Nice BBQ joint with good service. We ordered the BBQ wings with Cajun sauce. Sauce had great kick but wings were a little on the dry side. Burnt ends were ok and the sauce was average. Portions r ok.

Husband and I dine out at least 2 a month and always go to the independence location. Order is the same each time. House salad, fried mushrooms; large baked beans and baby back ribs. Never reviewed a restaurant before, but just feel the need. Had an early lunch today. Clean, fast and delicious as usual. We enjoyed Sarah as our server today. She is fantastic. Never had an empty glass of iced tea, very friendly! If you go in to enjoy a meal there, you will be blessed to be served by Sarah! Thank you.

Stopped on our way to Colorado and it was wonderful. You walk in and the rich smokey smell is heavenly. Great waitress, classy place.

Most of the food was good. The ribs were pretty dry and tasted like they were from the night before.

The food was delicious! We ordered some baby back ribs, and they were so phenomenal. But a waitress makes all the difference. The service could have been a bit better and attentive. If you’re looking for good BBQ, this is the place to go!

Had the beef burnt ends platter with added sausage. They do offer pork burnt ends as well. Coleslaw was really good. The burnt ends were very tender and the sausage tasty, came with side a fries and two pieces of toast. Platter cost about 19 and with drink the total came out to about 24 bucks. Need to try more of the menu but a good experience.

Very Tasty Burnt Ends. The Baked Beans and their White Cheddar Mac + Cheese were A-mazing. I will be back to try more.PS. I purchased the trio of BBQ Sauces.

Great BBQ, the meat is super tender and cooked perfectly. Its hard to stand out in a city full of great BBQ but Smokehouse stands tall!

I got take out and wasn’t impressed. Salad was a big pile of lettuce with less than a teaspoon of cheese, carrots and peas. I didn’t know it had bacon bits until my last few bites. The pork was very good, but didn’t need to be served with a piece of plastic wrap included.

The food was some of the best barbeque I have ever had! The service was wonderful even with 12 people in my party. I would 100% recommend this place to a friend!

We ordered under delivery option from the online menu. DON’T follow the recommendation on how many people the items will feed. Happy Father’s Day, only half the family can have dinner. Food is tasty but would’ve been nice for everyone to have some.

Was fine had a to go order they were fast on the order which was great. Meat didnt have much flavor, the BBQ sauce was bland reminded me of Rosendales sauce. BBQ beans were very good lots of flavor.

Some of the best traditional KC barbecue, slow hickory smoked with a sauce that is not too sweet, not too tangy, not too spicy. The meat is deliciously tender and juicy. The baked beans are some of the best I have ever had -- highly recommended

Went for pretty early dinner and was not impressed. Burnt ends were to hard, pulled pork was dry, potato salad and apps were good. The margarita was not good at all

They say it was Texas toast, but it was just two pieces of dry bread. The meat was ok but not real tender. Did like the beans and cheesy corn.

Came from georgia and whew... The sauce is definitely a little too sweet for me and everything could definitely use a bit more seasoning. baked potato was the best part.

Food was ok. The chopped burnt ends had no flavor. I added salt, onions & pickles to make it tolerable. The Mac/cheese had good flavor but was lukewarm when I got it & turned cold quick. Just want to saw the food here is amazing. Last week I called in and got a dinner for 2, with briquettes, pork and chicken. Got mac & cheese as well as a house salad with ranch.Everything was so juicy and tender.The person I spoke with, Matt, went above and beyond. Asked us a few questions that are not generally asked by other staff.

Side are a little small, but the food is always delicious!! I really like the Turkey!!! Restaurant is always clean and good customer service!!

Our server was very nice. We bought the smokehouse punch special drink which was a little strong I also got the bacardi limeade mango it was very tasty was supposed to be frozen and wasnt but it was still good. The food we order was good he got the chefs special. It does have only one rib of each kind we was lesd to believe it was more than one of each item. I got the Monterey chicken it was a 12 oz. I did have to take home left overs! It was verrryyy good toped with ham and back with cheese. The cheesy corn had tons of flavor and i could eat it all! I was not a fan of the bread tho. This is clearly one of the finest place in the region. Anytime I go there I am remarkably happy. They hold their very high standard service and the highest level of dishes they give. You always win with this restaurant. Very recommended.

We had a full rack of baby back ribs and they were amazing! Loved them!

Food was good - BUT was not worth the money - spent $52.00 for 1 lb burnts ends, medium size beans, small coleslaw and fries. And waited and waited - the girl at the to go counter had to go get a manager to get the food for me, the cooks would not put it out like she had asked. You can go to Arthur Bryants get quicker service, get more for your money and have left overs.

Salads were good, fries were perfect the mac and cheese was awsome. The chicken wings were dry and flavorless. The ribs were very dry and very tough. The burnt ends tasted like a cubed up pieces of ham. Overall very not happy with the meal. Service was excellent but food was lacking.

