Definitely has an assortment of machines and free weights which is nice - bathrooms are clean and in nice condition. The bench press benches are weirdly low which is my only equipment complaint.Why do I give them 2 stars? Short term member costs - and termination of membership issues. My membership (the best they could do for 2 months) was $85 for the first month ($40 membership fee), and $45 a month afterwards. End all be all, it was going to cost $130 for two months I planned being there… expensive . However, I play college football and the gym looked like it checked enough boxes w/ equipment - decision was made.I worked out around 7-8pm every night Sunday-Wednesday for a few hours and the crowd was small enough I could get done what I needed and leave - I liked that. Left Kalamazoo for New York in August - did not use the membership after July at all - forgot about it. Sadly, forgetting about the membership cancellation cost me $90 for two more months. In the end I spent $220 for two months of use and asked for the $90 back but ownership says no. I made a simple mistake that other companies that offer memberships usually reimburse - as I clearly did not use their service - but they dropped the ball on that one. I liked the gym before that!What do I recommend for potential members? Don’t go here UNLESS you live here year round and do not have access to another gym. The costs are lower for those who purchase year long memberships - which are very reasonably priced. If you are in Kalamazoo for a few months (I.e. a student or construction worker) probably not the best bet, use the Western Mich. gyms if you are a student. It hurts me to leave a negative review, but money hurts more (not even sparing me with a “sorry we can’t do anything” leaves a sour taste in my mouth). This was my experience with Kalamazoo Powerhouse - it was great until the end.

The staff are amazing, kind, and flexible for whatever your fitness needs are. The facilities are cleaned kept up every single day! Other patrons are respectful of your time and work flow. This is definitively the BEST GYM in Kalamazoo!

Awesome gym! Has every major piece of equipment you could need (Power rack, benches, leg press, reverse hyper, etc...). Staff were so helpful and nice! If youre in the area, make this place your gym! If youre in town visiting as I was, make sure this is the place you visit! Again, thank you to the staff for helping a visitor so much!

Ive been coming here regularly for over a year and have gone from a pole to swole. Seriously though, this place is awesome and theyve got everything you need to hit your fitness goals.Ill be moving soon for work and Im heartbroken to leave PH!

I just moved back to Kalamazoo after living in Chicago for 9 years and Germany for 11; so it has been a long time. I was a member there in the 90s and a personal trainer at a powerhouse in chicago in the early 2000s; and this is still the best gym in town. I checked many others and this place is for everyone from the beginner who wants to lose weight to the serious bodybuilder or power lifter. It is always clean, the staff say hi and are very friendly, and it is not intimidating for the people who think you have to be a bodybuilder or power lifter in order to be a member. The equipment is top and always in good working order and locker rooms are clean, and the atmosphere makes you want to push yourself to the max. The membership fee is so great that it eliminates the excuse of not reaching your fitness goals due to expensive monthly dues..If you go 4 days a week, it is like $1.50 a workout; for 2 Starbucks Coffees, you can workout for the week (and then some). I cant say enough good things about Powerhouse; and I have been a memeber in gigantic supergyms in major cities around the world.

Happy to see this gym has a 5 star rating. Without a doubt this is the best gym I have ever been to. No it doesn’t have a pool and some of the amenities like some of the other gyms out there, but as far as a “pure gym” goes; this is the cleanest, has the best machines/weights/other facilities (core room, Olympic room, etc), is perfectly clean, and all around excellently dialed in that you will find anywhere.

I’ve been to many gyms in my life, but non have had the atmosphere or cleanliness of this gym. I’ve been to MegaGyms in big Cities, I’ve been to the chain gyms that you can find everywhere, but non have been worth a 5 Star or for me to want to write a review. The owner of this location puts so much heart and soul into this facility that 90% of the patrons have better courtesy then I’ve seen anywhere. I myself find I don’t care to linger to long on equipment and will even pick up after others not get used to this amazing culture. Everyone who’s been going to this gym for a long time feels more like family then faceless mobs you try not to make eye contact with while trying to work out. All ages and body shapes seem welcome as no one is shunned. This gym has definitely raised the bar, no pun intended, on what my expectations are for a gym!!!

Great gym. Tons of equipment and staff is helpful and friendly. Membership also offers boot camp classes which are high intensity fitness classes led by experts. Clean facility also offers filtered water bottle refills, showers, Kids’ Zone, tanning, one-on-one trainers, and massage. Great for a beginner like me, or a professional body builder. Highly recommend.

The equipment is excellent for beginners and athletes. The staff is friendly, approachable, and extremely knowledgeable. There are so many additional services from the Kids Zone for busy parents to personal training to massage and group classes. 24-hours access is greatly appreciated. The gym is always clean from the front door all the way back to the well-equipped locker rooms.

Toured the new Powerhouse Gym Kalamazoo last week. Then, I cancelled my membership at my old gym and became a member. Closer to home, larger, cleaner, new equipment, actual locker rooms, water fountain which fills bottles, and staffed early AM-late PM. Inaugural workout there this morning. Planning 4-5 days of workouts there weekly.

Power House Gym is beautiful and atmosphere is very nice.I literally miss everyone there and hopefully to come back soon.Its been awhile.I will do everything to convinced my self to come back to that gym or have my friends speak to Lu about coming back. I have a lot of good friends and I do like Lu and hes a nice guy,We had our boundaries in the past and its water under the bridge,When I got mad and when I had issues with 2 employees,he didnt do anything about it and I got very angry and I left the gym and thats why I asked if I could cancel my membership and I was working for bac and wasnt worth paying for a gym membership at a gym because my membership was free and I got eliminated due to covid19.I been at a different gym,but its farther out and I just want to come back at power house gym and work things out like adults always does,I have plenty of good friends that actually care about me,When the owner doesnt let you come back,Makes you want to do everything you can to work things out like adults.We all adults and we must forgive each other and give people 2nd chances
