Baileys Gym - Corporate / Atlantic Blvd We have been members for a year and a half and we will not be renewing our memberships here. Its sad that they take away options in the membership you are paying for, and not only do not substitute for what they take out, but replace it with something you have to pay even more for if you want to do it. We pay for a platinum membership with Atlantic Boulevard as our home gym. We chose this location as it was the closest, and that membership because I like the option of having the fitness and cycling classes. They took away all the classes at that location, and made a boxing room that you either have to upgrade to Platinum Plus or pay to use. We have been there a year and a half, we are not looking to get out of our membership, we asked to downgrade to the Basic Plus, because now that they have taken away the main reasons we chose Platinum, we are Basic Plus users paying a Platinum price. I understand the manager at Atlantics hands are tied by corporates decision to say Im sorry you feel that way, we will not downgrade or compensate in another form what you lost in that level and you can just travel to other locations to use their classes. Ummm Im sorry that is not the answer. We will not be renewing and letting others know so they can take into consideration these policies that are not fair. We will bring our business to a new gym at time of renewal.
I’ve worked out for about 1.5 years straight at this point, and I decided to upgrade to Bailey’s to “up” my workouts. The atmosphere is so different and encouraging, and the saunas aren’t bad either!Definitely enjoy the staff and equipment available while in the gym!
I made it clear when signing up with this location i was signing up for the childcare convenience as we lived minutes away . i chose a 2 year contract with this in mind. basically as soon as we joined covid shut childcare down forcing us to drive 20 minutes to another location which is a huge inconvenience with 3 kids . after being assured it would open after covid i just find out this location will not have daycare at all moving forward. after being patient for 1 and 1/2 years I am now stuck in a contract and theres nothing the manager can do.
Great equipment but super dirty place paper towels are consistently empty when you try to wipe down equipment
One of my most favorite gyms to workout. Always nice and clean.
Baileys gym is a family-owned gym started in 1981. This is the gym on Hodges and it has grown because they close the Atlantic Beach location. The Bailey Brothers do a fine job and putting enough equipment variety to keep everyone happy. My only comment is they can work on improving when things are broken. Up to about two years ago they were very responsive. I think its the responsibility of the general managers but they need to be more prompt and getting issues resolved. Other than that there equipment decent and the clientele is serious about fitness
Haven’t lived in florida for years or have gone to this gym in forever but somehow still receiving spam calls from them. So disappointed, please stop spamming people Baileys gym

We have been members for over 25 years, love Baileys Gym!
Their staff and members are wonderful. Sweat PT is hands down the best.
Very Upsetting experience trying to get a membership at Baileys Gym. I’m a college student with no income as of now, who pays for everything on his ow, off of savings over the years. When trying to negotiate a price that is competitive with LA Fitness. I was told sorry we can’t help you. You should go to LA. After this I asked what do you guys offer that LA doesn’t and as suspected their was no answer. I proceeded to tell them that LA has more location as your gym is only in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. I then told them I would pay up front all the money if they could give me a $5 monthly discount on the monthly dues because I couldn’t pay the price they were asking for. The response I get was sorry we can’t help you. LA would probably be a better fit. Terrible way to conduct business if you ask me. As a side note I did go to LA and what do you know they were willing to negotiate with me because they understood my situation. Baileys, learn how to do business!
I have never been treated so egregiously in my life, as I was at Bailey’s gym on Monument Road in Jacksonville FL. I am so disappointed in the company to have someone Like their current leader “managing” a customer-facing business. He was unprofessional, inappropriate, and abused his position of power to threaten a customer. I could not believe that not only was a front desk attendant, rude and disrespectful to me, but her manager was worse. I did not feel like a valued customer or person. I was threatened that I would have the police called on me, I was told that I could not be a guest, and I was treated very poorly.
GREAT, A GREAT GYM!
