This is a great way to experience the overall area of a city in which you are visiting as we have been on several of their tours with finishing up all the U.S. States. We usually do a single day pass however with Key West we did a two day pass. The information of all the guides was nice but often scripted feeling. The two issues some forgot the script and gave conflicting information. Like at the basilica used as hospital to help 500 people on one tour 700 on the next tour and 600 on another tour. The number of bridges and islands in the keys also changed. The worst was their use of a schedule. Stops are posted for every 30 minutes. We started both our days at stop #11. Day 1 we waited 50 mins day 2 we waited 1 hour and 15 mins( the entire loop is only 1 1/2 hours) never seen the trolley and walked to stop #13 at Angela st and beat the trolley there. I encourage to use the trolley but only if you dont care about getting somewhere at a needed time because their schedules are not followed. I asked the driver of specific time pick up time was in order to get to Mallory square before sunset. The trolley didnt show and we walked the 1.2 miles.
This was a great way to learn of the history and culture of key west. Try to get the guide named Robert. Living in the keys for over 5 decades he is extremely knowledgeable and really helps paint the picture of key west. Like did you know, key west is actually still succeeded from the US. The conch Republic is a tally what key west is, its own republic since the 1980s. The tour does ask you to wear mask because of the transportation cabinet and cdc, but its not that bad seeing how you get a good breeze when moving. We learned so much on this tour. Thanks Robert.Theres entry of places you see that have so much significance on U.S. history. Hemingway home, Tennessee Williams home, the Truman little white house, the southernmost southernmost house, no thats not a typo...lol youll have to take the tour to find out.
We went on the last tour of the day and ended up being the only ones on the bus after a few stops. Louie was amazing, funny, and full of so much information! I would definitely recommend doing this tour all the way earlier in the day, then hopping off at points of interest. We did it on our last day being here (not having much left to do... Or so we thought!), and I only wish we would have done it first thing.
We highly recommend taking the Old Town Trolley group tour. We enjoyed the travel around Key West while listening to our interesting guide, the last time we visited during the Christmas Holiday Season. We rented a vehicle and in conjunction with all our walking the downtown, the Trolley will take you places you can sit back and enjoy the scenery without having to deal with all the traffic.
We highly suggest for any first time key west travelers to experience this trolley. We only wished we had. The driver, who is a Conck, was 5A and knew everything as if he owned the keys area. Well spoken and packed full of family humor made this a super great experience for us. Sadly he told us he would be retiring in a couple of months so if you havent, go and enjoy the experience.
First off the lady in the ticket booth was very rude and condescending. We were told that the trolley was leaving at 2:36. When the trolley arrived, it was full of people and we had to wait about 25 minutes for the next trolley. The tour itself was great, very informative and interesting. The driver was very nice and knowledgeable. When we arrived at Mallory Square, we were informed that if we wanted to continue the tour and return to our original stop, there was another trolley that would be leaving in 25 minutes. The trolley should have continued and changed drivers if necessary but not just leave us stranded with nothing to do. I recommend the tour but be advised it may take longer than the hour and 20 minutes they tell you it takes.
We took three trolley buses for a visit. All three of them are good. One of them was excellent in terms of the local knowledge of the driver. We think these are an excellent way to get to learn a new place. An hour and a half on a comfortable trolley bus with a knowledgeable local expert. Inexpensive and well worth it.
Old Town Trolley was not as informative as the Conch Train. Our guide (Grace) spent more time on personal experiences wrapped into area information than actual historical information. The trolley ride was a smooth ride and enjoyable.
The seats are very close together. If you have long legs, sit behind the driver. The tour was very informative and I love the ability to hop on and off.
Got to do this ASAP to make sure you get a flavor for the area and a good idea where to go and what to see.
Our tour guide/driver, Kenny, was EXCEPTIONAL!! Ive been on these types of tours in many cities and hes second to none. My family, half of which was reluctant to do this, could not stop talking about him. We enjoyed what he shared so much that we never hopped off. What a great guy and genuine soul who truly loves his home town! Were somewhat local Floridians and have been to Key West hundreds of times. Kenny shared so much with us that we did not know or appreciate. If Im entertaining out of town guests again in the future, I would definitely do this again. Final thought, the woman at the train office selling tickets (located streetside near the street entrance of the mall) had the complete opposite demeaner. Shes not friendly AT ALL. Save yourself from dealing with her attitude and buy your tix online for less.
Great way to see the different venues, get a feel for the place, and decide where you will go.
Very informative and great way to see the city. Definitely worth it and should be one of the first things you do.
Thia trolley goes around the whole island unlike the conch one. It have us a great over view so we knew what stops we wanted to go back too. Even tho I was worried since a cruise ship was coming that Sunday it was empty and we didnt have to wait long for the bus. If its two people its easier. We saw a group of 5 turned away and had to wait for the following bus so CE there were no available seats.
