If opening a gym and manufacturing steroids are the coolest things you have going for you I suggest looking into reading some books or seeking out a hobby.

They kept playing “Cotton Eyed Joe” every time I went here to do my sets. It’s a good song, but come on. Following the owner’s instructions I was told that I need to lift “my dad over my head” in order to make him proud. I thought that was weird, but I did it. Not sure it helped, but it did give me something to latch my whole identity to. Two stars cuz the free baklava is pretty okay.

Was lied to and coerced into a membership because they promised me a decent job . Job was a lie and they charged me for a full year membership and refused to cancel my membership . The gym is absolutely filthy and old and filled with lying meatheads look elsewhere for a gym you have been warned.

Claim they care and donate to cancer when in fact all they do is slander people who have it.

Horrible with account cancellations. Watch out for the fine print in contracts and “auto-renewals” that can come up even once your contract is completely over.

I’ve been a member for a few years and plan to continue my membership for years to come. I love that they are open 24/7 as this allows for a lot of flexibility in my hectic schedule. They have all the free weights and machines you could want for a full body workout.Another aspect I enjoy is that they have multiple locations and your membership is good for all the locations. I typically use the downtown gym, but sometimes If I need to go grocery shopping I hit up the Gull Road gym because it’s right next to Meijer.The staff is always courteous and helpful. The members are helpful and friendly as well. I’ve never had a problem asking someone for a spot or to watch my form.Clean and affordable.

When I read some of the reviews I was worried about the gym. I went anyways! Glad I did... the culture of the gum members is so welcoming, staff more than happy to help. The equipment is just fine. I have a trainer 2x a week. Was told exactly what my contract would be. Nothing dirty about it. Not super fancy; but!!!! Thats why I like it. Its a nice place to workout. I recommend this place.

Best chain of gyms in Michigan. They have equipment for every workout and muscle group. Great for anybody including beginners. They have great staff and personal trainers. I won’t be going to any other gym.

I really enjoy this gym. They offer classic equipment for a great self driven workout and both the gym staff and the users are always respectful. I love going here. No lunk alarm and its never over crowded!

I’ve never had an issue with this gym. I’ve been a member at multiple other gyms around the Kalamazoo area and this gym has been the most worry free experience out of all of them. Fair rates, decent equipment, great atmosphere, many additional “perks” such as tanning and personal training, kind and courteous staff, and three locations in the metro Kalamazoo area.

I got my membership because they had a really awesome Zumba, yoga instructor. The classes were awesome. Then they fired her. I continued to go for a short time but didn’t stay engaged like I would have if there was a class to attend. The only convenience is it’s open 24 hrs a day. They recently put in a locker room which is nice. Half of the equipment is broken or not functioning up to par. The staff is not polite. It’s not managed well and the facilities are dirty. The last time I was there, 2 months ago perhaps. I went to use the bathroom and the toilet was clogged. I had to leave and couldn’t even finish my workout. I can’t wait until my membership is over. I could have gotten a membership at a different gym for $10 a month where the equipment is well maintained. So disappointed.

The people who operate this gym and the quality of equipment are terrible. There are many better options to go to in Kalamazoo. This is what your gym experience will be like: its always disgusting. From the equipment to the bathrooms. They hardly clean anything and they only half ass vacuum the back. They dont mop the floors or the mats. So much of their equipment is broken and doesnt get fixed for months. Parts are missing. They dont even have clips for all their machines. However Mark buys houses! They advertise having large amounts of cash but invest none of it back in. They keep trying to add DIY projects like the new locker rooms. Which are awful. There is no privacy or bathroom or bench and there is one shower with a see-through curtain. Everything about this gym is a joke. The paper towels, toilet paper, and gym towels are never stocked. The doors dont work half the time and there arent night staff so you cant always get in. As with all the other user reviews: if you do end up going here never pay more than 20 and make them write you a way out of your contract. Like if you ever move. The Stadium Drive location is a bit better. Whoever manages that location appears to actually care a bit.

I have been an active member of Beyond Fitness for about a month and have had nothing but great experiences here. The manager has shown me how to properly use the equipment and the proper techniques without me asking for any advice. The staff are always willing to help to ensure you reach your goals!

My kind of gym. Been there about 8 years. Has helped me rebound from surgery. Stay strong stay healthy will be there until I cant no more. Peace guy

The owner is a cheap skate and bought defective plates. The plates arent what they say. Dont sign a contract because once you sign you cant get out or if you do its half of what you need to finish paying. Either way hes getting his money no matter what.