Baileys is a money hungry company that does not care for their customers. My daughter wanted to better herself and Baileys signed her up for a 2 year contract and did not make it clear there would be major fees to stop going there. On top of that I meet with a personal trainer and told them to just start out with 1 month of this service and I would pay for it but they signed her up for 6 months and would not cancel the service. Now she has been put in collections not once but twice and it is effecting her credit. BEWARE of their policies and read the fine print or it will cost you a lot of money and time if you do decide to cancel. Shame on you Baileys!!
Baileys Gym ....Best place in town. Great equipment and an all around awsome staff
I cant award five stars because, as a guest of a member, I can not speak to price or value. I can say the staff was friendly & helpful; the facilities are immaculate. We went on a Saturday afternoon & the equipment we wished to use was available.
One of the nicest Baileys locations!
If you sign up here cool the gym is great. Good luck trying to get them to approve your cancellation when you have to move 500 miles away.
This place is family owned and operated. The locations and facilities are wonderful, and the staff is always friendlu.
This gym is great for any fitness level. There are lots of locations and services offered so if youre serious about working out its easy to make it happen. I also use the Sweat PT program, I meet with a trainer who helps me reach my fitness goals and teaches me proper technique so coming in by myself isnt so overwhelming as it was when I first started l.
Always a good experience at the locations overall. They could improve the music playlist HERE especially since phone service tanks inside
I went to the kickboxing class on a Thursday at this gym and it was awesome! The instructor made me feel super comfortable and I got a really good workout out of it. I was sad that I was the only one there more people should really give it a try.
Visited from Arkansas while spending the weekend with my sister. The staff was so friendly and compd our second guest pass! The equipment, atmosphere and set up were great! Only thing missing is a track and a better/bigger area to do floor ab stuff, but we were able to get it done without any real trouble.
After being a member here for some time (and cancelling), I wouldnt recommend anyone to Baileys for their extremely vague cancellation policy and how this whole situation was handled. I went in to cancel my membership after having reached my 1 year mark to give my 30 days notice . Well, my billing date for the month had passed a few days prior. I was informed my cancellation wouldnt be effective until the month after next. That comes out to roughly a 60 day notice. Their membership agreement has one sentence about cancellation, If you do not wish for this membership agreement to renew, you must provide written notice (which I did) no less than 30 days prior to the DESIRED DAY OF CANCELLATION. Well if any logical person read this, they would think Desired Day of Cancellation, would be the day you want to cancel 30 days from now. Nope, this means you have to give 30 days notice before your bill date for it to be effective or you will have to wait an additional 30 days to cancel. Called the corporate office, they refused to do anything. If I had the money, time, and energy, I would bring a lawyer into this and I know I would win. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE BAILEYS. You should probably revisit your membership agreement.
My review is based on the professionalism of the group fitness program. It seems as though Baileys doesnt care what the members actually want to see on the group fitness schedule. Ive only been a member and instructor for about a year or so but have heard the way Baileys has changed over the years for the worse. The group fitness director also doesnt seem to care about the instructors. I understand the attrition must be high but for instructors like myself who have been cordial, never missed a class, never late and professional it very clear they just dont care. So much that giving a three weeks notice is not accepted they decide to make your resignation effective immediately not giving any students time to say goodbye. Just simply wrong and inconsiderate.
I come to this gym 6 days a week and have been for about 3 weeks. These guys are the best around. Always giving me great advice on supplements, encouraging me to push harder and even helping me on techniques when I didnt pay for a training session. Im not sure what the guy above me tried to sign up for but our membership was $5.00 down and $20.00 monthly with a $35.00 registration fee on the first billing cycle and it seems I joined the same time he was acquiring. Machines are great, locker rooms are clear and most of all the staff is 5 Stars.
This is the best gym in Jacksonville! Its clean and the staff are wonderful. The group fitness classes are so fun and motivating. I love the childrens play area and that I can grab a protein shake on my way out of the gym.
Very good gym so far. The staff is very friendly, the people dont talk to you or interrupt you too much, but are friendly and welcoming. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves and lifts things.I have read some of the horror stories on here about cancellation, but the staff has been nothing but helpful and accepting of me so far and I have had no problems that they havent been more than willing to help with.
