I wasn’t going to leave a bad review but after having a bad experience my last two times here…. The first bad incident I took my dog to get his rabies shot & the lady administering it was acting totally unprofessional like she was scared of my dog… lady you work at a vets office be courteous to my boy of course he’s going to bark at you YOU are a stranger to him. She didn’t try to talk to him or calm him before running out the room & throwing a muzzle in. He’s never bitten anyone & is the sweetest boy…. That put me off. The other bad experience was today when I scheduled a mass removal that they specifically knew about because they price quoted it & let me know it was by appointment only so when I called to make the appointment today I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THEM WHAT IT WAS FOR! I get there at the appointment time & wait a few minutes & the receptionist (who was very rude & unprofessional our last visit) tells me surgery drop off is in the mornings ONLY! Ummm excuse me ma’am? When I called to make today’s appointment they knew what it was for!!! So unprofessional!!! I will be driving an HOUR away to go to a vet my sister recommended & trusts with her three dogs!!!
I just LOVE this place! The staff are so friendly, and they REALLY care about the animals they take care of. From an injured bird I found and took to them to take care of, to my kitty that got fixed there, they really went the extra mile. I highly recommend!!!
I started last week working there, the next week i went to get my check and this lady names Gale told me i was fired because of my attitude, she needs a attitude check because i’m the nicest person and tried my best to learn things, and she fired me in front of everyone. Also they are to aggressive with the animals and my mom has been a patient there well her cat and i told her to never bring her back because they are not good to those little babies
Having ever used your clinic but have heard excellent things about other peoples experience
Extremely rude and uncaring people. We owed a balance but were told we can still bring our dying dog in. When we got there they brought us into a room and said they refuse to treat the dog. They were extremely rude when talking with us. No compassion or sympathy whatsoever
Not too sure if the ladys name is Christy or what BUT VERY RUDE.. Called to ask about the program for furbabies to get fixed and she was flat out rude. Like really rude.
I brought my cat in for a checkup recently. I have been here a couple times over the past year. The first time I thought she had an infection so I brought her in, but she was fine. The second time I brought her in to get her yearly shots and rabies shot. The staff is always very friendly and caring towards both me and my cat. I have no complaints thus far despite some of the other reviews Ive seen. Pricing is also seems decent and fair for the good quality of pet care you receive.
Staff seemed friendly, but the wait was pretty atrocious. Spent two hours there and ended up late for work. On the other hand, I had called them early in the morning and was able to get an appointment that afternoon so that was nice. Price was okay; I wont say its great but definitely not as bad as most vet visits. Was about 50 some dollars to check ear for an infection and do a glucose test, no meds were necessary.
Love Miss Delia and all her staff!!! They have been taking care of my animals for years!! Miss Delia is always so kind and caring to all my fur babies! Will never go anywhere else!
I have NO idea why there are ANY bad reviews of this place! Dr. Delia and her staff has always made sure my fur babies are well taken care of!! Dr. Delia goes out of her way to make sure that I understand everything that goes on with my pets, and her and her staff has always been top notch! I would never take my babies anywhere else! I drive from 2 counties away to use this vet. Love love LOVE Dr. Delia and her staff!!!! ❤❤❤
Do not use this place. They are very rushed and a little rude
I take all my dogs there. They are the nicest people! They take great care of my animals. Plus they don’t charge you a arm and a leg to treat your fur babies.I also read all the ONE STAR REVIEWS, those reviews sound like a bunch of lies. Because me and my family have always used this business. I heard Chase Animal hospital told their friends to leave bad reviews on this business page. So don’t believe all the slandering.
