Amazing! I took my old wedding ring in, chunked it on the counter and gave some vague description of what I wanted - and that is when Elizabeth stepped up. Do you like this - we can do this - or that - all fantastic ideas. A couple of weeks later I had drawings with options and with Elizabeth still guiding the way. Today I got my new necklace and earrings- one of a kind jewelry and more fabulous than I could have imagined. I don’t even live in Jacksonville now but traveled back to get this done because I’ve always been so pleased with Underwoods work and service. I could not be more pleased!

I hade 2 watches that needed the battery replacement the lady took them back to the guy and then he came out and said his tool wasn’t big enough to get the back off of my watches I thought I took my watches to the right place didn’t want a fly by nite jewelry repair to work on my watches but it seems that Underwood jewelry is not the right place seems to me if you are a jewelry store and repair place you could at least change a watch battery I think the guy just didn’t want to do it would probably rather sell a Rolex or something I don’t really know people but that would be quite enough for me to NOT go to underwood ever again just the way I feel about that .,,

Went in there with a watch I tried to resize myself and subsequently messed up. Robert helped me tremendously, he fixed it in about 10 minutes time and showed me how to resize it properly. I also perused the jewelry section and they have a wide array of all things. Great store!!

I visited Underwoods to have a new ring fitted for my “push present” at 9 months pregnant and also to look at some engagement rings for a friend. I worked with Melissa H. who was amazing! She wore a mask (this was during the height of COVID) and was patient with me as I looked at a number of rings (knowing that I wasn’t looking for myself) and discussing different styles and ideas based on my friend’s personality, work, and lifestyle. She also made sure my “push present” ring was perfect and worked with my husband to surprise me with it in the hospital after the birth of my baby when I thought it wouldn’t be ready. She went above and beyond in both cases and has earned a customer for life with me!!

Always a great place to shop, they have helped me find a few items over the years. I would like to find a black Rolex, just not sure I want to spend that much yet...lol

In 2009, my husband and I found this store as we were in to trade a few pieces. Now, in 2019, we are refurbishing the same. One treasured piece was my tennis team of 25 years - it was having trouble staying together. Elizabeth Berg our jeweler suggested a redesign. At first, my husbands feeling were hurt, but the two of them put it together and she of course took the lead and worked for a couple of days before she had it perfect. The 40 stones are now in a beautiful bangle bracelet. Its is lovely. Thank you Underwoods for your experience with people coaching and treating us with the exceptional opportunities for our aging pieces. We enjoyed shopping with Elizabeth shes a great associate to the future of your establishment. I recommend them to friends who have been just storing their own jewelry. I had the best experience! My grandmother had left me a beautiful ring and I have worn it for years in the original setting. I wanted to update it, but since it is so special to me, wanted to use as much of the original ring and stones as possible. Christa was wonderful! She helped me design a setting that was a perfect update, but also kept the original feeling of the ring, including using all the original stones. I couldn’t be happier with the result! I highly recommend Underwood’s and Christa for all your jewelry needs.

As a Jacksonville native I have always been familiar with Underwoods reputation as the best jewelry store in town, and when it came time to buy my engagement for my then girlfriend, I knew where I had to go. My experience was wonderful, as the salesperson who worked with me, Elizabeth, made the entire process easy. She was able to help me find the perfect ring to both amaze my girlfriend, as well as stay within my budget. I have since gone to Underwoods to purchase the wedding bands for my wife and I, and will certainly come back for any purchases in the future. With that said, I strongly encourage anyone in the market for an engagement ring (including clueless boyfriends like myself) to turn to Underwoods.

This happened long ago, but Im not holding in the unpleasant experience I had with this store anymore.Back in summer 2007, I came to this store newly engaged and wearing a solitaire asscher cut diamond ring needing resizing. The sales associate, a middle aged white gentleman took in my order. He took down my information and asked for an estimated value of the ring. I told him the value that my fiancé had told me.He looked incredulously at me and said:No it is not. Its not worth that much.As he bagged it up, without further inspection to see if my value was accurate, he took it away leaving me embarrassed. The most offensive part of this interaction is that the associates dismissal of my estimate insinuated that my fiancé had lied to me.I couldnt get out of the store fast enough. I even briefly doubted my fiancé and confronted him when I got home. He was able to show me G.I.A. records and receipts proving that my estimation was indeed accurate.I have thought about this experience many times over the years. Every time I passed an Underwood, my heart would ache recalling his statement about my engagement ring, something that holds incredible sentimental value.Ive chalked this up to just one more of those experiences where I was judged based on my physical attributes. (Remember, he never further examined my ring, so why else did he assume that I was not telling the truth?)With the current state of the world this has made me relive a lot of these unjust moments where I have been judged by others based on my physical characteristics. (And trust me as a minority woman working as a Software Engineer at IBM, Ive seen my fair share of peoples minds being blown when I tell them what I do for a living. I know when Im breaking someones mental model of a black woman.)Do what you want with this review.To Underwood dont feel like you have to reach out I wouldnt dream of coming back to your store. In fact, for the remainder of our residency in Jacksonville we only went to Fraziers, a store that never questioned our integrity.

