When I was reading the reviews to this place before I decided to come here the only bad reviews I’ve seen were for the parking and I thought “that doesn’t seem too bad” But I was wrong. This place is not worth the stress and inconvenience of constantly looking for a parking spot. They do not have near enough parking spots for the complex. Every night or evening I come home there’s no spots available. So you’re only left with parking by a garage or a curb marked fire lane which you’ll see A lot of people end up doing. Then you go back to your car a couple hours later to see if any parking spots opened up and see your car is towed. The towing company they use charges $330 just for taking and storaging it. It doesn’t matter if they just took it and it hasn’t even been an hour yet. They’ll charge you $330 to get it out. It’s happened to me three times already.
Dakota Apartments are a great place to live. The units are really modern style, conveniently located near stores and schools if you have children. Management staff is great! Most importantly is the maintenance staff is incredible, Daniel in particular. They have a 24 hour turn around time and they get it done within that time frame. He does it with efficiency and great quality work. Daniel has been absolutely amazing since we moved here. On top of that he is really kind, explains things well. I am happy to be apart of the Dakota community.
Truly a beautiful place to live. Incredibly quiet, homey and close to everything! The management and staff at the Dakotas have always been incredibly friendly and personable any time Ive come in to chat or if I have a maintenance request. Jacklyn is a wonderful manager and Kanani is a great staff member! Very much recommend these apartments.
The customer service was amazing! They provided the answers to everything I needed to know and had everything ready for us to move in. Nice cozy apartment with great access to a pool and fitness center. The smoothest transition to a new apartment I’ve had and I truly appreciated how helpful our leasing agent was throughout the whole process.
I have lived here for over a year now and have been very happy. I also previously lived in their sister property in West Olympia and was happy there too. Apartments are really nice with almost no maintenance issues. Front office and maintenance staff are always friendly and quick to respond. Haven’t tried out the pool or work out room yet, but they look nice as well. Love the location and the fact it’s gated. Would highly recommend this place in the Lacey area!
Truly a great place to live. i feel comfortable walking outside, parking is good, and the women i’ve talked to in the office are amazing and really sweet!
I was referred to this complex by a friend, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality and exceptional customer service. Management is top-notch, professional, and friendly. Looking forward to making The Dakota my new home in the very near future!
Absolutely beautiful apartments and the office staff were so helpful with all of my questions, really nice, and not pushy. 10/10 would rent again
Win.h and Brian.b were so amazing in fixing our fridge problem we had. They came as soon as possible. They got it replaced within an hour of coming to check out what was going on with the fridge. We appreciate their work and being so fast to fix the problem.
I lived there for almost four years and generally liked the place. Maintenance calls were always performed the next day, noise complaints were taken care of, and the rent was decent for the area. The front office and maintenance staff were always friendly and competent. Parking was a hassle but you learn techniques to cope. I really liked the location and it gave me plenty of routes to run. Shopping was across the street and a park was a 5 minute walk. I would live there again if needed
I have been here for a year now and it has been a great place to live. The front office staff is always so helpful and understanding. They even put a coloring sheet of paper attached with candy on our door for my kids during one of their Valentine’s Day coloring contests. The only issue is parking and it floods a little bit sometimes. But they are so quick to complete work orders, the maintenance team is amazing! I’ve only met Mike and Win and every time they’ve come to fix something, they are polite, quick, efficient and don’t mind answering all of the curious questions my kids have for them. Overall a very quiet and safe community.
You don’t think about reviewing somewhere unless it’s really great or really awful and I’m happy to report that we have another 5 star kinda joint here. A place is just a place till someone makes it special & I really appreciate being treated fairly and considered with respect by people handing my business and that’s what I found here. If radio shout outs were a thing I’d call these folks in. Thank you Miss Mary!
Maintenance was timely, professional and took care of my issue right away. Nice work guys!
The Dakota Apartment is a great apartment complex in which we have been living at for a while now and have had a great living experience. Kanani at the Dakota office, is extremely helpful, attentive, and makes the applying process very easy. The location and complex is safe, quiet, affordable, animal friendly, and the apartments are beautiful and updated.Maintenance team is always available when and if needed and front office is always available to answer any questions or solve any issues. It is as well, in walking distance from many needed stores and parks which is always a perk.
Maintenance team has been wonderful and super respectful. Quick turnaround on maintenance requests and they call ahead to ensure your are available. After repairs are done they leave the area cleaned.
Currently staying here and we love it. We did have problems at first but not with management. It was our old neighbors who would always say things and try and get us in trouble when we have 3 kids and live on the third floor. We tried our best to not have the kids run around but the neighbors downstairs made us feel so uncomfortable. But for management to understand our side and never made us feel uncomfortable was one thing we appreciated. Also there maintenance was always quick. Michael came and fixed our washer and heater that wasn’t working. Management is very understandable and it’s good place to stay especially if you’re military. We love it here and would recommend here if you’re looking for a good place to stay at.
