If youre looking for a great local gym, veteran owned by the way, look no further. While they may look small and un-assuming from the outside, tucked in the corner of shopping center by the Lacey post office, this 20,000 ft² facility is a sleeper and is definitely worth checking out. This isnt one of those chain gyms that just want to keep you paying your monthly dues. These guys know their stuff and are willing and ready share their knowledge to help you meet your goals. Aside from all the training equipment you could ever want, this gym has great amenities. They carry a full line of supplements, theres a smoothie bar and a kids club. They even have an esthetician. And given the current Covid situation, I must say that I feel safe here. Members keep proper social distancing and individual sanitizer bottles and wipes are provided for every member to use. I highly recommend them.
The gym itself isn’t bad. The communication and other things are the issue. I was deploying and contacted them to let them know I was. I was told I needed to email their billing email address and inform them of this. BUT that I would still be billed for 2 more months because I didn’t fulfill my “contract”. Doesn’t make sense because I was deploying and shouldn’t have an obligation to pay any more since I was DEPLOYING!! But I still was like ok I’ll pay two months but cancel my membership. Well this is month 3 almost 4 and I’m still getting billed. Horrible way of doing things especially being military owned.
Absolutely love this gym! The employees are very friendly and amazing its definitely a gym that makes you feel like part of the family. I highly recommend this place!
Would not recommend to anyone. Had 3 months of unauthorized charges to my credit card after PCS move. Contacted owner via phone and email in December of 2020 and with zero response. Just had them try to charge me again 1 March 2021. Provided copy orders to cancel membership. Apparently they have verbiage in the contract that if you cancel within 6 months you pay a cancellation fee despite a copy of orders. Who does that.... Orders drop randomly. What’s worse is that the owner is a veteran. Reporting them to better business bureau. Beyond disgusted at their business tactics.
This gym has a Covid outbreak and has done nothing to protect their members or employees! My husband brought it home my entire family has it now and my aunt is currently in the hospital with it. This isn’t about finding someone to blame, it’s about the fact that we weren’t given notice of possible exposure since the owners were quarantined, so that we could have made an appropriate decision for our families needs. Had there had been a notice put out, there would be no bad review.*update that her COVID has turned into Pneumonia. She’s 37...
I love this gym. Its owned by a group of nice people and is very family oriented. The staff keep things very clean, which is important during this time, and everyone is really friendly.
I wish it would be 24 hours again, but good experience so far with equipment and other gym goers. A plus? The gym mirrors telling me good things about myself and the home mirror tells me something else! Good motivation I suppose.
If you are military... STAY AWAY! Apparently, regardless of deployment orders they will still charge $125 cancellation fee. They stated I signed the contract that states I will pay for 6 months or pay $125. So I paid. I was unaware that wasn’t waived for deployments because I’ve broken leases and memberships to other gyms many times for deployments, no questions asked, and I figured “veteran owned” means they know and understand this life. I went in with my orders and wasn’t given a clear answer at first and was told I’d receive a call back from the owner. It took constant calling and sending emails to get a response of what they are going to do for me for my membership. They fly the “VETERAN OWNED” banner high, but that is only a facade, they don’t take care of their own. It was a nice place to workout when I was a member. I do not recommend for military members.***Edit: Your facts are not straight. I brought the memo in early in the morning when I worked out on Wednesday march 17th and no, I did not expect an immediate response but I WAS however told that I would be receiving a call that morning about it, and I did not, I kept calling to talk to someone and finally said screw it I’ll just pay the fee, because as you stated, and so did your employee on the phone, I did in fact sign. Congrats bud, ya got me. Yes, it is a memo not “orders”, the way my unit employs is different than others but it is nonetheless considered operational and I do not need to explain that to anybody. This pandemic hasn’t only affected your gym, it’s affected the entire world, which also affected when I leave. And at one point I was possibly not ever going to leave. So, I didn’t bring it up to you guys because I had nothing set in stone until Tuesday March 16th, then immediately notified you guys. My memo signed from December, by my commander, that I use to BREAK MY HOUSING LEASE isn’t sufficient for your company, no matter the circumstances. Fine, it’s paid, you have your 142.22, and you also have this review.Note: any one looking to join that is in the military please read more reviews than I did before taking a friends word of mouth, I’m not the the only one.