I would give negative stars if I couldI took my cat here because he was very lethargic and had a fever. They told me that his fever was 106* (102* is normal for a cat) and they told me they would need to keep him for treatment. During the 2.5 days he was there they never called me once for an update. I however called and every time was told her was still running a fever “with an unknown cause.” On Saturday I got a call that I could come get my baby because he was doing much better. They made me pay before I could even see him and brought him to me with him shoved face first time the carrier. The moment I turned him around I could see something was wrong. He was weak, could barely meow or hold his head up and was clear struggling to breathe. I immediately went to another vet and was told within 30 mins that my cat had large amounts of fluid on his lungs, pneumonia and a UTI. Upon looking at the bill (which was approx $500) I learned that Governor’s Choice only did blood work and although the did give my cat antibiotics and fluids they did not do any other testing. NO X-RAYS, URINE OR STOOL SAMPLE, just blood work. After speaking to multiple vets it was confirmed this would have been basic patient care for a animal with an unknown cause of fever. The reason it remained unknown was the vet NEVER checked. If they would have done an X-ray they would have known that the cat was having lung issues and they would not have pumped him with fluid for two days. Sadly after leaving this vet office my baby struggled and despite attempts by the second vets office and the emergency vets office, he had to much pressure on his heart and essentially drown in his own fluids. Barely over 24 hours after leaving their office he passed. On Monday, I brought the situation to the attention of the staff Governor’s Choice they refused to acknowledge their mistakes despite my detailed documentation and told me they would contact the vet for permission to refund my money. Over the next hours they had multiple staff members contact me attempting to defend what they had done(or not done). One staff member called to tell me to get an autopsy to prove what had happened (as a request of the vet) and another called me to tell me they couldn’t contract the vet till Wednesday but would discuss this “situation”. The second woman called multiple times despite me telling her on the first call not to contact me again. They also called the other vets offices attempting “to get the whole story” yet both offices confirmed they also spent the conversation making excuses and covering their own tails. At no point have I received sympathy or even an apology from the staff of Governors Choice or heard from the vet. At this point it’s impossible to know if my cat would have survived but it was their lack of basic care and compassion that caused him to suffered for days. If they would have done the basics on day 1 things would have been different. My baby was clearly struggling to breathe and they ignored it. Sadly since my baby passed I have had multiple people from the community tell me how this vet almost killed or did kill their animals. Save you money, time and pets life and go somewhere else!!
I do believe every staff member genuinely loves their jobs, the animals especially, and it seems to be more than a job to them. More like a lifestyle!!!!! So to everyone whom plays a part in taking care of our furry friends, we appreciate you guys and when you take pride in your work it doesn’t go unnoticed! Once again thanks and have a wonderful and blessed DAY/WEEK/YEAR!!!!!
Took 4 dogs in for rabies shots, and I was in and out in just under an hour. Paperwork, payment and all. The employees were all very nice, professional, and helpful. The price is unbelievably cheap compared to others. Very impressed.
This was my first and LAST visit to this business. My Chihuahua, Paco needed his nails trimmed. I called to find out if I needed to schedule appt, I was told no, that service was available by walk in. So on the advice of the staff I did just that. Well, after waiting 10 minutes at the desk while the reception totally ignored me. Once she FINALLY assisted me, I got paperwork done and was waiting for Paco to be called back... I waited over 1 hour, simply to trim my dogs nails. And if that want bad enough, when they did call for Paco, I had to go back and hold him myself while hes nails were clipped, and I was charged nearly $10! I couldve done that myself, at home a lot quicker had I known. But I assure you I wont be going back... Ever!
Ive used a dozen veterinaries in this area over the last 27 yrs. Gov. choice is the best place Ive been to. They are very friendly, very affordable, and you can show up with out an apt. There is no one who treats you like a low class citizen, no one who acts as though you are interrupting them, no one who treats you like you are a bother. Ive been to many of these places and have to pay them for their behavior.. Gov. Choice is a place of sanctuary for me and my pets. And I appreciate them.
These guys are awesome. Best prices too!
