I love getting my nails done here and believe they are the best quality in town. However, they are slightly more costly than most salons and without much rationale. I get a full set here for $50, which is reasonable. I recently got a full set with plain burgundy matte nails and was charged $58. When I asked what the extra $8 was for she said $5 for matte and $3 for long nails. This doesn’t appear to make much since because matte is just a top cost, it doesn’t require extra work nor does keeping my nail length medium/long. They also don’t charge for your nail length when you have them shiny instead of matte so this doesn’t make much since.I will definitely keep going due to great quality but price rationale should be considered and also told to the customer prior to doing their nails.

Best nail salon experience I’ve had so far- the guy that works here takes so much care in his work. A little pricier than expected, but so worth it. Will be back soon.

I do the dip manicure. Ive never had a dip from anywhere (in Kalamazoo or GR) that lasted more than a week. So far its been 2.5 weeks and they are still going strong. So impressed with how long theyve lasted without chipping/popping off/cracking.

Phoenix Nails always delivers on professional service and gorgeous nails! They made sure to adhere to all regulations for re-opening during COVID-19. Making an appointment was quick and easy, and I didn’t have to wait too long for my gel french manicure. Great staff and relaxing atmosphere. I went in and before anything was started I showed a picture of what I wanted. I asked multiple times what the price of this was. They kept speaking amongst themselves, not clarifying with me at all. Half way through they finally give a price. Now I’m aware for some reason all nail salons are prices during a pandemic, however the short length, simplicity, and overall look of my nails were NOT worth the amount I paid. To make matters worse, when I expressed my disappointment one laughed and one yelled “well what do you want” while waving her hands at me. At that point I told them it was fine and allowed them to finish. I paid the full price they insisted it was worth and left. Worst nail experience ever. Very disappointed. Will not be returning. Could have had a non professional on Facebook market do a better job for less.

They were terrible. I went to have my nails done. They did a fill in and put polish over the polish that was already on my nails. Not friendly at all. I would never go back, or recommend anyone. Go at your own risk, not because I said go.

While I was pleased with my shellac manicure, I was totally disappointed with the service received from Ann or Annie, she was rude, snappy, and frowning when inquiring about various colors. Id like to believe it was because she was pregnant. Doubt if I return, not desperate - nor will I pay for unpleasant, unprofessional service, too many choices.

Phoenix has a practice of blocking customers numbers from calling if they cancel an appointment for any reason.

I used to love coming here. It was relaxing and always clean. The last two visits have been very different. I feel rushed not very relaxed and even catch more attitude than anyone should when paying for a service. If youre looking to pamper yourself...this is NOT the place to go but if its just regular maintenance and no room for changes or upgrades...hey, makes sense.

I rarely leave negative reviews. I have great respect for small owner-operated businesses. However, its important to be able to leave a negative review without risking public shaming. I am STUNNED by the owners practice of responding to negative reviews by posting abusive comments about dissatisfied customers. I will give the owners the benefit of the doubt and assume this is about business ignorance or inexperience. Your success and dignity are at risk. I suggest taking a look at other salon review pages and hope you benefit.

DOAN and his wife are great and very friendly! Make sure you call and make an appointment and you will not have to wait long! Manicures and Pedicures are always the best!! My sister had recently gone through giving birth and wanted to get a pedicure that was close by just in case her husband needed something. We drove up and saw the pictures in the windows had a faded look. We entered and said that we wanted to get pedicures. There was one person working with a customer. One employee was lounging and the other was walking around. The one who was walking around said that they couldnt give us pedicures because there was not enough time. We went at 1. They had many hours before closing. I found that to be extremely rude. So we went to Escape Nails on West Main and they were fantastic. Avoid Phoenix and go to Escape instead.

My friend and I have been bouncing from nail shop to nail shop trying to find one that we loved and this is it! They are always very friendly and do great work (including designs!). I recommend making an appointment so that you dont have to wait as a walk-in. They are also great with kids and we have both brought our daughters to get their nails painted and designed as well :)

Awful went there at 7:00 and they were closing up when they are supposed to be opened till 7:30. Very inconvenientHello again just received a response from owner and it was very disrespectful! I have been going to other nail salons for a few years now, but I always ended up with flimsy nails or rushed work. Yesterday I did some research, decided to try a new place, and it was the best decision I ever made coming here! I was skeptical about going somewhere new but I got a gel full set and my nails look absolutely fantastic. This is my favorite set of nails Ive ever gotten! The prices are very reasonable, and I do not see one chip or mistake.I cant wait to come back here for my next full set!

Stunned and disappointed with the service and the way they speak to customers. Had an issue specific to nail care and was given no reason as to why I could not get and pay for the nails I wanted. Was treated with condescending attitudes and given no explanation or reasoning for that treatment. Absolutely hated my experience and my nails look awful but I did not want to stick around the place long enough to fix what I didn’t like because I felt so awkward and disrespected. Never have I EVER cried in an establishment but I did today. I’ll be taking my service elsewhere.

The owner has been taking care of my nails for nine years. And now that his wife is also part of the business, the sky is the limit. They are meticulous, artistic, and very professional. I love that they now have their own place to continuing growing. And of course the reason I go - the quality of their work - amazing!