I love this gym. It has everything I need to help me with my fitness goals.
After trying out almost every gym in the area over the past 8 years. I have to say that West Coast Fitness Lacey is hands down the best in the area!! Super friendly staff that are always helpful and smiling. Clean equipment that is fixed almost immediately when broken. Not to mention an atmosphere that is welcoming and accepting of everyone no matter what stage of their fitness journey they are on. I love this gym and I recommend it to everyone I know. Thanks for being the best gym in the area!!
Pros: unique equipment, good layout, sauna, 24hrs, you can use chalkCons: clique culture, shady/deceptive business dealings, unhelpful and untrained employees (they are way cooler than you)1.) Under the impression I would get a free month if I got a friend to join. Persuaded 3 friends to join but only got 1 free month.2.) Froze my membership for a couple of months no prob. Went to freeze it again employee didnt know how, said the owner would take care of it, never did. I was charged anyway.3.) Was told I had to come in and fill out paper work to cancel membership over the phone. Didnt need to when I showed up. Said Nick would take care of it. (lets see if I get charged another month)4.) Ive heard from multiple people that their frozen accounts were reactivated and being charged without them knowing. To end on a positive note. I went to this gym for over a year and made great fitness gains. They are definitely better than the other gyms around in terms of equipment. When they opened everything was great but I feel like things have kind of gone down hill a little bit. Would still recommend this gym over others in the area.
BEWARE!!! I joined this gym with family (wife and 16 year old daughter). My daughter was approached by several grown men in several occasions. I mentioned it to the staff and they were not concerned. It got to the point that we could not continue our membership as a family. I reduced our membership to a single, but was soon relocated back to Colorado so I canceled my membership. I sent in proof of residency in Colorado and thought it was dealt with. Three months later I was charged $88, $16, $16, $85, $44. When I called to ask about it I was told there was no record of our previous conversations. As a family of officers, military and medical we have been working hard during this pandemic and to be treated like this by a company that claims to be supportive of first responders is very disappointing. I tried talking to the owner and was treated VERY poorly and hung up on twice!9/4/20 update... they have continued to charge me $85 a month since I canceled my membership MONTHS ago! I have to cancel my debit card to get them to stop stealing my money. I have never written a bad review about a business and it does not feel good to do this. I have also filled a complaint to BBB. As a first responder family we are VERY disappointed in how this company advertises as a company who supports veterans, active duty and first responders and then has completely disrespected us and stolen hundreds of dollars from us.
Really dope spot for training. Owned by good kind friendly staff/veterans. Good amount of squat cages and DBs && tons of cardio equipment if that’s your thing.
I really wanted to like this gym. The owner is so shady with payments. Signed up with a first 2 months free deal, but charged those “free” months. When I cancelled, they told me the fee was $125 instead of $100 (which the paperwork emailed to me when I signed up stated it would be). Just wanted out because I was not impressed with this gym at all. Then they charged me again after cancelling! I called and they couldn’t find the paper that I signed to cancel. So unprofessional and disorganized. They make you feel like you are the problem, not them. Also, their equipment and layout is subpar. Overpriced gym for sure. Not a lot of options in this area for gyms but I highly recommend NOT going to this one to avoid the headache.
If you wanna get big in Lacey this is where you come.
It would have more stars, but every time I try to use the 24 hour access, the dang scanner never works.
Theres a reason it was voted the best gym in Thurston County. Owners, employees, and members alike are held to the same standard when it comes to respecting the gym and one another. Definitely the place to be for dedicated individuals looking to improve their fitness!
Great gym clean and friendly staff. Good trainers that have lots of experience and knowledge. Open with lots of pieces of equipment to choose from.
