Despite the prominently displayed message on the web site about masks being required, when I entered the salon three separate customers were closely lined up to pay, all without masks.I waited for my nominal appointment, or for a message about how long I would need to wait. And waited. And waited. And waited. After 15 minutes, with more unmasked people appearing all the time, I left.Perhaps the company can have specified days for maskless people, and days for those who wish to protect other people, themselves and their loved ones. Perhaps they could also inform customers by text of delays, or even just inform customers in the shop. Or perhaps the eponymous owner could simply step up and do his job.

I made a appointment on their website and the process pretty straight forward. I had a haircut with Angel and had a awesome experience. She suggest a good style which will be apt for the summer heat in Houston. I’m happy with the way it looks.

I first had my first haircut here by Martin back in August and he gave me a fresh new style in the form of an excellent cut. Yesterday I tried to book him again and just missed him for the day.I am very picky when it comes to my hair and hesitantly decided to take a chance with another hairstylist.I booked with Angel who quickly removed all the reservations I had; giving me an awesome cut ✂️. I woke up this morning and did not have to use product or even comb my hair and it still looked amazing. I will definitely be back to see her.Also wanted to leave a special shout out to Sarah. Superb salon. Their facilities are very clean and their staff is friendly. My appointment was on time and the online scheduling makes things seamless. They offer you a drink when you enter the door and leave you feeling pampered. The staff is very covid conscious as well with everything spaced and cleaned appropriately. As a gentleman with longer hair, Angel did an excellent job and I would definitely recommend her. She truly listens, paying attention to the fine details and never rushing a cut. She is very personable and easy to talk to as well. Give her a shot, you will not be disappointed!

I visited Martins for the first time yesterday on the advice from a buddy who has been a client for quite a while. My visit was during the COVID-19 re-opening phase, so Im giving them the benefit of the doubt on a couple things. First, I had to wait for ~30 minutes despite having an appointment. Second, I was asked to wear their mask upon entering and also during the service itself. Normally, no big deal AT ALL - I totally get. However, an older guy came in after and was not wearing a mask. At no point did he ever put a mask on; not while in the waiting area and not while being serviced. There was also an instance where I saw a stylist and client, both with masks off, having a conversation at one of the stations. If its a rule, enforce it for everyone or dont. Beyond those things, I was impressed with the salon itself and was very appreciative of the workers who were there, despite the recent COVID-19. Angel asked me a lot of questions about what I wanted and was professional yet personable. She did a great job and I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This is not a cheap place to get a haircut, but its worth the $48 I paid. I was served a very good glass of bourbon on the rocks (they have other choices), the haircut was very well done, and not rushed. Plus, you get a neck, shoulder and scalp massage. If youre fortunate enough to get your hair cut by the stunning stylist, Angel, consider yourself lucky. She is very easy on the eyes. This place is more of an experience than a just a place to get a haircut. Highly recommend.

I got a haircut from Olga on Saturday. What a wonderful lady! She did a phenomenal job, took her time, was extremely accommodating and a great conversationalist. I also came back today (Monday) to get my hair color changed. Angel helped me out. Angel is mentioned in many 5-star reviews and I now know why. She was incredibly thorough and helped a newbie figure out the hair coloring process for the first time. She took her time to individually go through color samples so I knew I was getting the exact color I wanted and did an amazing job! She turned my hair from brown/blonde into a wonderfully warm summer blonde with great highlights. I couldn’t have been more pleased. I’ve tried all the men’s salons (Roosters, Boardroom, Gentry) and none of them come anywhere close to Martin’s. I will be a customer from here on! All of the stylists and employees were incredibly sweet. They all new my name by my second visit and checked on me multiple times to make sure I was as satisfied as I could possibly be. They made sure I had a drink for the long coloring process and made great conversation, which was a wonderful reprieve from the current virus situation. Small talk goes so far in times like these. And they made sure to end my hair care with a hot towel and a great scalp/neck/shoulder massage. I couldn’t recommend this salon more highly. You can’t go wrong with martin’s!!! I was searching all of Houston to find a stylist that fits my needs - I went a whole summer with bad hair until I found Martin’s and Angel. Fast forward a couple months, my bad summer hair is gone and Angel has got my hair on point, like it normally is! I’d recommend her and the salon, and even tho $48, it’s worth looking good, having good conversation & feeling good walking out.

