Previous homeowners had new roof installed improperly, which causes some rotting to a soffit & gutter board on one side of the house. We had multiple companies out to give estimates on the repair, a couple that were dishonest about the amount of work that would need done to make the repairs. I am so grateful for the honesty, integrity, and professionalism of the Michaelis team. They were able to complete our repairs within just a couple weeks of getting our quote, and did a great job. And the price of repairs was extremely reasonable. Would absolutely recommend this company.

I called Michaelis to have a load-bearing beam installed. Rick Michaelis came out to do the initial estimate. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Once the work began David Doyle was my project manager. He and his team went above and beyond to ensure everything was installed properly and that I was satisfied with the end results! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing assistance in the future.

The guy who came out was really nice. I rather not display his name, but he was agitated with me because I wouldnt share my insurance info with him. I had a feeling he wasnt going to send me an estimate. Before he left the guy was like Im going to send you the estimate after I compile it to your email. Im like ok. He never did. I waited a few days and text him about it and dude was like you should go with some other company because we arent a cheap company. I hit him back with wow! Good day! He had the nerve to say you too and take care. I laughed to myself and kept it moving.

Michaelis replaced an existing window with a sliding door for us. When they came to give the estimate we talked in detail about the kind of door and the placement of the door. When the project manager came to view the area we were told that we would need to pay a significant amount more than the estimate because it was a different door than specified. We went ahead with the project and when they came to take the brick off the house the placement was not quite correct. They made it right the day they placed the door. They had to move duct work and where the register went up the wall originally, there was quite a gap in the floor (I could fit my hand in it) along the doorframe. When I asked that it be fixed, they did. After the project was complete I had to ask for someone to return to take orange stickers off the white exterior of the door because I could not access them. They were very prompt in sending someone (within 10 minutes of my request). After painting the drywall they replaced, I am not 100% satisfied with the craftsmanship. I did not address it with Michaelis, as it is painted, shelves are hung back up and the dust has been cleared. I was very pleased with the promptness, professionalism, and responsiveness of our project manager and the crew. We will use Michaelis again with better oversight and specifics in the future.

This company has some of the best tradespeople in Indianapolis. They may be a little pricier than some others, but they add the right level of overhead and project management, with top-quality tradespeople, so the work is not only done right, but the attention to detail is wonderful, cleanliness attended to, with consideration for this being your home and not just a job site.We moved into our most recent home last year, built 130 years ago, and its needed some serious attention, so weve had Michaelis out multiple times for very different projects.We had water damage that affected roofing, exterior decking, siding, and two stories of interior. Weve also renovated a room with an original fireplace in it. Roofing work. Siding. We call Michaelis every time. As a homeowner of several houses over the last 15 years, I havent come across a more reliable, professional group of people. I would recommend them to anyone.

I had a soaked basement on a Friday night. The people I talked to and worked with were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. They answered all my questions, helped me out quickly, and followed up.

Michealis company, especially our rep Bill, were very professional, communicative, and reasonable. Our particular project required multiple estimates and visits to the site. Bill helped make a hard project easier!

This company was referred by my realtor when my husband and I were in the process of selling our house. The company gave us a quote of $10,000. I contacted our homeowners insurance to see what would be covered. The quote was given to them and then a breakdown of the charges were requested. The company took a month to get us what we needed. However, we closed on the home and they were paid from our payout so there was no rush for them providing us with the information we needed. I had to keep calling and texting them. I even went as far as to get my realtor involved who had a professional relationship with them. We were told by our realtor that this had never happened to them before and they were unsure why it was so hard for us to obtain the requested information.

Update 31July: I just received word that we can meet on Monday to discuss. Hoping amount was sent in error.PaulaI had Michaelis come out when my sewer overflowed in basement on a Sunday in June. I have a drain in basement that connects to the sewer. It backed up due to new roots in the line. The sewer water was clear for 11 hrs until the very end when I noticed food particles.When a crew initially came to the house I asked for an estimate on how much it would cost for them to pump out the water to the back yard before they started and while they were setting up. Since it was the weekend they had to escalate to a manager for a quote. I was told about $500.00. I also asked if this happened again would it be better if I bought my own sump pump and they said yes to save money I should buy my own the next time. Since the company came and left the pump I did anticipate the cost might be higher but not this higher.I received the bill Exactly one month later (Today) and the Bill was for approx $2400.The pump they used was here at house for 16 hours. I called for their assistance on a Sunday at 8pm they picked up at noon the next day. I would have been happy to return at 8am.The lady on the phone said this was a normal price and typically we negotiate with the homeowners insurance. I didn’t even consider insurance as I have a high deductible.