I dont think our experience could have been worse. My doberman had a broken leg and came in to have his leg re-wrapped. We were then informed that his previous cast was incorrect and were told it needed to be wrapped differently. After having Governors Choice wrap my dogs leg, it was only several days before we started smelling rotting flesh. We quickly took him in to the Auburn University vet clinic and were informed that the cast had turned into a tourniquet. His flesh was gone and bone was now exposed under the cast. We then learned he was on the verge of loosing his leg for good due to Governors malpractice. Thankfully with many vet visits and a proper cast we were able to reverse some of the damage done by Governors. He still has a big scar and lots of money was wasted. I would never bring another pet here if my life depended on it. We tried to get them to admit to their wrong doings but they never would.
See other reviews... Yes, very empathetic and sympathetic... Very human... Not caught up in all the latest fad and political hype like others seem to be... I really appreciate their helpfulness during a really hard time and hard issues I was dealing with my favorite pet, my 13 year old dog.
I have used Governors Choice for years. They have fixed several of my dogs and cats. The staff is always so kind and so caring. I took my cat in which was like 9 years old at the time I think, because he seemed in pain, wouldnt eat or drink. Didnt want to be touched. He was swatting at us a lot. The doctor said they were going to test for feline leukemia first to see if that is why he was acting like that. If that was what he had, they werent going to bother with any other tests. If that wasnt what was wrong then they would do other tests to find out the problem. They called me within a couple hours and told me he did have feline leukemia. She was so sweet through it all. Told me how sorry she was and that she knows thats not what I wanted to hear. So I asked her, what my next step was, what I needed to do. She recommended having him put down. So she told me I could pick.him up and being him home to say our goodbyes. So that is what I did. I cried the whole time at the vet when I took him back to put him down. They were so understanding and so caring. They called Paws Memorial for me and made arrangements to have his body picked up and cremated. Then Paws delivered him back to my house. My chihuahua got sick and we took him in as well. They kept him overnight on IV fluids and ran tests as well. He didnt make it through the night. They also arranged for Paws to pick him up and they delivered him back to the vet clinic for me to pick up. I will always recommend this vet. The staff is incredible :)
I see a lot of people commenting that the clinic is outdated. I usually go to Madison hospital but on the recommendation of a friend I got a second opinion about my puppies condition at Dr. Harman’s office. The office does not come off as fancy but that doesn’t mean her technology and expertise isn’t up to date. I am so appreciative of the care I received. I was amazed at how personable everyone is. Dr Harman discovered an issue that my previous vet did not and I am forever grateful. The ratings for this clinic need to rise because this is truly a hidden gem. I’m so happy I found her and because of this we were able to diagnose something that could have cause issues later in life for my dog. I am so grateful. Never judge a book by its cover. Fancy isn’t always best. It’s about the quality not the dazzle.
Just went in for vaccinations and this facility was nice and clean (unlike a review I had previously read). Also the prices were lower than other animal hospitals/vets. They didnt try to shove particular brands down our throats which was really nice. My dog is in good spirits after the visit so we are very pleased. At this point in time, I would be more than happy to recommend this Vet to others who are looking for or in need of animal care services.
They have always taken care of all my animals in the past. Never have had any issues. Pretty good staff. Always polite and respectful. Ill use them again in the near future.
I took my sick mini Chihuahua and everyone was kind and thoughtful. Dr. Delia and her nurse handled not only taking exellexce care of my fur baby, but a scared and nervous parent. Thank you so much for all your help. The nice gentleman who had to hold Chico was gentle with him. Every one there is very professional. We even changed our vet needs to these great people . Thank you everyone.
This was our first visit. They staff treated us like family. Excellent care was given to our baby dog.
Governors Choice Animal Hospital is a wonderful veterinary clinic. They provide excellent pet care at very affordable prices. All of my pets have gone here for years and Ive always been completely satisfied. Its a full service clinic with friendly staff and knowledgeable doctors. I highly recommend you take your pets to Governors Choice!!
Horrible experience.i took my furbaby in for blood work.and when I picked her back up she couldnt walk she was weak and was meowing in pain.they said they gave her a steroid shot.she died 2 hours after I got her home they killed my cat.i paid all that money to them just to watch her pass away.when she was fine when we got there.
