We have had incredibly courteous, quick and knowledgeable service from all Hayes & Sons staff members we have had at the house. Starting with the carpenter and the electrician that came out initially, the water remediation crew, the team that coordinated the removal of out items and delivery of the dumpster, and the team leads on all items as well as the staff looking over the project as a whole. Everyone has been amazing to work with and it feels like they are going way past “just good enough” to help us feel less stressed and taken care of during the process. They have also been super awesome with Otis our 90lb lab - he gets excited when his new friends are coming to visit.

Hays + Sons in NW Indiana just completed the restoration of my elderly mothers home that was damaged after a pipe burst under her slab foundation. They were responsive and effective in stopping the water leak, removing the damaged flooring, drying the place out, tearing up the slab to get to the broken pipe, repairing the broken pipe, replacing the flooring, painting, and ultimately putting the place back together so well that it looks even better than before the pipe broke. A gentleman named Mio started the process, and a gentleman named Mick managed the restoration process - and both of them assured and helped my mother with every detail - even bringing her flooring samples to choose from so she didnt have to drag herself from store to store to find the floor she likes. At 86 years old, I dreaded the disruption and complexity that my mother would have to endure to have her flooded home restored. My fears never materialized though - as this team treated my mother (and her home) as they probably treat their own mothers - with the utmost care, patience, and respect. When my mother moved back into her home after the two weeks of restoration work, she was delighted to have the place put back together exactly as it was meant to be - sparkling clean and ready to live in again. Having your home flood and living through a restoration is never something you want to experience, but this team at Hays + Sons made the process easy and stress free for my mother - and for me. I can honestly say that you can trust this team to take care of your mother and successfully complete her home restoration.

Derek Thompson was our project manager and he was OUTSTANDING! He is reliable, dependable, very knowledgeable, and very communicative! He oversaw the project in a professional manner and treated us so well! We were lucky to get him!

David and Travis have been a life saver to me when I had water damage in my property. The estimates were quick and fair, the repairs were done the right way the first time. I have used Hayes and Sons twice. The first time they replaced water damaged wood on the outside of my house. It looks brand new. The second times I used them was to restore my basement that had been flooded. The employees always showed up on time and worked the whole day. My basement also looks brand new. I couldn’t be more pleased and would recommend Hayes and Sons to anyone that needed top notch work with very professional employees.

I wish I could say I had the positive experience that these other customers had. I was referred to this company by a friend. I decided to choose them out of all of the companies that I requested estimates from because the Project Manager who came to assess my crawlspace at the time seemed very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Also, their estimate most closely matched the estimate from the Insurance Adjuster.As soon as they started work on June 17th, all communication from the Project Manager completely stopped. I repeatedly called him, left voicemails asking specific questions and requesting that he return my calls, I called the office, who would then put me on hold while they reached out to him and would come back on the line every time with the same canned response Hes busy right now, but youre next on his list to call. Not once did he ever call or respond to my emails in FIVE WEEKS. Even when I expressed to the receptionist and the technicians who were working on the space that I was extremely frustrated with the lack of communication, and then requested to speak the the actual Manager, again I was ignored and the Manager never reached out to me either. It was like some kind of game to them.There was some unknown issue in my crawlspace that was causing it to not dry completely (estimate said it would take 3 days of drying), after five weeks, the technicians finally admitted that there must be some kind of problem, and they reached out to the Project Manager (funny everyone was always able to reach him except me) and they claimed that he would be reaching out to me to schedule a time to come out and re-assess the issue. They also claimed that a leak detection crew would be coordinating a time to come see if there was a hidden leak somewhere. None of those things ever happened.After being told that the PM would reach out, and knowing he was made aware of all my ongoing issues that Id been having for over a month, and still not receiving any communication from him or anyone in management, I made one last attempt to speak to the Project Manager and was given the run around once again. At that point I had reached my limit. I have been more than patient with this whole process. All I asked was for someone to keep me informed of a strategy, next steps, someting. Never in my life have I been treated this way as a customer. In what world does a company who not only has extended the projected completion time of a project by over a month, but who also has a client relentlessly calling and practically begging for a return phone call, still never reaches out? I dont know if I would have received the courtesy of communication if I were a man or what the actually issue was, it makes absolutely no sense. I requested that they come and remove their equipment so that I can start over with a company who can finish the job the right way, and hopefully in a much more professional manner. Even asking them to cease work didnt prompt a phone call or apology for my inconvenience. Its obvious that keeping my business was not a priority to them and neither was conducting themselves as a professionals.I would NOT recommend this company!!

