We booked the 4 hr Javacat tour but realized a few hour later our flight had changed for that day. I called and they quickly changed are reservation to something we could do in the time we had and their availability. We snorkeled and swam at a sand bar. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable day. Had we done this on our first day we would of booked it almost every day.Our Captain, Andres was very professional and fun. We will be back!
Andres took us out on the Dart excursion and we had a super great time! He had plenty of ice for our drinks and provided plenty of water for the trip. We visited the mangroves and went snorkeling in the most beautiful area! Saw beautiful fish and an eel! Visited a pristine sandbar and spent the rest of our time enjoying the crystal blue waters! Will book this with Eco Tours every trip back to Key West now! Loved it!!! Thanks Andres!!!!
Wonder mangrove kayak tour with Kristen, she was knowledgeable, patient, fun, and most importantly friendly. Thank you for such a memorable & beautiful experience. A+
FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY! EVEN WITH FRED ON OUR BACKS. THANKS GEORGE WE HAD AN AWESOME TIME 8/13 9AM TOUR WE LOVED THE ECO KNOWLEDGE AND THE MANGROVES.... SHAWN AND CHRISTINE.
Wonderful and low-key kayak tour of the mangroves and local wildlife. George was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend!
Excellent service! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great tour through the mangroves. We saw so many critters, star fish, sharks, jellies, birds, crabs, sponges, even horse shoe crabs! Highly recommend
My husband and I did a kayak tour here last week. I’d highly recommend going! Gabby was our tour guide and is super knowledgeable about the ecosystem in the area. The location is about 10-12 miles from Key West but we’ll worth the drive. The area is somewhat protected from the winds which can make the water murky and difficult to see the wildlife. And, I’d also recommend visiting the casual restaurant right next door - Geiger Key Fish Club. The food was delicious!
Very cool group to work with. Kayak, paddle board, bait adventure. Very helpful and informative. Great way to see the Keys up close and from a different perspective. I highly recommend this group. I have been on several of their different adventures and always a great time. There are two different locations and they offer free shuttle on key west to get you to Geiger Key location. Always a great time with Key West Eco Tours.
A great time and beautiful place. Tortuga Jack was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the mangroves. We would love to go again!
My wife and kids really enjoyed the paddle around and through the mangroves. We were fortunate enough to have “Tortuga” Jack as our tour guide as it was like having your own personal marine biologist as your escort. He did a great job of explaining the role of the mangroves, sponges, etc. within the Key West ecosystem. George (owner) was also super nice and easy to deal with. He was there to greet us upon our return and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. Highly recommend!
Great tour, with great tour guide Jamie! Highly recommend this trip.
We went kayaking with Tortuga Jack and he was so full of information about science and history . The mangroves and sea life were absolutely beautiful. We took the tour at 9 AM it was quiet peaceful and not too hot. We will definitely be frequent fliers at this place the people are professional and very kind. I would suggest it to anyone. Not one negative thing to say. We had a beautiful day
Amazing wild life to look at, the guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a highlight of our trip.
Worst kayak tour I’ve ever been on. I will never go to this place again. There was so much talking and very little kayaking. There was so much “fill in” time with talking. This was a two hour trip that was probably an hour of talking. Our group was very bored and disappointed with this trip. I would not recommend this particular location to anyone.
We did a 9am kayak tour of the mangroves. It was excellent. Our tour guide Geof was very knowledgeable and fun. We will be back for sure.
We are on our first vacation in key west and went kayaking with Geiger key paddle tours. It was so peaceful and relaxing and off the beaten path. We truly enjoyed ourselves and every time we are here we will make it a point to head to Geiger key and relax for a day! Paddle boarding next time!!!! :)
Beautiful landscape! George was a great help! They take safety serious here. Overall good vibes, will come again.
This was such a great trip, although it started to rain we laughed and moved on. The guide was outstanding and very knowledgeable. Easy to talk with and happy to be there.I would say go here before you go home or you will be missing out on the best spot in the keys.
Great place for a guided tour and education on the local ecosystems.
We booked this kayak tour for our trip to Key west. We were so excited to go, but the day before my shoulder was injured on a fishing trip. So disappointed we were not able to enjoy this. The scenery looked beautiful and we had heard nothing but good things about them. Carla, the owner, was nothing but professional in understanding our reason for cancelation and taking the worry out of it for us. I will recommend them to everyone as its not the norm anymore to come across businesses that are as understanding of unforseen accidents. Thank you Carla!!