Enjoyed the tour, especially two of the guides named Robert and Kevin. So many interesting facts about the people and places in Key West. Great that you can hop on and off at your convenience.
Mary did a great job introducing us to Key West and helping us get tickets for the trolley tours. There were plenty of hotels along the trolleys route, which makes it super convenient. And all the guides we had really knew what they were talking about. I think the main guide we had was named Tim.The trollies werent too crowded, and masks were required to be worn during the drive. I heard masks are available if you dont have one.Overall, I enjoyed the trolley tour and will likely hop on one again tomorrow.
Great ride around the key lotta interesting information Lee was a great driver . Came right by our hotel easy on and off. Good value purchased on website got a discount.
Mr History is the best!!! Very fun informative and thorough. Stops at all the best sites, but we didnt want to leave the bus! If we had more time we would have sat through the entire tour once and then hopped on/off. This is the same company that runs tours in DC and is at that level of professionalism. Highly recommend.
This company should be in every city their drivers are knowledgeable friendly and local.
Good relaxing fun, and a nice way to get around for a day. I’d recommend.
Informative, drivers were pleasant and knowledgeable, we did 2 day pass, really could have done just 1.
For the cost, not worth it. We rode it once and got off halfway through, walked the rest as there was so much to see. Last trolly stopped at 430, had it run longer, it would have been better.
We love the Trolley. Hop on and off all over the Island. Very informative and entertaining drivers. We highly recommend the two day pass.
Nice place to see with riding old town troller.
Trolleys were maintained well. Every trolley driver/instructor enforced covid rules as regulated and with their knowledge tour went really well. With the # of stops they have, we were able to cover everything we want to do in keywest. From beaches to points like southern most, mile 0 marker trolley helped us to go everywhere with little walk.
By far one of the best things we did this trip the tour drivers were the best and friendliest people who completely made the trip amazing
Great experience at the *Old Town Trolley* . Second time visiting Key West, the first time I drove from New York City with the family, but this time I hopped on the Old Town Trolley and really enjoyed the sightseeing of Key West from the Trolley. Miguel, Mike or Miguelito was a GREAT tour guide and driver. Thanks😊
Tour was great. Lou, our guide, was knowledgeable and entertaining.
Good hop-in hop-out tour to know the basics of Key West . A bit quick in the old Town but ok. Of the three trolleys we boarded, we were most satisfied with the guide Jerry. His way of telling stories and his english was the easiest to understand for a non american tourist.
August 8 update:Raising my score. The owners made good on their satisfaction guarentee . I would give them another chance on my next visit.------hop on/Hop off Is not accurate.Hop off? YesHop on? NOT SO MUCHThe first time we got off we had to wait for three trollies. The first two were full and no one got to reboard for 45 minutes. The second time we got off, there were 15 people waiting to reboard. After waiting for 35 minutes, the next trolley only had room for two.At this point we had spent more time waiting than the advertised round trip time.We bailed and instead walked the length of Duvall. My tip is to s;kip the trolley and instead spend the day walking the downtown area. Take an Uber if you want to visit one of the further attractions.
Best part of the ride was our driver, Kenny. He was very knowledgeable and funny. Getting off and on where we wanted was great.
No time to take pictures. And wasnt asked over priced
Great experience. Worth the price and time.
The driver was very good and knew her history!! Nice way to get around the city also.
This tour was worth a ride around Key West. It would be nice if it were a little less expensive. The drivers were great!
We use these for the first day we travel anywhere new. And a good way to get to know a town if you are staying a couple days or more. This time we pre-booked thru booking.com and the on-line transfer between the two was very bad. The service person was very abrupt, and we had to fill paperwork out all over again..so why did we book on-line? I guess if we went direct it may have been better, but if you dont have it together with other agencies, than dont use them as an option.
Make sure your ready to return by 4pm.. didnt go back to stop by our tour bus after that. Ben and Pat are funny - knowledgeable
Excellent local knowledge. Loved this tour.
Nice pier to walk on and see the beach. It has restaurants, restrooms, a giftshop, and free parking. It is close to the Venice airport so an occasional airplane can be seen.
Try to get on Graces bus. She is so funny and clever. Never a dull moment. Thanks Grace for a memorable day.
It was easy to buy a ticket, boarding was easy, trolleys were running on time, lots of history shared in between stops.
Always a great experience on the Trolly tour. You have to stop and take the tour if you’re in Key West!
The ability to get on and off was wonderful. It really made for our own personal tour.
We had a great time on this tour. Loved being able to get off and back on!
Our trolley tour was both enjoyable and a great way to get around Key West!
Historical reference that brings meaning to Americas most treasured place.