There isnt much to recommend with Hays and Sons. They are very slow and uncoordinated. The project manager they assigned us was very inexperienced, poor communication both to me and the contractors, caused multiple problems for us as well as their subcontractors. Its pretty sad when the subcontractors they use are talking bad about him and his disorganization to me. The worst though is their estimator, he is a very dishonest individual. He tried charging multiple times for work that didnt need to be done and was never done at our house. I had to argue with him to have that removed and in the end I became so frustrated that I did end up paying for some work that wasnt done just to be done dealing with them. The repairs that they made to our house were not all done properly. The only thing good I can say is the lady in the office who I first spoke to when we had the pipe burst was friendly and they did come out fast that one time, also their accounting lady was friendly and professional. I wouldnt recommend you use this company in your home, they are very dishonest and dont do good work. I hope we never have a need for a restoration company again, if we do there is no way it will be Hays and Sons!

My insurance company gave me a list of contractors they had worked with in the past that I could have come out and take a look at my roof for hail damage. I called and may an appointment. The young lady was very nice and we made an appointment for this past Friday from 12-2pm. Around 2pm, I called after sitting at home waiting for their rep and not seeing them. I spoke to the young lady and she was not sure what was going on. She did not see anything in the notes about re-scheduling. Her counterpart was at lunch and she said she would talk to her and call me back. Her counter part called me back to tell me she called and left a message on Wednesday. I looked at my cell and no sign of a message or call. She then said she could re-schedule me for 2 weeks from now. Are you kidding? I already wasted time waiting on them after scheduling a week out. Then she tells me it will be 2 more weeks. No thanks. If this is how they are trying to get business, I doubt it will be better if I hire them.

I cant say enough positive things about Hays & Sons, especially Kyle and Daniel, who came out to clean up the water damage from a water heater leak. They were on time at every appointment, professional, knew exactly what needed to be done and answered all our questions. Highly recommend.

We experienced a leak in a pipe in our wall that resulted in wet insulation and drywall. Once a plumber repaired the pipe, we relied on theWater Team at Hays & Son to advise us of the next steps. The team of Scott Deaser, Kevin Likens and Daniel Kinser stepped up to the challenge.They removed the wet materials properly and then used the right equipment to properly dry up the space so it could be restored.At every step of the process, they kept us apprised of what they were doing, the next steps and what to expect.We appreciated their professionalism and commitment to do the job correctly.

Hays and sons was very quick to respond when we had a overflowing toilet leaving damage to the laundry room and basement. They removed all affected materials, cleaned up the areas and protected the areas that were unaffected by the water damage. They were super communicative about all steps of the mitigation process. Ive had to have Hays and Sons out twice because of awful water damage and each time they were fast, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly. Everyone was easy to work with and with my schedule through the week, my wife has had to be the one at home to answer the door and be with the baby but she never once was made to feel like an inconvenience or uncomfortable. I recently had a toilet leak that led to severe water damage to my house. Hays & Sons was very responsive and had a crew out there the next morning. They were very responsive and kept me informed daily as to the progress and work plan. Once the house was dried out the construction crew took over. My project manager was fantastic. They completed the job timely and on budget.I would highly recommend Hays & Sons to anyone who is need of restoration services.

UPDATE: after being bullied by the company to try to have my review removed entirely and threatened by the wife of the project manager I have removed his name from the public review, which is unfortunate because now more people can fall victim to his incompetence unknowingly. These are the most incompetent contractors I have ever witnessed, I would not recommend Hays and Sons to my absolute worst enemy! We had a house fire in the guest house on my parents property that my father and I were renovating for my wife and I, OVER 3 MONTHS AGO, and dealing with Hays and Sons has been worse than dealing with the fire itself. If you are thinking about hiring Hays and Sons for Any kind of project I implore you to reconsider, I wish we had reviewed them ourselves prior to signing with them but they are the company our insurance suggest so we trusted their judgment, they couldn’t have possibly been more wrong. We only need ONE SINGLE ROOM with a loft to be repaired, it is literally less than 500 square feet with MINIMAL damage as the fire was caught and put out fast yet we are over 90 days since the project has been started and it is not even half way done. They have been absent more days than they have been on site in the 90+ days the project has been open and when they do show up the amount of work that is accomplished is LAUGHABLE, there have been 5 occasions where they sent out a crew that stayed literally less than an hour and then left and never returned without completing ANY work. I posted a negative review once about a month and a half ago and the management called and begged us to take the review down and said that they would be out here everyday until the project was finished, they came the following three days in a row, go almost nothing done and then disappeared for another week, we called and expressed our frustration and they then sent out a crew that stayed for ONE HOUR and left to never return and they haven’t been back since, but they have plenty of time to call and request their “50% payment” that is only supposed to be paid when 50% of the work is actually done which it absolutely IS NOT. The project manager (who’s name I have redacted after being THREATENED by his wife) is completely careless, and has proven multiple times that he doesn’t not even know the details of the work still needing to be completed, not only that but multiple times he has removed a crew from our project to go work on other projects and has tried to lie about it. I sincerely hope someone from their upper management reads this because this behavior is absolutely PATHETIC and unbelievable. In my line of work I have literally watched entire houses be built from nothing but a open field within the time that they have been “working” on this project, and I’m using the word working VERY loosely. I cannot understand how this company manages to stay in business when they treat their customers this way, I’ve never been more frustrated. The treatment from them feels personal at This point, our insurance agent advised us that if we wanted to get out of our contract with that we could because Hays and Sons has already broken the terms of the contract themselves and I believe that is our next move, otherwise I’m sure this tiny project will go well into the winter before they get close to completing it. I implore you to check their reviews, not just mine, but all of them and you will quickly see this is NOT the company you want. Please save yourself the frustration and anger and find ANYONE ELSE for your project, I would not wish this situation on my worst enemy...

