DO NOT tell them that this is insurance work, they will rush in and get started quickly without communicating the cost, afterwards they will pad the bill like crazy. We had over $1k in COVID related charges... We were able to negotiate some of those charges off, but not all. Even with the COVID charges taken off it was still $1k more than our insurance adjuster estimated. We were in a bad spot and a bit naive (should have pushed back on the bill the insurance paperwork and got solid numbers out of them), thought they were being helpful and quick, but we felt taken advantage of at the end of it.
Midwest Remediation was recommended to me by the plumber I had called regarding a smell we had coming from the crawlspace. From the initial phone call I made a week ago up to signing the work completion papers this morning, every single person I dealt with at this company was friendly, professional, and did what they said they were going to do. I will definitely use them again if the need arises.
Our company office experienced a sudden flood and I immediately called Midwest Remediation. I called them at the end of the work day and they were out here within 30 minutes. Since they got here so quickly they were able to stop the spread of the water which led to less of the office being damaged, timing is extremely important in water loss situations. They took care of all the water clean up, carefully removed all carpet, mats, and equipment that were wet from the flood. They sanitized all materials and equipment and set them out to dry away from the flooded area. Austin, James, and Conner did an excellent job at being quick and thorough. They set up a containment and made sure to explain the whole process to us prior to do anything to the office area. Communication and quality work was done on the project. Each day they came back to check progress and give us updates. After the water was cleaned up and the area was fully dried they put everything back and it looks as if nothing ever happened. We know if anything else like this were to happen, we will be calling Midwest Remediation.
Water damage part was handled professionally except for throwing out custom cabinet they said theyd save to rebuild. When crew came to restore bathroom and utility room they were clueless about cabinet as it was lost. They werent helpful in choosing new cabinet to match space. Project manager very unresponsive. Then when toilet install had leaks etc it took 3 tries to fix with severe unresponsive again while toilet is more like a rocking chair. Still awaiting callback to fix 3rd time and again Im at the end of day two with no response. Will never use again.
Waaaaaay overkill on the demo on my minor water damage. Came in tore the hell out of my home for which seems to be no other reason than to charge my insurance company more money. Broke the drain on my a/c system moving my washer/dryer, and then didnt realize that was the reason that the water wasnt actually drying. Some guy Austin was from what my wife said VERY rude to her when they came to pick up their equipment. Then told me they were 8 weeks out on their construction crew. Didnt even offer to put me on the schedule. Basically said efff you, good luck. Thanks for leaving me with a bigger mess then I started with. I wish my insurance company never recommended me to these people.
Originally when we called Midwest they were very responsive and friendly. However, once we got the quote back it was significantly higher than any other quotes we had received. When asking for an explanation as to why this was, they stopped calling us back. We attempted to reach them over a dozen times and each time we would get a voicemail or someone would tell us we would get a call back later that day. It was very unprofessional and disappointing that after a month of contacting them we never got a call back. We were not impressed at all and would not recommend then.
Here is a note I sent to the Midwest Remediation and Indiana Contents Restoration Teams on the 2nd Anniversary of a catastrophic water loss of a 300k SF class A commercial office building w/medical clinic space near downtown Indianapolis:I cannot thank you enough for your help and support during the singular most traumatic work event of my career (to date!).Your expertise and calm competence was the game changer for us all. The ability to step in- and step up - to mobilize the equipment and staff the way you did was spectacular to see. It allowed us to reoccupy the building with nearly 1500 workers within ~6 months, despite hurricanes affecting carpet manufacturing, and Chinese trade tariffs delaying our orders, not to mention the 30k gallons of water that poured out in the middle of the top floor...You guys were incredible and the Board Up RV (my office!) was invaluable at that moment, as well.Since then we’ve had the pleasure of tackling a few more leaks together, though none as overwhelming as this experience, and I’m confident we’ll continue to do so for years to come.In a high-stress, high-needs crisis situation such as this, It’s as much about the work, as it is about our relationships and I’ll forever hold you all in my heart as comrades in arms after that experience.Thank you to each of you for your role in the remediation and reconstruction from the catastrophic water loss at the (building name here) two years ago today.