My daughter got chewed out by the vet about improper vaccination schedule because of incorrect information given to her by the front desk. We have gone there for years and will be changing vets.
Doctor Harmon has been my vet for 30 years. She is Amazing.
They get you in and out. No appointment needed for shots. I took my pet in because I thought she had Parvo. Was seen by veterinarian within 5 minutes and whole visit lasted 30 minutes. Tested and treated. Veterinarian explained everything in detail. And prices are reasonable. They even take Care credit!
Not friendly will go any where else and pay full price freaking rude.
What an absolute joke of a vet. Animals constantly getting sick, they lie on their prices and hit you with so many hidden fees. Ive had and heard nothing but TERRIBLE things about this joke of business. I would give negative stars if possible. Dont waste your time or money. Go to Chase.
I have been using them for years and do feel they care about my animals. They have sat and cried with me and held my hand through the painful process of putting them to sleep. I have always had shelter animals and they usually do more tests for discounted prices when they know they are being adopted and their medical history is unknown. I was given many options when my Pomeranian started having seizures. We tried vitamins and diet for a while not wanting to go to harsh medication until necessary. They gave me the signs to look for, so we knew when medication became necessary. When the time came for medication, they worked with me to do tests after to make sure she was OK after being on medication. They took the time to explain the test results and answered all of my questions. My Pom passed away recently (she had many medical issues going on at once) and they were extremely respectful when I brought her in. I have always been a sucker for the animals in need at the shelters, but I dont think I could have handled those situations without the help and care I have received from Governors Choice. I have felt knowledgeable about what to expect from each puppy I have brought to them. I have a new, probably more extreme case right now and I know they will do everything they can to help our new shelter dog as much as possible and make sure I know what I am doing when I bring him home.
My sisters dog is close to death because of this vet. They gave her dog (possibly a collie mix) Ivermectin for a skin irritation they thought was mange. I’m outraged. For the dog to get treatment she is gonna have to take him to an emergency vet. They said it’s gonna be over or around 1500. We don’t know what to do. Dog is currently blind, can’t walk, excessive drooling, and is dehydrated. And the vet is close today so we can’t go into raise hell. Don’t go here. You’re dogs life could depend on it.
I have used Governors Choice many times with foster dogs, getting neutered or spayed. The staff has always been nice and polite. And Ive never had an issue with a spay or neuter I had done there. And some foster dogs are a handful, but they never are rude about it. Good experience overall! :)
I have taken several animals to Governors Choice since they are a SNAP provider and I do animal rescue. I have at least twice had them comp medicine for an animal Ive taken there, without me asking. Thats a very nice thing to do that has lead me being a repeat customer. In one instance they caught a condition that wouldve killed my cat, treated it, and did not charge me for it, and in another they gave me worm pills for a 6 week old kitten completely free. I do not expect free medication when I go there, but the times they have done it have really made me feel like the animals wellness is their first priority.I have generally not used them for my own pets because I live on the other end of town, but after taking my new dog there to get neutered I am very pleased with how they treated both him and me and will be taking all of my animals there now. Everyone has been very nice and professional and thorough. My dog likes them, every cat I have taken there likes them, and I like them.
Wow! These are the best people in the universe to take care of loved pets. They always give estimates and have the best prices by far. It takes more energy to post negative reviews based on hearsay than to say something nice, to the people who are working hard to do the best job for your pet.
Best Animal Hospital in and around the Huntsville area
Dr Delia Harman is the most giving person I know and yet the most unappreciated. She works so very hard and such long hours but, for some, its just never enough, they want free or almost free. The staff is always running because theyre BUSY. Ive taken my pets there for many years. Im there almost daily, often several times a day, sometimes with difficult cases from rescue. Ill always trust their advice and care for these babies. They go above and beyond.
The vets and vet technicians at Governors Choice are very skilled and care very much about you and your animals. They are the best! They also price their services very reasonably. They spend a lot of time with clients explaining procedures and educating their clients on how to keep their pets healthy.