My parents have been deliang with this company for over a year. So far we have been very disapointed. Our family has been in this property since 1990, and we had a fire on November 3 2018. My parents are just now getting back into the house. Its April 2020. This process has been very stressful for my parents who are both over 68 years old. we have had issues with the plumber, electrician, and all of the staff, including the project managers. Hays and sons has had to redo the bathroom tile and drywall, it has just been a very unpleasant experience. Although the country is going through a pandemic, my parents were asked to move into a house that would need at least two weeks of work done, so now they are living in the residence and workers are coming in and out with no mask on. like seriously people. I hope that they are done soon so that my parents can enjoy their home and I can stop worrying about them. Overall I would not recommend this company.

During a recent storm a huge tree fell through the roof and into our home. Within only 2 hours of calling Hays and Sons they arrived at our house which was extraordinary considering the storm damage and traffic around the city. They assessed the situation, called a tree company, and worked until 3:00am to remove the tree, make temporary repairs, and tarp the hole. Fast, empathetic, and good work. That’s a winning hand!

Hays + Sons was able to get to my home quickly to take care of a water damage. Everyone was very professional and informative. I highly recommend.

Hays and Sons was recommended to fix a few lost shingles. Overall we had a great experience. They were timely in scheduling the appointments and completing the service. My primary complaint would be the minimum service charge. It is stated as one price on the release form but quoted $100 more by estimators. In the end, $450 dollars is a bit salty for 1hour of work to replace 5 shingles.

And Fernando P. removed the toilet & vanity, removed the old bathroom linoleum and installed new tile/grout after water damage/small flood in 2nd bathroom. So far so good. Have not actually started any restoration on our claim but the crews that have been here doing board up and weatherproofing have done a good job and have cleaned up some of the debris. All have been personable, professional and efficient.

Mr Josh,Mr Shane and Mr Donald was kind,professional and courteous. They answered any and all questions I had and took care of any problems that popped up quick. My basement was an absolute mess when these gentlemen arrived here. It is now a space that can be lived in thanks to them. I will highly recommend this company and these Guys. Tark and his team were wonderful. We lost a lot of sentimental property from a fire and he and his team were wonderful through the whole process. They gave us time to process losing some of our items but were able to salvage the most important pieces to us. They even braved the freezing temperatures with us to make sure that all of our items were accounted for and taken care of. I hope that I never need to call them again but if I do I know I will be in great hands!

They were very prompt and very professional, and so helpful I had just lost my home to a fire and they made sure what ever was salvageable was safe from the first night and then when it was time to pull out my appliances I did not have to do a thing, then after they cleaned and repaired what they salvaged they brought it to my new house. Dissatisfied and dismayed with the service we received from this company. Our event occurred Monday April 22nd of 2019. Mind you this was roughly a 300 sq foot area of our storage facility that was damaged by fire. The work Hays and Sons did do, took until October 10th 2019 to complete! This was with us calling our insurance adjuster multiple times, week in and week out asking why isnt anyone here from Hays and Sons? Worker no shows for weeks on end to complete even minor tasks! We were told that the job was too small and did not involve enough $$$ so many of their subcontractors chose not to take the job?! Too many issues for me to even take the time to list here! I ended up doing much of the finished work myself just to get the place ready before winter set in! I HATE leaving bad reviews but with Hays and Sons I had no choice! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone nor will I ever use them again.

There are definitely better places. Ive worked for them a few times air quality is low! Indiana restoration definitely has them beat!

My insurance company contacted Hays + Some for a restoration claim. They were quick and efficient. Liked that they came in and showed me what they were going to do and did it. Friendly and professional. I would hire them for future projects.

If waters gushing in a basement, or a fallen tree has ripped a hole in a roof, I know all I need to do is contact Hays & Sons and theyll be out there in a flash. Ive had nothing but compliments from my clients on their quick response and high quality workmanship. Theres plenty of restoration companies out there, but this is the one that in my professional capacity I trust.

Giving them 1 star is being way too generous. Wont return phone calls or texts. Had tornado damage in April and it took them 5 months to get roof and gutters put on. They dont do half the work they put on the estimate. Would not recommend.
