They work to get you working, as a true agency should. There are so many scams out there, but I can confidently say, the Helen Wells Agency is NOT one of them. Theyre an agency that you can trust! At first I was skeptical based on some of the reviews Ive read on here as well as horrible experiences Ive had in the past with other talent agencies. I wanted to be very careful not to be taken advantage of and to partner with an agency I could trust. After speaking to a few people who work with Helen Wells first hand, I decided to go ahead and submit an online application and Im glad I did. I am currently signed with Helen Wells, have been for a few months now and I have to say that they are very straight with you from the beginning about what they expect from their talent and what they have to offer. I have had no issues with communication and have had opportunities to work. Unlike a previous agency I signed with, Helen Wells has made me feel very comfortable and I look forward to growing my modeling career with this agency.

My daughter and I both have been signed with Helen Wells for almost a year now. Everyone at this agency is so friendly and eager to help all of the talent in anyway they can. They tell you from the start that one or two jobs a year are average. This helps to not get hopes up and it is the reality of the business that you may not get any jobs but audition for several. Within six months of being signed I completed two jobs and feel as though I was prepared and supported. Communication is big for any job and I feel as though they have done such a wonderful job with that. I have gotten responses back regarding a job for the next day even late into the evening. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about applying to apply with this company or even clients who are wanting to work with Helen Wells to give it a shot. I have met a lot of other talent and there are some really wonderful actors and models who are contracted with this company and everyone of them that I have worked alongside have been very professional and good at what they do!

I have been with the Helen Wells Agency for over 10 years. They are the most professional in the business, while also being friendly and courteous. They do not charge fees upfront, just ask that your pictures are taken by someone on their preferred list, so your photos are professionally done and you can book work. Each individual photographer has hair and make up artists they like to work with and can provide you with their info if you decide you need one. The agency can not accept everyone, if you are not accepted, keep on trying at other agencies, it is nothing personal and this business is all about hearing no many times, so if you cant accept this, it is the wrong business for you. The Helen Wells Agency has a diverse range of actors and models, all age ranges, colors, sizes, etc. You can see that plainly on their website. I am proud to be represented by an agency that is fair, honest and professional.

Ive been working with the agency in one form or another for over 8 years now, and have yet to see any other agency in the Midwest that even compares. They are like a family and go above and beyond for their talent and clients. They carry themselves with utmost professionalism and courtesy that you dont find with most agencies these days. Ive worked in the entertainment industry off and on for over 20 years, in major markets like NYC and L.A. Ive had my share of nightmare agents and managers who solicit empty promises, pay to plays, and lie about kickbacks from featuring photogs, coaches and CDs. Ive gone through it. I dont understand the few negative reviews Ive seen on here. Either its complete misunderstanding, lack of communication or possibly delusion on the part of wannabe talent thinking an agent will make them rich, famous and relevant and they dont need to put in much work. The truth is, HWA treated me with professionalism, respect and courtesy from the moment I walked through the door. No more, no less. Because entertainment is a business, and I so appreciated their respecting of that. They offered me an opportunity and a great example. Which is more than I got from so many agents in L.A. And btw, thats all they owe you. They get paid when you book work. They get you opportunities, but you better deliver. If youre an actor and not running your name and brand like a business, how can you even possibly complain or understand what an agency does behind the scenes? Ive had nothing but great experiences with them. Before youre qualified to give a review in THIS industry, maybe start asking the right questions. Like, do they communicate with me in a detailed, timely manner? YES. Do they submit me for the right projects based on what my collectively agreed upon type, niche or brand is? YES. Are they courteous, professional and respectful? YES. (This is HUGE, because if/when you make the jump to L.A., its quite the opposite- get ready) Do they coach you up and direct you on tape to pull the best out of you? YES. I wish I had a Dennis Erwin in L.A.! I wish I had an agent like Lori Fetter in L.A. who e-mails you back after auditions with encouragement, updates and pep talks. That NEVER happens in major markets, with major agencies. Youre one of thousands, on a roster, with a thumbnail photo. HWA and Lisa Burns leading the charge is LEGIT.Theyre family, and theyre an exceptionally creative, professional team that Im grateful to have on my side, especially because Ive been through the opposite. But dont waste their time. Do the work! Its so worth it.

I’m not sure what agency some of these folks are referring to in previous reviews, but The Helen Wells Agency definitely does not charge you to be a part of their team.The staff at Helen Wells has always been inviting and responsive and I would recommend working with them.

I went to an appointment here but didnt really feel comfortable with the process. All they talked about was if I intended to pay the entry fee and if I were ready to do so today. The other red flag is that I know 2 of the girls listed as available on their website and they havent lived in Indiana for over 10 years. I decided against getting involved. Its also way too much money.

My daughter recently had a few modeling jobs thanks to Helen Wells. All communication from the agency was prompt, precise and timely. Lauren did an excellent job in communicating all of the necessary details. She was positive and helpful in every way she could be. We were pleased through and through with the experiences from start to finish.

I called this agency to schedule an interview for my daughter and they treated me like I was a salesperson trying to get them to buy something. They kept telling me I needed to send her info on the website. If you dont want calls, dont answer the phone. I found another agency.

My problem with Helen Wells is the cost. They want you to go to one of their photographers only and between that cost, and the composite cards they wanted me to buy, I was going to be out about $1000. No way! I already have great pictures but they wouldnt use them. I wish they had been a little more upfront with how much it was going to cost.

I have worked in Los Angeles and Chicago and Helen Wells is the only agency in the region, that acts like the agencies in a bigger market. They are diverse roster and professionalism is unparalleled. The staff knows their stuff. I would recommend them to any one who is looking for a professional agency for both actor and models.