On 12/2/16 I took my baby Precious to get her shots. They took us back to the room, it was only a few minutes the person came to give her shots. He was very unprofessional, he grabbed a few bottles and a needle out of the small refrigerator but another needle fell to the floor. I had to tell him that it was on the floor because he didnt seem to want to be there anyway. I was holding my baby when his rude Ass starting giving her the shots in her backside. I thought they were to give them in the neck area. Then he was grabbing her mouth and squirt something in her mouth. After a hour or two she started swelling from the shot, so I called the office to see how much of benadryl should I give her and they said that I could bring her in and they would check her out. But they said it was going to be a $39 charge! I told her that I was just there and gave you $68, why would I pay another office fee. So, long story short I WOULD NEVER TAKE MY BABY THERE AGAIN!!!
I am so pleased with the services I have received for my puppy Sandy.. Shes very active pup.. They treated us very friendly. Sandy had her Rabies Shot And Nail cut..the Dr. Had it all done.. Nail are so much better and Sandy never even knew shed a shot too..We WILL CONTINUE to Drive to Huntsvile for all her vet needs ONLY at GOVERNORS CHOCE ANIMAL HOSPITAL..I THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH ....
Definitely unhappy with my visit. I get that everyone has their days but this was just too much. I had made an appointment due to having to take my dog on my lunch break. I got their 25 minutes early in order to fill out paperwork and still had to wait 1.5 hours past my apt time. When I initially arrived, the office was empty but the longer I stayed, the more walk-ins they took back before me. Also, when I finally got to see the Dr., after being made to change rooms twice, he came in and rushed through everything without letting me ask any questions. I had stop him on his way out twice to ask him what I needed.
Im sitting here and there is this Auburn linebacker here talking to the vets (people at the front desk) . The vet talks about how good the Auburn fans are and tells him out loud Alabama fans are just a bunch of rednecks. Im sitting here like Im not a redneck! They also tell us when we are about to pay that there are other fees we have to pay too. We called first to get a price and sat here for30+ minutes, then tell us we have to pay more money. More than likely not coming back.Im still in the office writing this.
I noticed my dog trembling so I called to ask a nurse a question. I didn’t receive a call back so two days later I called as a reminder. The Dr. got on the line and said “you were told to come in so I’m unsure why you’re calling back”. I told her that though those were her orders nobody called back to let ME know. She instructed me to bring the dog in Saturday. I was told would be a regular office visit and would cost $42.50. On Saturday we bring her in, only to be told that the dr was not in. The chart was even already out and noted that we would be coming in and needed to the doctor. During our visit the technician never once touch our dog. We even asked if her ears could be checked since she’s prone to have an ear infection. Still nothing!!! The tech again reinstated that there was nothing he could do without a dr. He prescribed pain pills (though he didn’t know what was wrong) and provided an estimate for blood work totally over $325 if we can back when the Dr was in. Again I asked the Dr the estimated total cost to see what was wrong with our dog and was told $42.50. Today was a waste of a trip!!!
My little cat Sabrina was very sick, so I took her to Governors Choice. I was sick with worry, but the staff and especially Dr. Harman were very kind. One of my other cats, Puff, came down with a mysterious sickness and I was losing my mind with worry, but again, the staff were extremely patient and compassionate. Ive read alot of negative reviews, and have to say - I LOVE Governors Choice. I will not hesitate to bring my babies to Dr. Harman! I have been treated with nothing less than dignity and compassion there, and I STRONGLY recommend them to all my friends!
I have brought my animals here many times. Last month my dog got bit by a snake and she was very ill. We brought her here and she came back with in days just fine! The people are also very caring.I extremely recommend governors choice to everyone!