This is a great gym with great people. Lots of options for your workout, from cardio equipment to fixed and free weights. This gym is locally owned and pretty affordable. My only critique is that the ventilation could be better but I still give these folks 5-stars!
Awesome gym!!! Very community centered, great gym equipment and an awesome community that’s ever so encouraging!
Great training space and equipment that’s hard to find other places, clean and great staff. Would recommend!
I have been a member of this gym since February 2018 and I love it. Today the gym re-opened and all precautions were in place. We were all individually briefed on Covid19 safety and was given sanitizer and a towel to wipe machines before and after use. The locker rooms and sauna is still closed for safety reasons which is fine. This is a great gym to be a member, glad it is back open!!
Friendly staff, everything I needed for a great workout, and a great supplement selection, as well
Josh was Sensational.
Best place to work out friendly staff safe environment
I love this gym I have attended for 2 years now. Not many complaints just would like to see some updated equipment. But staff is friendly and very helpful.
LOVE this gym! Great atmosphere and community.
Nice an helpful
Vet owner, vet backed!! Excellent equipment, layout and supps with a vibe that’s motivating and complete. Great local gym. Go get it.
I started going to WCF because of the strong presence in the community outside of its four walls. I kept hearing and seeing respectable, committed gym goers recommend this gym for the cleanliness, equipment, and overall attitude. Highly recommend!
Beyond upset at this gym for not only lying to me once but twice! The first time I was told by a sales rep there that my membership would be $25 a month with my military. It wasn’t. It was $30. I’m not one to raise a fuss over $5 but they falsely advertised to me about my membership. Then when I decide to cancel my membership with them I was never told I had to do it 10 days before the 1st to avoid the charge. The girl told me to sign a document that stated when I wanted my membership canceled and I put 2/25. Simple. I get a charge today for March for a membership that is canceled and get attitude from the rep because that girl wants to lie and say she disclosed that to me. This girl didn’t even try to save me as a member to their gym and could frankly give two craps that I was canceling. I’m an army brat and I support veterans and was going to say nothing but nice things about this owner and his gym but I cannot and will not say anything nice about a place that employs people who want to lie to customers. I’ve been in customer service for 10 years and worked at 3 gyms in that time. I know how this works and if that women simply disclosed it to me I wouldn’t mind but she didn’t and she lied flat out instead of owning her mistake. Don’t recommend this place to anyone.
I loved this gym. But after covid, they dont care about their members. I was pushed towards termination of my membership instead being treated like a potential long term member of theirs, after asking about possible suspension of fees while they dont have childcare. Without childcare I cant go to the gym....and that is why I joined. It seems asinine to charge someone every month for a gym they cant use.....also when I asked for a receipt to explain my charges, (2 different amounts for my husband and myself) I was ghosted via email....so I tried to call. The employee I asked had no idea why I was being charged these prices....said the owner would call me back....but he didnt.Edit: In response to the owners reply.... zero personal acknowledgement to my frustrations were made. A simple copy and paste response further shows your carelessness for your members.
Got the hardest workout of my life in here. I started with some free weights, then hit the treadmill. Then they showed me the pool, that was nice. I noticed a full track behind the gym, and I love me some running so I was back at it. Then they had a helicopter land, and they said if I wanted to jump our with a parachute, todays the day. As I was descending, they shot off an amazing 4th-of-July-worthy fireworks display, and then they opened the roof over the pool. I detached from my chute and cannonballed into the pool. It was the most amazing 5 second drop of my life. Unfortunately, I landed in the shallow end and broke all my bones and am now typing this with my tongue. It has taken me about 2 solid weeks to get this far, but Ive got nothing better to do. Im at least very precise with the backspace key now. Anyways, this place ruined my life by giving me the most insanely awesome experience of my life, and it at least turned out better than my last marriage, so they deserve a solid 5 star rating. Thanks for having me be your first (and last) customer, Ill never forget it - at least not until the sepsis reaches my brain.