I HIGHLY WARN you to never use Midwest Remediation for anything. This company is not organized and after you attempt to establish communication and understand how this company operates and the expectations of how they will be conducting the work, they still do not offer clear communication and understanding. They pretend to operate at a level of a renovation department, although, they use the word rebuild. I can confidently say that they dont even deserve to be labeled as that - rebuild department. They do not know how to coordinate workers. They are not skilled whatsoever in any type of rebuild. I highly doubt that any of its actual contractors are licensed or bonded, let alone of any of the workers they hire to complete segments of your job. I have never seen a group of individuals more irresponsible and aloof and working on a standard that the client should ever believe this level of work and service is normal and acceptable. This company contracts poorly rated and inexperienced workers for your rebuild. The in-house contractor does not, I repeat, does not review work performed on your site. The individuals that they contract I HIGHLY suggest that you find someone else all together to do remediation and most definitely do your rebuild. If you are expecting them to at least organize themselves in order to properly schedule workers to complete the relative segments of your rebuild, they will not. They fly by the seat of their pants, they are not organize, they waste your time, and also do not ever provide you with a projected completion date. These people waste your time and do not care in doing a job well done. If you proceed in hiring Midwest Remediation be very prepared to take lots and lots of pictures and documentation and also communicate with them in writing. You may also need an attorney. They are so slow in getting anything done. I actually had work done on a utility closet that was less than 20 square feet and a bathroom adjacent that was 35 square feet of work and still could not given me a projected completion date. I had no electrical, plumbing or structure issues. I was not doing any kind of remodeling, I was purchasing the materials and they were putting everything back and it seemed so difficult for them to even do this task. You WILL waste a lot of time with these people and money.Once my utility closet dry wall was completed, they told me to that I can have my plumber put my water heater and washer/dryer back and they hadnt done the floor board that was there previous to the remediation. They had the dry waller (again, not someone in-house) covered the dryer vent and when I had my plumber install the water heater their (plumber - also not in-house) had the valves one and it sprayed and flooded the work area still pending to be completed. I am very confident that the contractor is not a contractor whatsoever. They didnt start on the work on the upstairs bathroom and painted the bathroom FIRST. Who paints the bathroom before they do any work when that should be the last thing they should do once all the work is completed?I am still in the thick of it and if they do not fix the areas of their negligence, I may have to take them to small claims court. They are a highly gross and negligent company and unorganized and will waste your time and if your are not diligent will waste your money. You have been warned!!
Wow. Talk about exceeding expectations. We developed a water leak in the ceiling of our finished basement. Water stains appeared and dripping began. The house is only 4 years old so we didnt expect this! We called our plumber, Thornton Plumbing for help. They came out immediately and advised calling in Midwest Restoration. We did. Jason Skaggs came out almost immediately to assess the situation with his high-tech water detection device. He called in his demo team to remove the drywall in the ceiling so we could pinpoint the location of the leak. Christopher & Roberto came out this morning at the exact time they said they would be here. They even called first to make sure we knew they were coming. They showed up with face masks and shoe covers, came in and went to work after a professional and kind greeting and words of comfort about what they were about to do. They removed 6 large yard bags of drywall and didnt make a mess! They laid out plastic in a giant area and hung more plastic to protect adjoining rooms. They covered our furniture. They even vacuumed up the drywall dust as they were making their cuts. They neatly exposed the plumbing, wiring, and HVAC without breaking anything or cutting through electrical wires, pipes, etc. They exceeded the high expectations that my wife and I live by. They set dehumidifiers and other drying equipment in place and left with the promise to return to check the status of the drying process. Nice job Midwest Remediation!
Never done business with them but I was almost ran off the road by one of their trucks. If youre going to drive like an idiot, might not want to do it in the company truck with your business plastered all over the side.
Ben came over looked at job from high pressure water damage. I started by showing him leak under sink that was caused by water pressure disconnecting the line to the ice maker.. the damage went from there to furnace room water softener etc. MY deductible was $ 1,000.00. He didnt wait that long to come over and get the $ 1,000.00. I mentioned again the filter and line under sink needed repaired. They never fixed it. P...ed off. Today I found the new plumbing leaking on the new floor they installed !!
The service I received initially was good. The service people (3 diff crews) were all on time and professional. I was told that they would deal directly with my insurance carrier to handle the claim. Apparently this was not done and the next encounter was with a woman from accounts receivable with a back handed threat to turn the account over to collection. I never received a bill and assumed it was being handled as I was told, directly through insurance. I told the woman I would contact the ins company and would let her know what was going on. She called the next day with the same threat of collection and followed it up with a threatening email. When I asked her for her supervisors name and number I was told that that would not be necessary. I asked again and she refused. I would like to inform the management of this company how I was treated but have not been afforded the opportunity.