Heard about this company multiple times through the radio. Had them do some crawlspace repair late last 2019. The project manager was great and Jody, the carpenter that was doing the work, was so amazing and beyond polite! Fast-forward to a few months ago. I had work done again when my dishwasher leaked across my entire kitchen. I decided to use Michaelis again and a different employee showed up and tried to explain the process and then sat outside in his truck while some guys who didnt speak English well removed the floor and left a few fans. Now we are selling the house with a buyer lined up and their inspector said that theres water damages to the kitchen and the hallway and the bathroom. Theres mold in the same areas from the crawl space. Very disappointing

Can not say enough good things about Michaelis. We had a water leak in our house. They came right away after I fired the first company for not doing the work correct. They will do exactly what they say on time, correct and VERY professional. We worked with James Porter. He made the entire process smooth. He dealt with out insurance co. & took the stress off us. He went ABOVE & BEYOND his job to make the process efficient for us. Amazing company and people. We are located in Zionsville.

We attempted to utilize Michaelis after being told how wonderful their work was. Unfortunately, this has not proven to be the case. We called this company after purchasing our home, and no one showed up to begin the estimate process for two weeks after our initial call. Once that visit was over, it took two more weeks and further prodding to receive an initial estimate, which was far beyond what would be considered a reasonable cost for the project.They are very slow to respond, do not listen when customers indicate specific details or changes to be made, and vastly overprice their work.We have numerous repairs to be made on our home but will never hire Michaelis for this work. There are other contractors who are professional, responsive, and do quality work that we can use instead.

Michaelis Corporation is by far the most professional, honest and expert roofing company out there. We had been told by several contractors we needed a new roof and received quotes between $15- 20K. Michaelis came out inspected both the inside (via the attack) and exterior and let us know that we were in great shape - no new roof needed. Theyve provided foundation repair for us in the past and corrected the problem in one single project. Cant say enough great things about Michaelis. For Roofing, water restoration and foundation work they are the only company in Indy Ill do business with!

They came and fixed my sister in-laws home after water flooded into her basement earlier this year. Long story short, water came back in and we used a different company this time. My sister states that Michaelis did not remove the base boards when they were there last, and only removed the carpet and padding. The new company discovered that there is mold behind these boards, under the stairs, on the drywall and on the wood framing behind the drywall. I personally called Michaelis, was forwarded to and left a voicemail with the guy that came out and examined the original damage. Have yet to hear back. Unfortunately, we also learned today, after she paid for the demolition, that the insulation was moldy from our insurance adjuster when he came out. He stated that it was from an old damage that has progressed over time. We are really not happy with this company and they will never be used by her or our family ever again! I am now doing my best to help my sister get her home back to normal.

Dell was fantastic! He really helped us get out of hot water with our sellers. He worked an extra long day to come check our property and when we thanked him for his extra efforts, he responded with Im just doing my job. He was a life saver!!!! Even after working an extra long day he took the time to talk to me and explain what he was seeing when evaluating the cracks to ensure I was comfortable. We really appreciated everything he did for us.

We had a complicated moisture issue in one corner of our walkout basement. We called two companies for estimates. Dave, with your company, quoted us a decent price for a rather simple fix. The other company quoted a high price involving a major fix. We chose Michaelis and the work was done promptly. Unfortunately although Dave’s diagnosis was correct and the fix was needed, it didn’t solve the problem, as we discovered with the next big rain. Dave returned and offered another more extensive “fix” and your company gave a very fair quote along with apologies for not having succeeded at solving the problem with the first visit. Chris was involved with the next remediation. He supervised your workers and did a timely job, and the clean up was great! Both Dave and Chris were very competent and easy to work with. Even with the two remediations, your company charge was less than the other company. We appreciate your business and will recommend you.

I had an incident where my garage was damaged. Michaelis repaired the damage so that it looked like new. They even mated the 7 year old paint perfectly. Pricing was fair and reasonable. I would definitely recommend.