**PLEASE READ** 6-15-2015. I just literally had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER at this deplorable excuse for an animal hospital! My mother and I took our cat there for an issue, which only worsened with each visit. We took our cat there today because he was lethargic and had diarrhea. The prognosis, which requires surgery, turned out to be correct, but the delivery and the handling of my poor 1 year old cat was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! The larger female vet (Dr. Harmon) manhandled our cat, very roughly and talked back to my mother as if she were an imbecile. We were simply trying to understand how he had gotten so ill over night, and why we had to have this surgery RIGHT NOW. She made comments like dont u understand, and look it up on Google. She then jammed a needle into his side in a most unorthodox way to get her sample so she could prove to us she was correct. Confused and close to tears, we attempted to leave the office in search of a kinder vet. We were then verbally attacked at the front desk by the same big lady doctor (Harmon) and other attendents being VERY RUDE and making comments like I hope your cat makes it and we have the best prices around. I would sooner pay TRIPLE the price, than EVER step foot in Governors Choice again! If u like your pets, you will choose any other place!! Please choose wisely .
The best care my cats ever had... personal, intense and professional. My Spook had liver failure and tho he didnt recover Dr. Harman and staff gave him round the clock care, some free care, and never gave up on him. Dr. H gives acupuncture that is amazing and made my fussy female cats stop fighting! The cats dont mind going to the office!
Extremely loving and caring for the animals and the owners. Happy people! The owner would give her life to an animal. Love it here!
Awful, dirty place. The rooms very outdated and crowded with stuff. My dog could not even turn around in the room. We boarded our dogs and our puppy came home with kennel cough! Unacceptable! The front desk staff needs a lesson on customer service. Last time we boarded we did not get all our belongings returned to us. They even lost some of our chart information. We will never return nor will we ever recommend this disgusting place.
After a year passes they will charge you for the same bill or a new bill that never exists and ask you too look for a recipet knowing you wont fine it so you have to pay for a whole new bill that never existed.
These guys and girls are the BEST! I couldnt ask for a better bunch of people to work with my babies (my doggies) very polite and kind people! Thanks guys for caring for my babies!
We have gone here for over 20 yrs and they have always been wonderful to our pets they have helped us many times with very sick cats you will always have an animal that might not do well on certain meds its just like us they can develop allergies to meds and we know from experience with any animal things can happen they will do what they can to help but meds and supplies are not cheap anymore so some things are not in their control. We have had several special needs cats and without the wonderful vets here these cats would have certainly passed away by now we just lost our oldest cat that made it to 20 years old and had a serious heart condition that she lived with for 11 yrs longer than emergency vet thought so please remember all animals are different and these people work very hard to help as they can. And all places have days that are rough with lots of emergencies so it might be really busy one day and not another. We will continue to use them as long as theyre available. We love GC and will not take our animals anywhere else.
Brought my 6 year old pit here to have a tumor removed from his foot and got him home and he started coughing and had this weird honking noise turns out he caught kennel cough from here and then gave it to my 3 other dogs. Then I took him back to get his staples removed and the male vet or whatever he is was very very rude he walked in and got art with me then walked out and never came back in someone else did?! I will not bring my animals back here!!!!
Thank you guys so much for spaying my cat, Libra, and Midnight the feral cat! Libra loves her new toys and she says thank you! Very knowledgeable staff and wonderful people doing great things!
I have had several dogs who have received care at Governors Choice through the years. About the attitudes of the staff and Dr. Harman; it has been MY experience that overall they do care more for the well-being of animals getting the treatments they need than the feelings of the humans who are responsible for them...and isnt that a good thing?
Hi. To be fair this is reasonable place to take your animal. The receptionist is a little abrupt, but who knows, maybe she has other issues. I dont think the customer service issue causes harmful effects to my animal. The care has never been a issue otherwise.