I am a Door Dasher. From the moment you walk into the door you’re treated terrible. The lady on nights cussing up and down, on her phone, leaning over the counter. Very unprofessional with a terrible attitude.The guy during the week on days is awesome, always does anything he can to help.

The menu we found on their website must be outdated as the real prices were much higher. On the website, the shrimp were $8.95 but in reality they were $16.95. So be aware going in. The food was good, service was somewhat slow. It seemed as if only one server was working every table for a while as he was going non-stop.Loved the pig decor.

Wait was not longer than they said. The BBQ grilled shrimp was tender and cooked perfectly. The other person had the New York strip and she raved about it. The dinner salads are more than just lettuce. Would go back for sure!

Smokehouse is a lovely place. I love the food and MOST of the workers. Marci is the WORST!!!!!! She is so rude and impolite. I have had great experiences with every server EXCEPT.... dun dun dun dunnnn MARCI!! Whenever you go to smokehouse in Independence make sure you request a different server. Tip: if you pop your head over the little table they have you can see if she is working that day.

I went in for lunch and got the lunch special with the pork sandwich and beans and it was great. The food came quick. The server was quick and efficient. He was friendly and did a great job! The food was tastey as well. The parking and location is great too, right off 39th Street. Great place!

Brooke was our server, literally the BEST! Baby back ribs were delicious! BUT... The carrot cake. Ohhhh, that carrot cake. There are no words!! I would come to replace if ONLY for the carrot cake if I had to!!! Love this place!

Worst place Ive eaten since being here. So disappointed. Steamed veggies mushy, no flavor to pulled pork other than the ketsup flavored BBQ sauce, and dry bread toast.

Truly, consistently the best BBQ in the KC area. Locally owned and delicious, Ive never been disappointed. Cajun wings a must! We order two apps and compensate with small meals theyre so delicious! Also, COVID policies are solid; therefore making it a comfortable choice.

Pretty pricey for the area. Side of mac&cheese was 4 bites, i accept this for beans but nor the mac man. My burnt ends were big cubes, but very dry and not anything id go outa my way for. I ordered 3 items (sammich combos) but felt like i had enough for 2. Staff is excellent and friendly, place was cleanish, womens restroom by the bar was gas station-y. Getting an order to-go, I was disappointed the side was so small compared to dining in. I prefer grilled to plain bread, but that’s my taste. Their BBQ is great and it was obviously plated immediately, warm by the time we picked it up. ‘Meat candy’😍

I had burnt ends witch came with Texas Toast. Apparently in KC Texas Toast is two pieces of white bread toasted. When I told our server about this her response was... I get that alot.

They have the weirdest original bbq sauce. We had to scrape all the sauce off. It tasted like applesauce almost. Myself and the other person in my party both thought this. Will ask for dry meat from now on and sides of the hot bbq.

I showed up for supper yesterday around 6pm. When I tried to make my order, I was told they were out of beef and this just didnt make any sense so I just got off the phone with the Manager and she told me they get their MEAT FROM SYSCO!!! THAT WAS ENOUGH SAID! I THOUGHT I Would give them one more try since the last time I was there, their Mushrooms were undercooked and still cold! Good Bye Smokehouse!

First time trying this place. Ordered a Sampler plater $32.00. Got ribs 1/4 slab, very small amount of beef- enough only for 1 small sandwich ( Disappointed) and 1 tiny drumlette & 1 tiny tigh(disappointed). Comes w/3 sides- fries( never got- they did credit me 15.00 which was very generous).White Mac & cheese- (horrible) milk separated from cheese, and beans ( good). I also got a slice of turtle cheesecake 7.95 ( overpriced for tiny piece, ) Overall review- I will never return. It was a waste of money for not good food for the price.

Great food great service the salads came about 3 min before the food did was the only downside. But better than the food just sitting back there.

Burnt Ends Platter was horrible. Beef was charred so much all I tasted was char and pork ends were waay too fatty. Both cuts of meat had no flavor either. Dry Texas Toast with no butter? $18 is a lot for sub par BBQ. Only thing good was potato salad.

I ate the super crispy beans and fries last night in a Togo order. About an hour an a half after eating my stomach was on fire. Just spent the entire night puking up super crispy. Food poisoning. I had a light lunch and felt completely fine before I ate the bbq.

I was not happy with the price to food ratio. I showed my platter untouched to my foodie friends and they understood why i was unhappy with the price i paid. I couldnt even sell that platter for $10. Oth, my husband ordered something different and because they got the order wrong they gave him extra. I even expressed my discrepancies to the manager when he showed it to me and he said sorry cant do that. I asked for just a couple pieces more of bf rib tips and a turkey slice and was made to feel like I was in the wrong. No offer for anything else/ substitute. Just a flat NO. For the price and embarrassment, i will pass. Id rather eat a McRib and pretend its real before i deal with the embarrassment again. I said ok. NEVER AGAIN!
