I would recommend this place to anyone who needs a watch repaired. Mr. Herbert does an exceptional job. First visited to have batteries replaced in a couple of cheap quartz watches. Their price was very fair and the job was done in one afternoon. Since I was so pleased with the service, I later brought a major project for Mr. Herbert to work on. I brought a solid gold vintage Longines from the late 50s that was in need of several serious repairs. He replaced the crystal, hour/minute hands, internal winding and other mechanisms. It took several months to find the correct parts and complete work, but this is to be expected for a watch that is very old and was pretty neglected. This is a one man operation, so dont expect a quick turnaround. But if you want quality and a very reasonable price Mr. Herbert is your man. He even keeps watches for a couple extra days to be sure they function correctly. He is a master who takes pride in his work. Awesome small businesses like this are becoming more and more rare, support them!

I bought 2 1960´s Rolex Datejust (1601) a few months ago, as it was expected from a vintage delicate piece without service, I needed to bring one to Herberts shop for a service, the watch was running but the date was switching at random times and it would get stuck. He has had it for about a month now, he gave me a reasonable price to repair the watch after he had examined it, after 3 weeks he found another problem with a spring and he honored the quote he had given me even though he had to replace the spring with an original Rolex part. The watch has been ready for a few days now, which I did not know until today when I went to drop off my second Rolex, I noticed my watch was in a winder, I asked if the watch was ready for me to take it home, he replied he normally keeps watches for a week or 2 to make sure they run smoothly. So happy with his work. Even his wife says it, he is too picky, he will not give back a watch until he is 100% certain. So glad I found him.

I would recommend Herberts Watch Repair to anyone in need. He integrated his knowledge of watches and, without doubt knows a great deal. He is friendly and seems to be very honest. Living in the neighbor hood for over fourty years and, would definitely return.Dan 3/25/10

Two stars because the people couldnt be nicer. I dropped my husbands watch off for a new battery. I went back after the date it was supposed to be repaired and they couldnt find it. It turned out he had it on his desk and he was just putting the battery in and they asked me to come back in a few days. When I returned to pick up the watch, the second hand stopped working and the digital display didnt work properly. I was told to just take it home and see if it self corrected, it never did. Maybe the watch was too modern for his skills or the watch had bigger issues than just the battery though it was working properly until it shut completely down.

Horrible. Dropped mud watch off for a new battery and crown replacement. Picked it up and because of the way they stored the watch my leather band came apart. They stuff the watch (no matter the size) in a small envelope. The location has no AC, so the envelope sucked the moisture out if the leather, coupled with extreme heat and dry conditions destroyed my band. I told them that I did not bring it in this way. Instead of admitting their mistake the denied it and said I had an old watch! After arguing with them they agreed to put some glue, rather than give ke a discount. Stay away if you care about your watch. Never going back. I also filed a BBB complaint.

This mom-and-pop operation was the best. Unfortunately, they have retired.

It would be nice if they could post their hours on this Google entry (especially as theres no web page). I got there at 3.50pm and the place was closed. My bad, I guess, re that chunk of wasted time.FYI, they close at 2pm or 3pm, depending on the day.

For $5 my batter was swapped out while I waited. Took five minutes. The shop is up on the eighth floor, so go inside, have the doorman get an elevator for you. They are open until 3pm.

If Herbert cant fix it then it cant be fixed. He repaired the band on my Cartier when everyone else was trying to sell me a new band.