Before I start this review, I should mention that I have only tried this place once, and it was awhile ago.The initial impressions of the barbershop were great. The shop is well kept and well decorated. The staff was all super friendly, and the owner seemed like a great guy. Also, they did not keep me waiting at all, which was very nice.My hair stylist was friendly, but the cut cost $45 and in the end it wasnt any better than a $15 haircut.... and the stylist lost grip of the trimmer and shaved off a tiny portion of my eyebrow. Yeah, that had never happened to me before in my life until right then. She didnt say anything, and I didnt make a scene because it was a very small portion and I wasnt 100% certain that she got my eyebrow until I got in my car and looked more closely.Ive had worse haircuts (minus the eyebrow thing), but Ive also had better. You can get a phenomenal haircut in the $35-$55 range in Houston, so I cant say that Id recommend this place for $45. The majority of the other reviews seem to be positive and the other customers in the shop seemed to be happy when I was there, though. Maybe I just had an isolated bad experience which happens to even the best places every now and then.

Laura never asked me that - she made some recommendations, I agreed and less than 2 hours later while working out some people at my gym already complimented my hair cut. Really great barbershop. There are many things I liked about this place but the key thing I really appreciated was that you can choose a male or female attendant and they have pictures of them on the website.Regardless, the lady I had was awesome - talked to me the whole time, never seemed rushed and demonstrated great skill as she tended to my hair.Will definitely go back again and again.

Very good cut and style in the friendliest place Ive seen. The name implies a barber shop, but they are much more than that. The offer things like shaves, beard and mustache trimming, and all the folks there are stylists of similar expertise. They all specialize in mens styles and full facial grooming. They do also womens styles, but men are their speciality. You cant go wrong with any of them. Ive seen 4 stylists there.While you wait, the also offer special touches including beer and liquor, bathroom with towels, etc. What is also special is the atmosphere. They are always lively and interact so much with their clients, and amongst themselves. They are all close friends. Thats a special plus for clients to be in a very friendly and non-stressful place. You quickly feel like family when you go there. Its more than just going in there for a cut.

I had zero notice for a TV appearance. Angel made time for me in her very busy schedule. Not only was the haircut and style stellar the neck massage had me forgetting why I came in. I’m known for more hair so I’m VERY particular about who gets to touch it. Angel is at the top of that list. Every Pearson in her chair gets treated like a million buck and walks out looking twice as expensive. Did I mention the price point is WAY reasonable. I’m a devotee now.

Guys this is not just a hair cut, its a grooming and relaxing experience that ANY guy wants to have. Great hair cut, relaxing neck rub and friendly folks.

Well I hate giving reviews after just one experience, however I wasn’t real impressed. I have no issues paying good money for a haircut but when I do, I expect a good haircut. I booked a beard trim and haircut. Got a high skin fade and I have spots where you can see where the clippers stopped and it wasn’t faded properly. We got done with the cut and she didn’t even brush the clumps of hair off the brim of the apron and so when she pulled it off a bunch fell down into my shirt. I get that they can’t keep all the hair from getting on someone but I could feel it run down my shirt. Then I was supposed to get a beard trim and she didn’t even know. However after seeing that she didn’t even try to line up the hair on the sideburns or try to fade it in with the haircut. I didn’t say anything I just canceled the beard trim that she didn’t even know I was supposed to get. I get we have bad days and maybe this was one for her but I’m very skeptic about giving it another shot. Just seemed rushed and sloppy.

I love going to see Laura her haircut and shave are top notch. Always friendly and willing to chat. Nice that you can have a courtesy drink while you get worked on. Small downside is that its a bit pricey. But hey you get what you pay for.

Been getting my hair cut here for past 4 years and keep coming back for the great service and excellent product. Always feel better after leaving this place. The staff puts you first and honestly cares about your experience. On the expensive side but worth it. They have packages available that can discount the price since you buy in bulk, so that helps with the price. Also have good hair products available, making it easily available.

I struggled for years to find someone that could cut my hair properly. I have very thick hair, and I always ended up getting it butchered by a barber. Then I found Martins Salon.. This place is fantastic. I have friends who tease me about paying these prices for a haircut, but I can honestly say its worth every penny (not to mention the fact that cheap haircuts speak for themselves).. From the complimentary whiskey, beer, water, or coffee, to the hot towel and neck massage, everything about this place makes you a lifelong customer. I always get a cut with Nasser, mainly because he knows what I like and how my hair grows, but I would be confident with anyone there. Martin, the owner, is always there cutting hair as well. Its refreshing to see an owner that involves himself in the daily operations. He is extremely welcoming and always has a smile on his face. I fear the day I move from Houston and cant come here for a cut.