I had a leak somewhere on the second floor. The plumbing company asked if they could share my contact info with Midwest since there was resulting drywall damage. Here’s the bottom line: they sell you on a great plan, but once they are in and set up you’re at their mercy, and that’s when they leave you hanging. They take forever so they can rack up unnecessary charges and they don’t return calls. Look somewhere else for your needs. The sales person came out quickly and sold us a line that sounded great. They had folks out Monday to begin. When they came to install the drying equipment I explained that there was moving parts and needed them to work on things that weren’t effected by the water but were part of the job. They said no problem. Then radio silence for days.Oh, and no one would tell me how much the work would cost. I was told that “it’s complicated” but that my “insurance would handle it.” Huh...Everyone who came (three different groups) diagnosed the problem differently. Throughout the process, explaining why things had to stay longer. They use lots of equipment and gadgets and pretend those things define the problem, so it seems technical and informed. If that’s so then why does the diagnosis keep changing? After a manager finally told me (through a customer service person) all the stuff that they wouldn’t do (like put the washing machine back in place) I told them to take their equipment my and leave.
I am in the plumbing industry and have dealt with many restoration companies, I will never call anyone else besides Midwest remediation, hands down the absolute most professional, ethical and best restoration company out there. If you call anyone else you are definitely making a mistake.
THANK YOU CHRIS AND TEAM!MWR was a referral from my holistic Dr that was initiated from a concerning blood test result - a probable mold reaction. From beginning to end I rate MWR a 5.Chris thoroughy inspected area and provided recommendation.Estimate and payment process was professional with personal communication. The TEAM was professional, knowledgeable, punctual, polite and very pleasant!Sure enough, there was hidden mold!Work was done efficiently and safely removing mold, treating and cleaning entire basement.Chris was available to his team and followed up with personal management review. Prompt removal of equipment after passing air test.GREAT TEAM - highly recommend!
These people are so nice to work with. They came out on a Sunday night to access my problem, and actually fixed it. They did friendly and courteous follow up, and are just a joy to deal with.
Midwest repaired water damage from a leak in our house. We had some communication issues with their tech resulting in confusion and delays, but these things happen and Doran was great to work with through the issues. He was extremely detailed in his communication fixing the issue and was able to finish the job.
I had a great experience with Austin. When he was no longer my contact things went down hill fast. No communication about when several different strangers entered my home. I got no notice after Austin was off my job. Then I found a large picture with broken glass, it was not reported to the office until I brought it to their attention. I found a large chunk of solid wood off one of my chairs and the piece broken off was placed on my kitchen counter. Their representatives clearly knew they broke my stuff and did not care and did not report it to anyone. The workers unplugged several bed bath & beyond plug ins. They leaked all over my floors, tables etc.the company suggested fixing things. No when you break stuff you replace it! If you think you can fix it why not glue all the broken glass back together???Completely irresponsible company to do business eith in my opinion. I’ll be calling the plumbing company that referred me to them to let them know this is not be the company they should be referring business to in the future.Take responsibility for your employees actions!**** I just spoke to my insurance adjuster and told him about my experience. I also told him several times your employees came into my home eith ZERO notice. He agreed as did Jennifer (your employee) that I should have been given notice when you come in/out of my home. My adjuster also said I’m not surprised I’ve heard that about Midwest remediation before, outrageous!!!I have plenty more pictures. Some representation of the damage you did when you were suppose to be fixing things, not destroying them. This company has yet to reply to emails, phone calls, certified mail. Literally ZERO REPLY!I recommend letting your property rot before using this company! In my opinion they are irresponsible, immoral, unethical and as far as I can tell have employees willing to lie about what happens in a home when they are in it.I understand accidents happened but no one addressed any of the proportions destroyed in my home. If they had come to me and said this happened, and tried to make it right, I would have understood. However, nothing close to that happened!OUTRAGEOUS!!!!
This company is great and that is all I can say.
Love working with Midwest; their staff is knowledgeable and professional.
James and Shaun did a wonderful job! They were both kind, professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company and their work.Update to this review — the workers were great, the owners, not so much. I paid half of my estimate up front and the other half based on what workers said the cost would be - the low bid - at the completion of the job. James said the work he had to do was minimal, so I only owed the low bid amount. Now, the company is sending me past due notices saying I owe $250 more — calls are threatening to send to collection and yet, I’ve never received a detailed billing or call back by the decision makers when I’ve called and repeatedly left messages and am transferred to various people in the office. If you plan on paying out of pocket for any of their work, be prepared for a shake down. I am sure insurance companies are not treated in this manner. Buyer beware — workers are great, owners are NOT!