Im the son of a small business owner so when it was time to go ring shopping i knew i wanted to stay local and Im so happy that I did. Did I get the cheapest price, no but I hoped I would get added value from shopping local. Not only did they treat me amazingly, when my fiance went in to get sized they treated her like a queen. And when the new sized ring didnt fit just right they made an appointment to fix it at no cost to us. Now thats added value. I wasnt expecting as much knowledge from their general staff but was really surprised that their staff is legitimately knowledgeable, as well. Unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience with both the Underwood’s in San Marco, as well as the Underwood’s in Avondale. I originally went into the store wanting to do a possible trade for my 0.60 carrot diamond earrings, for Roberto Coin diamond earrings at the same weight. Obviously, I went in knowing that if I wanted the Roberto Coin earrings, I would have to pay more. Going in, I left my earrings there for appraisal. The next day, I went back trying to find out what they are worth, as well as look at their inventory of Roberto Coin diamond stud earrings. Upon entering, I went in looking at the other earrings, still inquiring whether or not my earrings had been appraised. I was told that they had still not heard back about my earrings and that they had sent them to the San Marco store to get appraised, and they should be back with an answer by 3 p.m. at this time it was 1:30, so I decided to go have lunch. Once I came back, I still hadn’t received an answer, and they were trying to sell me on earrings that were 0.82 in size and not Roberto Coin, which I did not want. The story continued on, where finally I had to call today, once 2 days had passed with still no answer. I spoke to a woman who was quite rude on the phone, after 2 days had passed and I still hadn’t heard back about my earrings. It was very strange and made me uncomfortable that they had decided to transfer my earrings to another store without my knowledge. In the end, the lady I spoke to was very rude and said my earrings were only worth $300. It is not so much about the price, which upon going to other jewelers I know is very off, but the ridiculous run around I was sent into by this jewelry store. I would definitely steer clear of this company.

Its probably a good choice if you want something traditional and arent trying to get creative with your choices or the work you want to be done to something. A good choice if you picked something out online and know exactly what you want - not if you need guidance or someone to wow you with customer service or be genuinely interested in helping you pick the right wedding jewelry.CONS - The sales lady we had seemed inexperienced and treated us poorly (in my opinion). We came in today to buy wedding bands and had heard good things about Underwoods. I also wanted to get my grandmothers diamonds put in my existing engagement ring that my fiance had bought by a custom jeweler in Portland. She started by telling me my grandmothers rings diamonds were poor quality - not knowing that was hurtful, sentimental and not the point of having them put in the ring. My grandmother was the first person in our family to be able to afford a ring, so it had a lot of meaning to me.Then, she only showed me one wedding band, even after I asked if there were other options. She just didnt seem motivated to make a sale. When I asked for a similar band to my engagement ring - she said that mine only was round all the way around (rather than flat inside) because it was worn. I explained it was new and made that way. Another oddly (possibly unintentional) unprofessional comment. Finally, when we got to the mens wedding bands - she didnt even pull them out or ask him questions. She actually just told us to go online and look for them. They didnt even have a computer available so we could look at our options - just basically felt like we were brushed off.This wasnt the exciting trip to buy wedding bands you would think of - guess we didnt warrant great service since we didnt get the engagement ring there. I left feeling offended.

On Phone Spoke w/ Lady who Verified they appraised diominds aswell. & Once in Store The companys gentlemen offered me 500$... Today at this very minute Gold is 1250$ an ounce. 1 OUNCE Then he said he wouldnt even buy the diamonds just the Gold. Why Did I Waste My Gas/Time? What am I missing? & who can i go to for My Services???

Clayton Bromberg makes much of the desire to form a relationship with customers, built upon trust. Yet when my wifes diamond broke off the mounting that they sold me, I was treated like a street urchin. The woman who sold it to me was able to remember my name, and that I was a repeat customer. Yet she was absolutely powerless to assist me. A competitor down the street was able to repair their defective merchandise within 48 hours.I urge you to avoid this store. They charge too much to treat a customer that way.

This is the second time I have attempted service business with Underwoods. They have the worst attitude in the business.Specifically this time Michael or Mike as he goes by was unwilling to help me order a link for my Rolex watch. I told him what I would like and after three days he only presented me with a price of the incorrect link. He said he would check on price and availability. Never returned information back to me. I had to call him and he says to just get him a couple of hundred bucks deposit and hell see if they can order it. Told me Rolex didnt have a price on their website so they didnt know, well what good are you as an authorized dealer then? I asked why he hadnt called to check and he just told me had been pretty busy. Thats it. Also when on the phone prior with him, at around 4:00pm give or take a couple of minutes, he told me it just wouldnt be today when he got back to me as they were winding down/wrapping up for the day. They close at 5:30. Lazy! Glad I didnt hold my breath, because even three days later and he couldnt have his service department or himself make one phone call.Also when I asked for the link originally he questioned me as to how I knew Rolex even offered the link? Not in a curious tone either. Im a very familiar watch collector and a quick Google search can reveal this as well. I asked for no special treatment, only for someone to do their job and best to assist me in getting a link for my watch to fit correctly. Rolex has very specific channels to go through regarding things like this. I tried to play ball and go through Underwoods, but no I will not just give you hundreds of dollars over the phone and keep my fingers crossed you will order something that may or may not be correct, or might be available, and with no idea as to how much it cost. Ridiculous behavior and service from an associate representing Underwoods, Rolex, and an upscale luxury item and experience.Fail Underwoods! The only time I have even received half acceptable service is when I inquired about purchasing a Rolex. The service for some wedding gifts we received was poor along with glasses we ordered in the past and past timepiece service experience. Get over yourselves and Rolex, there are other watches, jewelry, and giftware out there of better quality, price, and service. No idea how Underwoods is still in business this long with this kind of service.BTW, Im sure Rolex will love to know how one of their customers was treated. Im glad none of the multiple Rolex we own came from your store.I hate to discredit a business and a family one at that, but too many times I have had poor experiences here. Others need to know to go elsewhere.