I have to give 5 stars because these staff members were the only ones willing to put up with my 80 pound German Shepherd acting like a feral animal in there. Im currently in the process of training her to be more confident and social and the staff was very understanding of that and listened to me when I said she will calm down within 2 minutes if they just stay in the room and give Jacqui a moment to sniff them. They were very professional and honest with me and did not push treatments to make more money off me. I was previously turned down at the Spay and Neuter Clinic due to Jacqui not being trained and intimidating the front desk there. However Governors Choice allowed me a walk-in spay. They did not man-handle the dog even though she was wearing a muzzle, they still were patient and allowed her to become trusting of the staff as I handed off the leash so they could take her to be treated. No hestation with Jacqui as she willingly went with someone she had been barking up a storm at no less than 15 minutes prior. Very happy with this place and I will gladly return.
I personal dont like governors choice animal hospital, theyre to expensive for poor service. I transferred to petsmart and it was cheaper and The service there is excellent. The people that work there are always in a rush, and my yorkie is terrified every time he goes there. I dont recommend this place to anyone
First all the staff was rude, i nutured my puppy in their own hospital and when I took him again the doctor didnt even know if it was nutured or not, the doctor was rude with an attitude and i felt like they were super racist just because we were latino. I walked out of the office and I am not comming back, I do not recommend this place to no one, If you love your pet dont take it here because they wont even treat them right.
They broke my dog’s spirit!
I was comparing the two vets that I use, Bentley and Governors. When seeing the reviews, I felt compelled to write about my own experience. Now, keep in mind that my mom and I are at ends when it comes to vets. I prefer Bentley, she prefers Governors. Both have been good to us though.I have a cat that was abused and is very mean. Most vets suggest that we put her down but Governors was very kind in giving her shots, treats, and not saying anything bad about her. When we get her shots, we ALWAYS go there because nowhere else will accept her. They have also done shots for several of our other animals.I havent experienced this rude behavior that I read about, but the vets are not as caring and compassionate as I would like when handling my other pets. However, I can understand why. They cant be gentle when theyre giving shots because the pet could jerk and get hurt. They have to hold them firmly for the pets protection.I would not rate them as the BEST, but I wouldnt rate them as the WORST either. All in all, I suggest that you try them for yourself.
Used the GC for one of my pups but now being forced to go elsewhere. My meds here are 2x the price as 800petmeds and they refuse to verify for the prescription. Too money hungry i suppose. Ill be taking her elsewhere from now on.
*****EDITED 05.22.17****Turns out the reception staff is really nice. Because HAS uses them for spaying, we continue to see the staff on an almost weekly basis during kitten season. They are really a joy to work with in helping to fight the pet population. The only drawback is their scale in the last examine room; it is ALWAYS off. We keep track of our foster kittens weight on a weekly basis and if they are sick, they get weighed daily. Every time we take the kittens in to be spayed, they always weigh less than our scale at home. Usually, I would chalk it up to different scales, yada yada, however while I was waiting on the vet tech to come check one of my fosters in, I weighed the kitten. The weight I got was 1 lb and 7 oz; when the vet tech weighed the kitten, she got 1 lb & 4 oz.Overall, this is a good animal hospital. We take our Huntsville Animal Shelter foster animals there for spaying and neutering. The reception ladies could be a little more pleasant but I might have just caught them on bad days. The vet techs are delightful and friendly. Because we drop off and pick up, we have not met any of the vets but it is my understanding that they keep in touch with HAS. I have not had any experience with their medical practices or prices, so this review is based solely on my personal interaction with some of the employees. If I didnt already have a vet and a back-up vet for my animals, I would consider using Governors Choice.
Do not expect to see the Vet. you will only see the tech.
When we lost our dog Mayling some one found her (her angel)and took her to the pound. We got her back they (the pound) took her to this clinic and they took Awesome care of our Mayling.
The receptionist is evasive being that when you call and ask for a doctor who is to perform a procedure on your dog or puppies they will not allow you to speak to the person doing the procedure and it is in my opinion very discriminatory. I feel that a customer should be able to speak to the doctor performing any procedure on ones dog.