I had a few touch up repairs on my new apartment shortly after moving in, minor things. When I got home from vacation the maintenence team had all my concerns addressed and everything was prefect! Thank you so much.Heather
I called to inquire about a 1 bedroom. The staff was very informative and friendly. It was a bit out of my price range but the apartments looked nice.
Great location. Just moved here from Idaho. Move in was quick and easy and the apartment was so clean! My neighbors are so friendly. Very happy with the whole experience.
Great place to live, really like the new manager and Greg in the office. Would be great if the pool would open.
Im looking to relocate and I spoke to a very nice person on the phone who gave me a lot of great information. I plan to set up an appt to come see in person when I get into town.
Great experience for getting my first apartment on my own and Kanani made everything super easy and was very prompt and attentive to answer any questions.
Daniel was very polite and efficient when taking care of my service order. Even did a couple quick little things that werent listed.
Daniel did a wonderful job on fixing our bathroom lights! Super quick!
Parking is terrible .... It is now June & the pool is still not open and neither is the gym. Pandemic is now almost over with a full state reopening on June 30th. There is no excuse at this point. The rent is still increasing with zero amenities for the last year and a half. If you want to pay a lot of money with no parking and amenities, than sure. Time to move out.
I really love the environment its really quiet, and the area looks safe . we loved the staff kanena was really nice and informative, helped us answer a lot of our questions and was really honest. The apartment tour we had assigned for was so beautiful, the space was really big, for us was not to small our to sign, I really love the room and the bathroom . Overall, I think it was all just really lovely.
Office staff always there when you need them. Well maintained property. No longer living here nut I never encountered any problems while living here. Loved the trees and beautiful grounds.
The maintenance did a very good job on fixing my bathroom today. Im really happy they got it done right away. I have no complaints at all. Thank you 😊.
I wish I was able to live here. I was working with Brie in the office and she was so friendly and reassuring. I am going through a divorce and had so many questions and she went out of her way to try and give me more information to help me. I will be back once I get some other things taken care of thanks to her. THANK YOU BRIE!!!!
We were at the Dakota for my boyfriends work and they allowed them to use their pool for the polar plunge. Bre was so friendly and helpful and easy to remember since our names are similar:) and so was the other lady helping out they even had hot chocolate ready for the guys afterwards. Nice people!
The staff was friendly, organized and efficient! The complex was clean and well organized. Move in was smooth and I’m enjoying the area!
These apartments are nice. When we lived there we had a two bedrooms and it was very large. The maintenance man was Tony and he always fixed everything very fast and was very kind. We bought a house and moved but we liked living there and how nice the company was. The pool was nice. We would like to recommend these apartments to you.
My husband and I lived at Dakota apartments for 3 years. It is gated and I felt very safe there. The team there keeps the grounds very clean. Kanani in the office is great to work with and she has great follow through. I would say safety and Kanani are the definate highlights to the complex. Great place. I would recommend this complex to anyone looking for a place to live in Lacey.
I toured Dakota apartments and I have to say I was really impressed with the girls in the office They were very helpful and professional and knew the area very well. We aren’t looking to move until next year but coming from a different state we wanted to get a feel for the NW. We felt welcomed and we felt like they genuinely wanted to help vs just rushing us along due to how far out we are looking. The community itself is very well kept and beautiful. Parking looked a little tight but manageable. Overall good vibes from this community.
Recently got some information about this property. They are closed for tours but the office lady, Breanna was so nice and helpful. The 3D links weren’t working for us but she sent pictures of the community and walked us through everything so smoothly. We aren’t moving this month but when we’re closer to the date we will come back. I did ask about parking and she did say that they’ve got a new management team addressing it and it’s being fixed! And they don’t charge for parking unless it’s a garage so that seems pretty fair to me! Thank you guys for being the most helpful of all the places we talked to!
Daniel came to do maintenance today on my patio door. He was nice and respectful, and got the job done quickly.
Daniel was quick and professional. I submitted a service request and within an hour he completed the job.
I recently got toured by Amanda and she was able to accommodate all my needs and questions for a 2 bedroom. Amanda showed me around the apartment complex within being 6 feet apart and staff following proper PPE. I was very pleased with the tour and all information provided. Im quiet early in my hunt for my new home but The Dakota Apartments will definitely be in one of my lists! Thank you.
My review is only for my experience with the leasing office... shout out to Misty! She is literally the best!!. Super patient and knowledgeable. Answered my ridiculous questions when I moved in and even was so very patient with me as moved in and I had so much going on in my life.
I was visiting a friend last Friday and when I left my car battery was dead. I asked one of the maintenance guys if he could give me a jump. Sam was able to help me. I wish there was more nice people like that around.
Best place I’ve lived in Washington! Such a friendly and accommodating staff- highly recommend!
Wow is all I can say after reading a few negative reviews of this place because it has not been my experience at all.First off Misty is just AMAZING she has been the most consistent employee at The Dakota!!!The staff are all pretty darn awesome actually ! I recommend this place, in a heartbeat. Things happen,I get that and it appears in the case of the negative reviews I read, people had some isolated events that made them sour. Its easier to write reviews when youre angry than appreciative, so I felt The Dakota deserved it. Cheers!!!
