Great gym! Coach Paul is very attentive and gives the students any help they might need. I got into the sport a couple of months ago and after trying out a couple gyms that didn’t work, (they just wanted money) this one was perfect. The rates here are VERY reasonable that you won’t find anywhere else, especially in this area. It’s nice to be in a place where the coach actually cares about your progress and not just about what’s in your wallet. The coaching and the training itself is very well throughout and the workout is just amazing. I’ve learned so much in the past couple of months I’ve been here and definitely plan to continue it. This is a real deal Muay Thai gym. When you’re here, you’re treated like an equal and get to work with some really great people.

No matter your background, shape, size, age, whatever... youll feel welcomed in this gym by the instructors and members alike.Ive been boxing on and off for over ten years now, and Ive trained in a number of gyms in Manhattan. Signing up for advanced classes might have been one of the best moves Ive made in my adult life. The main instructor/owner Paul is the real deal when it comes to martial arts. Hes got professional boxing, judo, and Muay Thai skills, and hes also very down to earth and helpful. The classes arent easy at all, and if youre up for putting in the work the coaches here can make you a legit fighter. When I signed up I was 20 pounds heavier, smoking, and could not run more than a mile. Six months later I am sparring 5 minute rounds no problem, running 3 miles regularly, quit smoking, and am looking to take my first amateur fight. The gym is really welcoming, and you absolutely get out what you put into your training here. No doubt youll get in better shape and learn some skills. If you push yourself Paul and co. can prepare you for amateur or professional fights. This place is worth it and in my opinion its the best place to train in the area.

I have been training at JCKB for over two years now. The best thing like about the gym is the flexibility of attending classes throughout the day seven days a week which is very important for a person with tight and ever-changing schedule. This gym has enough to offer to everyone, from professionals fighting in the ring to someone just trying to get in shape. You pretty much get a custom and personal attention based on your needs. The place is free of pomp & show and Head coach Paul & team has maintained an old school, amicable & family like environment where everyone feels connected, kudos for that !

This kickboxing gym has a community feel, where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.  When starting, its always a challenge to get into the new routine and it helps a lot to see other people being supportive at the gym.The coach always puts a lot of effort in making this a personalized experience to ensure that everyone receives the level of attention needed for their level of experience in kickboxing.Be ready to have lots of laughs, as joking is common in a tasteful matter, and the same time to train hard with motivation from the coach.I started this gym to release tension from work and to get in shape, kicking and punching some bags is perfect for that.  I found out theres more to it such as the warm-up exercises (so intense, that you wont have time to think about anything but getting it done), personalized technique, and motivation to succeed.I think anyone that would come to the gym, just by looking around would recognize this, and I encourage everyone to looking to get fit to come and visit.

I have been going for a little over a year now and I’ve loved every minute of it. The gym, the people, and the coaches have all become part of my life and I find myself missing all of it when I skip a day or a weekend!Over the last 5 months I changed my entire eating habit and kicked up the gym sessions to 6 days a week, all with Coach Paul’s guidance and assistant coaches Ralphy and Sosa. Happy to say I started at 169 and have just hit 149. So if you want to lose weight, get in shape and learn to defend yourself— Jersey City Muay Thai will turn into your second home.**providing update:All previously withstanding, mind your credit cards.I had no issue continuing payments— even through the covid 19 forced closures, as it was a contract. However, whomever controls payments (presumably head coach) should not be trusted. I was unfortunately charged again even after acknowledgment of my final payment, two months and then again one month prior to the final and yet, was not surprised to see another attempted charge post contractual obligations. At the end of the day, it is a small business. It’s just a disappointment when reflecting upon how the coach and the gym are presented as though they care.

Just wanted to share my experience at this amazing gym, I’ve been training for almost a year at different gym and I wanted to compete, but my ex coach used to tell me that I’m not ready and I needed more time,He never hold pads for me or train me one to one,He wanted me to hire him as a personal trainer if I wanted to get better on MT and get ready for the fight. I got tired of that and The money I was spending there without any outcome, so I stared looking for another gym and I found this place. Called and went in, it toke me just one hour to decide to join the gym, Paul the coach over there does not care about any money, meaning he doesn’t push student to hire him as a personal trainer to learn, he just teach u and spend time with u for free, and he always says it’s an art that I wanna pass over to my student, and they can pass it to others. That’s being a coach and real one. So glad i went there and I’m competing next month. I believe that’s the only gym on the area that gives women the same attention or probably more than they give it to man. Will not switch for nothing and planing on getting a tittle soon Cz all I need is my team and my coach to get it.

