Another great experience with National Car Rental this time at the Lafayette Louisiana airport. As is typical, National made the process very quick, easy and efficient. In no time at all I was in my vehicle and on my way and returning the vehicle was even faster and easier. Both Associates that I interacted with were very friendly and accommodating. All of this is why National is my first choice for rental car needs.
The employees at this location are great each time I visit. The only downside is the amount of available cars. you pretty much have to take what you can get, regardless of your selection. but the employees do their best to fulfill your needs. Corporate should really revaluate their placement of additional vehicles for this location.
Dropping this review to one star. My last four rentals: flat tire, broken windshield, awful stench that even made our garage stink, and extensive animal hair. Ive waited over an hour for a car more than once, and they NEVER have what I book or want. If only there was some sort of reservation system that could track inventory and make reservations valid....This company has really fallen in the past year or so. Even before the pandemic, they were getting less customer focused and more rigid. Plus, quality is falling, yet they remain one of the most expensive brands. I get dirty cars 100% of the time, and Ive recently had 3 cars with cracked windshields. Ive waited over an hour for a car the last 4 times Ive rented, and employees just dont seem to care. Loyalty programs only make up for so much, its time for a change.
Employees were very un-motivated to be there. Waited about 30 mins for a car that I did not get a say so in what it was. It was a Lincoln so nicely equipped but definitely been smoked in. I can not stand cig smoke.
I am a loyal customer of National. Never ad major issues but this last times I felt completely unappreaciated. I rented a compact SUV and they ended up giving me a mini Van. I went back to see if it was a misunderstanding and the only response I got back was that is the only thing available today. So then why did I had the option to select someting else??I didnt like the mini van at all, too big and too bulky for me so I returned the next day.
I rented a vehicle for 1 day with National at the Lafayette airport and upon return I left a pair of new sneakers in the trunk. I immediately went back the next morning to inquire if the sneakers were found and experienced the worst customer service ever. All I wanted to know was if the sneakers were found. The agent said that due to COVID-19 they discard everything left in the vehicle. I asked her if the vehicle was re-rented or being cleaned and she refused to assist me and said she did not know where the vehicle was. I wish National would be considerate of my things as I was considerate of their vehicle.
The ladies at the National Car Rental place at the Lafayette airport continue to treat me as a valued customer and always provide excellent service. I would highly recommend using National car rental at Lafayette airport any day. I rent cars from them all the time and they always provide me with the best car available and theyre always very professional and courteous. I cannot say enough good things about these ladies.

The National rental car at Lafayette airport was the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. I waited 2 hours for my car along with 10 other people. We all had reservations in advance. Apparently there is only one person that cleans the cars while there were 5 employees standing behind the desk talking to each other while we all waited and waited and waited. I guarantee if they were paid on incentive rather than by the hour, they all would have been out there cleaning cars and getting people on their way.
Worst National location in the US! Today I had to wait in line 50 minutes just to have them tell me it may be another hour wait for a car. I had a reservation - doesn’t matter. I have the highest status you can have with their frequent rental program - they don’t care. They are blaming Covid and the hurricane, but no other rental company at the airport has this problem. No lines at Hertz or Avis. Their customers got cars and are gone, but National and Enterprise customers are waiting hours. This is the third time this has happened to me at this location. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Book Hertz or Avis instead. Management here is terrible. They do not plan ahead to have cars for their reservations, and do not have sufficient staff to handle their business.Update: Per Nationals response below, I sent them all my info. I received essentially a form response back saying they would have management from the local office contact me. Never heard from anyone again. I stand by my review above.
Employees were friendly though they seemed understaffed. I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes when returning my car. I was not given a choice of cars. The car I was given smelled of cigarettes and the windshield wiper reservoir was empty. I had to stop and purchase fluid on my own dime. When I told the attendant upon return she was uninterested.Follow-up :Every time I reserve a care from this location there is a problem. Whether it is a damaged car or my car isn’t available. I ALWAYS have to wait 30 minutes to an hour to get my car. The staff is rude and have an “I don’t care attitude.” Today they are blaming the substandard service on the hurricane that occurred over a week ago. I live here! Arcadiana has hurricanes all the time and just keeps going. There is always an excuse as to way this location can’t do their job

