel.I also asked the planner what exactly would my Mom be viewed in (casket, etc) I was told dont worry shes gonna look like shes sleeping and will be covered wit all white blanket, pillow, etc.At that particular moment I was overcome with emotions & forgot to ask again exactly what would my Mom be viewed on (casket etc) this question remained un-answered by the planner for obvious reaaons, which I will describe in a moment. The day of the viewing we arrived to say our final good byes, we brought flowers, poster boards with family pix, we brought a small radio & softly played my Moms fav music.Upon being led into the viewing room in the Chapel, there I seen my Mom laying on a very visable Coroners Silver Gurnee, they didnt even try & conceal the Gurnee, that sight will remain wit me for the rest of my LIFE...Where is the DIGNITY with this?Upon getting closer to my Mom I was in for yet another shock, they had NOT combed her hair, I get it, they dont apply mkup to the decessed but they could have ran a brush through her hair so she could have looked presentable...Where is the DIGNITY with this??I was told they do NOT dress the deceased in their own clothing, however according to the planner I was told my Mom would be in all white, from the pillow, blanket & I assumed some sort of white night gown or robe would be provided for my Mom to wear, being that they would NOT accept an outfit for my Mom.Imagine a cheap motel looking ratty BLUE blanket well thats what they had TOSSED over my Mom, thats right a BLUE blanket not the WHITE blanket I was told would be drapped over her.If the above mentioned scenario wasnt enough to make a SANE person go INSANE then Dessert Memorial had one final BLOW to deliver.Upon stepping closer to my Mom I looked down at what she had on & to my sheer HORROR, she was still wearing the same hospital issued gown (with blood stains on it) when she had PASSED AWAY!!!WHERE WAS THE DIGNITY & RESPECT MY MOM DESERVED TO BE SHOWN UPON HER FINAL RESTING SPOT??Dessert Memorial was paid in FULL, they made promises to me that were NOT kept. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE Of My Life!!I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!Roxanne Gomez
