These guys are top notch. I don’t know why the others were so disappointed but they were awesome. Easy pick up and easier drop off. Let us choose what convertible we wanted. We did have reservations so maybe that was the difference. But honestly, why wouldn’t you make reservations this day and age! GREAT EXPERIENCE.

Okay…the reviews are all true about the reservation meaning nothing in this location. I also waited over an hour for the car which was dirty upon receiving it. Staff was informative and would not say rude at all as it is described in some other reviews. I think there could be a management problem as there’s a wait time for most if not all the reviews. Hope things could turn out to be better in the future as there ain’t many other rentals places in Key west as a whole. If I can give a tip, just use an uber in Key west.

This Key West Alamo location deserves zero stars We had a flight delay due to weather, so we called the rental to tell them we would be late. They assured us that they would be monitoring the status of our flight and someone would wait up to hours past the scheduled arrival. We arrived within that time frame at 10:07 pm. We realized this location closes at 10:00, but had been reassured someone would be there to help. When we arrived someone was at the counter waiting. As we (and other guests) approached the desk, the woman left the desk and retreated somewhere to the back. She didn’t come back out to the counter until 15 minutes later and proceeded to shut off the lights and rudely told all of us that the keys to the cars had all been locked up for the night. We were left standing at the terminal with no car and nowhere to stay for the night. We ended up paying a taxi driver $200to drive us to our destination in Marathon. The next day we called customer service to complain and also to arrange for a vehicle. We were given nothing for the inconvenience and at this point also lost one day vacation talking on the phone and driving back and forth. Also our original 8 day rental was $667 and the new agreement for 7 days was quoted at $1,148. Because “prices are subject to change”. Stay far away from this rental location and until corporate responds to our mistreatment, stay far from Alamo as well.

I booked a car 2 months ago for pick up at 5:15pm. It’s currently 7pm and we’ve been told “just another 20 minutes” 4-5 times now with no real concern. They told us they just don’t have any cars available which is mind boggling when we have a reservation.Thankfully Hertz has plenty of cars available and we’re great with customer service. Go with Hertz when flying into Key West.

If I could give them a zero, I would. Had a car reserved weeks in advance but upon arrival, we completed the paperwork and we were told we had a 45 minute wait. That wait turned into over a 2 hour wait. When I called their customer care number, the lady offered no explanation but was told that we would get an apology email and credit on our bill for our inconvenience. Then we were given a key and told what spot it was in but no description of the vehicle, and had to wander through garage and find it ourself. Did not receive an email concerning any credit.When we returned the car, there was no parking attendant in the garage so we had to go back inside to return the key. The guy said he could not do any check in at that time but to leave the key and we would receive an email confirmation within 30 minutes. Still have not received that email 48 hours later.What I did receive was a text message for a customer service satisfaction survey. I gave them a scathing review. I will never rent from Alamo again unless I am desperate for a vehicle and they are the only provider in town. Terrible desk customer service and terrible corporate customer care followup.

The only knock here is you have to wait quite a while to speak to the car reps. They were polite and I didn’t wait long once I checked in to get my car. Overall good experience.

All the other reviews are absolutely true, worst customer service. Completely unprofessional staff and inadequate cars. We booked premium crossover with 7 seater which they didn’t have any. We were asked to wait an hour in the cafe upstairs. We decided to take taxi to our hotel in key west. Got the call that the car is available after about hour and half. The biggest reveal was that they don’t have any car seats rental to offer at this location, we were told key west is a very small airport. Had to scramble to buy car seats from local store.

Worst experience ever. Rented a car from Miami drove to Key West. Car died on me twice needed to get jumpstarted on Friday then again on Sunday.

This place is a danger to public health and safety. They are not following the “pledge” Alamo has on its website where they promise they are sanitizing all vehicles. In fact, they have abandoned cleaning vehicles between rentals altogether. When we picked up our vehicle, I looked inside to see if it had been cleaned. A Clorox wipe had been placed in the cup holders so I assumed (very wrongly) that the car had been cleaned because someone had clearly been inside the vehicle. As the interior of the vehicle was black and we picked it up from a dark garage, we drove away to our next destination. We were enjoying the convertible and scenery so when we stopped at our first destination, about an hour away, and I noticed mud on my foot after I exited the vehicle, I was shocked to realize it was from inside the vehicle!!! Upon closer inspection, the interior of this vehicle hadn’t been cleaned in months. There was dirt and grime in every crevice, and every surface was sticky with who knows what. Not to mention the windows didn’t close properly (which was awesome when a storm rolled through while we were on Islamorada) and the windshield washer fluid was out.That is only the beginning of the troubles. As soon as I realized the car was in fact NOT sanitized before they gave it to us (we’re still in the midst of a pandemic here, people, and Key West had been awesome with COVID precautions our entire 5-day stay there so this is in no way a review of Key West itself) I called the Key West Alamo location and learned that they do not pick up phone calls there but instead have them forwarded to Alamo customer service where they apparently have absolutely no control over anything the local branch does. I offer to have the car detailed and the bill sent to Alamo Key West but the customer service rep tells me “they don’t like us to do that because the cost of detailing the vehicle may be more than the discount they’re willing to give for the unsanitary vehicle”. The simple truth is they care more about the bottom line than their customers’ health and safety. Customer service put in a ticket to have the Key West branch call me on Saturday. Saturday goes by, Sunday goes by, Monday goes by....finally on Tuesday I call again. I’m trying to be reasonable, all the while freaking out inside about how many people have sat in this vehicle before me with no sanitation measures having been taken. During that second call, I learn that the Key West branch has given me a $25 refund. $25?!?!?! I paid $700 for a 5-day rental and got a car that not only wasn’t sanitized but didn’t even work properly, never got a call back, no apology, but a $25 credit. I told them I do not accept that as a resolution and they put in another ticket to have someone from the Key West branch call me. Currently it is Thursday night, we returned the vehicle to Miami, and I haven’t heard a peep from Key West. I made a third complaint to Miami Alamo and I also opened a ticket with Costco, through which we booked this rental, for them to investigate. I will also be reporting this location to the Key West authorities because they are actively endangering the health and safety of Key West visitors with their unsanitary practices.

Terrible service! We waited 2 hours in the heat for our reserved rental in Key West. The car was dirty and had very little gas in it. We had to turn it in early because when we went to go for a drive there was no gas available. (A gas shortage) The staff was rude and not helpful! Will not ever use them again!!!

AWFUL. I reserved a car for Friday around noon. Got there at 3 and they still told me it would be an hour wait for a car. The female who was helping us was very rude and her manager (Maleria) was no better. She started yelling at us for raising our voices. Mind you it is the pandemic and we are all wearing masks and talking through plexiglass. Proceeded to ask me for a flight number or major credit card. Apparently I wasn’t able to continue without one. Let’s see how long it is until we actually get the car that was reserved for 12 o’clock. Save yourself the rudeness and go somewhere else.

Great employees- I flew in on a day when they were overwhelmed and had run out of cars, but to their credit they worked the problem and got me going after a reasonable wait. I saw them deal with some very rude customers and no one lost their cool but stayed very nice. Whatever they’re making, it isn’t enough

I prepaid to rent a car, but when I got there and waited in line for 20 minutes or so, there werent any available. There were about a dozen other people in line that were out of luck as well. At least the agent could have told everyone in line that they were out of luck insead of making us wait.