I joined jerseycitykickboxing when I turned 16 years old Im currently 21 and Im still attending the gym thats how great Coach Paul is. This is the only authentic Muay Thai gym I know of. Even though Ive been here for 5 years Paul is still able to teach me new moves and techniques. Also the atmosphere is great its literally like a family gym no one there judges or brings in any negativity. Plus its a good place to network since there are so many people in different fields of careers. In addition the workouts are hard but fun to do and coach Paul walks you through it. He demonstrates how to do a move and if your still struggling hell walk over and help you do it until you get it down. Theres even a teen and kids class that takes place at the gym. Theres nothing but positively and motivation here and Coach Paul helps everyone achieve their fitness goals, whilst learning how to defend yourself. Its honestly by far the best gym Ive ever joined, and I will continue my journey here for as long as I can.

As a single mother this gym means a lot to me when he started he went in with a bit of an anger issue and husky. He is now trim confident and content. For a teenage boy to want to keep a commitment even though it calls for a lot of hard work and training, means Paul must be doing something right. I joined the gym five months ago looking to become stronger, more fit, and perhaps capable of fighting off thugs on the street if it ever happens. 😂 I’m not athletic and don’t follow boxing/MMA, but I enjoy the training just as much. I think the most important reason is because its such a friendly place. Going to the gym is almost like going home -- You know almost everyones name and if theres an unfamiliar face, you introduce yourself and offer helps. If you got lazy and disappeared for too long, you get yelled at by the funny yet strict trainer Paul. And it doesnt nickel and dime you if you join Private Training sessions. (More than once Paul said to me no charge tonight because you are too rusty.)Classes usually start with 10-min skipping rope, 7-min strength building (crunches, squats, push-ups, etc.), and 3-min shadow boxing. Then you either practice hits/kicks on various bags in beginners class, or in advanced class, you pair up and rotate with someone comparable to practice all kinds of moves using mitts/pads. And then if you are ready or simply feel adventurous, just put on all the protective gears and spar away~~ 🥊As mentioned earlier, Im not athletic, so its taking me more time than other people to learn to jab or kick correctly. And itll take me even longer to become really strong to move with power. But these weaknesses dont frustrate me because Im having tons of fun and I know Im making progress, however slowly it is.Last but not least is about the location -- The building houses about a dozen of other fitness studios. For example, you can go yoga, ballet, or ballroom dancing after kickboxing. How more convenient can you ask for?! 💃🏻🥊💪🏻👊🏻

Everyone treats each other like family and it is a non judgmental environment. All of the coaches will make sure you get to where you want in terms of your intentions of the art! Paul is very engaging and is constantly pushing us to improve our technics. While is a group training, he pays attention to each individual and wants to make sure you are getting the most out of each session. He monitors our progress and knows when to push you to the next level. He also genuinely cares about the students. I have joined several gyms over the years, but this is the first time I have consistently gone to the gym for a year. I’ve had a positive experience training at the gym. I’m a professional working woman and wanted to stay in shape ( I used to have a normal gym membership and did different types of classes) but also wanted to be able to protect myself. Although this is a professional kickboxing gym they offer 40 classes a week for me to choose from 7 days a week and I only pay 115 a month. I’ve lost 10 lbs in a month. These classes are designed to teach and help people get in shape and actually learn real kickboxing/ boxing and Muay Thai. Every class I have two trainers holding mitts and pads pushing me. This is not a cardio gym that has 50 bags that all look the same with someone screaming at you in a microphone. The head coach makes sure the classes are not too full and limits class sizes to actually teach. He teaches all the classes with assistant coaches who are active fighters. They also have a weight room and all the cardio machines if you just feel like zoning out and hitting the treadmill...The gym has a local community feel, they don’t try and sell you t shirts, gloves etc... They have large Clean locker rooms with 4 showers and they are very clean. The classes are half men and women and I’ve never felt uncomfortable. Although 90% of the students don’t compete, we are always invited to watch as there is a fight team that competes in Friday Night fights and in NJ/ Pa. They even take students to Thailand once a year to train and compete. They let the gym be a open time in the mornings while the fighters train and it’s super motivating to watch them hit pads and spar and get ready. I love it!