12/6/2019Average clean up of solid sewage leak within crawlspace. We cleaned up the liquid ourselves prior to service call. The only reason we hired out was we didn’t want to do the rest ourselves and wanted the antimicrobial protection.Overcharged from estimate even though less work done than what was estimated.HORRIBLE customer service and no follow-through. The only consistent communication is them trying to have the bill paid. Have submitted complaint with BBB. Will NEVER have their services again. Contracted out through another company ACME that was called.Mitigation manager is title only.
Billy and the entire team at Midwest Remediation was amazing!Fixed all the water problems in my basement, and it looks better than ever. Most importantly, they were there with me every step of the way so that I didnt stress out about the issues with getting insurance to approve it all.Highly recommend these guys if you want your mess to vanish without a trace!
Bad business all around..I agree with all the bad reviews..horrible.. Not recommend
These people are amazing! They know just what to do and I completely trust them. They really do things better than everyone else.
We have used Midwest Restoration for several projects. They do an outstanding job! Josh is the most responsive GC I have ever worked with. They did a couple of small projects as well as an entire bathroom addition. They were easy to work with and their crew was great with our young boys.
I have a very mixed review of my experience with Midwest Remediation. Great communication and service for the damage repair. Terrible communication and follow up with the home office regarding payment. They came quickly and helped us dry out an under the kitchen sink water leak that damaged our cabinets on the main floor and the basement ceiling and walls below it. I liked the guy who came out and managed that process. The subcontractor they sent after everything was dry was very slow in getting us a bid and didn’t sound like he was going to begin anytime soon. Two weeks later (now 3 weeks from the damage) I was still without a kitchen sink or dishwasher. Luckily I found a local guy to do the repairs immediately. When he started, he discovered that a panel for the sink cabinet was missing. We texted our original guy to say we’d like to be reimbursed for the cost to create a new one. No answer.About a month later I received a call saying we were overdue paying our Midwest bill. When I said I hadn’t received a bill, the woman said it had come via email. While still speaking with her I searched my email and discovered I had received the bill- TWO HOURS BEFORE HER CALL!! I told her so.She said to send her a bill for the panel replacements. I did. I also told her we weren’t filing an insurance claim and had been approved to extend our home equity loan to cover the cost. We were just waiting for blank checks to arrive and would pay them. The next week she replied saying they would reimburse me for the panels after I paid my bill. Two weeks later I received two calls in one day saying a lien would be issued against my house if I didn’t pay IMMEDIATELY since I was so over due.I tried to call and calmly explain the situation. I said I felt they had a mixup at the office. I had only had my bill for two weeks and I felt they were being too aggressive. I sent my check that day.I received an email saying that they had “corrected their internal issue.” But no apology, no explanation. I did also later get a check reimbursing me for the sink panels.Their aggressive calls were offensive to me and really turned me off. I would probably not turn to them in the future.
Follow up: they responded to this post saying they would follow up with me and I still have not heard from them. I called them on June 3rd. A rep named dorn called me on the same day. an agent who checked for moisture and was supposed to have someone follow up came the following day. Still nothing...They never followed up with us. They sent a guy out to give an estimate but all he did was check for moisture after I told him it was already dry. Said he would have someone contact us for an estimate and we havent heard from them since.
I had a water disaster in my home and these guys responded quickly, saved ALL my building materials ie. carpet, pad, woodwork, and reinstalled said material and the disaster was as if nothing happened. Excellency at its finest.
I would never recommend this company. Our items were boxed up and returned untouched. They were suppose to be cleaned for smoke. Again most boxed items were NEVER CLEANED.We had a hand written list of our items that was just hand written and very hard to read. Some items never came back. There are plenty of good companies that are honest and reliable that I have used in the past for a previous house flood. These guys are just scamming the insurance company. Use the Restoration company that you here on the radio. The one the Colts use!
Worked with Midwest on numerous occasions and always received very professional Techs and workmanship.
I have always received great service!!!
Great people, who provide a great service.
Project manager had poor communication skills, unorganized, and was overwhelmed with the rebuild.
Great people
We had them come out for an estimate and the guy wouldnt actually give me an estimate and just kept telling me to make a claim with my insurance. But my husband and I didnt want to do that just yet because depending on cost w were going to pay out of pocket so our insurance wouldnt go up each month. So we nagged them about getting an estimate to us with actual cost of thing. They put us off for like a week and every time we got in touch with them they basically told up we could always go somewhere else. I got the idea theyre just in it for the money and they dont actually work with the customer....