Ive been actively visiting the gym for almost 2 weeks now. They have some great machines! I hate going to the gym, Id much rather walk around my neighborhood, but I dont feel judged or weird here. I am in LOVE with the Zumba classes. They offer a variety of classes, some which I dont think Im ready for yet.I rated 4 stars because while it is a great gym, not everyone wipes down their machines when theyre done.👎🏽
I love this Gym.
Ive heard horror stories about gyms refusing to work with members before in regards to cancelling their membership, but I never thought Id experience it first hand.I recently received a really good offer on a job that will require me to travel to various maintenance facilities to work for roughly 3 months at a time. This travel will require me to live out of a suitcase utilizing such programs as AirBnB for housing.Unfortunately, i made the mistake of enrolling into a 2 year membership with this gym prior to receiving my job offer. All they asked for me to cancel was proof of my moving and $50 for early cancellation. Easy right? Wrong.Ive given the corporate office multiple letters detailing my job requirements and contact information FROM my company. Rather than accept this as proof, or reach out to my company to verify, they have simply emailed me telling me its not enough and that I need to provide a utility bill or lease agreement as proof. Again, I will not be living in anything other than hotels and AirBnBs so this isnt plausible.I have sent multiple emails asking them to call me so we can discuss over the phone. Again, I have been ignored or just talked in circles via email.Did I mention I have 2 years remaining on contract at $30 a month for a membership I cant use?Do yourself a favor and stay clear of any contractual obligations to this company. Obviously, they care less about working out solutions and customer satisfaction than they do about taking your money.
James & Joe are awesome personal trainers. They keep you motivated and the best thing is finishing in the hydro massage chairs
Single floor layout, but I don’t feel cramped. Generally pretty clean and maintained. Staff not overly friendly but cordial.
Awesome gym and amazing staff! They make everyone feel welcome there! Great price for the premium membership!
Best gym in Jacksonville. Equipment is well maintained. The gym is always kept exceptionally clean. Staff is super friendly, as well as the clientele it attracts.
While the gym gave me a good impression - very clean, friendly staff - the concern I wanted to address is the Zumba classes. The Tuesday night @ 7 with Maria was EXCELLENT. However, when I went back on Thursday night @ 7 with another instructor, I was VERY disappointed. I felt like I was in a club - and I dont attend clubs! Inappropriate dance moves and everything but Zumba music. Please dont call it Zumba when it is not! Needless to say, I will not be renewing my membership with Baileys.
Great gym. Not too crowded
Do yourself a favor and do not sign a contract with this gym. I was a member at the Baileys Gym in Gainesville FL, so my review does not pertain to this physical location, but it does refer to the policies and the corporate entity that owns it. The staff that sign you up will not adequately or accurately explain the contract and give you false information. I was told that I could very easily exit my contract if I had medical reasons or if I moved more than 25 miles from a Baileys location. What they neglect to tell you is that the medical reasons that you must provide are some that have to persist for the entirety of your contract. So after a car accident that resulted in a misaligned spine and pelvis where I could not actively use the gym for months due to doctors orders I still had to pay for a membership since the doctor set my recovery time with PT within the time of my contract. Next they will gouge you for every fee if you move out of the area, $50 for a cancellation fee, $30 for the last month, an additional $30 when the initial notice you originally provided to staff at the gym was not recorded, and then another $30 when the documents you provide to prove you have moved are not sufficient. Corporate will return your calls days after you leave them messages, the managers will not be able to take your calls when you request to speak with them, and as a corporate entity they will do everything in their power to drive you for every last cent. I have been a member at gyms where equipment was not maintained to the degree of actual physical danger, I have been thrown from a treadmill due to a loose track belt, I have even been mildly electrocuted due to a short that was left damaged in a watering fountain, I would gladly go back to those gyms rather than set foot in a Baileys health and fitness again.
EXCELLENT, Just to cold inside. But thats just me.
Small but has what you need and awesome staff.