I moved over to Martins Gentlemen Salon from Boardroom Salon because of the more professional environment. Boardroom Salon felt like a glorified Sports Clips for frat brothers, here I actually feel respected, appreciated, and am surrounded by professionalism.I am extremely dedicated to Martins and I know any discerning gentleman will feel the same way when they enter. It is an experience, not just some haircut.

Great place to get a mens cut. Ive been going here for the past 4 months now and every haircut has been superb. The hair stylist I usually ask for is Annie. I never usually know what to do with my hair but she always knows just what to give me. I recommend her to anyone.

Went there today to get a haircut. I was charged $49 for a ten minute haircut along with a wash at the beginning. He only used the clippers on the side, and a quick trim on top. I didnt even get a shave at the end. My haircut was good, but was definitely not worth $49, and then the tip on top. I wont be returning!

I went in for the first time and Angel took care of me. The cut, service, and atmosphere was such high quality!

After 14 years of rocking long hair, I decided that it was time for a change. I gave MGS a call and they had me come in for a consultation. The owner, Martin was the one who decided to give me a makeover. I was nervous in the beginning but felt a lot better after the consultation. The whole process was very relaxing and Martin completely transformed me into a new person. At no point during the process did I ever feel any fear or regret. I walked out as a new person and feeling good about it. On my way home, I stopped at a restaurant. The first person I came in contact with after the haircut was the girl at the restaurant. She looked at me and the 1st words out of her mouth were Gosh I love your hair!! Need I say more?

I got a gift card from my girlfriend for a haircut and executive shave ($98), and I really enjoyed it. The haircut took about 30 minutes, but the shave was about an hour long. They do hot towels several times, moisturizers, aftershave, and finish it off with a cold towel from a freezer. It was very well done, like a spa treatment at a fancy resort. I enjoyed a Sam Adams Oktoberfest (free) while getting this done, but they also had wine and Famous Grouse scotch available. The owner, Martin, was there and he was nice and welcoming. Ill definitely have to go back again. My stylist was Mitra, and I would recommend her.

The barber threw shade at whoever cut my hair last which was funny. At least made me feel like he knew what he was doing. They dress up a $50 haircut with a drink and neck rub which I thought was a bit of a waste of time. But good quality cut, will return

Gretchen has been cutting my hair there for quite a while now. This girl is awesome at what she does! I have left every single time with a smile on my face. Shes honestly the only person thats cut my hair that I didnt have to check my cut to make sure it is how I wanted. Also, its just a great place to get a hair cut, and the staff are friendly as well. Ask for the bourbon neat while you wait!

I love this place. I moved to Houston two years ago, and was done with chain hair stores. I wanted a salon that gave personal attention to its clients. I recommend Annie, she is by far the best stylist I have ever used. You are typically in and out, great service overall.

Fantastic place! Good atmosphere. It has a classy man-cave feel to it. I see the owner almost every time and he is always courteous and makes you feel welcome. I like to get a glass of scotch and sit in the massage chair. Of course, the skill of the stylists are the best Ive seen. I dont think Ill ever go to the franchises. Mitra always does a superb job with my hair, the shoulder massage, and shampoo. I leave looking and feeling like a million bucks. In summary, Im a fan. Guys, you need to go at least once.

Great haircut can’t complain but I typically get a simple cut with a taper on the back. The reason this rating is so low is because of the poor job he did on my beard. Not only did he bring down the length not to my liking he did a terrible job shaping it. To the point I immediately went home and spent the next 30mins fixing the job he did. During the haircut I showed my dismay however I did not want to upset him so I just left without saying anything. I tipped 15% because of the haircut but being a man who prides himself on his beard I will not be coming back. For the money I spent this should have been an easy request for a beard shaping and I regret going to this shop.

I found Martin Gentlemen Salon on Yelp and decided to give it a try due to all of the excellent reviews. I set an appointment (easy) and when I arrived, Gretchen was my hair stylist. I now refuse to go anywhere else. From start to finish she was absolutely perfect. I am very picky about haircuts, and that was the first time Ive left a salon happy with my hair. Now, any time I need a haircut I give Martin Gentlemen Salon a call and schedule an appointment with Gretchen!