They have refused to stop charging me after I cancelled my membership. Ive been a member since this place opened, in Feb I moved away from Lacey and came in and signed paperwork to cancel my membership. They informed me I had missed the deadline to not be billed by March, unfortunate but fair enough. Its now June and they are still charging me, I thought this was a nice locally owned business not some ruthless corporate gym. Ive called, emailed, and messaged them on Facebook all without getting a response. Ive now directed my credit card to dispute all charges since April (I cancelled in Feb mind you).Edit: in their response they say I needed to come in and sign, which I did in late February. While I did get a response from them in Feb, its been absolute radio silence over the last couple of weeks as I have tried to address this directly without resorting to having to dispute the charges.Checking my email account I have standard mass emails from WCFL but none responding to my messages, nor did I ever get any texts. Perhaps they lost the paperwork they had me fill out but thats not really my problem and I did reach out to them multiple times. The facebook messages were sent because their recorded voicemail message requested folks to contact them via facebook.Bottom line is I came in in February, filled out their paperwork was told I still had to pay for March which I accepted and they never stopped charging me.If you all want to call me and discuss the issue and make it right I will seriously consider deleting the review. I understand mistakes happen and you all perhaps lost the paperwork you had me come in and sign.
The best gym in Washington. Great equipment and available 24/7. So if your at home in the middle of the night and need to burn some energy or work second shift and other gyms are closed, change your membership to WestCoastFitness and get right!
Within the last two months this once excellent gym has been overrun by numerous women’s “self-help groups,” as I like to call them. Trainers will bring anywhere from 3 to 6 clients at a time, hogging massive amounts of equipment and space. They consistently stand around jaw jackin’ and taking silly photos which hinders others ability to workout. These women will place their water bottles, keys, cell phones, and food containers on equipment they are not using and on the ground creating unnecessary tripping hazards. Everyone can agree that prime time at the gym is already tough because of the crowds, but adding these silly women’s empowerment groups into the mix make it near impossible to get a decent workout in. Tips to these female trainers: Take your therapy sessions to a coffee shop and focus your time in the gym on actually moving weight and not just your mouth.
We love WCFL! We are there everyday and leave our kids at the day care and they love it! It’s a very close knit but welcoming gym and we are so glad we made the switch from a chain gym to a local gym!
Best gym in town. Hands down! Friendly staff, tons off free wieghts, lots of machines, sauna, tanning, smoothies, everything you could want. Great atmosphere overall. Definitely recommend!
Decided to make WCFL my home gym after being relocated into the PNW. I thought it was perfect for my goals as a competitive bodybuilder & even cooler that it is currently owned by a veteran, like myself, and is open 24hours to accommodate my crazy schedule. After a year, I came to realize that the crazy maintenance fees that are associated with a membership do not go into upgrading any of the equipment. Thats ok, I can live with that.I learned that the current machines are mostly manufactured by star trec? which have been passed down from previous gym owners and are enginereed poorly which force you to have to modify your body positions to get decent muscle contractions. Thats ok, I can deal with that.During this time I also noticied that the WCFL staff was a revolving door of employees. Many of the employees I considered good people left, due to bad management. Thats ok, I can deal with that.Recently, it was brought to my attention by another WCFL member, that an employee stated that the current Manager, Nic, has a problem with me and my wife, and he is out to get people he does not like. This I could not understand? What did I do this fella? Ive faithfully paid my membership dues, even during the times when WCFL struggled to make ends meet, yet my wife and I are a problem? After confronting Nic about his unprofessionalism and terrible customer service, he protested and acted like he was the victim. This I will not accept. Nic, dont talk bad about members to your employees behind their back, remedy solutions when your members express concerns, upgrade your gym equipment, and open 24hours so people can workout without having to deal with your narcissistic attitude.
Good atmosphere and the owners are great people.
Good equipment, friendly staff and the culture is chill.