Clean facility, good staff, affordable cost
Great gym. Anything you need to work... They have the equipment. Can get busy after work.
A great place to grab a workout
Great work out!
Hands down the best gym in town. With multiple locations, 24 hour access, several classes and friendly, knowledgeable staff, you cant beat it.
Very great place
Best gym. Friendy and helpful staff. Atlantic blvd location is the best.
Good gym, can be busy at peak hours
I have had mixed experiences with my membership at Bailey’s Gym. I would NOT recommend someone starting a membership at this gym due to surprise fees and a rude corporate office.Overall, the gym is normally in good shape and clean but is exceedingly busy between 4:30-7 PM. Most of the equipment is new-er and the staff is friendly. There is almost always at least one or two machines that are not working or being repaired – but these repairs are completed weekly. The saunas at most locations tend to be dirtier than the rest of the gym. The staff and members are friendly, but the corporate office is rude, has poor communication, and is impersonal. Additionally, many of the staff do not sufficiently inform customers of their contractual obligations and may provide misleading information. My poor experience comes primarily from surprise fees. The initial sign-up fee was waived but I was not properly informed about the yearly fee (in addition to the monthly membership cost). My worst experience came when I had to cancel my membership due to relocation (within the contract). The staff member at the gym said I provided sufficient information for cancelation and I paid the $50.00 fee that is mentioned in the contract. I received a receipt for this transaction and was informed that I would be charged for the next month and then my account would terminate. I was disappointed that there was nothing the gym could do about the next month fee as I would already have relocated to a different state, but I understood that I did not provide the 30 days required to skip this payment.THE WORST: Bailey’s later sent me an e-mail saying this information was insufficient to cancel my agreement and that I would be charged the automatic payments until the end of my contract in January, 2018 (six months after I will have moved). Their reasoning was that the copy of the lease I provided did not have a signature from my landlord. In addition to providing a hard copy of my updated lease (with landlord signature), I sent the corporate office an e-mail version of my lease, a receipt from my new electrical company and hard copies to the corporate office via mail. To this date (July 25th, 2017), I have not heard back from Bailey’s corporate office. The communication of their corporate office is slow (five days to respond to an e-mail I provided) and impersonal. Because I have provided a copy of a countersigned lease (with both signatures) and a copy of my electrical bill, any future charges will have to be reported as fraud.Another poor experience came when the gym provided a personal trainer the private phone number of my significant other. The trainer sent texts and calls to her while she was working and harassed her when she was in the gym working out alone. She felt very awkward at the location this happened at and had to start going to a different baileys location. She did NOT give the gym permission to give out her contact information and had to have a manager tell the trainer to stop contacting her.Summary:The gym itself is nice with relatively good equipment and a friendly staff. The staff may not do a sufficient job at clarifying the contract during sign up, you may be surprised by fees, and the corporate office is terrible to deal with and will make you work hard to cancel your membership even if you are within your agreement. I would NOT recommend this gym to someone else and instead suggest going to LA Fitness – where I have had much better customer service and a cleaner, better gym.
Their corporate office who handles all payment inquiries/contract issues is horrible. There is literally 1 person there to answer phones if your lucky enough to get an answer, most the time its leave and msg and we wont call you back. I had a 2 yr contract and was using there service for 3 yrs, when I moved and tried to cancel my service they gave me this crazy run around that I had signed a 3 yr contract and basically wouldnt let me cancel. My gf also had issues with them and it took her 3 months to cancel her contract due to moving (they say u can cancel if you move greater then 50 miles which we did). They ended up charging her 3 extra months and sending her info to collections to scrounge up another $200 from her.Terrible.If i could give ZERO stars I would.