We had a wet basement issue in our home and Bill Verhonik came out to our home to inspect and give his opinion about what needed to be done to correct it. It was a simple fix and he was honest and told us what to do to fix it without expensive repair from his company. I truly appreciated his honesty and hold his company in highest regards for not taking advantage of a customer. Honest business people are rare and we truly appreciate them!! This company was recommend by our realtors. We had some flooring support that needed to be done on our house to sell it. The job that they did was fine, but all of the other things that happened is why I gave them this rating. Dell, who does the estimates, would not get back with me for days at a time and that was with texts, phone calls and emails. The work was done in two days and I never got a call ahead phone call of when they were going to be there like I had asked. We were not at the home so this was important. I asked the worker to lock the door when he left, which he didnt do and just decided to let himself in the house the next day when he got there. We have 2 cats and they left the door open both days the whole time they were working. Luckily I was able to find them and they didnt run away or get run over by a car because we lived on a very busy street. I never leave reviews, but I feel like this one was bad enough that it warranted one. I let our realtors know, so hopefully they never recommend this company to anyone else.

As a health insurance broker, I know how tough it is to find organizations to assist you and be willing to trust them with your clients. I never hesitate to recommend individuals and/or other property and casualty agents to Michaelis (most notable, Ryan Sebree). Ryan has an extensive background of being Property & Casualty agent himself, so I know he will do a more than excellent job with anyone I recommend him to.

I cant comment on their work because they were honest enough to not do any of it for us. Here is the story... We found some mold in our home during renovation. Rick Michaelis Jr. came out and gave us an estimate. He told us is wasnt bad enough to require a full remediation and we should clean it up ourselves. He could have easily taken us for $1,000 or more and we wouldnt have batted an eye. If we ever do need their services we will call them first. Honesty is rare these days. It was refreshing.

Bought a home where this company did foundation work and the roofing. Called them because of a roof issue it took two months for them to send anyone out then they started it was what someone else did that it wasnt their fault. The roof has an obvious hump but they want to blame it on the metal work. The receipt was for over 40k in repairs and they wont back up their work. Very upset with this company and the way they handle good customers

Called the firm to ask to use their emergency service and the receptionist was rude and unwilling to listen to my issue. People must phone companies such as this when they are in stressful situations so one would think they would be somewhat empathetic. However I ended up trying to use people skills to convince the company to help me which I failed at. Horrible customer service - worst I have experienced in Indiana so far.

Michaelis installed a new crawl space door. They were on time, they didnt measure twice - they measured THREE times, they were efficient, they were friendly, and they were extremely cost competitive. They are on the top of our list from now on!

They did a very good job repairing a brick wall in the cellar of my 100 year old house. The crew that did the work was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Only complaint would be that the price seemed a little high for what they did.

Their crew had to excavate through 12 ft (depth) of wet clay next to our exterior poured foundation to repair cracks causing water to leak into our basement. They worked through tough, rainy conditions until the job was successfully completed. Wheelbarrows were used to haul the wet clay away to a dumpster, then again to bring in pea gravel for backfill, once waterproofing of the exterior wall was done. I would recommend them to others in need of solving a basement foundation water leak problem.

We had a major electrical fire in our Broad Ripple home on June 23, 2014. Besides the framing and foundation, our house was almost a complete loss from fire, smoke, and water damage. Michaelis Corp immediately secured the roof, broken windows, and doors after the fire was out. From complete demolition and remodel, Michaelis worked with us and our insurance company. Our home was repaired to complete satisfaction. Richard is an honest and detailed owner; I highly recommend.

We called them because we had humidity and a little mold in one of our basement walls. They came and diagnosed the problem in 5 seconds: a crack in concrete wall. They replaced part of the wall, changed a lot of $, but problem persisted. We still have humidity in our basement and will soon have to replace part of the wall. They may have fixed that crack but did not take care of the base problem. We are very disappointed.

I heard this company did a good job fixing water issues in a work associates basement so I called on the 12th of June to schedule to have someone come out and inspect the crawlspace at my property and give me a quote on encapsulation on mold remediation, the earliest they could have some one come out was early the week of the 26th, so I scheduled an appointment for 6/27 at 3pm, On 6/27 I was woken up at around 11am with a phone call from the inspector saying he had an emergency in Indianapolis and could fit the inspection in in 20 minutes but I had to decline since I was not able to travel to the property the quickly, so he offered to reschedule the appointment to Saturday 7/1 at 11am which I agreed to. So I went to my property which is 25 miles away and waited and when 11am rolled around no one showed up, so at 11:01 I sent a text message and did not get a reply until almost 20 minutes later, I dont know if his excuse about his daughter coming in from New York the prior evening was true or if he just didnt want to come out and get down in my crawlspace, but then he sent me a quote using their generic price table and details about my property from public record, which they could have just done 3 weeks ago instead of wasting my time. The services they offer are also more expensive than a quote I got from another company which was going to charge 20% more but the other company was going to use a heavier 20mil barrier(vs 10mil), install a dehumidifier, install 4 additional piers, as well as insulating the rim joists with spray foam.