West Coast Fitness broke contract by raising monthly fee without signed consent and then forced me to follow terms of contract for canceling membership by threatening sending to collections. Billing manager became hostile telling me I was waisting her damn time. Wade the owner stood by with no comment even though he was the one sending the threats of sending to collections. Comically unprofessional. No enforcement of cleaning equipment after use.
Just joined this gym and I love it already! Such a friendly environment! Currently trying to get all my friends to come join me at west coast!
Great place! Has a sauna and tan beds, including childcare! I would highly recommend this place. The only down fall I suggest, is dont go at night, there are weird singers at night. No one really bothers you at all, everyone is there to workout and they are trainers to help you achieve your goals.
Well sorry I dont think ill come back
Love this gym!
Worst customer service I have ever experienced
Love this gym!! Friendliest gym Ive ever been too, has everything you need for a great workout. Would recommend to everyone! Always nice to see the girls with a smile at the front desk. Davina and Nicki are the best!
Friendly and encouraging staff. Owners truly listen to their clients and get any and all necessary work or changes done immediately. Two lifting rooms that offer different music and atmosphere. One large private workout room, etc. This place is legit.
West Coast is an amazing GYM! I started out not really knowing what to do in there, but then I met Heather and her classes have made me feel more confident in the gym. My kids also do their Child Care and love Lina and Kelly. I’ve always had problems with different gyms childcare, but not here! They know exactly how to distract the littles so I can get a full workout in! Thanks to west coast, I should be feeling more confident this summer!
This gym has every possible way to train imagineable. The members respect the gym and other gym mates. The staff is not only knowledgeable and helpful, but they all live the fitness lives themselves. They strive for the success of others fitness journeys as well as their own. (They also have excellent apparel)
Came in the door to sign up and was helped right from the GO! Came in the next morning for training and same Courtesies were there. This place is immaculate when it comes to clean, people are by far more polite in this gym then any other gym I’ve been into around the area. This is not an infomercial, Nor do I have any affiliation or ties with the owner. Hands-down until I leave the state of Washington I will be utilizing this gym every hour I can.
Ive always been nervous about trying equipment that Ive never used before, but lately Im finding myself more curious and I love that the staff is there and help me with any confusion on how to use the machines. They have been very friendly and welcoming since I joined and I enjoy seeing them in a daily basis. I also am big on group fitness and love the friends Ive made during the classes.
Staff are welcoming, equipment clean!
I love this place. Reasonable rates, gym is always very clean, and friendly staff. I like how they actually have a deadlift pad and squat racks, unlike some other gyms. Good balance of free weights and machines. West Coast is the ideal place for me to start my day off on the right track, thank you for the great gym!
West Cost Fitness is the best gym I have been to in Washington state. They have TONS of great cardio equipment, machines, free weights, and a cool mobility turf area with sleds. Being open 24 hours is also great, especially since most 24 hour gyms lack equipment and space. The staff are all friendly and helpful if you have questions.
Small, but everything you need. A lot of military. They have locker room with sauna, showers and lockers. A bit old and swearty smelling in the mens. But the atmosphere is chill.Need to downgrade from 3 to 1. Owner is refusing to acknowledge that we have canceled the membership in April. And has since restarted the membership charges. Stay away. Much more to say but no need if you heed my advice.
Awesome gym! Awesome atmosphere!
The staff is very nice. Clean environment with many weight lifting options. I would recommend this gym to a friend
Very nice place here so far loveing it
I mainly go for the fitness dance and I love the energy Heather brings. Overall a nice gym. I just wish they keep changing the front.
Hands down the best gym I have ever been apart of!!! Great prices!!! Great environment!!! Very friendly staff!!!
Great gym, clean, professional atmosphere, lots of equipment, and great support to military and first responders.
So happy this gym is back! I used to go to LUFC and this is even better! Amazing equipment, there’s always something available for use, and the people are great! Switched over from LA fitness.