Super awesome and clean, perfect for weightlifting. Theres hardly anyone in there. One thing I would say is that the staff isnt very friendly to girls

Terrible management. Sign says “cardio theatre” but only 4/8 machines work. Sign says “tanning” but it’s always locked up, often no one around with a key. I feel like I’ve wasted so much money on this gym. Literally anywhere else is a better investment

Every day I go into Strength Beyond Fitness is a good day. The staff are great, all friendly and helpful. Jason the trainer is a blast to work with-never a dull moment in those workouts. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone that asked about it.

Since Ive become a new member of this gym I havent been to another in Kalamazoo. It is always open.. 24/7 access and you can bring a guest in for free which is great! They have all you could really ask for equipment wise and a great location next to WMU campus. The staff and trainers are very helpful as well. I would highly recommend this gym.

Ghetto dump

Good price: $20/month for a 3 year contract plus $50/year fee. Convenient location for me in Vine neighborhood, other gyms either far away or expensive or both. 24hrs is nice. Weight equipment good for the size of the gym (the location on Gull supposed to be much larger but Ive never been). Lots of treadmills, alternative cardio machines unavailable or very poor.

Very disappointed in this gym. After spending months working out here I decided I wanted to leave due to the quality of the gym. The gym is gross, along with the equipment. You can tell they don’t spend much time cleaning. Their machines ripped all of my nice gym clothing as well as I had a friend who cut themselves on a piece of equipment and had to get a tetanus shot due to the fact that the equipment is so grimy they were afraid of getting an infection. After decided to end my YEAR contract early, I come to find they lied to me when originally signing the contract and signed me up for THREE years rather than just a year like we discussed. Though, it is my duty as a client to read the contract thouroughly. I put too much faith in them and was scammed into a longer contract than what was discussed. I have multiple friends who have been conned into longer contracts by this gym as well. It’s not surprise that they think they can pull one over on college students because we are “so young and nieve”. I was so excited to join this gym but am utterly disappointed on how it turned out. Take your money else where.

Honestly, the cost is not worth the facilities. When I first activated my membership I was not explained that the money you pay up front is an activation fee in the amount of $100 in ADDITION to the outrageously high monthly price plus an extra charge every year for new equipment. Isnt that what your monthly payments are for?? Now Im regretting my choice every day and wishing I had gone to a cheaper and better kept up gym. Every aspect of this place feels like its designed to just suck more money out of you. Not the kind of feeling you want from your gym

As with any gym, be sure to get the full details of the cancellation policy in writing prior to signing up - as it is conveniently absent from the contract. As membership rates vary from person to person, be sure not to sign up with the neither initial $40 rate, nor the discounted $30 rate. Aim for the $20 rate that some manage to get.

3 year contracts are a scam especially in a town with college students that may move

This gym is Horrible and a total scam!! I came in for information on a free pass they offered me and they stole my information and now trying to force me into paying for the membership!! Telling me theres nothing that can be done.. Everyone beware of even thinking about this place, Total scam!!! Management needs to clean this place also if going to brag about service.. Everyone has a better chance at a good workout from home compared to this!! I wouldnt a roach to step in.

Worst gym in the Kalamazoo area. I signed up for this membership 2.5 years ago because they were close and open 24 hours a day. I should have known better when the guy immediately wrote up a membership deal for me to pay $80 a month for one person with no extra benefits. When I said no, we haggled all the way down to $20 a month. After a few months of work not going one time, I decided to cancel my membership. When I walked in they told me that I had signed a 3 year contract, I remember signing, but was not told about the 3 years!Today I went back in to cancel the membership again because I thought it has been close to the 3 years. In order to cancel today I had to pay 75% of the rest of my contract and a $50 “enhancement” fee because they haven’t gotten enough money yet from me.Do not join this gym unless you want to regret it for the next 3 years, go to planet fitness or literally anywhere else.

Overall very negative experience here, really don’t feel like I’m getting my money’s worth at all. Gym is advertised as 24/7 but on more than one occasion I have not been able to get in because the scanner was broken and not fixed for about a month after. Also towel service is advertised by very rarely are there ever any clean towels. Also there are only about 6 45 pound plates that actually weigh 45 pounds which makes it a hassle to find even weights. Only about 3 barbells in the entire gym as well which makes it very difficult to workout during busier times. Roof is constantly leaking as well. Not worth the money compared to powerhouse, especially being locked in a 3 year contract.

Good gym physically, the company they bill through is a nightmare, Paramount Acceptance. Google them for all of 3 seconds to found out all you need.Again, I am not knocking the ACTUAL gym, the employees are very helpful but totally powerless., just the company that manages it. They cannot manage anything about your contract once you sign it. They cannot change the method of payment for your bill.If for any reason you will not be there for the full term of your contract, do not sign up for the faustian gym membership.