Time with the Dakota was very nice. Great value and close to base for military folks.Parking is annoying but that’s fault to whoever built the community. Office staff is always pleasant and friendly. Only moved due to orders.
I really like living at the Dakota. Staff is friendly and very quick if something needs fixed. The only bad thing is the parking and its horrible. If you have two cars all I can say is good luck.
I now know I took this place for granted. I thought it was expensive and parking was bad but it is well worth it. Compared to where I live now, I won’t even say, this place was amazing. I can’t wait to get out of my current lease and try to get back her. The dakotas are beautiful, spacious and the staff is so nice. I’ll be back.
I keep finding random cars parked in my only assigned parking spot. Theres no parking here! We pay nearly $1700 a month!!! Do not move here, Ive called several times and left message. No one has gotten back to me.Update:Dumpster areas are constantly overflowing.Non-communicative managementTheres never any parking. They will tow their own residents. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Dont sign that lease. Theyre are much better and reasonable priced locations. Just not here. Cant wait to move out.
Had two maintenance orders. Repair man came by within 48 hrs of the work order not counting the holidays. Did a great job fixing my issues and was super quick!
I have not had a good experience living here. It is hard to get ahold of people and the parking is horrible.
Nice place to live. Good location!
The office staff have been really good when you need help with something. There is a lot of people that live here but it is so quiet just dont listen to the cars going by.
Better parking is an absolute must. You can’t expect everyone that rents to only have one vehicle. And the amount of extra spots is extremely low, making your “extra parking” total BS. Answer the phones or get better management. If someone has to call 10 times and leave an angry voicemail just to get in touch with the office about an issue, then something is wrong. On any given day, you can call and/or email the office (during business hours) multiple times and not hear ANYTHING back. If you’re lucky, they’ll call you back a few days later. Also, there is very little security for a “gated community”. Cars and packages were reported stolen on multiple occasions. Appliances are outdated. A lot of people let their dogs out without leashes and don’t take care of their dogs mess.
DO NOT MOVE HERE KEEP LOOKING!!!!!!Save yourself multiple headaches and stress and do not move here. We have only been here for 6 months. Both of our cars have been towed and not released until $345 has been paid.(600 plus out of our household) Every other month there is an issue with our rent check or payment when it is paid on time. They charge 125.00 each time at this point it has been twice. There is NOT ENOUGH PARKING. (if we would have known this information before hand we would not have moved here). Each unit gets one parking spot. However who lives by themselves? Two people usually means 2 cars. I guarantee there are two adults in almost every unit. Not to mention one tow and one rent fee has happened during a FREAKING PANDEMIC and one of us have lost our job. Do you think these people cared. NOPEThey have not said anything about how AMP would be able to offer any help just keep charging and charging and charging. I called the headquarters number and left a VM and have not heard back anything. Its been about 4 days. ALL of the apartment amenities have been closed. However we are all still paying our full rent.DO NOT MOVE HERE. I have lived in Olympia and Lacey for 5 years and believe me there are other places to rent and that dont cost as much. I am even a return customer and this is our second time renting from AMP did not have these issues at the other property we lived at. NEVER AGAIN. KEEP LOOKING
My boyfriend and I moved in almost a month ago to a fully renovated apartment with our doggo and everything has been amazing especially the maintenance staff! Of course since everything’s new and newly renovated there was some hiccups with appliances, but the maintenance team was quick to come in and fix it normally same day. If they see you out in the parking lot or walking the doggo they always are so polite and ask how the apartment is doing and if there is anything they could help with! Seriously some of the nicest guys! One month down 11 to go!
I want to the apartments looking for a new place. The community was very clean and the lady in the office, I think her name was Misty or something like that. She was very nice to me.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE IVE EVER LIVED!!!!!!! Their is no parking! No space for your guess to park! They constantly tow people that live there. Very hard to get in touch with them for any problem you may have. Always new people in the office, that do not know what’s going on! If I could I’d give this a negative 5 star rating. I would an will not recommend this place to anyone! Not even a desperate person! I am disgusted!!
Dakota Apartments is a great place to live: quiet, safe, great maintenance staff, good value for cost
Wow, what great apartments!
If you like paying premium prices, to not have any parking, and the only option is to park illegally or to park at a location far away from your home, and then have your car towed with no warning, this is the place to live. God forbid you and your spouse have 2 vehicles. There are better options. Trust me
Overall the dakota has been nice. my husband and I wanted to thank brianna for her kindness and understanding with us and the struggle it has been right now. we were scared to talk to anyone about it but she was a huge help and didnt make us feel bad. without the dakota we dont know where we would be. yes the parking is bad but you dont pay for parking here and at least the manager is kind......