Great gym. Lots of equipment (to include battle ropes, Jacobs ladder) you don’t find at even the larger gyms in the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The gym is kept very clean and everyone re-racks their own weights! As an added bonus, the kids room is amazing. My children love it. They have a space for younger kids with age appropriate toys. As well as a room for older kids with tablets and gaming systems.Definitely worth stopping by. Nicki gave me a tour and a 3-Day pass. I was hooked after day 1. Signed up with westcoast and cancelled my membership with LA Fitness on the same day.Other positives:it’s 100% veteran owned.Great price for individual and family memberships.A wide variety of workout classes are offered.Plenty of squat racksLocal celebrity Kobe Westcoast frequents the gym.
Great, locally owned and operated gym, has pretty much everything you would want in a facility like this, whatever you are looking for in you fitness life West Coast probably has it
Greatly run business. Offer anything you could want for fitness and a friendly place
I was happy with this place, but I recently moved and reluctantly had to cancel. I signed up February 10th and I was told I have to pay for the month of February or pay $100 cancellation fee. Its a year contract sir.... *looks at me like Im stupid*
Great place to work out plus great service and its open 24 hrs !!!😁😁😁
Awesome gym, Great staff, Smoothie bar, open 24 hours a day.
Staff is helpful and nice, great tanning beds and plenty of equipment. Overall great gym.
Best gym in the Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater area. If youre serious about changing your life for the better and seek results. This is the place.
I go here all the time. Lots of machines open 24hrs not expensive. Friendly people and they usually keep to themselves anyway.
Love the place. Great atmosphere...
All the equipment you could want with zero judgement
. Has alot of equipment for anyone to do there own workout. Very nice staff perfect for anyone who loves working out
This place is starting to fall apart. When it first opened as West Coast fitness the new owners freshened it up. But it has gone down hill quickly. The water fountain has been broke for weeks, leg press machine has been down for weeks, in the mens locker-room in the mornings the trash cans are over flowing and the paper towel dispensers are empty. They used to have staff early in the morning, but for about a month now there is no one. Still has plenty of equipment, and is a good space, but it needs maintenance badly and quickly. If things dont change in the next week or 2, going to cancel my membership.Update: 07 Aug 19The owner has told me they have fixed many of the issues they were encountering. I have not been back to see for myself, but have no reason to doubt them. IF the maintenance IS better they get 4 stars.
Great gym 24 hours id give 5 stars when they fix their piss poor 24 hour barcode machine on outside to get in hate coming to gym when its after hours and cant get in to work out. This is now fixed so far the barcode machine outside lets you in without much trouble
My favorite gym in the Olympia/Lacey I love the owner and staff, theyre very down to earth and are very professional in accommodating to all current and future members. Come by and see Nick, Niki or Davina to check out gym and get a 3 day pass..see yall soon!!
Used to work out here when it was LUFC, so happy its back, facilities look pristine as usual and the new layout looks much more efficient, cant wait to get back into my workouts here!
The staff is always so nice. I really enjoy this gym
Great gym and great owners! Has a bit of everything for a wide variety of people with differing fitness goals.
Its a gym. Get er done! I like that its locally and veteran owned.
Great gym, good variety of equipment, nice staff, good prices
Kickass friendly staff, gym very nice and clean, plenty of machines!
Been going here when it was known as LUFC and loved the hometown feel. I was sad when i heard LUFC was closing but then the owners Nic and Wade cane through and brought it back better than ever love the staff and the new look deff plan on being around for a while to watch this gym grow!!!
Best gym in Lacey and Oly. Veteran owned! Good people.
Not crowded. Ice atmosphere
Really nice gym and smoothie bar
Very friendly staff and signing up was less than 10 minutes. Look forward to working out here.
Best gym in lacey!
Great gym with pleasant people
Solid gym lots of variety and they have 100lb plates and the dumbells go big 👍👍👍
This place is sick!!! 🤘💪💯🔥
Wether you want to to loose weight, maintain yourself, or become a professional body builder or weight lifter this is the place.
Great gym highly recommend!
The staff is friendly, there are plenty of exercise machines to use, and they provide free ionized water for their members to drink.
My favorite gym
