I highly recommend this shop for brake service! I thought my front brakes were ready to be replaced. So, Kevin checked both the front and rear brakes. He determined that a small amount of rust on a front brake rotor may have caused the noise I heard. He promptly called me with the news that my brakes were in excellent shape and did not need to be replaced. Also, he didnt charge for his time!! This type of honesty and generosity is refreshing and speaks to the integrity of this gentleman and his staff. I will definitely be returning regularly for my auto needs.

Great service. Dropped my vehicle off overnight and called when they opened to tell them what I needed. I called early on a Tuesday where the shop was transparent to get my car in early for an oil change. I let them know I needed to get my car back within a timeframe to make my drive back to Chicago, they told me that they understood the priority and would fit me in. When I arrived, I was greeted by Kevin, who initially didn’t see me, because he was vibing out and working hard to hard rock or heavy metal song, which I very much appreciated and respected. He again reiterated that he could meet my needed timing and would give me a call when it was ready. Shortly, I received a call an hour early that the car was ready. I came within 10 minutes to pick up my car and was approached by genuine smiles by Kevin and his staff to see how they could help me. I was able to quickly pay and get to my car. I loved the excellent customer service and would recommend this business to anyone in KC.

I dont see how this place has such good ratings. I dropped off my car at 7:30 this morning for an oil change. The guy told me hed have it done by lunch. 3pm I hadnt heard from them so I called and was told it would be 4:30 or 5. For $75.60 I could get a better, cheaper, faster oil change from the dealership.

Kevin and his team are awesome. The high ratings on Google and Yelp are well-deserved. Great communication about the issues and cost, easy check-in of the vehicle, quick turnaround on repairs, and as opposed to other shops, I was actually shocked at how LOW the total invoice was based on all the work performed and parts purchased. Bottom line is these guys are honest, dependable, communicative, and excellent mechanics. Some may avoid because they only take walk-ins (as opposed to setting an appt), but trust me, its worth it to get over there early when they open to get your vehicle checked in. Will definitely be returning for any future maintenance/work needed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

After the scary realization that both my check engine light and my check power steering light were on, a friend recommended I go to KC Brake and Auto to get checked out. They quickly got me in (same day), and gave me an answer on what was causing the issue by the end of the day. They dont make shops like this anymore. This place is a true KC gem.Kevin and his team are hands down some of the most professional and trustworthy mechanics Ive ever met. I called them up on a Monday morning concerned about a vibration I was feeling in my car when driving at highway speeds (55+). I had already taken my car to another mechanic who couldnt tell me what was going on with it and that theyd just have to start replacing things until they figured it out.KC Brake got my car in the same day to take a look at it. When they couldnt recreate what I was feeling they kept it another day just to be sure and check it out again. On the second day they noticed the small vibration as well. They went through checking the entire front end; suspension, brakes, tires, all of it and determined there were no major components to be replaced. Upon some further investigation they realized my tired had some variance to them and thats what I was feeling. Kevin and his team could have told me this or that needed to be replaced and I probably would have taken them at their word, but they didnt. They were honest about nothing being wrong and just told me to bring it back when I did have something.I cant recommend them more highly, and I will definitely be taking all of my future work here.

Ive gone here several times. The first thing I noticed before getting my first service was how nice the entire staff was. I havent run across anyone unfriendly here. They treat you so well. The second thing to point out is how fair they are. Im a female without much knowledge of cars and Ive never once felt taken advantage of. Ive even had them tell me I dont need new brakes just yet when the Mazda dealership told me I did. They are speedy, friendly, and very fair. I would recommend x100!

Great honest work. Dropped my car off in the morning because I was experiencing heavy front end shake when braking off the highway. Fully expected to pay for new brakes on both axles but Kevin assured me the front brakes I had just replaced we’re fine and that resurfacing the front rotors and only replacing the rear would be enough to aid the issue. I’ve had regular maintenance done at other shops (shops that had no problem overcharging me for repairs I didn’t need) but my car hasn’t driven this smoothly since I bought it. They had the work done within a day, fixed a few extra issues at no cost and even answered some questions I had about buying a used car. So happy to have found a mechanic I can trust close to my new office. Will definitely be back if I have any other vehicle-related concerns.