Had a pipe leak in my basement. I called and the guy asked when do you want me out there? Jokingly I said yesterday! With out wasting a second he said he coul show up with a crew in one hour. Due to insurance reasons I held off on that but Dell, the agent they sent out to look, showed up exactly one hour later. He showed me the problem, gave me options to fix it, and a timeline. It took five days for my insurance company to send an adjuster out to look at it, Dell was on site in one hour... Should sum it up nicely, but theres more. Finally the insurance company gave the thumbs up on coverage and Dell and his crew came out. They went above and beyond what was necessary to fix and clean up the problem. The crew was here and gone in no time flat. Barely noticed they were here. After it was done they showed me what was done and I was really impressed with how far they took the cleaning part. A few days later they sent out another person to do a walk through for quality assurance. Super nice people, quality work, great customer service. They will be on my list of people to call wheny house decides to implode again.

They came out on a Thursday to look at the suspected mold and to give us a quote. We were told we would have the quote by Sunday evening. Monday afternoon I called the guy and left a voicemail asking for the quote and that I neededit asap due to us being on a time crunch. I then sent a text to him. No response all day. I called the main number on Tuesday and was told they would have him call me as soon as he could. I got a text from the guy Tuesday around 5p saying he would get the quote to be by late Tuesday night. Still no quote Tuesday. We called and texted him again on Wednesday... no response. We were on a deadline for realtors and explained that... still no response. My husband called the main number Wednesday evening and was told he would call us asap. He text me and said that he would get the quote to me by 1030p if I still needed it. Yes! Ive been asking all week for it! The quote was crazy expensive. I had already contacted another company by Wednesday because I didnt think I was going to get a quote. The other company gave me a quote the same day they were here. I would not recommend this company. The guy never called us, only sent text messages and I dont think that is professional.

My Company was performing a medium sized remodel for the homeowner. While doing so, we discovered severe subsurface penetration occuring along the basement cove of the block wall foundation.The homeowner & I agreed that basement waterproofing was necessary. He asked me to take estimates.Long story short, Michaelis provided the most cost-efficient estimate for my client; however, they require significant prep work to be done prior to their installation of interior perimeter drains with a sump pump. When I ask them to quote the homeowner price on the prep work, they informed me that their Construction portion of the business was way too busy to address the prep work for their waterproofing side. They suggested that my company to do the prep work instead. They stated, Trust me, youll be cheaper... We would only have a guy like you quote a price and then add $1,000 or so to it, and pass it along to the customer.The homeowner and I discussed this and upon his request, we charged a modest price to cut the paneled wall covering 18 inches from the basement floor, so that Michaelis could feel all holes in the block wall where furrier strips were installed. To be cost-efficient for the client we agreed to reinstall the same paneling after waterproofing was completed.Michaelis used a subcontractor to complete all work. The subcontractor modest job in completing the perimeter drain portion of the job, although he didnt feel any holes in the block wall above 4 inches from the basement floor or plug in the sump pump following the installation. Subsequently, the basement flooded from a hole in the block wall that was approximately 6 inches from the floor, thereby damaging some of the new flooring we installed following the waterproofing. The contractor also severed some of the electrical lines running to the outlets.After everything was said and done, the project manager for a Michaelis had the nerve to tell my client, that if he had used Michaelis contractors to do his basement prep, they would have recognized an address the hole in the foundation that was 6 inches from the floor that wasnt filled.The homeowner, was present when the initial Michaelis salesman / project manager told us that they were too busy and didnt have time to do the basement prep I prefer to push that responsibility off on my company.Their customer service and customer follow-up are horrendous. We never saw the salesman / project manager during the course of the job or up on the jobs completion. It wasnt until after the homeowner made several complaints about the damages and faulty workmanship, that a senior project manager showed up and addressed some the issues.