I don’t live here but i was visiting my friend who just moved in and we came across one of the office staff members. ((i think her name was Bri?)) she said she was new to the community and introduced herself and asked my friend how her move in was. usually these encounters are phoney but she was so sweet. i haven’t met too many friendly apartment staff before so i was so surprised by her stopping to talk to us. im in a lease somewhere else now but i will definitely be coming by to see bri again once that ends!!!!
Just moved out. Our time here was nice
I want to personally change my review due to the new manager that they have at the Dakota apartments! He is amazing, and was able to help me successfully with me moving out of the apartment. They old managing staff that use to be there when I lived there made everything so much complicated for me. The new manager however took time to fight for me and help and I TRULY appreciate him! If you are looking to move here this is the best apartment that I have ever stayed in. The management is fantastic, the apartment itself is peaceful, beautiful, and valued at the correct price!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great place to live! Management is wonderful. The new manager Anya is extremely pleasant and very helpful. Highly recommend this place.
It’s true that if you have more than one vehicle you’ll often have to park one of them across the street at Safeway. However, it’s a great location, the office staff is super friendly, and maintenance is always outside working hard to make the property look great, especially Eric.
This is a great place to live! This is by far the nicest apartment complex that I have ever lived in the last 18 years of renting. When I move in to a new place, I clean everything with white cloths so I know that I am living in my own grim. The housekeeping staff is Sam, she is seriously the bomb! I only found one spot she missed and I bet you would have missed it, too. Krystle and Therese run the office with finesse. They have been thorough in explaining my contract and are very generous in taking the time to answer my questions. Tony and Anthony are in charge of maintenance and are timely, respectful and get the job done right. If you are paying a lot of money on your way out, its because you did not return the apartment back in the pristine order in which it was given to you. This staff rocks and are willing to make your stay and exit wonderful! Kudos to them!!! P.S. The yard crew keep the grounds looking amazing!
For all the money Dakota apartments make, they have CHEAP THIN WALLS. You will hear clearly your neighbours talking, walking, doing laundry .. you won’t have restful nights!
Worst apartment ever. Parking in this place is ridiculous. Everyday after 6pm, there is barely no parking left, you either need to park illegally, which the clueless & non-caring property manager will call towing every time, or need to park outside of the apartment complex and walk! No parking for residents??!! Don’t waste your time and energy.
To all potential residents, especially military, do not move here. The apartments are nice, but the management is terrible. Their main objective is to collect as much money from you as possible. You are pretty much guaranteed to receive a bill upon moving out, even without an early lease termination. I moved out of these apartments almost one year ago. They sent me a bill for exactly $705.17 after I moved out, which I paid in full. At that point, I thought I was rid of them and didn’t hear anything else from them up until recently. Last week, I started getting harassed by bill collectors saying they were hired by Dakota apartments to collect an outstanding debt from me. The supposed debt is the $705.17 I ALREADY paid them in January of this year. I called Dakota apartments and the woman I spoke with was able to find record of my online payment for this amount. She apologized and said they would take care of getting it out of collections. Today I received additional calls from bill collectors, requesting that I submit proof of payment, which I did. I’m currently adrill sergeant on Fort Leonard Wood. I work a busy schedule, and I don’t have time to be dealing with this nonsense. I highly recommend avoiding this place. I’m considering calling jblm housing and telling them not to recommend Dakota apartments to anyone. If I could give them zero stars, I would. This place 100 percent needs to be blacklisted by JBLM. If you’re a service member, stay far away from here. They will charge you money to move out no matter how clean the place is, and it will make your PCS just that much more difficult. They also told me they wouldn’t pro-rate my rent if I moved out before the end of the month. So if you move out half way through the month, you’ll still pay a full months rent. And I’m sure instead of paying you that money back, they’ll invent a reason to keep your money.
Lived at the Dakota Apartments for three years with my Husband and little ones. Loved the floor plan and high ceilings. Big bathtubs and large walk-in closets were major plus. Loved the location,so easy to go to the park, library and so many convenient stores. The best part was the staff, my husband was deployed while we lived there and the friendly faces and great service helped us feel surrounded and supported at home. April, Jamie, Briana and Tony were amazing and so kind.
DO NOT MOVE. DO NOT MOVE. VERY HIGH MOVING OUT CHARGES. STAY AWAY..I was a resident of Dakota Apartments, Lacey WA.When I processed the application with this apartment community, I was asked to pay additional deposit because as per the Dakota Apartments management, my credit History was not good and my name is under fraud list.BEING CONFIDENT about maintaining great credit history, I pulled over my credit history from different 3 credit bureaus. And all of them returned to be having great score. Then I consulted a lawyer as how this can happen, being having so great credit history and Dakota folks pointing me to be under fraud list. I wanted to get this corrected and prove myself to be right.Lawyer suggested me to get a copy of the report leasing office referring too, so that we can file a dispute and get this corrected. When I explained this whole story of visiting and suggestion by Lawyer, Dakota apartment people changed their face and said… ohhh there was some mistake from our side and our system acted little weird, however you can rent the apartment with only required deposit of $400 and without any extra deposit.Still I insisted to get a copy of the report showing me fraud, but they never gave the report to me.That time itself I had a sense that these folks will definitely charge a lot while moving out, they seemed to be so bloodsuckers and I did a mistake moving in there and guess what they charged ~$1000 for moving out. I just lived there for 6 months and got the professional cleaning done before turning over the keys to them. They are the big cheaters!! DO NOT DO NOT GO THERE!!