***post edited***I have since STOPPED taking my animals and referring anyone to here. Effective 8/2017(2016?)I had several instances where I specifically stated I needed a price before I could move forward because I’m on a limited budget and services were performed that I was expected to pay for - the final straw was a dog that I have that has UTIs presenting with the exact symptoms and I requested antibiotics. I was told it would be $300 to diagnose. I took her to another vet who based on her previous UTI history and my knowledge of my dog, ordered antibiotics. Cleared up her UTI. More and more I’m seeing and hearing that this is no longer a place to take an animal if you care about their well being. If you choose to go- that’s on you. I no longer recommend.I originally took my sisters dog there because they charged the least for a rabies vaccine. They impressed me on my first visit with their friendliness and speed.I have since taken one of my dogs in who was suffering from an anaphylactic reaction and was impressed with the way I was treated and charged.I have since taken my rescue animals there and the staff in the back is great.I am not thrilled with one of their front desk people. She has mixed up charts, called me and then when I called back had no idea why I was calling or who called me from there- then realized it was her that had called. I have 2 distinctly different colored dogs and their pictures are mixed up on their charts. Other than her= they are awesome.
My friend paid 100$ to heal her bunny but all they did is taking a bath to it and it was useless because its what she was already doing unsuccessefully
Did not want to help when my pet is throwing up all the time they want money up front.
My husband and I went to Jackson to get our dogs ears cropped it started good we thought she was a really caring lady well she had our dogs ears tapped and in a cast that she made she told us it had to stay on at least 12 weeks well around 10 weeks our dog started to get real irritated with the whole thing so we took the cast off at home and his were standing just fine but we noticed they had been cut un even so we took he back to Jackson and she insisted to tape his ears back up even though they were both standing and his ears would straighten themselves out well when we got he homes he shakes out of her half way bandage she put on so we call and with a attitude says bring him back in so we did when we went back to pick him up a could hear him in the back whining after about a 30min wait they bring him out tapped up again my husband and I simply asked her why did she feel it was important to tap his ears again after we took the first set of bandages off his ears stood just fine but the second she did it the job was so tacky it made his ears fall we tok his tape off this last time she tapped his ears she put stints in his and wrapped tape around his entire head well she did not like the fact we asked her why she felt the need to wrap his after the first time since they were standing fine of course the cut was off but they were standing she became irate with my husband and I right there in the lobby of her office saying she didnt have to do his ears she can take everything off that she just done and all my husband and I did was ask a simple question about our dogs ears well we went home and our dog was completely miserable so about after 3 days he was so sad and uncomfortable we just decided to go ahead and take everything off this time she had wrapped his head so extremely tight the tape literally pulled hair and skin from around his neck and behind his ears the experience there was horrible she treated my husband our dog and myself with no respect it was as if she tried to hurt our dog we wont be going back my dog is still wearing the scars
We were refused service at Whitesburg Animal Hospital because our dog is tempermental around new people and the staff there disregaurded everything I told them about how to approach and handle the dog. We came to Governors Choice and the experince was night and day. They were completly understanding and did not judge us for having a dog that is subject to bite around new people. They had procedure in place for how they handle aggresive animals. I could not have been more pleased with the services we received here.

THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL WAS THE WORSE PLACE I COULD HAVE TAKEN MY ANIMAL TO, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWFUL, THEY ALL NEED TO TAKE A CLASS IN CUSTOMER SERVICE ESPECIALLY THE MANAGEMENT STAFF
Took my 2 small dogs to be neutered. After a long wait dropped them off.Picked them up & a few days later one came down with kennel coughfrom improper disinfecting at this vets office. Took him to another vet for treatment. Now my 3 other dogs have kennel cough due to GovernorsChoice.
Nothing to our dog up there for a broke leg, that was 3 months ago, they will not release him, he is skinny, kept in a cage where he cant stand up, he is getting worse and worse, if you love your dog dont carry him here..
Terrible serviceVet is a raging mad womanDid no exam, but got charged for it.Total joke!!!Never going back
Very happy with the people there, very friendly, and caring.
Don’t go unless you’re a part of a program. I called and got pricing on things, and got quoted one price. Then when it came time for my appointment, the price magically doubled.
