This could be a really nice place if they had really tried but not much effort was made. When you first visit Brookhaven, you might be impressed by the appearance of the lobby but once you delve further into the building you will see how shabby and unkempt it really is. Lets start with the carpeting within the lobby and hallways. It hasnt been replaced in 10 years and doesnt appeared to have been cleaned in that time. There are massive stains, dog hair and the occasional dog poop that no one has bothered to pick up. The walls are dirty, dingy and scuffed up. Cracks in the walls are everywhere and hallways stink (you will note the plug-in air fresheners dotting the 1st floor hallways). Out of the 3 buildings, this one is supposed to be the showcase. The other two are worse and critters are a real problem, mostly bedbug infestations. Cant blame that solely on management because some residents bring them in from treasure hunting in dumpsters and hoarding. Maintenance depends on the worker. One guy is responsive and the other is lazy and makes little effort unless pushed. Noise is about par for a 55+ community. Not too bad and its like a tomb at night. Safety can be an issue because of outside doors being left unlocked, garage doors being left open. Had a couple of homeless or drunks get in to sleep it off in stairwells in different buildings. This could be cured if residents would be mindful of locking or closing doors behind them. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet. The office has gone through a few managers in the last year I lived there. They seem to up and quit in the middle of the day. Not sure why but its hard to have consistent management when they abruptly quit or are simply not there. They will cheerfully greet you and take your money because you are simply a rent check to them. When coming to inquire, make sure to really walk around and ask to visit all buildings. Youll never see the actual apartment youll be renting so dont rely on the appearance of the model apartment. You can do better

I enjoy living here! Im loving full nights of peaceful and quiet sleep. The residents look out for each other, maintenance is prompt and efficient, and the office staff people are friendly and professional. My only complaint is when office phones are not answered when I phone them during office hours and phone messages are not returned, so I just dont leave messages any more, making phone contact with the office that much more difficult. That said, this is a GREAT place to live, and Im thankful we are here. Keep up the good work! Im loving the fun and fellowship here too! Its a true community.

WARNING! THINK TWICE before moving here. Safety is a huge concern for senior citizens and although the location seems relatively safe, as a resident you will NOT be safe from the extremely unprofessional manager they hired. I lived here 5 years with no problems, but rumors of her harassment and intimidation toward residents spread throughout the complex. I had never dealt with her personally, but finally it was my turn when they raised my rent yet again, and since my lease was up soon I decided to put in notice to vacate. The manager refused to honor the date on my written copy of my lease, she forced me to leave early stating leap year issues, which are unheard of. This created a hardship on me and I had to give away my furniture because of it. She also tried to force requirements on me that were not even written in the lease, which is a legal document. After I moved out and got relocated, this woman called me yelling and screaming at me, and I felt threatened by her extremely unprofessional conduct. She told me she was going to do a walk through and find something and I would be hearing from their attorneys. I asked her why she would do that when I left the unit in excellent condition, and she said because I am the manager and I can do whatever I want. She then slammed the phone down on me. I found the number to corporate and called them twice asking for help, but to no avail. No return call back......no apologies......NOTHING. This same manager chased a resident out of the building and banged on her window when she leaped into her car for safety! All residents can do is make a police report on this woman. She is out of control and corporate refuses to act and take the safety of the residents seriously. Corporate greed wins......senior citizens LOSE. My advise is to go down the road to the new Hellenic senior apartments just opened less than a mile away. Maybe their corporate office hires PROFESSIONAL managers and doesnt allow their residents to be intimidated, harassed and bullied. Senior citizens deserve safety, respect and stability. Shame on corporate for allowing these complaints to go unaddressed for such a long time!

This is a senior community, how do you let a resident go without AC in 90 degree weather for days without at least returning one of their multiple calls and emails??? But, if they need something from a resident they will find your 3rd cousin to get a hold of you......notice the reply below? Within the hour but no reply to the resident. Also, I have called and spoke to a Spencer who was of absolute no help. Isnt even located at this location. How about you have someone check the messages there and get the AC fixed instead of worrying about Google reviews.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!It looks good from the outside, but a walk through will give you the real picture of their lack of maintenance: Hallway carpets are a nasty, dirty, dog waste spotted mess...the parking garage overhead entry door often does not work....their answer is to leave the door open along with the unlocked door entry to the building. ..they are NOT very security conscience..the police have been called when an unknown man was found sleeping in the stair well to escape the winter cold. The elevator is not reliable. Experienced several days without it...(moving in or out can present issues without the elevator if youre not on the first floor) Not to mention everyday needs/access.After the lease is signed, the office staff become unhelpful, and unpleasant.....bordering on rude. They do not provide any orientation or anything as simple as a welcome packet with basic information. I have helped several new residents understand how to dispose of their trash bags after I learned the process from another resident. They made several mistakes regarding coding my entry info for the security door. They forgot to process some lease info requiring me to redo.I paid extra for garage parking and they were always going to get me my parking tag...They are ALWAYS going to help you, but never do.They have many rules, but none seemed to be enforced, e.g. having to enter the building through a cloud of smoke. Or, dogs allowed to run off leash.Like most places they find ways to keep your deposit and even bill you for a bit extra. That is almost too be expected, BUT, these folks have taken it to a new level...they send you the bill (to your Brookhaven address even though they have your new address) that states it is due within 30 days or will be turned over to collections. Their twist is: they wait about 14 days to mail it.... So, between the mail forwarding process and their delay in mailing.... there is an obvious attempt to create a problem. In my experience the office staff are disingenuous, and rude people interested only in meeting whatever quotas that have been imposed by their offsite leadership.Again, I second Mary Brown...my recommendation is to avoid this place!