I took my car in for a routine oil change. Shortly before I picked it up, they told me something in the car was leaking and theyd need to take a closer look. I told them I will take a closer look myself. When I did, I instantly opened up the front hood to my car to find that they had never screwed my oil cap back in, causing some oil to shoot out of the pipe that oil is put in. While I caught it early, this simple mistake could have easily ruined my entire engine. Needless to say, I am not coming back here ever again and I advise others to do the same.

As always Kevin and his crew performed spectacularly. I went in expecting to pay about $1500 for a new heater core and thermostat in my wrangler. A recommended flush, new water pump and a couple of hours later and the problem was solved for pennies on the dollar. They are the most honest shop I have ever used. Been going there for over 10 years for anything from an oil change to suspension and engine issues. I highly recommend them!

Kevin and his crew assessed my issue, promptly identified a solution, called me to verify and approve the work before it was done, and did it all with professionalism, courtesy, and care. Additionally, upon pickup, a crew member (I’ll call him ‘J’) promptly offered me cold bottled water while the invoice was being prepared, noting that it was hot outside. This place is great! I’ve been coming here for years. Recently, when I stopped working downtown, I tried to find another reliable place closer to my home in Overland Park. BIG MISTAKE! After a pretty bad experience (that I never would have had at Kevin’s), I will now simply make the drive for service that I can rely on and trust. They fix the problem, and nothing more, at fair, reasonable rates.

What can I say, these guys are pros. Best value brake job Ive ever seen. I did my rear brakes but then didnt have time to do the front so I brought it in. Had I known the value of this place, I wouldnt have even bothered saving money by doing the back. Reasonable labor cost as well as minimal mark up on parts. And super reasonable for a fully synthetic oil change. The guys I dealt with were very friendly and professional. Im happy to say Ive found a garage in KC that I trust. I will return when needed.

I’ve never taken time to review a business online, but these guys deserve it. I had grinding noises coming from my rear brakes and rotors, so I came by around 7:30 am to drop my car off. Kevin (I believe) called two hours later and confirmed they’d need to be replaced. He said it would be $304 in a somewhat somber tone, and I have no idea why because I’ve paid $600+ for the same job elsewhere before — $300 is a steal. There was nothing somber about that news at all. My car was done by noon, no problems. These guys are legit. If you live downtown, this needs to be where you take your car. Plus, they’re two blocks over from the streetcar so that makes it easier since you don’t need to get an Uber or have a buddy drive you. I’ve already forgotten the other shop I‘ve been going to, this is my new spot!

This is the best auto service I have ever had in my life, Josh help fixed my fender linner very quickly and cheap. he also give me the best suggestions to where should I fix my bumper issues. I really appreciate for their help, and definitely will come back again if I have any vehicle issues.

The reviews on Google do not lie... Kevin runs a great shop. He performed services to my wifes vehicle for nearly half the dealership price. It is extremely difficult to find a car mechanic that you can trust to not take advantage of you. The only negative is that Kevins shop does not take appointments and you have to just drop your car off early in the morning. Thats a small inconvenience if you work a 8-5 but the fast turn around time, fair prices, and no BS/upsales easily make this the best shop I have been to.

This is my go-to auto shop. Always honest and straightforward. Im usually DIY with my auto repair, but I cant always diagnose everything. My check engine light was showing an O2 sensor, and I had low engine power. Spent $200 trying to fix it myself before I took it in. KC Brake correctly diagnosed that the throttle body needed cleaning, and got me in and out for only $200. Cant beat that! Wish I had just taken it straight to Kevin in the first place.

As far as I’m concerned, Kevin’s is the only place I’ll take my car. The service is exceptional and Kevin is so professional. High quality service, great people.

One of the best auto repair experiences I’ve ever had. After I gave up on replacing a driveshaft myself, Kevin and his team finished my car in one day (along with TONS of other customers). I had concerns about a ball joint as well and they did not try to sell me on work I didn’t need. Super professional and friendly! Best of all, they charged $150 less than the next cheapest estimate! Great work on brakes however on rainy day left window down and vehicle outside to get saturated. When told he basically said...what do you want me to do about it? It took two days to fully dry drivers side seat and floor. Overall car care is expected when dropping off for repairs.
