This tour was worth every penny. Alex, the bus driver, was extremely friendly and engaging. Alex made sure we got to all the best spots before the competitor tour buses. Everything about this trip was excellent. Definitely bring a towel! If youre on the fence about booking this tour, do yourself a favor and take the leap.
Oscar was horrible. His erratic and dangerous driving was nauseating. His loud music and whistle blowing was painful. He tried to leave people behind that were on time in the middle of hana. Doesn’t talk much about Hawaii. He was overall insane honestly. Stay clear for your peace of mind and safety. The black sand beach was pretty cool, however.
They cancelled the tour for my Wife and I five days before its date on our honeymoon. I had this reserved months in advance and we get an email stating For unavoidable reasons we have to cancel your tour. If youre being paid over $400 for something to be reserved, especially ahead of time, its probably wise to state a clear, transparent reason to your customers why it was cancelled. It didnt help that the company didnt even offer to make it up, i had to contact viator, the company directly, email them too. Only then did they offer to see if something may open up they would call but it didnt matter at that point because what they offered was a month later. It destroyed the whole purpose of reserving our spots in the first place. This was an extremely terrible experience because we had to act fast to try to book something else quickly as this was the plan for the entire day. Its not easy to find tours in Maui five or four days prior to your vacation/honeymoon in peak tourist time. Please be wary of booking with them as you may get burned like we did and without any info as to why. For all we know our reservation could have been sold to someone else
Worst experience in my life. Didnt even go on tour because of our driver. He was so rude. He said I am not rude I just have a strong personality. He didnt wear a mask and told customers that they didnt have to either.Would never recommend this busines to anyone. I cant even get anyone to call me back.
Hana, Waterfalls, Black Beach & TurtlesCompany: Maui Fantastic ToursThe tour guide (Oscar aka James Bond) and Owner of the Company was pleasant at the beginning of the trip and gave a history of Hawaii while we drove. He was very difficult to understand with his strong accent. The vehicle appeared to be a private vehicle, not a company vehicle. I could tell because the license plate was not commercial. Theres no signage on the vehicle. The what to expect guide online is NOT correct!Heres the Itinerary as I experienced it:Stop at Rainbow Trees: There is no trail to walk, just a 5 minute stop by the side of the road to take photos (Not the 30 minutes stated in the itinerary).Waikamoi Stream: (Note: We were given 30 minutes, not 1 hour as stated in the itinerary).Waianapanapa State Park: He pointed us in the direction of the beach and cave and told us he would be back for us in an hour. He said he had to go run an errand for another customer. We did not have the tour. (Note: We were only allowed 1 hour here, not the 3 hours given in the itinerary).Hana Bay: No choice on food truck. (Note: The itinerary said this would be a 1 hour stop, not 10 minutes taking food to go to eat in the vehicle).Red Sand Beach-Kaihalulu Beach: We never stopped. He said it was closed. He handed the woman the mixers for margaritas (and a dirty cup). Apparently, this was the complimentary drink.Hookipa Beach Park:. We stopped at the top most lookout about 75-100 yards from the beach. I wanted a picture of the turtles on the beach and asked if he could drive us closer to the parking near there. He said he couldnt because... something about commercial...that I didnt understand. Since we were scheduled to be there for 45 minutes, I told him I was going to walk down to the beach and take some photos. I was informed that I couldnt because we didnt have time. We had been there 5 minutes. He told me I needed to come back on my own. I was furious.I did take an extra day of my vacation to drive myself to Hana and see what I missed on this trip.I have done over 50 tours (I travel 1 month each year) in the last 5 years (although most have been overseas) and I have never had such a poor experience. It is the first time in my life (Im 50) that I did not tip a minimum of 20-25 percent. I did not tip at all. We returned to the drop off parking lot at 3:20 pm. He handed us each a calendar of Hawaii as we left. I honestly wanted nothing to remind me of that tour. I didnt let it effect my stay as everyone else I have met in this beautiful place has been friendly and happy. He owns the company so nothing can be done. I have a hard time believing that all of the rave reviews are real. Theres no verification process that the person who reviews takes the tour. I suspect 90 percent are fake. I cant image that I was the only one to experience the tour this way. After contacting Viator, I was given a partial refund.Im sure that the company will respond to this with how great they are. I wouldnt have taken the time to write all this if the trip wasnt just aweful. Im sure they will try to place the blame on me. If you believe them, well at least I warned others. I dont want to see anyone else go through this. The woman with me was going to ask for a refund as well. Just wanted to warn others. Its a lot of money to experience next to nothing. Go yourself or take a reputable company tour. Not just some guy with a car.
I cannot find a license for this company and the previous reviews about not following the itinerary are completely true. This is just a guy that has to dive to Hana so he tries to take people in his personal mini van. Do yourself a favor and drive yourself or go with a real tour company.
Oscar was great! He showed us many wonderful places we would never have found on our own. I would highly recommend his tour!
Great time on Road to Hana. We enjoyed all of the sights we saw. Thanks.
