I contacted with a few questions about tax implications as well as help with my LLC. They didn’t even bother to call me back
My parents and I have been doing our taxes with Scott for many years now. He’s always been kind, professional and takes the time to answer all of our questions. We truly are lucky that as of this day we’ve had no issues. We definitely recommend our friends and family to this business as we hope they will not be disappointed.
Literally the worst exsperance I could have had. After talking with an associate there nothing we spoke about was compleated or worked on. I was forced to find another to redo the job.
We worked with Scott. If it’s a one and done with your taxes you might be ok, however, if you have anything weird or unusual with your taxes or you get audited by the IRS and there is a problem, GOOD LUCK! We received a letter from the IRS saying we owed them a great deal of money(>$10,000) so we tried calling Smith and Kunz and we finally got ahold of Scott and he told us to send some papers to him and he would take care of it so we did (which cost another $50) Fast forward a couple months and we get another letter saying the same thing. I called the IRS myself and they never received anything from him, not even a POA. So over the a course of a couple weeks I called and called his office and could never get past his receptionist. I told them to leave him a message several times and to call me and he never called. And during all this time the amount owed was collecting interest. So we finally just went to another CPA that would actually work with us and we got it resolved. I am extremely dissatisfied with them and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. 👎🏻
They held my tax information hostage for over a month and a half. We completed the taxes in office but needed to give him a decision on how we would like it to be filed. We emailed him (Scott) shortly after, and he said he would get if finished. We called the office numerous times and were told it wasn’t done or it would be by noon that day. We also sent emails that were ignored. It was already done in office! I don’t understand why, but can only guess he didn’t save it or lost something. When we finally spoke to him, he half apologized. At that point, I just wanted to get it over with. When I realized I needed to add another document, I brought it to the office and was told they would get back to me. I never signed my taxes, but they are now being deposited in my bank. How is this possible?!DO NOT use this unprofessional, untrustworthy office! They are only out for money and overcharge for services they took over a month to even respond to!They made me feel awful. I expected so much better and am left with the bad taste of distrust in my mouth.
Smith and Kunz helped with us when we where audit by the IRS. We didnt have to worry about a thing. They just took our case and ran. In the end the IRS owed us money.I gave them a 4 star because they took a long time to respond to phone cslls.
Called to schedule an appointment for a tax return with them, over the phone I asked if I could get a little cheaper rate than last year as I already had my taxes done with them and it probably would be way less time consuming since I have all the information this time and they had mine, the lady said that they should be able to do that. Got charged $20 more than last year while it took us half the time (around 30 minutes). Not to mention that they had lost my appointment and I had to wait 30 minutes, they didnt offer compensation for that either, so I paid $175 for 30 minutes tax return.
I had them file three years of tax returns and paid them almost $400 (which is outrageous) then 6 months later during the holiday season I got a $150 bill from them. They tried to say I hadnt paid them for one year of tax returns and I had to find the proof that I paid it in my bank statements. To top it off the woman who answered the phone wasnt very nice at all, and hung up on me while I was midsentence. It seems odd that i didnt hear anything from them, then out of the blue I received a bill from them for something Id already paid for. I wonder how many customers they do this to and how many dont have their proof of payment and get ripped off. You should definitely go anywhere else for your accounting needs.
We love Brad! Great service. Great people. Theyve been patient as we learn and navigate a new business and the complex world of taxes. Highly recommended.
I called to check on my taxes they were rejected, they never checked to make sure they went all the way threw. I called in again and they had been rejected a second time and the secretary said that should have known but they waited 2 weeks after finding that out for me to call in again to check on the status. They told me they would find out way and let me know. Im going on 5 days with multiple calls to them and no return calls from the accountants and I still dont know why my taxes got rejected or when they plan on fixing it.
We have used Scott Smith the past few years to do our taxes and couldnt be happier! He is always personable and professional. He knows what hes doing and answers any questions we have. I wouldnt trust anyone else!
Scott is a dream to work with and makes the process very easy!
Quick complete service. I’ve had them do work for me personally and my parents! Completely trustworthy!
After the accountant we had been using moved out of state, we needed to find someone new ASAP. A friend recommended Smith Kunz so we went with them. We found Scott to be friendly, helpful, and he also took the time to explain and answer questions. Our taxes were completed in a timely manner and the cost was reasonable. Overall, we were happy with the service and decided to return the following year.Unfortunately, our 2020 experience with Smith Kunz was the polar opposite. We went back to Scott for our 2019 taxes and also talked my parents into using him as well. In December 2019, Scott very kindly went out of his way to pick up all of the necessary documents since my folks were unable to get out of their home for health reasons. He also picked up my documents while he was there. Then, three months later, COVID hit and led to a lot of difficulties in both reaching Scott and also getting our taxes back. Understandable, but better communication would have helped a lot as we had a very hard time getting any replies to calls and emails. We were finally able to get our and my parents taxes back and thought the matter was settled.HOWEVER, after my parents paid the tax due, a letter from the IRS arrived just yesterday indicating that my parents had underpaid! My calls and emails, again, went unreturned for almost 2 full days. Thats not okay when youre dealing with a time-sensitive matter. Since Smith Kunz wasnt responding, it became necessary for me to find another CPA who very kindly reviewed the returns at no charge. It turns out Smith Kunz assumed quarterly payments had been made without getting cancelled checks or some sort of concrete proof of payment. Thats kind of a critical oversight, especially when my father has advanced dementia and my mother was so ill she was physically incapable of dealing with bills/payments. At my parents request, I took over their bills at the end of March to try and help them, but since all of their tax documents were still in Smith Kunzs possession from the end of December thru mid-June (the same time periods when the quarterly tax payments were due), I was left completely in the dark and had no idea we needed to make quarterly payments.Anyway, I finally got a reply today verifying that Smith Kunz did assume the quarterly payments were made when they were not. Thankfully, the firm also accepted responsibility for the penalties and interest that were accrued as a result of their error. I give them credit for that, but they really, really have got to work on implementing better communication with clients. A short email or phone call with an update would have done wonders while we waited for months to get our taxes back. It is especially important to respond ASAP when a client gets a threatening letter from the IRS!So, while I hate to leave a bad review when Scott has always been so friendly and willing to help (which is the only reason I awarded the firm two stars instead of just one), the huge mistake on my parents taxes has completely destroyed our faith in Smith Kunz. Theres now no question that we need to find another CPA to help us in future. And while that necessity makes me sad, I simply cannot continue to do business with a firm that is so poor at communicating with its clientele.
Very professional service offered by people who you can call friends. I recommend Scott Smith to all my friends and family.
Scott was so great to work with! Easy to schedule, nice office, and great service.