Im not understanding the bad reviews saying the husband was rude or the service was bad. I went today, 1st visit, got full set gel nails, colored tips. Im beyond pleased with the service, politeness, and turn out of my nails. I love them and love this place! Ill be going to this salon from now on. The gentleman was very pleasant. I have never had my nails done with fake add ons before. He answered all my questions, and explained the process. I will have to do this again sometime, was a lot of fun.

Destroyed my nails. Instead of waiting she took a dremal to my natural nail. Left me with bloody cuticles and thin pit marked nails. Now I’m stuck painting them until the damage has grown out. My nails are sensitive and sore more than a week later.Furthermore, I was rushed choosing a nail color, and the quality of the of the product was horrendous. Did not cover my whole nail bit still managed to paint a good portion of my skin. In the next few days my cuticles would become inflamed and very red. Cannot expresses how terrible my experience was here.

Walk-ins can be kinda tough if youre wanting real nails. Theyre good. People book by appointment. Thats the only con. Otherwise, theyre clean and quick and talented.

Since Happy nails has been under new ownership and the name has changed to Phoenix Nails, I am more than satisfied with my services. For years I have been hopping around trying to find a nail salon that I can call home and Phoenix nails is it!! I love An (the wifes) work as well as her husbands work. They are very professional and will always take care of their customers to the fullest. I would suggest making appointments because they are short staffed, you have a chance of waiting for ever if you walk in. I have posted photos of some of their work that they have done. They are the best! I wish i was taking pictures of the work sooner so i could show them off more.

Love this pace! They are always busy but this is the only place I trust to do my nails anymore. I normally get shellac or a full set, only issue I ever have is when my nails grow, but other than that the manicure always looks perfect. Nothing they can do to fix that! :)

Great service and good prices. I get Shellac and a pedicure 2x a month and am extremely satisfied with their services. They draw a lot of people so if you dont want to wait make an appointment. If you walk in you will rarely get right in!

These two are the best ever... Most friendly and professional couple I have ever meet in this business. You would never catch me any where else.

They dont listen to the customer. I needed artificial nails and they told me that all I had booked was for a gel manicure so I had to leave and come back for more time to get them out on. Then I asked for a French manicure look with one blue nail on my ring finger. Instead they put ugly white tips on and said thats what I asked for and they didnt paint the one finger. Finally I had have them paint everything so it didnt look awful for my wedding pictures! I may not get my nails done all the time but I was really disappointed that I had to spend all day dealing with it and then paying for them to fix it. The last thing is that they also clipped my cuticles back really far and both my fingers and cuticles hurt pretty bad that night. That cant be good. I wont be going there again and I cant wait to get them off.

This was the worst experience ever. The guy was super rude, he was saying things that he shouldn’t be saying to me. He felt a little too comfortable. I got a full set pink and white powder with rhinestones on Wednesday and that night the rhinestones on my left hand had all fallen off. I was able to go back and get the put back on the next day at no charge only to have the other hand fall off a couple hours after I left. Even after I came back the guy seemed irritated he had to fix his error, not to mention it was super expensive. I will never be going back and do not recudir anyone to go. Escape on west main is way better!!

I have never been here before but from me just reading all the reviews and the responses from the owner and how they talk to clients. I can not believe how much judgement and disrespect someone actually thinks their entitled to say.

A friend of mine visits this shop. I’ve been turned away several times when joining her without an appointment, which is fine bc the husband and wife are very talented techs. They will tell you they are more appointment based. They’ve been around for years we worked with them at glamour nails before they started a family and their own shop. Very sweet! However I seen a google review on FB which led me here today. The way that the owner now responds to his clients is disgusting and very disrespectful, I was offended reading his responses. I even shared these responses with my friend and tried to get her to join me at ESCAPE NAILS! Very friendly! Fully staffed, Very professional! Willing to accommodate a mistake and not talk down on their clients! As a chick who loves her nails, and most of all RESPECT I would never go to this establishment again! Owner, you are better than talking to your clients like that! Prospective clients are watching. Very disappointed!

Our experience was terrible. They were rude, late, and seemed to disregard appointments with any sort of respect. Even though we had scheduled an appointment they seemed put out with our presence. My daughters were so excited for a nail salon adventure the day before the wedding and they left offended. One guest waited 2 hrs. for her scheduled appoint and was told when asked for how much longer it would be, that it would be another 20 minutes. Unacceptable!!!!! I would not recommend this place.

I never get my nails done because it is pointless. The polish chips off an hour after it is applied. But my grandma had never had a manicure so we stopped in on a whim. It was quiet and not busy. Nice and clean. But most importantly, both my grandma and I have been wearing this nailpolish without a single chip for 5 whole days. What sorcery is this?

HORRIBLE experience, at first I was happy because she was doing them pretty quickly and they seemed to be looking good, and then when I told her what I wanted she said she couldnt do it and that it was too hard. all it was, was matte black with silver at the base of the nail instead of the tip. but I accepted her saying she was going to do the tips silver. (and I dont like it at all although Ive had people say it was cute) And then I told her I have a baby (newborn) so I need them shorter (I was getting a fill) which she DID do and theyre short enough but then after getting done they were sooooo sharp in the corners I almost cut my own lip when I went to itch!!! I had to go home and file the corners down to dull them out. and then she rushed me out so fast I barely had time to put my wallet in my purse. overall bad experience and I wont be returning.

I have never been here...just wanted to post that the owners responses to the negative reviews have turned me off from trying this establishment. The responses are very unprofessional in nature which is concerning. You dont need to defend yourself to the point that you sound foolish and accusitory.