These apartments are not worth the rent they charge. The trash area has 3 dumpsters 1 of those for cardboard and there is trash constantly over flowing, all over the ground and left that way. Parking is horrific. If you need a second spot and decide to rent a garage for 100.00 a month you may find yourself unable to pull into your garage or pull out because people park anywhere they like. The managers claim they will take care of this problem ( they never do). Once you sign a lease youre screwed. Loud neighbors doing laundry at 2 AM, stomping on the floors, dogs barking that are left home all day is all part of the ambiance of the Dakota apartments. The rent will go up every time a new lease is needed. I was foolish enough to live there for almost 3 years. When you do a walk through take photos of any damage no matter how minute. DO NOT INITIAL portions on the lease where it mentions painting and carpet cleaning upon moving out. State law is after 2 years you cannot be charged for normal wear and tear . Not so if you initial that in your lease. It would have cost me 700.00 to get back the 400 and some odd dollars for painting. My advice is RENTER beware. My mortgage for a 3 bedroom 3 bath 2,200 square ft. home is less expensive that renting a 2 bedroom at the Dakotas. Id give them no stars if it were possible.
Love the location
Worse experience. No parking space available, ask guest not to come due to parking issue. They charged 1500$ for cleaning and painting. Our apartment was very clean because my husband is in Army and he was living alone and occasionally cooked. He mostly go to sleep there. They just want your all deposit be careful. Do not go there
Very Nice apartment Complex, Driver friendly, Easy to find addresses, Quality grounds and design. And a Safe feeling environment
I currently live in the apartment complex, and I like and dislike it. I like it because it is nice and convenient. What I do not like about the complex is the amount of money for rent is not feasible. In addition in order to move out you have to pay additional fees. I moved in during a special and if I left before my lease I would have to pay back the special fees which in my opinion is pointless. If the complex is marketing specials why must I be held responsible for wanting to leave and have to pay the extra expenses.
UPDATE: An extra star for Josie in the office! She was real, did not seem two faced. Josie was very understanding, honest and friendly to me when I stopped by with a concern. Im very glad I ran into her this afternoon! She solved my concern without hesitation.IF YOU PLAN TO VISIT A FRIEND OVERNIGHT, DONT PARK HERE!!!!! Youll end up getting towed or walking across the street. $315 down the drain if youre towed. Like me today. Yay!
UPDATED REVIEW!NOT ONLY WAS THE PARKING TERRIBLE, BUT WE RECEIVED A BILL AFTER WE MOVED OUT FOR $ 59. i WENT THROUGH THE MOVE OUT SHEET THAT WAS GIVEN TO US WITH A LIST OF WHAT TO CLEAN AND HOW TO CLEAN IT ALONG WITH CLEANING PRODUCTS TO USE (WHICH WE BOUGHT) WE SPENT HALF OF OUR SUNDAY CLEANING THE APARTMENT, WHICH WAS NOT FILTHY TO BEGIN WITH AND THEY CHARGED US 4 HOURS OF CLEANING $ 140, 4 HOURS OF PAINTING $ 260.00 CHARGED FOR LIGHT BULBS, CARPENT CLEANING AND BLIND CLEANING. i ASKED IF WE COULD PURCHASE THE BULBS AND DO WHATEVER CLEANING SHE THOUGHT WAS NOT DONE AND BRING THEM TO THE APARTMENT SINCE WE TECHNICALLY STILL HAD A DAY LEFT IN OUR LEASE AND WAS TOLD NO. THREE OF THEM WALKED THROUGH THE APARTMENT TAKING PICTURES AND NOTES, THEY MADE ME FEEL AS IF WE LEFT THE APARTMENT IN CRAPPY SHAPE, WHICH WE DID NOT!! THE ONLY THING WE DID NOT DO IS MOP THE FLOORS BUT IN THE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS LETTER IT SAID NOTHING ABOUT MOPPING THE FLOORS, JUST VACCUUM (WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD) BUT I BROUGHT THAT UP TO ELLA AND SHE HAD NOTHING TO SAY, SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT PAPER I WAS TALKING ABOUT. AND THE FACT THAT NOW WE GET A BILL FOR $59 IS RIDICULOUS!!!The parking is terrible, if you want a parking spot in the complex on the weekend you need to find a spot on Friday when everyone is gone and not move it. Girl in the office named Ella not knowledgeable about the property or the procedure for changing apartments, I was told I would have to pay a transfer fee of $200 on top of all the other deposits in order to change to another apartment when our lease was up, and after our lease was up, I then spoke to another girl in the office (didnt get her name) and she explained that I was given wrong information, but at this point we have already decided to move. Ella is also not the friendliest person, I went in to let them know that the apartment across from us has had the front door open since last night and it was still open and she didnt seem to concerned. Not sure what happened to the old office staff but they were more friendlier than Ella. If you have more than one car this is not where you want to live.NEW: I had another encounter with Ella in the office yesterday, and she was helpful with my questions and explained the move out process to me.