Their teenage snarky attitude in their responses in the reviews should be a good sign that this is not a good company.And yes, the statements of them charging $1000+ plus for using their and Only their photographer for head shots, is true.

Hard to figure out whats up at Helen Wells but things dont seem to be going well. IndyModels has taken over Indianapolis so they are now trying to be a Cincinnati & Louisville agency. Maybe if they had paid more attention to Indiana models & talent they wouldnt now be desperate to find a new home. I tried to get into Helen Wells but am now glad it didnt work out. It seems to be a sinking ship.

I’ve been with HWA for almost two years, and by far they are my favorite agency. They go above and beyond, and have treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism. Their work ethic, client base, and talent roster are amazing and they truly want to see their models and actors succeed. There is no fee to be represented by them either. Can’t say enough good things about HWA!

When Helen Wells says they dont charge....its not true! The marketing blitz when I went there should have been the 1st clue but I stayed long-enough to hear about the required photos. They want you to go to their preferred guy for poor-quality photos and....he charges you a small fortune! Guess who gets part of the money? Thats when I left. Then I went to another agency and learned about fake clients, fake models, fake relationships.....poor Helen must be doing back flips in her grave over what has become of her agency. Before you get involved with ANY agency, go to all of them and learn how they do business. Im really glad I did! I found a legitimate agency thats a much better fit for me.

There photography agent was unbelievably rude during the signing process.Glad I did not choose to sign with such a arrogant representative. They had no local choices for Muas and stylists in Louisville which they have a branch in also.I asked about recommending a few considering this is where I work and live for decades and was belittled by there agent in front of the other talent there to sign.I choose to definitely not sign! Im a grown adult and was told to hush like a child.IT was obviously because they had no options that was reputable in Louisville.They asked the talent to lie about experience.

I have been represented by Helen Wells for over 2 years now and the experience has been nothing short of AMAZING! They are an extension of family, the way they care for us. They have definitely set the bar for the professionalism and community that agencies should uphold. I plan to be a part of this family for many years to come!!

They of contacted me twice I finally took time to submit to them. I worked with Lisa who was fine with me submitting my current work. then when I say Im now intrested in having a new set of head shots done they are not intrested anymore. She gives me this long song and dance the photos were not for commercial work. Newsflash Lisa several were FROM commercial jobs. run fast its not legit to have pay for a new set of shots or for there string of nonsense. i had no issue signing other REPUTABLE agents glad I read these prior to getting sucked in and wasting my time!

Four reviews, all entered within 30 minutes of each other, telling how great you are. How stupid do you think we are? Why dont you do anything for models of color? I have a lot of potential.

Everyone was very friendly but it just all seemed a little too fake for me. My biggest concern was they wanted me to sign a contract that said I could only work for them. Exclusive contracts arent valid in Indiana, so you can always work for anyone you want. My other problem with them was the money.....why does it cost so much? I decided to pass and look elsewhere.

This agency is very political. I have submitted before, and each time rejected, even though Ive been with other top agencies and have gotten work. They have all types of models - all ages, sizes, looks. So, I thought that with my experience and acceptance with almost every agency that I apply to, Id have a chance. I just dont understand their process in model selection. I see models and think, if they were accepted, why wasnt I? I then realized from others whove had the unfortunate experience with dealing with Helen Wells that they are very snooty, political and generic. Ironically, I was just contacted by Maxium magazine who found me on Instagram to enter their cover contest. Helen Wells, its not me - its you.

Theyre a great team; warm, professional, and they know the business. Ms. Wells would be proud.

Hellen Wells does not promote or accept any kind of different ethnicities. They say they are looking for a different look but yet all their models look the exact same and they are all white people.

I was shocked when I learned that most of the job ads that Helen Wells posts on IG, FB, and other places, are fake. They make it look like they worked for Company A but, in reality, Company A has never heard of them! They create fake ads for their own marketing and the models dont make a dime. This is really dishonest and Im glad I found out before I made a mistake. Do your own homework before getting involved.

The Helen Wells Agency is hands down the best I the industry. I have been modeling professionally, full- time for 4 years. Under their representation I have won an Emmy Award for a PSA that aired regionally in the MidWest. I have also booked Mational commercials that still air to this day. They EVEN WENT to bat for me with a client that had administrative issues when it came to pay. Mind you, ALL CLIENTS HAVE PAID ME ON TIME and this one was a one time thing but the accountant at Helen Wells went so far as to seek legal aid to get us paid and he did. I have never seen an agency in all my days of professional modeling take care of their talent the way Helen Wells does. The agency even offered to give me my wedding for free. Now that’s family! Outside of my own personal expierence with them I can say, I know so many of the talent signed with this agency and they all can say the same. HWA gets it right every time and fortunately they are selective. They don’t just sign anyone and some may not like their decision not to sign them as it may feel like personal rejection. But I am signed internationally in South Africa and abroad in Chicago as well. And even those agencies rejected me at one point in my professional career. The bottom line was I neeeded more development. So I never went back on the internet to bash those agencies. Instead, I went back to the drawing board, perfected my diet, exercise, and acting skills. I studied improv at The Second City and I took my goals seriously. Later I went back and re-submitted and they signed me! I share this to say .... future talent, consider they review you read as personal experiences and consider the source of each comment. Did this person submit and get rejected and does their response feel plagued by bitterness? If you sense that then I suggest submitting for yourself and finding out on your own.Also, as an international model I will say this one last thing. EVERYTHING HELEN WELLS DOES IS INDUSTRY STANDARD.