I always rent from National when I need a car. The service is always great and all of the reps at the Lafayette location are courteous and extremely knowledgeable about any issues or questions that arise. I also really like the fact that the prices are good and Im able to earn free rental days so quickly. I highly recommend National for all of your rental car needs! ab
After having a confirmed reservation I had to wait 40 minutes on line and then 90 minutes until the car was ready.
Confirmed a rental through their app. Scheduled to pick up at 8:30pm for a business trip the next day. The lady working was very nice. She politely told me they didn’t have any cars available and the manager was supposed to call me before he left for the day. I didn’t have any messages or missed called. I am very displeased that the manager did not do as he said he did.
Love using National i always get a clean vehicle, and its fast and easy to get my car and return it.

As a frequent business traveler, National is my favorite to rent from. I can only expense a compact but nearly always get a free upgrade from the Emerald Aisle. And if my stay gets extended, my rental contract can be renewed by phone. Thank you National!
Upon arrival I received an email saying my car was ready. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There were no vehicles available when I got to the desk. I waited in front of the desk so I could be sure of getting the next available vehicle. A couple of vehicles arrived about 40 minutes later. I took what they had available. What they had for me was a vehicle with a cracked windshield. I was assured this was my only option so I took it. This is not the service I am used to with National. Im hoping this was an exception.
My experience with National at LFT was excellent. I was upgraded to a higher vehicle class when I checked in, and received a brand new, very nice vehicle with only 700 miles on it. When I returned the vehicle there was an attendant in the parking lot printing receipts so I never had to actually walk back into the airport. Quick and easy. I only wish other National/Enterprise locations in town would carry Sunday and holiday hours.
Ive been renting at this location about 2X a month for nearly 3 years and never had a problem. They always have my class of car(or better) and I never had to wait. Cars are always clean and the desk agents are friendly and personable.
Staff is always friendly and professional. Great car.I did notice shortly after I started my trip that the carpet (drivers side) wasn’t clean (had not been vacuumed) and the tank was less than ½ full from the previous rental. I called the desk agent and reported these items. I was asked if I filled the tank after I returned the vehicle.
Young lady @ the customer counter charged me on my CC on record not the company used credit card and could not get the money put back on the card for at least 48 hours. Also, I am at an Executive Status and was not give a great choice of cars to select from. Very disappointed in this location.
Great car and extremely clean but since they have counter only service they do not check the cars as closely as they should. I did not notice until I was on 1/2 way to Lake Charles that the tank was not full from the previous rental. Had to fill the tank and then top off again prior to the return which was a pain.
Always have my rental ready to go when i arrive. Staff is always friendly and professional. The staff at Lafayette Regional Airport is the main reason i continue to do business with National. Your team is great!
The agent at the desk neglected to give guidance towards the rental lot. The rental lot was in an odd space and required walking a distance with luggage on a very narrow sidewalk. I was forced to walk on the road as my rolling luggage (2 pieces) did not both fit on the sidewalk. After a long day of traveling, it was upsetting to have such a difficult time finding the lot and dragging luggage all over the place. There was no one in the security hut initially to help with questions. I asked an employee in a parking lot for the airport and they did not know where the rental lot was.The car I was provided was in relatively good condition though there was some cosmetic damage. The dashboard and steering wheel was not clean. It had many smudges and streak marks. I cleaned it.

When I picked up the Nissan Altima the gas tank was empty. There was also a large crack in the windshield right in my line of vision. When I went to the desk to request another vehicle, they only had a Dodge Caravan available which was too large for a 4 hour drive to a business meeting. The attendant offered to put gas in the car but that was going to take too long and cause me to be late for my meeting. So I filled it up myself and returned it with 1/4 of a tank of gas, which was more than what was in the car when I got it. Will never rent from National again.

They have a friendly staff and clean, low-mileage cars that are available when I need them. Thats really all Im looking for in a car rental company.