... Just reviewing other peoples reviews, I am glad I did not move into The Dakota when it looked like such a nice & lovely place to live. Turns out, I better start reading these online reviews first because word-of-mouth (online reviews by real people) means a lot to me, and The Dakota, in my humble opinion, shouldnt be charging people for normal wear in costly move-out fees. I can understand $1000 deposit because they are very nice and inside the apartments as well.I am so glad I moved into the Polo Club Apartments instead, located across from the blueberry farm. I love it! Everything about the Polo is super great, staff, maintenance team, natural security due to remoteness. I think Im going to write a 5-Star review for my apartment homes. The best part is that my deposit was $100 and no cents. My management team is awesome, especially when comparing my experience to former Dakota tenants experiences posted here. I feel so sorry for you all.I do think some of the reviews are just slightly skewed though in the sense most every review identifies cost as their most major issue, however, the Dakotas are superbly designed and very well kept, which should account for some high-end costs. And so it seems as though, the art of the deal is kind of flawed in my opinion, in that, the rent rate should consist of normal wear & general damage, and should help to omit the moveout cost. Simply put, Americans expect to receive a refund of all or most of their refundable deposit, given the person did not damage the place beyond normal wear, but not to have to pay more money on moveout. I could be off base .. Nonetheless, thank God for Google Reviews & Google! And I am currently apartment shopping again though because I need to get out of the woods. The Polo Club is in a remote location if youre originally from a larger city like Atlanta where I grew up or Miami where I have lived in recent years.
This cozy little community is wedged between a noisy auto body shop and a busy intersection that always seems to be featuring construction activity of some kind.In the year and a half Ive lived here, Ive seen standards in this community slip dramatically. From battling over non-existent parking (while dodging all the cars that are parked illegally in fire lanes) to the gates permanently locked shut, to the mail which frequently fails to reach your doorstep with no notice given (hope youre not receiving any unexpected packages in the office, because management will literally never inform you). There is a 24 hour quiet policy that in theory means you can be served with a 72 hour eviction notice if someone in your building believes you to be the source of the noise, but in practice actually means the neighbors are banging around on cheap, thin walls where sound carries. For the office side of compliance with the quiet hours you can look forward to the soothing sounds of gas powered landscaping equipment right outside your bedroom window on weekend mornings. Now for the amenities: Theres a pool, but its only open about 2 weeks a year and they seem content to let it remain as a water feature. The gym is pathetic. Parking is abysmal. Trash is strewn all over the community and never gets picked up on time. Dog feces blankets every patch of grass. Internet seems to cut out every time it snows or gets windy. Did I mention how bad the parking is? Dont worry, theyll gladly let you pay even more to lease a garage spot.If the office staff spent ½ the time improving the community as they do serving eviction notices for being 12 hours late with rentr payment and attempting to collect $15 debts, this might be an halfway decent place to live. In fact, serving collection notices is the only thing that gets done in a timely manner here. I still have unfulfilled maintenance requests from last summer.Instead, theyll just jack up your rent even higher when all your neighbors move and theyre left with a ton of vacant units. I made the mistake of not being prepared to move when my lease was up and against my better judgement, I renewed. I will not be repeating that mistake.
I have to reaffirm my total disgust and dissatisfaction with the available parking at this complex. Its Saturday afternoon, there are NO available extra spaces, the fire lanes are full and people are double parking ALREADY! I was, once again, forced to park at Safeway across the street. Yet other tenants get to enjoy having two of their three cars (2 of which havent moved in nearly two weeks) parked in free spaces..this is beyond frustrating!
Has the Dakotas been black listed by housing on JBLM yet? They take advantage of service members. BEWARE of fine print they charge you for normal wear down. The carpets are cheap and are replaced every time someone moves in yet they still want to charge you to replace it. got orders to Korea and had to break my lease. They tried charging me for breaking my lease and it went into collections. Luckily I received help for that. Don’t rent from here, parking is horrible, quite times are not enforced or honored and staff is uppity and snobby and act like it’s a chore to help you even though most of us pay close if not more than 1500 dollars a month.