I have been a member here for over 7 months. I love this gym.I have been a member for Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness and WMU. Strength Beyond is hands down the best of the bunch.This gym is built for people who actually want results. It doesnt matter how big you are or what level you are at, you can come here and feel welcome and get help to accomplish your goals.There is no free pizza, candy or doughnuts here, just people who help push you towards your goal.

Filthy. Equipment is busted and as jankety as it gets.Above all, staff and ownership are shady. Join the 21st century of gym standards. Advertise your price and make that your price. Scammy, high pressure, pushy haggling over the price of membership is wack.Here’s a tip when looking at this gym: don’t let them charge you anything more than $20/month. Just walk out if they tell you no. Go down the street to powerhouse and get a membership at a real gym. However, I’ll bet my last dollar they don’t let you walk out.

Never sign up with this gym. It is not worth the membership and if you want to cancel you have to pay 75% of the full membership. There facilities are small an lacking quality equipment. There isnt even a locker room at this location. Customer service after you sign up is horrible. Not worth any deal they offer you.

I tried out this gym on a free 2 week trial. I managed to make it 5 days in and quit going. This place is disgusting and overpriced.I do want to start by saying that the staff there seems very friendly and I only had good experiences with them. The gym on the other hand..-dirty. The stretchingmats, which were worn out yoga mats looked as if someone had walked over them with muddy feet years ago and were never cleaned off. The drinking fountain looked as it hadnt been wiped off since it was put in. The wall above the drinking fountain had some sort of juice (Gatorade maybe?) on it, which had obviously been there a while since there was hair and dust covering it.-Lunks. Ok, this gym tells you from the start that they allow grunting, weight dropping, etc. but its still just not my thing.-Location. I tried out both locations, which were at least a 20 minute drive for me either way. The Gull Rd location forces you to turn (in my case, left) onto a very busy road next to an intersection and the W. Michigan location is located on a 1-way so you are forced to drive through neighborhoods to get back out to the main road.-Price. With a 3 year agreement this place is $30 a month. 30 A MONTH! I wouldnt go to this ill kept establishment if it was free! Like I stated before, I didnt even make it a week into my free trial before going elsewhere. It was THAT bad.-Old equipment. I prefer treadmills and they have all of 5 to chose from. The first one I used pulsed at low speeds and felt as if you were moving the machine manually. The second treadmill I used the speed function was all out of whack. I generally run at 5.5 miles an hour but the 5.5 on this particular machine was really about 3.0mph. Yes, I felt like a bad-ass running at 7.0mph but I was really just cheating myself.I just dont understand why anyone would pay to go to this gym. For $30-$50 there are a lot of better options out there.

Well i went in to get a membership an was told sence i wasnt sure if i wanted to join they said i had to come certian hrs ...my best friend refered me she got a card an free member ship i got a paper card an was told if i did not want to join w would pay nothing now i hear my neice tryed to get out of her free two months and in order to get out of a free trial she has to pay 700$ witch i find very rude its free for so many days how r u tied in like a contract so yeah ill be on the picket line am not happy at all about this business i guess going to find out about my free member ship i wasnt dressed right i had one guy tell me they did this to him he tryed to cancel cause he moved an didnt get the mail so this bis took him to court smh

Jason Wunderlin is a personal trainer there, and I have seen so much progress from working with him. Strength Beyond has a killer lifters atmosphere, and you will make gains here for sure.All of the staff members are more than helpful when it comes to workouts, whether it be showing you how to use a machine, what the proper form is, or giving you a spot. I am an NPC Bikini competitor, and these locations are the best places to train at for my shows.I dont understand how other reviews say that the staff is unfriendly and the gym is dirty... Its quite the opposite. The Facebook reviews are much more helpful than these Google ones. Also... To everyone saying that they could not get out of their contract: thats why it is called a contract. Dont sign it if you cant fulfill it.

Excellent workout “junkie” gym.

First thing that comes to mind when you enterBeyond Fitness, is the feel of a home gym. Safe environment friendly memebers and staff. I myself had no idea on how to workout properly, to achieve my goals, but the management at Beyond Fitness was more then willing to offer free advice, tips and instructions on how to become physically fit. Now after a mear month of casual attendance, i have lost over 35lbs and feel likenim making so much progress. Also for a student its not far from my home or campus.

Constantly dirty gym, poor equipment and ridiculously long contracts that lock you in into the end of time.

Just went there today and was told I could get a free 2 week trial. Later on the guy wanted me to sign a contract for 2 years and if I were to cancel it would be 75 percent cancellation fee which would be 30$ times 24 months. This guy just wants to take your money. Crappy little gym too.