Found this place on Google Maps and I had to go there for the fantastic reviews. When I arrived there I was welcomed by the receptionist, who was very sweet and offered me coffee. The owner himself welcomed me too. All in all, it was a very clean and classy place where I felt at ease, the hairdresser was professional and I had a decent haircut (6/10 when compared to what I consider a perfect haircut).Now the problem I had, besides the haircut itself, is that the receptionist told me I would get a free hair product if I go for haircut + shave. When I came to pay, the receptionist pulled up the product and was about to hand it to me, when the hairdresser stopped her. I noticed this and knew what was going on, because he was previously talking me into buying a shampoo and conditioner. He must have thought I didnt notice and at that moment, I didnt want to bring it up because I simply didnt want to get the receptionist in trouble. I did end up buying a shampoo and paying about 100 dollars for the whole thing. To sum it up, I felt cheated and I wouldnt go back to such a place.

Going to Martins is one of the things I look forward to every 2-3 weeks. Christopher is my stylist. He takes his time being meticulous and always ensuring my cut is the best it can be. The staff is very welcoming open to providing beer, coffee, tea, cold water, ect. The atmosphere is always professional, clean, and accommodating.

This place had been consistently above average (great other than feeling rushed through the process) and Laura always did an impeccable job. Unfortunately I scheduled a cut online prior to a vacation and no one at the salon bothered to call and let me know Laura would be gone until July and that might appointment had been moved 2 weeks. Saturday is typically the only day i can get a haircut. This late in the day its very hard to find an opening with a quality professional. Unfortunately I will not go back. Sorry Laura. Not your fault!In response to the owner, I did not make a July 6th appointment. I made it two weeks before that and your system then automatically moved my appointment to July 6th without any further notification to me.

She then contacted me to let me know they could not color my hair because of the color. I am extremely disappointed and was given false hope. Now I must find someone in less than 24 hours. The receptionist should have indicated that it may not be possible so that I could have something else as a back up. However, she made it seem like everything would work out great, but she didn’t come through. Such a shame.

Lovely place to get a haircut. Staff are wonderful and Martin gives a great haircut.

WOW!, Just had my first haircut here and I was so impressed with the whole experience. Customer service was awesome, everyone is very nice . I was looking to experiment with a hairstyle and the barber knew exactly what I wanted. This place is definitely worth the drive from katy so if you live closer, why arent you going here ?!?!

I have been searching for a great place like this. These are professionals. Not some Sport Clips or Fantastic Sams people here. Not expensive either. First place that I felt was overly done or cheesy. Feels like a cool bar that you could hang out in.

They cancelled my appointment an hour prior. I had already taken time away from work to get to my appointment. Very dissatisfied with their ability to accommodate. They said in the morning was good timing with the hurricane so I promptly scheduled.

I have been going here since I moved from Dallas 2 years ago. I always have a difficult time finding a place where I feel like i get a good hair cut, let alone one that is consistently good. I have used probably 4 or 5 of the stylists here and they have all been great!Everyone there is very attentive and always ready to help you. Martin is great, Ive seen him on a few occasions outside of the shop and he always makes an effort to come by and say hi.Recently I have been using Mitra. The last 3 times Ive gone Ive used Mitra to cut my hair. She has a eye for making sure you get a good hair cut.I would recommend that anyone who feels like they have a hard time finding a good stylist/barber to give her a shot. In addition, Ive also gotten multiple hair cuts from Gretchen and Martin and they have been spot on. Long story short, you cant go wrong here.Although Ive never partaken, I also think they offer you a tasty beverage, glass of wine, scotch neat or a nice cold beer.

This is a very nice salon, but I didnt have a comfortable chair for my manicure, which made the experience sub-par even though the manicure itself was good. They have massage chairs, but they are broken. This is a pricey salon, and broken chairs arent okay. Manicures and pedicures should be done elsewhere due to the lack of proper or comfortable seating.

Its a nice and classy place, was greeted by the receptionist and several stylists, they really do make you feel welcomed. They also offer you a drink, either coffee or bottled water. Thats as good as it gets. I rate my haircut a 4/10 the stylist didnt do a good job at all I said it was fine but I just wanted to get out of there before she ruined it even more if thats possible. Heck she didnt even get the sideburns right! One side is higher than the other and at an angle, not straight. I expected a lot more for $45 I know it was probably just that stylist but I will not be going back. Very disappointed as I now have to go to another salon to get my haircut fixed.

Nice spot with solid stylists. Id mention the one that I see but Id never get in to see him if I did! Clean and classy, though a little pricey.