Too bad they are KICKING me and children out unfairly, because I actually had a pleasant stay at the Dakota Apartments. Besides the horrible parking and the over flowing trash dumpsters, I didnt have many complaints. Also, their fees are extremely high if you are late on the rent, but I guess thats fair considering youre late. The apartments are lovely and spacious, and the staff are usually friendly to me. I wish they would do better upkeep on the pool area though. The hot tub is pretty much for show. Its always broken. My real issue with this place is that they are kicking me out of my apartment. I am a single mother of 2 daughters, I have lupus, and recently was involved in a car accident which caused some financial struggles. We just moved into these apartments in November of last year 2017. I was kind of rushed into it, and I felt this was a great choice considering the time frame I had to get a new place. The rent was a bit high, but its high everywhere so I couldnt let that stop me. Due to these unforseen circumstances, I began being late on my rent payments. Each time I was late I was charged $75 after 6th day $131 after the 3 day notice. (For lawyer fees), and $15 per day after that until the rent is paid in full (no partial payments or arrangements can be made). No matter how informative I was with the office, these were the charges. You can imagine how much harder it was to get caught up. Anyway, I managed to pay the rent and late fees each time with no complaints, and thought all was cool. It is now October and my lease is to be renewed. I unfortunately received a letter on my door informing me that they will not be renewing my lease. So they have put me in a bind. I have not been able to save up to move. I still owe them money for rent up until the 14th, as they say I have to honor my lease until then. And after reading the reviews it appears they are going to attempt to screw me in moving fees and try to keep my deposit. They already made me double the deposit, and Ill need that back to move. I understand that I was late quite a bit, but it was always paid in full, plus all those horrendous fees. I had no noise complaints, no issues with neighbors, no nothing. My daughters and I lived here peacefully. I am devastated that they would throw us out onto the street like this. I had no plans of moving, and thought this was a decent and safe place to reside. I know my late payments are not ideal, but I attempted to keep them informed each time I was in trouble and paid every thing in full always. Its not very community oriented to treat people in such a way. I was never rude or or disruptive here. But for them to just put me out only because I was late is quite hurtful. Where will my daughters and I go on such short notice? How will I suddenly come up with first and last months rent for a new place, especially when it sounds like the property likes to have hidden and bogus fees to retain your deposit money. This is a sad state of affairs to be treated this way. So, I cant rate this location high on stars, as they have shown me they only operate on its just business ideology rather than community based ideology.
Im a current resident at the Dakota Apartments... I have no complaints about the living conditions; however, Ive recently begun using the gym in the mornings and for the past week, there have been no disinfectant wipes available to clean the machines after use. (Ive been putting hand sanitizer- that I took from the bathroom- on paper towels.) I called today to complain and was informed that the wipes were on back order. (Really?!) Im about 99% positive if you walk to the Safeway across the street you could pick up a pack of wipes. I understand that management companies place orders through distribution companies for better pricing, etc. but a little extra effort goes an extremely long way- especially since luxury comes standard is indicated on the propertys website.
No parking at night.....the guest bathroom toilet always gets Clag up....doesnt matter what the toilet doesnt fully flush. Maintance is there today.not worth how much Im paying ...needles to say now my upstairs neighbor needs to whats the word stop stomping..walk..1300 to hear my upstairs neighbor..
Parking is atrocious, with people parking in your covered spot and staff doing nothing about it. My oven has been broken for 3 months and they keep coming out and fixing it and its never qctually fixed. All this on top of extremely high rent make this place easilly the biggest mistake ive made in apartments
The apartments them self are nice, but when it comes to about 5pm you will never find parking and the management does nothing to help the issue. the staff are nice and friendly but helpless. and worse of all i spent two days cleaning the apartment the walls the floor and everything else. doesnt matter how clean you get the place they said you have to pay a min of 1.5 hours of cleaning fee 2 hours of painting fee so if you do end up living here. make sure you have about 400 dollars to move out. i would not recommend living here. there is a nicer place with more parking up the street near the reck center.
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!! I wish I would have read the reviews before we moved in. The apts are nice, parking sucks, but when its time to move out the try to take the little you have. I am getting a lawyer because I will not be schemed for my hard working money and I pd my rent on time every single month!!! Not worth the headache find some where else and make sure you read the reviews!!!! Rouson
Fix your parking situation and we wont have to park in fire lanes anymore. we pay 1500 dollars a month and cant even park at our “home”.This place is trash and i am dreading the move out fees once my lease is up. also try answering your phones once in a while.