Had a great time, very informative. They have great customer service too, We had a stop where there was not enough room on the trolley to fit us. The driver made a call to the base and they sent a special Tolley to come get us so we did not have to wait another 30 mins. It only took 5 mins for the additional trolley to show up. Glad they had a game plan for that type of problem. It turn what could have been a very upsetting event into a non-issue. Thanks again!!!
Very disappointed charge full price for last ride n coykdnt get on n off not even to take a picture in the southern part of the keys. so upsetting
It was an amazing tour of Key West. Our tour guide, Tom, did a great job! We got off at stop c, and had an awesome lunch at one of the many local restaurants...we loved the ambiance! 😁
Lots of fun, learned a lot from very funny guides
Tour was good, guides were good. The train itself is not comfortable, limited leg room for over an hour tour.
Its a little pricey for a trolley tour in my opinion, yet there are discounts out there if you look for them. However the experience was great with a fun, energetic, and knowledgeable guide. If you want a way to get around during day hours while also learning about the facts and history of the island and particular areas then this is a must do!
Great tour - comments and stories given along the way added to a wonderful ride through old town and new town Key West. Easy on / off allows for experiencing stops attractions. Im on the tall side (+6) and found the trolleys leg room similar to that of an airplane. Worth the money because of being able to get on / off throughout the day
We always use Old Town Trolleys for tours! Key West was wonderful!
We have used Old Town Trolleys in other cities, but were disappointed by the one in Key West. The driver spoke 80% about what restaurant or what bar was on this or that corner and very little about any history of the town. He also lacked the interesting stories and entertaining rhetoric that our previous drivers had.
Surprisingly good and a great way to get around and absorb history in a fun way.
Good education of the island, and the all day on/off comes in handy for getting around town.
Informative and ontime at pick up locations.
Very informative and the best way to see all of Key West.
Fun way to ride around Key West and learn about the history along the way!
This is a convenient way to see all the sights of Key West while also learnt in some of the history of the area. You can hop on / hop off anytime during operating ours. A bus runs about every 20-30 minutes. My only complaint is the hours of operation - 10am to 4:30pm. There is really not much time to see more than a couple of attractions plus lunch during this short window.
Informative, fun tour guides and a convenient way to get around town.
Such a great time! Bob and Louie are amazing!! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Funny!! It was nice to learn about the history of the island and find cool places to go.Thank you so much for sharing your day with us. ☺️
I’m giving this two stars because of two employees we encountered that probably shouldn’t be in customer service. The first was Luann. We were attempting to board for the first time at the aquarium. She pulled her trolly behind a full trolly preparing to leave. I walked up to her trolly and asked “do we go ahead and get on? We haven’t done this yet”, a seemingly harmless question. Her response “well, no, what do you think I’m going to do, run through the trolly in front? I can’t go over or through him”. As first time riders, she sure went out of her way to provide a rude response rather than helping us. The second was the lady working the desk at the southernmost point stop today at 1:15. We stopped to wait for the trolly and my mother in law put her purse on the desk to retrieve her sunglasses. The worker came over immediately and ask if she could help us. We responded that we were ok, we were just getting something out of a purse and waiting for the trolly. Her response “ok well I’ll need to ask you to move away from the desk”. Keep in mind, there was NO ONE at the desk in line and the desk was part of the tour we had paid money to be on. I do not understand why they couldn’t allow a paying customer to set down an item for 20 seconds. These two encounters unfortunately really soured the trip for us, especially considering how much we paid for the tickets.
On time, good tour narration and well maintained equipment.
We use Old Town Trolley Tours every time we go to a town theyre located in. They are always the best tour guides in town.
Enjoyed the tour it helped give our friends a better layout of Key West.
Driver and trolley were good but did not feel it was worth the money
Great tour...Todd was a great guide
Pam was a wonderful guide....Lee was a little snippy at first but ended up being really good.
Fun tour driver was great.
Was a lot of fun and a way to get off our feet and escape the heat while still enjoying key west! Educational through out the tour which takes you on 13 stops.
Fun for 1 day, but very expensive. Recommend using the bus for everyday travels around the area
Rode the whole loop with Bob! He was very knowledgeable and truly seemed to enjoy showing us around. We loved the island history that the tour provided and the chance to see all the sights without having to personally worry about the cars and pedestrian traffic.
Kenny made the tour great!
Very good information. Gets you around all the cool places
Informative but would reconsider knowing price👎
This was a great tour! Alot of great history and you can get on and off all day
Love this touring company. Every where we go we use this old town trolley
This tour is great! Takes you top to bottom of Key West and the drivers narrate as they go. Look for the summer saving package; for activities including the Trolley for under $50 per person.
Great way to see and learn about the keys. Louie was our trolly guide and he was absolutely hilarious and so personable.