The special thing about this gym is the community. Not only are the Coaches all fantastic, but the members are some of the nicest, more genuine people youll ever meet. Just like Jersey City, people are from all different walks-of-life. Surgeons, Lawyers, Fire fighters, Police officer, business owners - I have been punched in the face by all of them. Seriously, people are welcoming; you can ask all the questions you like and youll never, ever feel judged. On a less personal note, JCKB is a tremendous value. You do not pay per class. You have unlimited opportunities to train, as well as interact with coaches and professional fighters. This is not simply a cardio gym - I mean, there is intense cardio - but you wont be packed in with a host of other people and just expected to hit bags for an hour. You will actually learn about what youre doing so as to build an appreciation for it and prevent injury.JCKB has done a lot for me and I couldnt recommend it more.

Although I will not bad mouth Tae Kwon Do, I will say we are having a less costly better experience. She proved to have such talent. She enjoys it so much.Paul can tell you I am a fanatic on rules, self-confidence and being able to defend yourself. I feel my children receive all these skills at NJ Kickboxing. It is important to me for my children to always be respectful and I know for a fact Paul does not allow any disrespect in his gym and I, for one, truly appreciate that. I also love that my kids are not just students at another sport or activity. I can honestly see how much Paul cares about each and every one who attends the gym. He takes time to get to know his students. That is important and shows just how excellent his business skills are.My two little guys were having such an awesome time that my oldest Kayla who is 20 also started attending. She really enjoys it. Paul does help students get on track for working out but, at the same time, be prepared for phone calls on why you are not in class. That is a personal preference but, some people will like that. he stalks his clientele. I went to JC Kickbox for a year and it was a okay starter school to learning basic kickboxing. Paul is seasoned in Sanshou, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai but has questionable professional experience in Muay Thai(search him on google and you will see). For me, I wanted to learn the art and wanted to make sure I learned the aesthetics of Muay Thai which led me to gyms in nyc. I wanted to bring my training to the next level after watching fights in the local circuit(Madison Square Garden, Friday Night Fights, Victory MMA) which led to the departure of JC Kickbox. You will see JC Kickbox is not active or was ever active in the fighting circuit, at the same time it is what you are looking for. Are you looking for a cardio kickbox gym or are you looking to develop the art of muay thai? This is not for everyone but, at the same time you want to know you are backing what you say. these are all questions to ask. For me, it was convenient in JC, and the price wasnt bad for opening the doors to kickboxing. For me personally, i knew i wanted to train with experienced fighters and trainers so I left his gym to train in nyc which the price is similar or about $30-$40 in difference. It depends on what you want as an individual/budget and what your end goal is. I recommend trying out a few schools and see what fits you. Check out Friday Night Fights, Victory Sports, Warriors cup, etc for local fighters and gyms you can tryout to make an informed decision. Paul will say he has the best muay thai school around which is not true. In NJ you can checkout NJMT, Weapons 9, Renzo Gracies which all have good programs and in NY you have The Wat, Sitan, Square Circle, etc to name a few. I mean you go through a interview to take an advanced class by someone not even known in the local circuit. In this instance you do not pay for what you get as for the same price you can be trained by a world champion like coban. Make an informed decision before signing a year long contract.

Ive been here for a little over a year, and this is the best place Ive been to or seen in Hudson county and the places Ive been in the city for traditional Muay Thai.First off, I was looking for ONLY a traditional Muay Thai gym, which is rare to begin with (theres some western boxing here as well). Ive always wanted to learn something different, off the beaten path, and have been looking for a gym for years. Everyone now is riding the MMA wave, which is fine, but Im not into that. I went to a few Muay Thai gyms in NYC, but those were horribly overcrowded. The classes here are not crowded at all, with at max between 10-15 people and Paul is able to monitor each and every person, from the beginner class to the advanced class. Without me having to tell him, he noticed right off the bat that I had a martial arts background and was able to appropriately check in with my progress and help me translate it to a Muay Thai setting. Once you get into the intermediate and advanced levels, classes are even more personal and you really get to work on technique. This is a REAL gym, down to the real gloves that are recommended. No cheap Everlast gloves from Sports Authority in here. But its not intimidating at all. Everyone is welcomed and treated like family around here. And all the other trainers, from John, to Anna, and the whole staff, are more than capable teachersEven if youre only looking for a place to get into shape, Id still say this is better than a cardio kickboxing facility. Those places are mills too, just trying to jam in as many people as possible. Here, even in the beginner classes, youll still get pointers on form and technique from an actual fighter, something you wouldnt get at your run of the mill cardio kickboxing place. This was the ONLY place Ive been to where that happened from my very first class. Overall, Im probably in the best shape Ive been in years because of this place.