This was my husband and Is very first place together and Im not sure why the reviews are so deadly awful. Prior to moving in we saw terrible reviews, but we loved the location and close quarters to LUFC, the park, market and post. So we gave it a shot! Needless to say it is actually a very nice place to live. We were on the 3rd floor, had high ceilings, and very quiet neighbors, not to mention a nice soaking tub and walk in closet. It was small for 969$ a month but in WA prices are high regardless so we dont mind. The staff is very friendly Jamie and April were always there when I needed to bug them! My only concern would be the parking and dumpsters, it was getting a bit out of hand right before we moved out. Tenants like to stack trash as high as they can OR even leave junk on the side of the trash can, the parking spots are a good size but after 4 pm its hard to find a guest spot. On move out, it was the greatest process ever! I was able to take a week to make the place spotless ( we are clean freaks in general) and were very happy when they told us they appreciate our effort in cleaning the place for the next tenants. We recieved almost our whole deposit back, despite a broken blind replacement:) Not sure why people are saying they steal and rip you off of your deposit, you probably werent taking care of the place or didnt clean it very well. We would love to come back to these if we are stationed at JBLM again. Thank you! Lauren I
WORST PLACE WE HAVE EVER LIVED!!Save yourself and your wallet from moving into these apartments!!!! Sure they look nice but they are HORRIBLY MANNAGED!!!!We have been renting for years and have had all great experiences. From DAY ONE, we have had problems. First the apartment wasnt ready on our move in day and but we had no where else to go so they replaced the carpet (did a terrible job, chunks missing seams showing) and just did touch up spot paint on the walls. There was burn marks in counters and we noticed later that night that some of the burners on the stove werent working while the others were on.We never got a move in inspection and we did our own but, we werent sure what all we had to write down. We asked for a move in inspection but we were REFUSED one due to pure laziness!!! We were assured everything was fine that we wrote down everything. We have two dogs and they are older and dont ruin anything not to mention they have lots of toys and treats to keep them busy when we are not home. Most of the time I was home with them because at the time I was pregnant and on bed rest and the dogs would always lay close by me.On our move out inspection there was a new manager she was not friendly, she did not even say helloand they did a very quick walk through and left.We later found out they were trying to make us pay for PAST damages some were documented and some were not such as an ice cube rack that was slightly bent. We cant do anything about it because THEY DID NOT DO THE WALK THROUGH WHEN WE MOVED IN!! It was like thats when we moved in and they wanted a ridiculous amount for it.They wanted a grand to replace the horribly placed, rushed job carpet in the whole apartment because THEIR carpet guys said there was pet dander after we had the carpets cleaned before we moved out not to mention the dogs were only allowed in the living room and were gated out of the bedrooms. On top of all the things we have to pay for from the previous rentors when we tried to get things fixed no one ever came and when they did they did a terrible job one time they came to fix the outlets that were not working the guy somehow managed A FIRE BALL!!! A freaking fire ball!!! Out of the outlets in the kitchen. I have never seen that before. Not to mention they guy was talking to himself more than his parter saying how everything was fine and we didnt know how to work a stove....... The only good experience we had getting anything fixed was from one of the guys who was really quiet and he stopped the garbage disposal from over flowing.I asked for lightbulb stop be replaced and no one came and we had to pay $10 a light bulb. They even made us pay for paint and cleaning when NONE of it was done and was supposed to be documented by the previous manager. She even showed us that she wrote it down and IT WAS MYSTERIOUSLY GONE MOVE OUT DAY!!BOTTOM LINE DO NOT MOVE HERE THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!! They act all nice when you move in and promise to be the best they say they are the best and that there are never any problems. When we moved in there were SUGAR ANTS!!! They promised to fix the problem two months later NOTHING WAS DONE! We CALLED AND CALLED finally they came out with ant traps from the grocery store that we had already had placed!! They told us MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ISSUE!!! Soon asking our neighbors they all said they were calling and NOTHING was being done. The manager said they were going to have the place sprayed and MONTHS went by and NOTHING was done. Literally everyone in our building minus an older couple had moved out and they probably just figured they wouldnt have to do it anymore because everyone moved out!!!!LIKE I SAID BEFORE SAVE YOURSELF SAVE YOUR WALLET!!! THE PLACE IS POORLY MANNAGED AND MAINTAINED THEY LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! IF I COULD GIVE THEM NO STARS I WOULD.
Seams to be a nice little place
Do not go here! The apartments look nice but the management is terrible. There was no cooperation at all with this place. We had to pay $130 so they could process paperwork. $50 of that was because we cancelled a check; otherwise, they would have cashed the check for $380 and would not have returned any of it. This was all before we even moved in. Emails were not returned, phones were never answered, and messages left were never returned.I have went to onpost housing at Ft. Lewis and have requested that they be black listed from military personnel. They are out to get your money and that is all. Worst customer service I have had to deal with ever!
Great place to live but quiet expensive
Never move in this place. they would take every single dollar from you when move out. they will charge you for normal wear and for damage you did not do. also, do not take any word from them because they lie and never keep up their words. please do you yourself a favor and find somewhere else.
This is the worst place ever to live in WA!! Dont come here!!! They charged you a lot of money on move out. Non Sense people, I will never recomend this place to anyone ever. Stay away from this place, Im telling you this im not joking about it. They charge for stupid and simple things.Make sure in your move in inspection if you ever make the stupid desicion to live here, inspect, inspect and inspect carefully. They Charge me 675 dollars in move out for stupid things. Paint 4 walls $365, clean Blinds 75 clean carpet 70 fix a sracth ( it was there before signing the leasing) 85 plus 200 for cleaning fee* we spent 5 hours cleaning the aparment for nothing. The bottom line STAY AWAY from here!! Do not come in this place. Theres people outside protesting and complaining!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!
I like living here. I like going swimming, the people are friendly, I like the jacuzzi.
The worst place ever I have lived in
High price and unreasonable