My husband and I booked this kayak trip at the last minute and we are so glad we did! Tortugas Jack was our guide and he was fantastic! I cant say enough good things about him. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny and friendly! Not only did we learn about the mangroves but we saw quite a bit of marine life to include: nurse shark, stingray, horseshoe crabs, countless jellyfish, crabs, snails, and different fish. Thank you for such a great time!!
Best kayak tour ever!
Friendly tour guide took us kayaking through an awesome mangrove forest. The shallow waters allow you to see all the life right beneath your kayak. The nice thing about this tour is that you set off right from this spot and kayak for a full 2 hours. Many other kayak tours you can find in Key West spend probably 2 hours just taking you to and from somewhere on a boat, and only getting about an hour at your actual destination to kayak or snorkel.
Neat spot for a drink. The kayak trip was fun but don’t expect to see anything other than jellyfish. The tour guide was super nice but ZERO wildlife on Tour
Great place to rent paddleboards or kayaks, as part of a tour or on your own. Be aware there is some current, and in the open water areas wind can be difficult to paddle against depending on how strong it is, so be prepared for a decent workout (but thats everywhere around the keys). There are enough mangroves around that you can get much respite from the wind and current for easy paddling and drifting. There are a couple of areas deep enough to go for a swim, ask how to get there before you leave. Quiet waterways away from boat traffic and jet skis. If you want to see underwater creatures, get a paddleboard - you are higher above the water and can see down into the water better than at kayak height. The natural scenery for kayaking is beautiful, but the suns glare on the surface of the water prevents being able to see much of the underwater life. I went again this weekend and saw a sea turtle, nurse shark, bonnet head shark, one large ray (~3-4ft across from fin tip to fin tip), small ray, horshoe crabs, lots of fish, and jellyfish (not the dangerous kind).
We spent a little over two hours out in the mangrove back country, and learned so much about the wildlife and plants there. Our guide, Elio, was friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to answer all of our questions, and providing a wealth of information. A true professional! The companys van will pick you up and drop you off pretty much anywhere on Key West, so there is no need to even worry about driving.Truly a great way to get in touch with the natural world that surrounds Key West!
We loved our tour guide, Liz, and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and peacefulness of the water on our tour! We saw a lot of fish and jellyfish, a few rays, couldn’t quite see the nurse shark we passed (but that’s on us) and even got to swim for a bit. Liz went the extra mile and we learned a ton about the mangroves and aquatic life. We’d go again in a heartbeat!
A great eco your to learn about the what lives in the Mangrove swamps. I love this tour and have taken it several times.
We did the tour with our two teenage daughters, and absolutely loved this experience. Our tour guide was brilliant and talked the entire time about everything she pulled out of the water. The jellyfish were spectacular, we chased and cornered a sea turtle, and she was constantly pulling out different shellfish and passing them around for everyone to see, or bottled them if not touchable. It was a lovely, quiet two-hour adventure of the natural Florida Keys environment. (we also did a jet ski tour the following day - this is the antithesis of that experience)
This used to be one of the best places to kayak outside of Key West. It is close to Key West yet when you ventured out on the kayak all you could see was mangroves and pure open water views. It was natural, quiet and private. Now, like so many other places in the Keys, there are permanently anchored boats everywhere. It is hard to believe the county permits individuals to just take up residence in our beautiful natural bays. It is getting out of control. The people who run this place are nice but the experience just isnt what it used to be. Instead of a back to nature experience, it is a back to crowded harbor experience.
Great people great experience and be sure to hit the bar and grill afterwards
Be prepared that you may see nothing except mangrove and small fish and jelly fish. We, a family of five, went there on Jan.1, 2016. Before we were on board, we asked the guide if we could see manatees, turtles etc, the guide said nothing, but the person who were in charge the payment immediately said that the manatees was appeared a couple days ago, and two groups saw it . Unfortunately we just paddled around mangrove in shallow water for 2 hours . The tour guide was polite and tried her best.
Jeff was a great guide. Very chill experience.
Great service, good food, nice paddle area
Help me to fix my go pro. Very nice.
Awesome Kayak tour through the mangroves!
Peaceful back country