Canceled my membership 13 days after signing up (even though is says all over their building 20 dollars a month with no membership required.) these employees are paid on commission- so a lot of them tend to be dishonest. Ive heard numerous military guys say they have left on orders and they get back even after notifying this business that they are deployed they end up getting send to collections for over 500 dollars. This company does this so they can take advantage of you and sell your debt off to collectors for pennies on the dollar and receive massive tax write offs. After cancelation, this company sent me a bill for over 700 dollars. I canceled months prior to this, and was living in a different state. I sent numerous electric bills and pay stubs, saying I lived over 1500 miles away just a month after signing up, and somehow Im responsible for this insane amount of money after utilizing this gym for 10 days. These people are scammers-- a quick search on the BBB website will reveal that.
The group fitness classes here are terrible. The trainers are rude and degrading. This is like a run down golds gym
Nice, clean, affordable, not over crowded, even during peak hours.
Nice vibe as soon as I walk in there.
Great staff, super clean, parking, shopping near by, great equipment.
Went there right after they opened, they had no wifi and you get no service with ATT in the facility. The place is like a dark cave. Membership was $15 a month, and the staff had no clue what to do and how to speak to people. Just visited the second time this past week, they have wifi now, so I asked about membership pricing. I was told it was $22 a month and even a, high schooler could afford it in a condescending demeanor. Wtf? I called up there the following Monday to get clarification on pricing and I explained that the price went up and the girl stated that its always been that price and I must have went somewhere else. We argued this stupid fact til I said no thanks, Ill just keep my membership at my current gym. This place is trying to attract locals, but treats them like crap. Its not all that of a gym for $100 registration fee, and $20 a month or whatever it is... You can find more variety and better quality equipment locally for the same price and even cheaper without getting insulted! The review below this one just proves the inconsistency of this place and its employees.
BUYER BEWARE: I highly recommend looking at BBB reviews, this is not a coincidence. This sorry excuse for a company does NOT support military. I left for active duty orders for 8 months and was charged the entire time I was gone despite their contract freeze policy (which also sucks). I was told the only thing they could do for me was cancel my membership and that I had to call corporate because the managers at the gym are useless. When I called corporate the girl Hailey Chronister didnt even know the gyms policy on military leave and hung up on me and wrote in her notes on my account that I was cursing to cover herself from being disciplined for her unprofessional and disrespectful actions. When I followed up on the issue the corporate number conveniently stopped accepting my calls as if I had been blocked. And if it wasnt bad enough, when my girlfriend called to cancel her membership, not only did they ask for a 30 day notice on a month to month no contract membership, they also said she had to come in to cancel. How ironic is that, they cannot help you in the gym when it comes to billing but when it comes to cancelling all of a sudden you have to go in. I would recommend LA fitness if your also in the military which has a ZERO fee, no questions asked freeze policy and no annual equipment fees. Baileys Gym is a pathetic excuse for a properly run business.
Just had the same experience as the guy below me. Plus the staff were completely unprofessional and down right mean.
Open and spacious excellent customer service.
Clean, professional staff and not over crowded. Wish the one on Atlantic opened a little earlier on the weekend.
Very Good Gym, amazing machines and great locker rooms
GREAT OVERALL EXPERIENCE.
Huge Baileys. Love this location.
Great place, clean, friendly personal.
They charge you to cancel a non contract agreement paid month to month.
Ok didnt really like it,need more cleaning people
This gym is horrible. They take advantage of you when you try and cancel your membership even when its done within contract guidelines. They send you ONE email if payment issues occur and then send your information to collections. I dont understand how a company cant value their customers and contact them via phone or at least more than once if there is an issue.
Friendly staff.
Not enough of the right eqmt. Most people use frequently.
Read the reviews! Submitted a doctors note for medical cancellation and they are still charging me for two months after I requested cancellation. Customer service is RUDE and will ignore/not answer your questions and messages. Will not be returning
Awesome place for workouts!
Have been trying to cancel my membership since April 2017. Have mailed medical form out twice and am still being charged monthly seven months later. Staff keeps repeating the same thing. Mail us so we can cancel your membership.
Best local gym!
They do not care about you at all, only the money. Read all the other reviews. I am military and they are still trying to charge me when I have to PCS out of state. Shameful business.
Worst gym ever!! Horrible customer service!!!
